Passed by this place a hundred times and never noticed it! Yelp research, and here we are. First the good: chips were fresh and salsa was flavorful. Wife really liked her chicken flautas, rice and beans. Not at all spicy, and that's her preference. I had the 3 entree combo, tamale, taco, enchilada. Beef tamale was okay. Taco was packed full of shredded beef, pretty good. Now the not as good parts: My beef enchilada was barely warm, tortilla still tough and chewy. Beans were average at best, same for the rice. Got a side of calabacitas. Mostly corn, little if any squash. Not bad, but seemed uncooked. Restaurant itself seemed a bit tired and dreary. Service was fine, no problem. Prices are reasonable, they don't skimp on the meat. Not a bad place, I see how many people are pleased with it. I just didn't come away anxious to return. read more

I tried this place for the first time on a Friday night. We actually went to the downtown Chandler one first but it was so busy we decided to come to this location. So glad we did. It was way less busy. First off, our server was so good. My friend can be a little extra and he was so kind and accommodating. The food was awesome. I don't have New Mexican food often but my friend is from NM and she really loves that style of food. So you know that if she thought it was good and authentic that it must be. We tried some of the more popular dishes and were very happy with our choices. The food was flavorful, well-prepared and spot on with the spice level for my taste. Also if you like sangria and margaritas you should get the sangrita. It's a perfect mix of both. The only thing I didn't care for was that we were seated pretty close to the live music. The band was good but it was a bit loud for such a small restaurant and it made it hard for me to hear or have a conversation. What a pity. when other customers say that this place has gone downhill, believe them. Almost no chile on the enchiladas, and I cook with blue corn tortillas all the time, that was not blue corn. It was white corn with maybe a little bit of blue corn and food coloring. Blue corn has a distinct flavor and that was not there. Sopapilla was barely cooked, doughy, flavorless. Green chile stew has beans and corn in it!! That's not happening in New Mexico. That's a restaurant trying to use a filler. I couldn't really taste the flavor of the green chile in the stew. Their XXX Chile is more mild than the medium we bring back from Gilly's Chile in hatch- but they're going to charge you for it! They use chipotle or something in the red chile- kills the flavor- plus they are cutting it with tomato. This is not NM red chile. It's Mexican, kind of, and fusion at that, because Mexican red chile uses Guajillo Chile. And there's a BIG difference. NM chile has a distinct flavor, and is particularly high in L glutamate, like a natural MSG, that's why it's so addicting. What they are serving here, you will never find in New Mexico. Ordered a skinny margarita double for $11, and they used a premade mix which I will tell you is insanely sweet- nothing skinny about it. Refused to make one by hand with higher quality ingredients. So I sent it back, and said this is a hangover waiting to happen, asked for a double shot of patron with lime juice and a splash of Cointreau, that's it. they bring back a tall glass, and they've added soda water to it. it wasn't sprite, but I didn't want anything else. By this point I could feel my face already starting to puff up from the two sips of the last drink they brought me with cheap ingredients. charged me $22 for the new drink. I could've bought an entire bottle of patron silver for $18 at Fry's. Restaurant was filthy, bathrooms were filthy, my husband saw grime all over his bathroom, blinds were dirty. crayon marks all over the walls, which I'm pretty sure we saw there last time and no one's bothered to clean. Our poor waiter, he did such a good job, it's the restaurant. Unfortunately, we won't be back. Definitely recommend going to Rokerij instead!! Oh, and before you buy that $50 Ristra by the hostess stand, just know that that same Ristra is going to be no more than $15 in New Mexico. This restaurant is clearly changed its priorities to capitalize on just an image of a cuisine that is steeped in tradition and flavor, and tragically adulterating it. Sorry La Ristra! Great authentic New Mexican food. I've been here a couple of times and it has never disappointed. My favorite app is queso and chorizo dip, a must get! The green chile chicken casserole, rellenos dinner, and of course enchiladas are delicious. If you are getting any dish smothered in sauce try it Christmas style. If you know you know, but if you don't, this just means you get both green and red chile sauce. Their sopapillas are so fluffy , soft, and delicious. They have really good brunch options and happy hour. You get complimentary chips and three different types of salsa. Service has always been good. Came here for a birthday dinner with family. There were 9 of us and the service was very good. I loved my stuffed sopapilla with green chile pork- delicious! One person got the carne asada burrito and didn't really like the consistency of the beef but others liked the enchiladas and the tacos. I wish they had bigger servings of the salsa. Information for those purchasing their dozen frozen tamales. I'm not sure if they make these on site or order them and someone brings them in. What I'm finding is that they are sloppily put together. Some of the corn husks had virtually nothing in them while others were regular size. If you're ordering a dozen be prepared that almost half there will be a sliver of hardly anything inside that husk. I thought the flavor was decent but I won't be purchasing again because the portions are not consistent and it's really disappointing when you expect to have a tamale and there's nothing there. read more

Went into a nearly empty restaurant at noon for "Taco Tuesday". Waited at the front counter for nearly 15 minutes until I was greeted. Took a seat and waited another 8 minutes in a nearly empty (2 tables). When the waitress came, said I just wanted the taco special and that was it. 30 minutes later, I got the tacos and then got them to go as I had to get back to work. Told the waitress I thought they must be understaffed as the delay was so great, she said "they had been real busy prior to me coming in (?!?)" Unreal. At least I know why the restaurant was empty. Tacos were okay, not great, not terrible. Avoid like everyone else is. read more

