Crab Tostada
Pamela P.

Nice spot for drinks with authentic Mexican food, I was told it was only cash but to my surprise they were taking cards as well, which was great because is not cheap. We paid $160 for 2 people for a few drinks, 2 appetizers and 2 tacos. The Lengua tacos were Yummy but for $6 each I was expecting much more than a few pieces in a smaller than usual tortilla, really small, kids size small. Service and ambiance on the other hand was great, very friendly servers and good music selection, I would recommend for drinks and snacking but not for dinner. The place is small as well so probably not ideal for big groups. We had the crab tostada, pata tostada, and lengua tacos, everything tasted good, but again for the price I would have expected much better quality/portions. However yes we will go again for drinks with friends.

Cebollitas
Caroline D.

Tried a couple of things here today which were pretty hit or miss. The guyaba margarita was great - it was well balanced and I loved the hint of heat. The cebollitas were super yummy too - especially when you squeeze a little lime on them. The tacos were just sad. Neither the carne asada or the shrimp had much flavor. Their paloma was also really syrupy. Regardless, it's a solid neighborhood spot to grab a drink - and they have decent outdoor seating, which is nice. I'd come back for the cebollitas alone.

Great food, perfect service. The restaurant had a real movie feel for some reason. Dark, moody but a perfect place to hang with friends. Carne asada tacos were okay (had tomatoes which isn't my vibe), wish the chicken was a little more shredded, and the carnitas were good but not fantastic. I did see a review that said the guacamole was to die for and they were not lying. I would come back just for that.

Chicken Quesadilla

I got to the restaurant at 6:59PM and didn't receive my food until 7:48PM. The only thing I order was a quesadilla which to my surprise was not a quesadilla it was more of an empanada it was tiny. So if you're looking to get full, this is not the meal to get. The service was super slow. I honestly would not come here again.

There's something in a name and in this case the name tells you exactly what you're going to get; a superior product. So tacos are definitely my love language and all tacos are not created equally so I'm kinda picky about where my tacos come from. I was on a date at nearby Domino Park and looked into this spot. Our server Masha was super sweet, introduced herself , shared a little of her history with the restaurant and made great recommendations. We went with a variety of tacos that included: the fish, garlic shrimp, spicy pulled chicken. While those were being made, we started with the guacamole and chips. I don't know all the ingredients that was in that salsa but Baybee when I tell you that thing had a kick to it. Even the Jamaican in me couldn't fully handle it. It was giving 50 Jamaican hot peppers. When we did get the tacos, the fish was super fresh and tasteful. The shrimps were all garlicky and succulent and while the chicken wasn't as loved and was super messy ( which I don't like)- everything was good. Bae had a Modello and I had the guava flavored margarita minus the spice. We left their on a high. Really great service, amazing food and vibes. I had only one gripe- Idk who was in control of the playlist was but it sounded like a bad American Idol contestant. Besides that, nothing to complain about. Do keep in mind they are CASH ONLY! They do have a roadside ATM that is $2 if you feel like choosing violence. When you're done, grab icecrean at Oddfellows down the street. Enjoy!

Guac and chips

Surprised this is 3.5, because we had a great meal here! Complaints I have are small portions for tacos - like little stuff is inside the taco. Could be a heavier taco. The rajas tacos was really good and unique! The sauce is awesome. The fish taco was ok. The Guac and chips were to die for. Some of the best Guac I've ever had in my life. The chips are thick and have a great crunch. Outside seating. Service was fine. Cash only which is a little annoying.

Large tamarind and guava margarita (opt for the tamarind)
Leemor Y.

Craving margaritas and tacos? Then give this place a try. They have a good amount of outdoor seating but it does fill up during peak times. My to go tos are the tamarind margarita (4.5/5), the shrimp tacos (5/5) and the cheese fondue (4/5). The cheese fondue is a great quantity/price ratio. The shrimp tacos are so delicious, and the tamarind margarita has the best taste IMO. Enjoy!

Jamaican Margarita - small

attentive and friendly staff, drinks are sting and pretty good, we had tacos and enjoyed the quiet Sunday evening. Good quality ingredients.

