we order eggrolls which were amazing! The nachos were piled up and we like steak so it was plenty!

Jermey our waiter was great explaining the menu and giving us insight on all the deals! M-F specials/ Happy Hour 3-6pm ( $2 off appetizers, and $4-8 on selected drinks. Food was so good, I should've taken a photo prior. We order eggs rolls and pile of steak nachos

A friend recommended this place, so we stopped by for lunch. The service was wonderful, and Jacqueline answered all my questions about the menu. We love chimichangas and had to try them here. The portions were generous, so we needed a to-go box. The decor was nice, and we chose to sit in the dining room area, which was quiet and relaxing. The kids enjoyed picking out a toy from La Ristra Express box before we left. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

We had a great lunch at La Ristra today everything from the food to the service was fantastic! Carlo's was so wonderful he treated this place like he owned the place and Tatum was very sweet as well . We will definitely make this a regular spot for sure!

We saw this as an option for Arizona Restaurant Week and thought they looked good, and we were right! Chips and queso were fantastic, and serving of queso was gigantic. I really enjoyed my blue corn enchilada, the rice, beans, and beef were all excellent. Our server was very personable, and will definitely be back to check out the rest of the menu.

Brought the family here as we were talking about other great authentic New Mexican restaurants in the east valley. I had been here & to the sister location in Chandler a few times with coworkers/friends so wanted them to try out. The variety of tequilas are always a discussion point for us adults and I went with the seasonal Witches Brew Black Berry Margarita. I'm typically not a big fan of Jose Cuervo, but I did notice it was there Tradicional Reposado being used and that is one I can do. The 3 salsa's to start were good, however the chips we got seemed be the bottom of the stash as they were small pieces and made it hard to really enjoy the salsas. We did request another round and some fresh chips and that came right at the same time for our entrees. We had the Birria Tacos with rice and beans, Green Chile Asada Burrito "Christmas style" aka red & green sauce (my choice and it was GREAT as far as portion & flavor profile). 3 Shrimp & Avocado Tacos (recommended if your looking for a hint of seafood for dinner). Last item was a traditional Asada Burrito. It was noted that the meat was tender & good. This location is a bit far for me vs the chandler one, but I'm planning to keep in rotation as I want to check out some of the Happy Hour Specials and events they host. Ladies Night on Thursday had a few of my friends interested & Sat/Sun $20 Unlimited Mimosa Brunch from 10am-2pm may be the right way to kick of a weekend of College or NFL Football!

I went here with my daughter because a coworker of her husband recommended it. The atmosphere is casual and they have a pretty decent selection of meals. They start you off with 3 different salsas for your chips (which were warm...NICE!) I went with the shrimp tacos. It had good flavor and good sauce. Our server forgot to ask us for drinks, but I'm guessing it was because it was a little busy, so I can't really fault her for that. Otherwise we got our meals relatively quick. Price for 3 people wasn't bad. I'll probably give them another shot if I'm in the area again.

LA Ristra, Gilbert, AZ - A Fiesta for Your Taste Buds (and Your Instagram Feed) Reviewed on February 19, 2025 If you're looking for a dining experience that's as bold and spicy as a desert sunset, LA Ristra in Gilbert, AZ, has got you covered--literally, with enough melted cheese to make a queso volcano jealous. I recently sat down to a plate that looked like it jumped straight out of a Tex-Mex fever dream, and I'm still dreaming about it (or maybe that's just the lingering kick of their salsa). The star of the show? A mouthwatering dish featuring a hearty chunk of tender meat, smothered in a rich, red chile sauce and draped with enough gooey cheese to make any carb-lover weep with joy. It's the kind of dish that demands a tortilla on the side--not just for scooping, but for soaking up every last drop of that flavor-packed sauce. Paired with a side of cheesy veggies (zucchini, corn, and potatoes, if I'm not mistaken), it's a symphony of Southwestern goodness that'll have you questioning why you ever settled for plain ol' tacos. The atmosphere at LA Ristra screams "authentic yet approachable"--think rustic wooden tables, warm vibes, and a menu that doesn't shy away from heat but knows how to balance it with cool, creamy toppings. Service was as friendly as a neighbor at a backyard barbecue, and the portions? Generous enough to fuel a desert trek--or at least a siesta afterward. Pro tip: Save room for their chips and salsa--they're dangerously addictive, like a spicy siren song you can't resist. If I had one nitpick, it'd be the wait time during peak hours, but trust me, it's worth it for a plate that looks this photogenic and tastes even better. LA Ristra isn't just a meal; it's a celebration of flavor. Five stars for making me question my life choices--namely, why I don't eat here every day. Olé!

Wonderful refreshing Mexican food with a NM flare. So good! Serve was very friendly and the ambiance was great. Nice stone walls and art

Blue Corn Stacked Enchiladas (with sides of rice and black beans)
    Lillian F.

Came for date night - we've never had "New Mexican" before, so take the review with a grain of salt. We started with blue corn and white corn tortilla chips and a trio of salsas of ranging spice levels--all were good. We also ordered a frozen house marg and a spicy marg on the rocks; both were delicious but on the sweet side and could've used a little extra alcohol. The service was fast and the server was friendly. For food, my partner ordered the Adovada Short Ribs and I ordered the Blue Corn Stacked Enchiladas (with shredded chicken, Christmas style, with sides of rice and black beans). The short ribs had great texture and flavor, but the sides were meh. The flour tortilla in particular just wasn't good - comparing it to grocery store tortillas, it was better (but close) to the shelf-stable ones, which are light years behind the uncooked ones. The enchiladas were good but it was all very similar textures and flavors, which made the overall experience very average. Not "bad" in any way, but not worth doing again.

