Stopped by La Terrazza and this may be one of my favorite rooftop restaurants in Raleigh. When you arrive parking can be a bit tricky in this area as you'll either need to park on the street or in a nearby parking lot/garage. To find the restaurant you'll enter through the Dillon and then take the elevator up to the 9th floor. Once you exit the elevator you'll see the entrance to the restaurant. To be seated you'll check in with the host and have the choice of sitting inside or outside. Walking in you'll be transported to an upscale restaurant with stunning rooftop views, lush and relaxed. We opted to sit outside on the outdoor terrace which had views of Raleigh and was perfect for sunset viewing l. For drinks I ordered the Mezzanote Martini (Vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, spiced bitters) and two glasses of the summer Sangiovese. By far my favorite drink was the Mezzanote Martini as it was balanced and had a good amount of espresso. For appetizers we ordered the La Coq Pistou Pizza (Grilled pesto chicken, fior di latte, spinach, San Marzano sauce, olives), the Arancini (Fried risotto, stuffed with our bolognese sauce, fresh mozzarella), and the Arrosticini Scottadito (Grilled skewers of lamb and beef, romesco, salsa verde). The pizza was really good, the pesto chicken and basil added good flavor, and I definitely recommend ordering Parmesan cheese and red pepper on side. The Arancini had the perfect amount of batter and the risotto inside was perfectly cooked. The arrosticini scottadito had a good spice to it and the meat was well seasoned/cooked perfectly. For entrees, we split the lasagna (Classic ragu, bechamel, fresh pasta) and the Butcher's Cut Steak (14 oz Ribeye, Mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, mushroom marsala). The lasagna layers didn't feel to heavy and the bechamel on the top was perfect. The steak fell apart and was also excellent. For dessert, I ordered the Tortino (Valrhona chocolate, vanilla gelato, salted caramel) which was so good. The chocolate was warm and that mixed with the ice cream and fruit made this dessert excellent. The city views around the restaurant are gorgeous and it is a great place to watch the sunset. If you are in downtown Raleigh and are looking for a nice rooftop I highly recommend trying out La Terrazza. read more

For a place trying to be an upscale restaurant the service doesn't match the atmosphere/prices. We got there a few minutes early for our reservation for 7 people for an inside table and they told us one would be ready in around 15 minutes. ~20 minutes go by and they say there is actually no inside tables available at all and that we will have to sit outside if we want to eat there. Okay, not great because it's hot, but fine - on our walk outside we pass by an open large inside table that's 'not available'. I get it happens but...? We are sat and our meal and drinks are good, my ravioli was very yummy. However, we told the server it was our friend's birthday and at the end of the night there was no dessert or anything brought for her. A big miss in my opinion. Especially when you are paying prices like $30 for a pasta with no meat, I would expect the service to be exceptional. TLDR: food is solid, definitely a bit pricey for the level of service provided. read more

Came here on a Thursday night and it was a little slow. The restaurant space and views are really fantastic. You have a great south view and the sunsets. The staff was very friendly. We ordered some calamari and burrata which were good. The pizza was solid as well. We also had the lamb shank, risotto and scallops and the tagliatelle. All were good. Not spectacular but good. Being on the ninth floor with the downtown setting immediately gives the restaurant an elevated feel, and the space itself is stylish and inviting without feeling overly formal. We started with the Burrata, served with greens, cured tomatoes, green olives, and aged Modena balsamic, and I loved how the creamy burrata paired with the acidity and subtle sweetness of the balsamic. This place is beautiful, both inside and out. From the minute you take the elevator up, you feel the upscale ambience and beauty of the restaurant. Definitely step outside during the night and try to come during sunset for some views and pictures. The food was okay. We weren't crazy about the caesar salad or ravioli. However, the pizza was a good appetizer, and the lamb chops were nice and tender. I definitely feel like for a rooftop this beautiful they could've made better seating arrangements than the tables they had. The food here was expensive and decent but definitely not worth the price. I know you're paying for the view, and I that's great and all but it's not NYC. I was also mad at the chairs we sat in. It was so small that I could barely fit in the seat and I was uncomfortable the whole time. I will say that everyone else's food looked great though! Amazing views at sunset. Wow. If you are heading here please try to be here as the sun is going down. With the clear view to the west (see pic) and the reflective buildings to the east you get a dusk to remember. We did not eat here so no info on the food. The drinks were made perfectly and prices are typical. Our first bartender gets one star. Maybe he was having a bad night. He came to our seats at the bar, he asked about our order but before we could even reply he looked at a piece of paper in his hands and walked away. He never came back to us...but he served others near us. What the what?! Second bartender finally saw us and she was awesome. Professional, courteous, and friendly. Plus the drinks were perfect and served promptly. All in all just a weird experience. Never had a situation where the dude flat out failed like that. The evening ended on a positive note but this feels like La Terrazza turned a five star review into a 1 star memory. Weird. read more