Honestly,this place was Meh. I hate saying that too. My daughter recommended it so we brought my SIL while she was visiting and it wasn't anything to write home about. Hubby had chicken enchiladas, just ok he said. I had street corn in a bowl which was fantastic, I'll give them that. But I didn't like my polenta at all! And my SIL had chicken something or other that also was nothing special. It doesn't help when you've spent some time in NM and have had truly authentic food there. So a little unfair comparison. It didn't help that there was a large family with screaming young children and the adults were just as loud due to some type of liquid grain. They honestly were so loud we couldn't hear each other even leaning over the table. We finally gave up and left early w/ leftovers (dog got mine). Lastly, the service was also blah. The staff wasn't friendly at all, so another downer to the evening. I really can't think of anything to recommend about it. Very disappointed that I can't. read more

Was really happy to find this place. The setting and menu is New Mexico through and through. Without actually visiting the State , they do a great job of creating authentic New Mexico flavors. The atmosphere was clean quiet and welcoming. The service was top notch. We had the stuffed sopapillas, a cheese crisp and an enchilada plate The cheese crisp arrived piping hot with cheddar and jack cheese melted over a crisp very large flour tortilla ... it was scrumptious. The other dishes were top notch as well each with its own red chili profile. This is definitely a place we will return to. read more

Went here on 11/9/2025 as it was recommended by someone we know. When we arrived it wasn't very busy. We felt a bit uncomfortable because the waitress didn't seem very familiar with the menu which made it harder to get recommendations or feel confident about what we were ordering. My friend ordered the combo plate and I order the street taco plate. On the street tacos tortillas tasted stale and fell apart when bent. The black beans had no flavor almost a dumped out of can topped with cheese look/taste. Just gross. The rice was heavily salted. I ordered a virgin margarita for fun but when it came out it tasted like it had alcohol in it. I do not drink alcohol due to health reasons so this didn't help. When questioned the waitress look at her computer and said that she ordered the virgin one not ever verifying it. I took two sips and couldn't stomach it. My friend also sampled it and said that they could also taste alcohol. We weren't checked on until close to the end of our meal. No question as to why the "virgin" margarita was still sitting there. When the check came I wasn't shown an itemized list just told a price and then shown the tip page (tip recommendations include the tax charged to you for the meal-so shady). A receipt is then printed after the fact. We had a play to get to so we decided best to go and chalk it up to a bad restaurant. Not a great experience and won't go back. read more

We tried this place because the menu featured a lot of gluten free options or so we thought. Many Items have a "GF" by the item. I suggested LA Ristra for lunch to a couple friends. One of them has celiac and cannot tolerate gluten, not even a little. After being seated she asked the waitress about the possibility of cross contamination. The waitress told her that they use the same fryers for everything and that they are considered "gluten friendly" not gluten free. I wish that distinction would have been made on the menu or website. It made for a very limited menu for her. So right off the bat they loose a star. My choice was a stuffed sopapilla. A sopapilla is fried bread dough stuffed with your choice of meat and covered in enchilada sauce and topped with cheese. My meat choice was chili colorado. This is beef simmered in chili sauce. It came with 2 sides. I got rice and pinto beans. The enchilada sauce I chose was the spicy green hatch chili sauce. My food was out in a reasonable amount of time. My sopapilla was very good. I could cut it with a fork edge. That's how tender the meat was. The enchilada sauce was spicy, but did not overpower the chili colorado. There were generous portions of rice and beans. I would love to come back here, just not with someone with a gluten intolerance read more

Stopped in to LA Ristra on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with friends. One of our friends has celiac and needs to have strict gluten free. The menu is very misleading because they claim there are gluten free options, BUT, once questioned about it, we came to find our thatthey are not truly gluten free. They fry everything in the same fryers and no indication that there wouldn't be any cross contamination of the fresh items either. It's a good thing my friend asked or she would have been really sick! So if you need gluten free due to celiac or an allergy then beware! Other than that, I ordered the beer batterd fish tacos with a side of corn and rice. A short time after ordering our food came out and there were three small fish tacos and a generous portion each of the corn and rice. The tacos were topped with shredded lettuce, cheese and a sauce. The first bites were good, but then something became very spicy. I wasn't sure if the spiciness came from the tacos, corn or rice. Overall the experience was good, food and service. We will be back to try otheritems on the menu. read more

I enjoyed our visit here. We were given hot chips upon arrival, which is served with 3 types of salsa, mild, medium and hot (the green one is hot). The service was prompt and friendly, and the food arrived hot and fresh. I had the chilaquiles with chili colorado, egg over-medium (but it arrived over-easy). My husband had the carne asada burrito with a side of roasted corn and french fries. He said the meat was very good and enjoyed his corn and fresh fries, too. The husband ordered coffee with his meal, which was strong, fresh and hot, just like he likes it. I ordered a blended margarita (no salt). It arrived and tasted wonderful, although it did arrive with salt on the rim. It wasn't weak on alcohol either. The only thing preventing 5 stars is the place could use some updating and thorough cleaning. Our table was sticky and the upholstery was dirty. If this place was updated and cleaned, it would be a definite 5 stars in my book. read more
