LA Spicy is one of the OG Viet-Cajun spots on the north side and has clearly been around for a while. The space is a good size, but service could use some improvement... though honestly, that's kind of expected with older crawfish joints. The crawfish were solid, not the best I've had, but still good. The garlic butter sauce is unique with a strong tamarind presence. Personally, I'd love a little less tamarind and more Cajun seasoning. The crawfish tails were juicy (always a good sign they're properly soaked), and they use real garlic, which makes a difference. The shrimps were big and juicy, very delicious. Grilled oysters were fresh and plump but could've used more sauce. The standout for me was the razor clams! They were perfectly grilled with fried shallots and crushed peanuts toppings and thick fish sauce that complemented them really well. Also, their michelada was surprisingly really good. Overall, a solid, classic spot if you're craving Viet-Cajun. read more

Solid seafood spot in the area. I have been looking for a place that i want to be my go to. The service was nice and very attentive which is hard to find these days. The crawfish was cooked to perfection. I did not have any overcooked crawfish. They were plump and fresh. I had a few big crawdaddies in there but most were like medium so I was happy. The shrimp could use a little work but we still ate into it. The Cajun fries were hot and crispy and I had no complaints. At this time they were running a deal buy 5 pounds get 1 free. read more

Went on a Wednesday night after a recommendation from a friend and started the crawfish season out right. I ordered 2lbs of crawfish with sausage and corn (1 potato included) in the spicy garlic butter and cajun sauce. We also got the shrimp fried rice and the Cajun fried to share at the table. The crawfish was super tasty and I could tell that they used live crawfish not frozen. The sauce was buttery and spicy from the Cajun seasoning. Most of all I really enjoyed the copious amount of garlic that they use in their sauce. The corn and potato were not as coated in the sauce as I would've liked and the sausage was not the snappy Cajun sausage I wanted, but it was still enough to satisfy my craving. (7.5/10) The cajun fries were standard and the fried rice was solid as well. (6/10) The rice mixed in with the spicy cajun butter sauce, however, really elevated the flavors and was the perfect side to accompany the crawfish. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and the service was great as well. The waiters came around to refill waters and empty out our trash bowls multiple times. Even though we their last customers I felt very well taken care of and did not feel rushed at all. The parking lot has a few spots reserved for customers but other than that it is an open lot so parking shouldn't be an issue. When will ZERO stars be available?! The waitress was very kind and attentive. Unfortunately I can not say the same about the rude manager. I don't have a name as he refused to give it to me. Ordered 3 lbs of crawfish and was utterly disgusted when I went to dip a peeeled crawfish in the sauce and realized there was a ROACH in my crawfish. I asked the waitress to bring me a fork and when she proceeded to I kindly asked her to flip it and see what it was. She said no she didn't have to she could tell what it was, I said a roach and she nodded yes. She kindly went to get the manager who came to argue with me that it wasn't a roach and looked more like a grasshopper like that was supposed to make the situation better. He made NO attempt to rectify the situation, just wanted to argue that I was the only one complaining and he was in the crawfish industry and that was a normal bug to see in my crawfish. I mentioned in the many years I've eaten and made crawfish I had NEVER had this bug in my food. I told him I was not paying for the crawfish as this is disgusting and he proceeded to try and make us pay. I said we had no problem paying for the wings but the crawfish absolutely not. He in a very rude manner told me fine if I don't want to pay but don't ever come back. There are dozens of crawfish restaurants in Houston what in his right mind would make him think I'd want to return to one that CLEARLY does NOT clean their crawfish correctly... Unfortunately they have lost a couple loyal customers as my cousins and I visit this place regularly seeing as it's down the street from my house. NEVER AGAIN. DIRTY CRAWFISH AND RUDE MANAGER!!! This place is a little ducked off & a bit of a high traffic area on the opposite side of 249 from willowbrook . My waitress was so adorable & sweet she really was a joy . We are walking into the restaurant and in front of the counter is a huge dead roach on the floor. We told the lady behind the counter. She just looked at us and completely ignored what we said about the roach. The lady was very unfriendly. We have been there before and the food was good. The service was horrible. read more