Ambiance inside was good but the lights on our table turned off 30 minutes after we sat down and no one turned it back on even after we told the staff. Server served water but didn't ask us for our drinks. We went to the bar to order. The server also wanted us to start boxing our food even though we were still eating. This is one of my favorite spots in downtown Raleigh! I've been in the summer and winter and had amazing experiences both times. In summer, it was magical to sit outside and have the Raleigh skyline to bask in. In the winter, I brought my large family here to sit inside. We got similarly amazing views sitting in the opulent, glass walled dining area. Getting everyone to agree in my family is tough - but we all agreed that this was the best Italian place! We all ordered different pizza and pasta dishes and we were somehow all abundantly pleased with our selections! In my opinion, the hidden gem on the menu is the lasagna. I booked a reservation for this rooftop restaurant to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. It's overlooking downtown raleigh, so the views and atmosphere were pretty top notch.....except for the fact that the building is across the street from Raleigh Union Train Station. Keep in mind you'll be hearing a train horn every 15-20 minutes if you decide to eat outside. The food was hit-or-miss. On one hand, The Sicilian dish was pretty good, had a nice pesto and pistachio base, just a bit too oily in my opinion. My girlfriend tried to order the ravioli main dish, but the waiter mentioned that they "ran out". She ordered the Tagliatelle, which for all intents and purposes was the most basic pasta dish ever. The sauce was unflavorful, similar to ragu, and there was no salt or seasoning added to the dish whatsoever. We literally had to manually add salt to it because it was that bland. We also ordered The Arancini appetizer dish which are basically these fried risotto balls. They tasted a bit freezer burned and were served with that same unflavorful sauce from the Tagliatelle. The drinks were probably the best part of the dinner, no complaints in that avenue. The chairs are metal and pretty hard to sit on, but that might just be a matter of opinion on my end. The big kicker was that there were COCKROACHES all over the overlook deck. Huge ones too, I tried to get a video of what my girlfriend and I saw so I could prove it, but we decided to just get out of there. Not my favorite experience. read more

Visited on Father's Day with my family of 6. The setting is pretty cool. Nice entry way with access to the roof top deck. The hostesses aren't the friendliest but there were plenty of them. We chose to sit outside and while it was pretty humid it made for a funner experience. It rained off and on, but the windows opened and closed accordingly. The service was good, but nothing great. Unfortunately, I struggled to find something to drink. THEY DO NOT HAVE SWEET TEA. We are in NC. This is the South. No restaurant, no matter the price point, should not have sweet tea. I was told that they have Pepsi products, but that's not exactly true. They have Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and I was told Sprite, but I pointed out that's a Coke product so she corrected herself that it's Sierra Mist. I wasn't trying to be difficult, but seriously, you don't offer tea, root beer, Mountain Dew...? I tried Ginger Beer, only to be disappointed and settled on Ginger Ale. I was left dehydrated. The apps were the best part of the meal. I recommend the arancini and the polpo. We each tried different pastas. They were fine, but nothing I need to eat again. The desserts looked amazing, but unfortunately looked nicer than they tasted. I didn't taste anything on the menu that I'd return for. I was in Raleigh last week for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. Five of us went out the night before her birthday. La Terrazza has a great view of the city. Brendan, our server, was always there when we needed him without becoming a distraction. He knew their food well. I started out drinking an Old Fashion that was very good. The other 4 were drinking wine. Then I switched to Peroni. We started out with a couple of antipasti plates; Tagliere and Arancini. Both made great food to nibble on while we were talking. For dinner I had the Amatrice, a pasta dish with red sauce and guanciale. I liked it very much. My wife split a pizza with her brother that she reported to be delicious. Fun dinner with the in-laws on a pleasant late spring evening. read more