Tried this place on a Tuesday night. Not many people around when we arrived at 7. By the time we were leaving, the place was packed with a wait. To start off, I wasn't overly impressed by the timing of the food coming to the table. It all kid of came out at once. I guess it's nice because it isn't sitting under a heat lamp somewhere In The kitchen. We tried 3 different kinds of tacos - the chicken Tinga, carnitas and fish. They were all very delicious. The sauce that comes with the tacos is a nice compliment. I found it a little spicy but not too bad. We also got the chorizo and potato quesadilla and the mushroom quesadilla. Both were very tasty. Not like regular quesadillas, but they explained that to us when we ordered so we knew what to expect. I would defiantly return to this place, when I'm back in the neighborhood!

What happened? Food used to be great! Soggy carne Asado tacos. Flavorless guacamole. Liquidy Rajas tacos. Sad.

Everyone that works there is super attentive and for how busy they are they always make sure to check up on your table. Their tacos are extremely delicious, they don't hold back with make sure each taco is full of any kind of meat that you get! Full of flavor and just looking at them reminds you why they're the best. Some other notable things that you should get is the quesadillas and the nachos they have. I'll have to keep coming back to try other things. This neighborhood gem offers an industrialized minimalist form of decor with pops of color and art. Cozy but roomy, the bar area had mostly 2 seater tables and a few with high chairs. We recently went for a birthday brunch. Restaurant Week was still in effect but we decided to choose from the regular brunch menu. Place was low key and giving neighborhood vibes. The service was 10 STARS! Our waitress was extremely attentive and kind. We were also checked on by a second staff member who I think may have been a manager but cannot be certain. We started with cocktails and they serve chips and salsa gratis. I had the Jalapeno and Hibiscus Margarita and my friend ordered the Pepper Margarita with Strawberry and Chipotle. Mine was a bit on the sweet side without a hint of tequila. My friend's drink definitely was the better of the two. Not overly sweet and definitely a flavor of tequila was present. We also ordered a guacamole. I must say it was quite small and barely served 2 people. I suggest if more than 2 guests are part of the experience, order more than one. For my entree, I requested a market salad and 2 veggie tacos with a side of birria consume. Salad was very fresh and I am sure was made to order as opposed to premade a week prior and waiting in a fridge to be served. My tacos were average but satisfying. The consume was a bit disappointing as it was more of a water/broth based and not of a typical gravy consistency. It was not exciting. My friend's entree was the highlight of the experience. She had the brisket quesadilla. Never have I seen a quesadilla with a crispy outside such as this. A culinary masterpiece indeed. She consumed it all and not one complaint afterward. Delish. We did receive a complimentary Churro plate for the birthday celebration. They were drizzled with caramel and berries. Served warm, they were a dream for the palate. I did use the bathroom which was a single stall. It was clean enough but not well lit. The biggest downfall of my experience was the temperature of the restaurant. I understand it is summer, however, there was no A/C and the inside was extremely hot. I sweated through my entire experience. Even the bathroom felt like 100 degrees. We did not complain but our waitress noticed and brough a fan out to circulate the air. They do have ceiling fans but honestly I did not feel them. The management/owner should consider more temperature control methods during the hotter months as it was quite uncomfortable. To sum it up, I thought this experience was mostly positive and would patronize it again.

I've tried all the other hot places that have shown up in the last 5+ years to much acclaim, and none of them top the Campechano taco at Ramirez. I was pleasantly surprised and actually really enjoyed the tacos! We ordered the Al Pastor (3.8/5), which had really good flavor and a nice char to the meat. We also tried the Suadero (3.5/5), which was also good! It wasn't overly rich or overpowering, and the meat was cooked really well. We also ordered the Consomé Ranchero, which we enjoyed as well! It was flavorful and even had some hominy at the bottom, which was a nice touch! It's a small area to eat. Counters all around, but people eat the tacos quick and we were able to get seated once a small group left. It can definitely get packed if there's a lot of people. Coming from San Diego, I definitely have high expectations for tacos, but Taqueria Ramirez did not disappoint! We'd definitely come back on our next trip to NYC!