Came for the crawfish and oysters. They didn't have raw oysters available so I was disappointed in that. Got the grilled oysters instead and they were topped with garlic butter. Very nice! Maybe they could incorporate other toppings for grilled oysters. Just a recommendation. The crawfish was so good! I'm only in Houston for a short period but was so excited to visit to taste delicious crawfish and this place did not disappoint!! I believe I mixed their Cajun and garlic butter. Great food and prices! Current market prices: $19/lb for snow crabs $9/lb for crawfish. 6 raw oysters for $8 (plus they threw in an extra one). The food came out very fast and everything tasted great. They provide gloves, bibs, scissors and claw crackers. I went with the spicy Cajun sauce and it was very tasty and not too spicy. The snow crab legs were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The meal came with a potato and corn and there was nothing left at the end of the meal. $4 8oz seafood gumbo was a bit salty, but delicious. I'd say this is a great hole in the wall place! I was pet sitting in the area and was craving crawfish, this was one of the spots that had great reviews, and with good reason. My husband and I were acknowledged right away and were told to sit anywhere. We ordered their Vietnamese egg rolls and 6lbs of crawfish (garlic butter, spicy) their egg rolls were great, just your typical pork and veggies, but it was seasoned well, I wish they were bigger lol. Their crawfish came out nice and hot, definitely spicy and excellent flavor it's still the beginning of the season but they were a pretty good size. I also did overhear the waiter tell another party about the different flavors (garlic butter, cajun, and lemon pepper) he said that the garlic butter was more of a "wet" seasoning and popular, but he also said you're able to mix all three so I'll have to take that recommendation next time because it didn't seem like that table had any complaints when they received their order! I also appreciate how attentive their staff is, they come over and clear out your bowls of shells when it seems to be getting full and acknowledge when you're needing a refill on your beverage. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Vietnamese crawfish or just Vietnamese food in general, I'll have to come to try other things on the menu outside of crawfish season! read more

If you order seafood, bring a scale with you because they'll shortchange you. I ordered crawfish and it felt lighter than expected. My order came with fillers (potatoes and corn, which I didn't order) to make up the weight. Although the crawfish had good flavor, their dishonesty left a bad taste. I spoke with a colleague who ate there recently. She said the same thing about getting less food than expected. So, buyer beware! read more

I've only ordered to go but the inside of the restaurant looks pretty clean. The garlic sauce they use is highly addictive, it's sweet and it makes you want to eat mounds of it. The mussels and clams are my favorite, the crawfish is good too!! The snow crab is okay, I'm not the biggest fan so my opinion may not mean anything. But I will always return for everything else. read more

Great crawfish place! I ordered 6 lbs of mild with my sister with corn. It was great in flavor. Mild wasnt crazy spicy and good to handle with a kick. I loved it and ordered the spicy a few days later. Omg this really kicked me in the butt! The flavor was suppper spicy and addicting. I was quite teary and had to take a break from eating before i could finish my 3 lbs of spicy crawfish. My sister couldnt finish her mild 3 obs and left it for 2 days later. It was so spicy afterwards and quite delicious. Leaving it for 2 days to soak up the sauce actually gave it a good middle spicy that was manageable. I definitely want to order again and try their crab and oysters! Cant wait to order again soon! read more

Anyone can say whatever about this place, but hands down this is my favorite place for crawfish and oysters! Each time we order oysters, SWEAR it is always super clean like it should be! No gritty-ness and good size! I'm obsessed with their grilled oysters! I normally opt for raw oysters bc grilled oysters have a weird texture and taste, but the way they grill is to perfection! Not overly cooked, and full of FLAVORS! Crawfish is amazing too! We always order the house spicy garlic. Spicy is pretty hot... but soooooo goood!!! Medium dosnt cut it... we tried to get medium bc we kept complaining how spicy it was... but it wasn't the same. So stick to the spicy if you can handle it! read more