This was such a great experience. We had a 7:00 Pm reservation and showed up early to figure out parking. Parking deck in the building and was extremely affordable. We were sat early. The ambiance of this restaurant is cool, moody, and modern. It was overcast when we went, but I definitely want to go back to see the lighting on a nice day. Our server was Tim P, great server. Knowledgeable, funny, charismatic guy. He brought us a mocktail menu when I asked and was kind enough to ask if I drank alcoholic drinks at all, because we were celebrating our two year wedding anniversary and he wanted to send some complimentary prosecco to the table. I loved that he asked! We ordered drinks and the arancini while he explained the menu. Each pasta dish is named after a city or area of Italy, which was very cool to know why they built their menu as such. Arancini arrived while we were still learning about the menu fresh and hot! We dove in immediately. It was amazing. The bologna's filling wasn't like any arancini i've had before. I ordered a spring mocktail, Cranberry Fizz, cranberry juice, lemon juice, and sprite. It was so good. Tasted like a strawberry lemonade. My husband loved his cocktail, he ordered two. we ordered the bread, which I didn't see on rhe menu but he mentioned it in passing. It was ok! Olive oil and salt on top made it good but definitely needed more or like a plate to dip in parmesan, EVOO, and red pepper flakes or something. But still delish bread. I got the seasonal ravioli. Spinach and Mushroom filled ravioli with cream sauce and side of shrimp for some protein. My god that shrimp was unreal! Seasoned perfectly and plump. The pasta was a great portion. Normally you got to restaurants and order ravioli and it's like 4 pieces, this was a bowl full! My husband had the Amatrice, he loved it. I tried a bite and it was good! You could tell this was not boxed pasta and it was all made fresh. The tortino dessert was unreal. Super rich and needed the scoop of ice cream but it was worth it to have a full belly. I attended a birthday celebration at La Terrazza, located on the 9th floor of the Dillion. The rooftop offered stunning views and a delightful ambiance, making it a top on my list of favorite spots. While the service was a bit slow, our server was professional and attentive, providing a comprehensive rundown of the specials. The food, including the pork belly appetizer and the Lasagna with Greek salad, was all delicious. Other appetizers, such as calamari, beef, and lamb skewers, were also thoroughly enjoyed by our group. Despite the wait, everything was worth it. Our server, Justin, did a fantastic job, going the extra mile to ensure we had a great experience, including taking care of the birthday cake. I highly recommend La Terrazza and look forward to returning. The seats inside could be better. Not the most comfortable. I understand it's a hot spot, so perhaps this is a way to influence customers to eat and go. Decided on La Terrazza for my birthday dinner after seeing a TikTok post. When we got there, the hostess was very nice. She asked us did we want to sit inside or outside, and when we weren't sure, they let us walk around the restaurant to check the vibes of both. We decided to sit outside! While I dont remember our servers name, he was great! He had really good recommendations and just a great personality. We had the Burrata salad - the greens were good, but I am not a fan of the burrata cheese. It wasn't very flavorful, and I didn't like the texture. That was a waste of $14. As an appetizer we had the ARROSTICINI SCOTTADITO, and this was SO good! The beef and lamb were so flavorful and tender. I honestly could've had this as an entree. For our entrees we had the AMATRICE and the TAGLIATELLE CLASSICO. The AMATRICE had the biggest spaghetti noodles I've ever had - they were SO thick. Otherwise, the dishes themselves were good. I also tried the Margherita Ross's (their version of a margarita). It was very fresh and made well! For my birthday, they gave a complimentary serving of sorbet which was nice! Overall, we had a nice experience; the vibe and scenery were great! While I don't think I'd break my neck to go back, I would recommend checking it out for yourself! read more