I'm disappointed in the Hatch chiles I got this year. I ordered extra-hot, but very few of the 50 pounds were x-hot.

Ask the Community - La Ristra

I see vegan options listed in their yelp description but can't match anything on the menu. Are there vegan options beyond salsa, guacamole and salad?

Yes. There is a separate vegan menu, you can order from. It's not shown on the website.

Do they have a back room or similar for big parties (ten to fifteen guests) that want a little more space? If so, is there a minimum order for that room/area?

There is a side room next to the main dining room that appears to be flexible for larger parties. No notice on menu so I would recommend calling the restaurant and inquiring about reserving that space for your group.

I can't log into their website. Just keep getting a godaddy commercial. What's up?

Loging in is for La Ristra employees. Suggest that you call. Their menu is awesome. Ask for a Cadillac Margarita with an extra splash of orange juice. Perfection.

Probably not going back to Dick's…read more.. We were visiting both Phoenix and Scottsdale with friends and decided to meet up at Dick's Hideaway for dinner after hearing good things. There were six of us, and we were quoted a 45-minute wait, which seemed reasonable at first. However, their system for managing waits is honestly pretty frustrating. There are no reservations, no text notifications, and no call when your table is ready. You're basically left hovering and guessing. We did make it back in time for our table, but a simple "hey, your table's ready" system would go a long way in making guests feel valued. We were seated around 8 PM after waiting and taken to a large corner booth in the back. Unfortunately, there were still two people from the previous party lingering at the table even after they had paid and the rest of their group had already left. I understand finishing drinks, but it felt inconsiderate given how busy the restaurant was and how long people were waiting. After being seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and even then, not everyone in our group was acknowledged right away. Things didn't improve much from there. It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order. From what we could tell, there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. I can definitely empathize with how difficult that must be, but at the same time, when we first arrived, she appeared to be standing near the entrance rather than actively managing tables, which added to the confusion. When the food finally came out, it was very staggered instead of arriving together. I ordered the Taos tenderloin with green beans and fries. The sides were actually great--probably the highlight of the meal--but the steak itself was disappointing. I ordered it medium, but it came out with an overly charred, almost burnt crust that completely overpowered the flavor. The whole dish really needed basic seasoning like salt and pepper to bring it together. The atmosphere also didn't do much to help the experience. It's extremely dark inside--so much so that it's hard to see your food--and the space feels cramped. The layout is also pretty strange and honestly a bit off-putting. There's what appears to be a kitchen area right behind the bar, and then a full kitchen in the back--but what really stood out was the lack of separation near the restroom area. There's no proper door between the kitchen and the bathroom space, and from a small step down off the dining area, you can basically see straight into the kitchen if you wanted to. It just didn't feel very private or well thought out. Another thing that stood out was the portion sizes. While some people might see that as a positive, they were honestly too large--especially for those of us traveling who couldn't take leftovers with us. Slightly smaller portions might not only reduce waste but also help the kitchen keep up with demand and improve overall service speed. Overall, this ended up being more of a one-time experience than a place we'd return to. Between the disorganized wait system, slow and inconsistent service, and underwhelming food, it just didn't live up to the expectations we had going in.

Much to our dismay, the restaurant was closed to focus on catering. Luckily, though, It reopens for pop-ups. This morning I saw an Instagram post announcing that there would be a brunch pop up today, so we got up and got ready to go. It really is tucked away in the corner of plaza and goodbye Safeway. Inside is a small dining room with a bar, and through the rolling doors is a patio with outdoor seating. You can see the kitchen through the plexiglass divider, and there is bar seating along the divider so you can watch the cooking. There's a great, colorful mural on one wall and some fun lighting fixtures and art. Today's pop up was packed when we arrived. We grabbed the last two chairs which were on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The menu had seven choices. Of course we ordered two different things so we could share, but we skipped cocktails. We ordered: *Steak chilaquiles Christmas style (both red and green chile) served with a side of beans and talked with an egg *Green chili pork hash served with a side of beans talked with an egg Both were delicious! We both ordered scrambled eggs, and I'm pretty sure it was more than an egg. I'm not sure how they cook those eggs but they were the best ever. The pinto beans had green chili in it and was so good. I'm from New Mexico, and these tasted like the beans that you rarely find outside of New Mexico. The steak on my chilaquiles was really good - - thin sliced and tender. I was able to easily cut it with just a butter knife. The pork in the hash was so yummy. What are scrumptious brunch! It was nice to sit overlooking the kitchen, as it was quite a show to watch the chef. I was amazed at how over easy eggs were tossed and caught in the pan without the yolks breaking. Heck, I can't even flip eggs with a spatula without breaking the yolk! Anytime I've overlooked a chef cooking, I'm totally in awe of their amazing skills, and this was no different. I really recommend Tucked Away, just as I did when it was a regular restaurant. Follow them on Instagram to be alerted to pop ups. You won't regret it!