It's easy to miss this place but it's in a quaint little shopping center and the outside exterior is not so pretty. Walking in, they sat us down immediately and there was no wait. Cool! We ordered 5lbs crawfish and 4lbs snowcrab in spicy garlic butter, the shrimp fried rice, a dozen of the raw and a dozen of the grilled oysters. Boiled foods: amazing!! The crawfish is good sized and is medium to large, even though it's later in the crawfish season. The bag personally to me looked like it was a weak 5 pounds of crawfish so I'm not sure if they weigh in the corn and potatoes in there. The snow crab meat didn't slide off so I think it was a little over cooked. Either way, it was really good because the sauce was sooo yummy! Fried rice: pretty solid because it has crawfish and shrimp in it. The grilled shrimp on top is amazing and you can't go wrong with it. Oysters: also, delicious!! No grittiness, just nice and smooth. The grilled oysters were AMMAAAAAZZIZNNGGGG and I usually don't like grilled oysters because they taste too dry. They were perfect. I did burn my finger picking it up so be careful! All in all, it was pretty good food. It is quite pricy but it is well worth it for how full we were. Yum! read more

We went today to eat around 8pm and saw that they had great reviews and excellent food pic. We walked in and got a table pretty fast. The service was a bit slow and getting refills was challenging. My friend ordered boil shrimp 2LBs and I ordered 2LBS of crawfish. Just seemed less than other places when I order two Lbs. The garlic mild is a bit more spicy than I expected. Well now it is 1:27am and we got food poisoning. My friend is up still sick and going to the bathroom often from the food she ate there. Painful stomach ache and bathroom visits since we ate there. We were hoping that the high rating was a good indication of fresh and good food. Unfortunately we were mistaken. read more

This place is soooo good. I'm already ready for crawfish season. I hate going to different crawfish joints, because a lot of places can't compare. The spicy garlic is sooo good here, I've been trying to duplicate the sauce but I can't. Pssstt tell me your secrets La Spicy lol jk.. They also sell buckets of beers for people who want to eat/drink here with friends. I'm such a regular to the spot that the servers know my face. Came to this place because I heard it was good from my friend just to find that the menu is the exact same as the menu at New La Boil (owned by the same family) which is one of my favorite crawfish places up north, however, the price of the crawfish and oysters is noticeably higher than that of New La Boil unless they have changed their prices this season. Crawfish is 7.99 and a dozen oysters is 14.99, where new La boil sold grilled oysters for 14.99 and crawfish for 5.99. I'll have to verify if they are still selling at those prices this season because I haven't been yet. Otherwise the crawfish and fried seafood are very good and the service was great. read more

Excellent service whether dining in or just ordering for carry-out. Normal hot spot for crawfish season. They've never messed up an order once. Their portions are huge and the staff is very friendly. I'd highly recommend the place to anyone looking for a great small place to enjoy seafood. Parking is a bit problematic, but the turnover is so quick that you'll be able to find a spot in no time. They share parking with a big business strip. NOTE: Not to be confused with LA Crawfish. This establishment looks to be family owned and very well operated. read more

Online says they close at 10, but I took it upon myself to call just to be sure. No one answered so I drive 30 minutes to get here making it around 9:35 just for them to say they were closed. It's extremely unprofessional especially since I see customer still walking in to grab food. A simple answer of the phone could have prevented me from wasting my time and gas! read more

This creates an ideal environment for Bacillus cereus, a bacterium that produces toxin causing food poisoning. I got the migas because I love migas. It came with fried potatoes and refried beans. My mom got the caldo. We could hear and see them actually making our food and when it came out it was piping hot with steam coming off of it. They also make homemade tortillas. Yummy. We will definitely go back.