My friend and I caught up on life at La Terrazza. The views were gorgeous and even though it was a very hot day, we were able to sit under the pavilion and it definitely allowed for us to have a much cooler experience out of the sun. We enjoy the Margarita and the spritz and the drinks were very refreshing and very delicious. Service was great, they were very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The food came out surprisingly fast and everything was really good, the pasta was a bit more al dente then I used to, but I really did enjoy it. The newest Italian restaurant in downtown Raleigh has raised the bar! Brought to you by the owner of Mulino Italian Kitchen, La Terrazza has a stunning location and view of the city. Get whisked up on the Dillon elevator to the 9th floor and you'll see the large, tiled entrance up front. Inside the space is tastefully decorated and designed with hints of real Italian accents everywhere along with large windows lining the dining room. Really lovely views of the Oak City. La Terrazza offers up a menu of handmade pastas, pizzas and some secondis. Prices are in the $20 to $40 range which is totally reasonable. I did some leek ravioli which were fantastic along with an excellent margherita pizza. I went with a friend to grab drinks yesterday. The view was beautiful! Our waitress was kind. The only issue we had was that we had gotten a drink that ended up tasting really bad (bianco su bianco) and they did not let us switch it out with anything else or refund the drink. And paying 16 dollars for a small drink I would hope that it is something I can enjoy:( I do recommend either the espresso martini or fragola fizz though. Those ones were yummy:) read more

I worked in The Dillon from 2018-2021 and was always hoping a restaurant would come to the 9th floor terrace. I read recently in Raleigh Magazine that a restaurant finally opened in the space in May 2024! Italian Food?! I knew I needed to make a reservation to visit ASAP. I made our reservation for a Thursday evening. We parked in the parking garage attached to the building and took the elevator up to the 9th floor. (Note - at time of this review, La Terrazza does not validate parking). A hostess station is outside of the restaurant in the lobby area and we were greeted promptly and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. It was a beautiful day so we chose to sit outside. Our table was in the sun, which wasn't a bad thing for this particular evening, but I can see it being a challenge as we get further into summer with higher temperatures and longer days. Those tables will definitely need some sort of covering to be comfortable. I also found the outdoor metal chairs to be uncomfortable. Our waitress Mandy did a really good job serving us. She watched closely and came to refill our water often and offered to keep our bottle of wine at the outdoor bar so it wouldn't be sitting in the direct sun. We ordered the Greek Salad and Burrata Salad to start. The Greek Salad was amazing! My husband enjoyed the Burrata Salad but thought the Greek Salad was much better. He chose the Porro Ravioli for his entree and I ordered the Norcina pizza. My husband said he had definite entree envy. My pizza was really, really good. He thought his ravioli was just okay and that it needed more flavor. I think it could be improved if some herbs were mixed it, such as parsley. We shared a bottle of red wine over dinner from the expansive wine menu. The views from the terrace are top notch. Arguably the best restaurant view of Downtown Raleigh! There are some enclosed dining rooms that also have a great view of the skyline. Something a little different is that there is not a restroom within the restaurant itself - you must exit the restaurant to the 9th floor and use the building's restroom. I didn't see any signage indicating this but am familiar with the building from my previous employment that I knew where to go. Overall, La Terrazza is a beautiful space with a perfect ambiance. They were able to make us cocktails that weren't too sweet but flavorful and strong. The bread was exceptional and we ordered multiple loafs for our table of four. As a vegetarian, the pesto pasta was fresh and tasty. The cauliflower appetizer had a cream sauce that was unlike anything I've had before.
