This pizza parlor (does anyone use that term anymore?!) has been going strong for decades…read more To be honest I was always partial to Nino's III in Kearny - much closer to where I used to live and their chicken-and-broccoli slice was a thing of beauty. (I believe Nino's II existed for a quick moment up there in North Arlington but my memory ain't what it used to be.) After driving past (the original) Nino's on the way home from work for the last few months I realized I was overdue for a visit. First thing: from the outside it looks a bit weathered but inside? It's vibrant and lively and eased my initial concerns. (As soon as I walked in at the very first table was a little kid and his abuela. He made it a point to interact with me coming and leaving and that kid made my day... he's getting 5-stars for being awesome!) As for the pizza... it's a respectable "large" - they ain't skimping, which is a nice change of pace. (Hats off to the pizzaiolo because it wasn't a true/normal/expected circle but something closer to a Reuleaux triangle mixed with a squircle.) Geometry aside... the pie tasted good. Nothing flashy or fancy - just a legit (thin) pie. The (steak) fries were a bit bland and boring, I can't lie. And their cavatelli and broccoli was... decent. It would've benefited from a bit more 'pop' (salt, olive oil, garlic, you name it.) I haven't been here in eons and I hope they'll be around for another 40-something-years. Worth mentioning: it's one of the very few pizzerias to have a liquor license. (I'd definitely come back again for the not-so-perfectly-round pizza but would pass on the fries and pasta...)

The pepperoni and Sicilian slices were particularly impressive, and I would even say this is the best Sicilian pizza I've ever had. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty pizza experience. Left me questioning if it was really cauliflower crust. lol. The eggplant wasn't as soft as I like it but still good. Nice selection of beer and wine. Overall positive experience and looking forward to visiting Ah Pizz again.

On Yelp it says cash only, but they do take cards as well. Just a major FYI for people like me that never have cash on hand. Everything was ready to go when I got there. Super efficient and everyone was very nice. Excellent service. We got the Bolognese Pie and if course the Buffalo Chicken for the kid. Plus I had to try the Meatball parm with Vodka sauce and some zeppoles for later on. The Bolognese pie was out of this world. The meat sauce was excellent and the crust wasn't too thick or doughy. When I saw it, I was skeptical but after the first bite, all doubt disappeared. The Buffalo Chicken looked amazing but I didn't have a piece. My son said it was on the top of his list. The meatball parm with Vodka sauce was average. I wouldn't get it again but it was decent. Ending with the Zeppoles was the perfect finish. The pizzas are the real deal and that's what I suggest everyone orders if you stop by.

"You won't want to cook anymore" he tells us a bit later. He's not wrong. I had the fish special, cod, served puttanesca, with mash potatoes and spinach. He had the rigatoni bolognese. Perfectly cooked pasta. "Everything is homemade," Angelo explained later. Smart and fairly well-priced wine list. We asked why the 2020 Carparzo Brunello di Montalcino was so low priced, and learned the wine has been priced the same since their father closed their Upper East Side location and the kids opened in Newark. "New York food at NJ prices," Angelo explained. "I've never had tiramisu I've liked better", husband told me. "I've never had flan Ive liked better" I told him. (It is coconut flan.) Great service. Wonderful spot. And Bon Jovi has been in twice, most recently he brought his wife. Enough said.

Backed by celebrity investors like LeBron James and Maria Shriver, the concept is an assembly-line approach to customizable artisanal-style pies. Think Chipotle, but make it pizza. Personal sized, thin crust pizza (6 slices) is built right in front of you in an open kitchen, then fired in an oven for 3 minutes. You can finish things off with drizzles of various sauces or a handful of arugula if you fancy extra embellishment. Choose a signature pie or build your own - I love that you can have any toppings for one flat price. For the allergen or diet conscious: gluten-free, cauli, and keto crusts are all available alongside the original and high-rise doughs. We also tried the protein-zza, a California-style chicken & veggie pizza made with cauliflower crust. I was fully prepared to be smug about detecting the alternative crust, but couldn't tell the difference at all. It was generously loaded with toppings, and the roasted garlic really made the taste pop. Fresh, vibrant flavors all around. We went on a Sunday so it wasn't too crowded and service was swift, and the pizzas came out beautifully. For a quick-serve franchise, this place delivered high-performance pies that defied my expectations.

May 2026 Monthly meeting of the I.P.A. (International Police Association) Newark Region 48…read more This month's meeting brought us to Kearny, NJ at Mr. Nino's III Brick Oven Trattoria. We've been here before so we knew we were in for a great meal, super friendly and welcoming service, and we were not disappointed. Owner, Andraino, made sure our group of 28 members were made to feel at home in his establishment. Kudos also to our server, Dianna, who managed to handle our group with great expertise. The meal was excellent, from the opening appetizers of bruschetta, antipasto, fried calamari, garlic knots, and a highly recommended pizza. This was followed by perfectly prepared Al Dente penne pasta in a creamy, tasty vodka sauce, with fresh garlic bread on the side. The highlight was yet to come with my entree choice of Shrimp Diavolo. The ample serving of shrimp clearly lived up to the dishes name with tender, succulent shrimp, simmered in a fiery, garlicky tomato sauce. This dish had just the right kick and I just had to sop up most of that sauce with the aforementioned bread. Other entrees included Chicken or Shrimp Parm, Chicken Francese, Shrimp Scampi, and Chicken Murphy. All the dishes were ample and reportedly delicious. Of course, assorted desserts and Cappuccino, Espresso, or Coffee finished off a wonderful meal. I should mention Mr. Nino's III Brick Oven Trattoria is a BYOB, and I had no problem finding a parking spot in the lot across the street. Thank you to Andraino and his fantastic staff for making our meeting a memorable event. If you haven't been to Mr. Nino's III, do yourself a favor, stop by and give them a try. 05/05/2026
