    Roaches and visible excrement
    Kristen T.

This gentleman or lack of gentleman is highly highly dangerous! He assaulted me with a pizza box. He threw at me with full force, as well as hot grease, went all over my dress body and caused severe burns, which I will have investigated. I'm currently at the police, and he stopped me and followed me to the police station where I am filing a report. He's now lying to them and saying it's untrue. Beware!! Additionally, it's extremely filthy inside this place I saw visible carcasses of cockroaches and extensive dirty problems on the floor. They need to have their permit for food revoked if they even have one! Very unclean and disgusting services that allow their weight staff to agitate, dust and debris that they're sweeping up or someone is putting toppings on their pizzas! I reported my concern about that, and he told me to fuck off and threw a pizza box at me full of hot pizza, fresh out of the oven

Nice neighborhood Italian restaurant on Washington Ave in Belleville across from Town Hall. One side pizzeria and other side restaurant. Service was excellent! Enjoyed the firecracker calamari. Lentil soup was homemade. Had rigatoni with shrimp, good size but just ok. Cappuccino was great.

Food: 4 stars Service: 2.5/3 I came here for my mom's birthday. We were a group of 12. We asked to do split checks and right after that we got unfriendly vibes. After sitting for a bit the waitress asked us what we wanted very abruptly, in a demanding way. None of us were ready and we felt pressured. I got fettuccini Alfredo which was good. Everyone else seemed to enjoy there food too. We never got asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. We had one main server and 2 others helping her. The servers would try to take plates away without asking if we were done. The main server was very unfriendly and rarely smiled the other two were nicer. Overall we didn't feel very welcomed and the main server wasn't pleasant. The food was good but isn't worth coming back considering the service.

    Veal & Shrimp Francese

One of our go to Pizzeria/Restaurants. Food is always excellent and their sauce is authentic. We are regulars and always treated well by the waitresses here. The restaurant is split in half with both a casual and a more formal dining area. On this visit we had one of my favorites, Veal and Shrimp Francese. This dish is always amazing and I feel one of the best Francese sauces I have ever eaten. Veal is tender and the shrimp is on point. My wife had the Eggplant Rollatini which she loved and once again the sauce is delicious. We love to come here. It's friendly, cozy, the food is great and it's a BYOB.

NEVER ordering from here again. We found *WORMS* in our fish!!! I wasn't even sure what I was pulling out of the flounder, I had to google it. I can't believe this. Disgusting

Not impressed at all.. my husband and I moved to the area last year and are still trying to find good spots to eat. We ordered fettuccine alfredo, penne vodka & a cannoli. The only positive of our meal was that it came piping HOT. Everything else was a disaster. Both pastas were seriously overcooked. The alfredo sauce was separated and really greasy. The vodka sauce didn't even look like vodka sauce. The chicken was supposed to be grilled but seemed like it was just chicken fingers cut up into pieces. Cannoli had a bitter aftertaste. 40 bucks wasted. Do not recommend.

BYOB!!! (wish I had read this before coming, I had some awesome pumpkin ale at home-this should be a selection in the alcohol checkboxes below) As you find a seat at the long family style tables at La Sicilia, you will find locals who obviously know that this is the place to be for Italian food and pizza in Essex County. The wafting aroma of garlic and tomatoes, the photos of a young Frank Sinatra and other NJ legends who seemed to have dined here, the ubiquitous sign of any NJ Italian gastronomical landmark: the Sopranos cast members photos, all of these things put you right at ease, even before the fabulous food is set down at your table. There is something about this place that reminds me of a family event or two that Ive been to where the tables were long, family gathered around, a never ending parade of food.. yea, this place is it. Don't expect white gloved tuxedo-ed waiters and china here- this IS a pizzeria; and what a pizzeria it is. Ive been here once so far, and I feel as if I should be in my car right now on my way back, it is SO good here. On recommendation of Yelpers here, I shared the Palermo pie here with my brother Geoff- I am SO glad I did. Words fail to describe the experience but I will try. The pie is a relatively thin crust Sicilian pie unlike anything I have ever had. Its like a cross between a grandmas pie and a Sicilian pie, but OH so much more. Its thin crust snaps under slight pressure from your bite, softly padded above by fresh mozzarella directly above, then a fresh, super garlic-y sauce with fresh herbs on top. Its like a normal pizza in reverse order- dough, cheese, sauce. And how fantastic it is. I heard some complain one way or another about this pie, but all I can say is- do not listen to them. What MAY make some complain is if they took this pie home or delivered it. ANY pizza that is not eaten DIRECTLY FROM THE OVEN will SUCK if eaten any other way. Pizza is like art found in nature: its temporary, fleeting- to be enjoyed for that moment like a snowflake on a windshield, a sunset, wisps of clouds, lightning in the sky... I can wax poetic all day about this pizza- it is THAT GOOD! We took two cannoli home as well, an hour or more after us demolishing this pie between two people, we braved the cannoli, and OMG is what I have to say- fresh crisp shells overflowing with fresh fine sweetened whole milk ricotta cheese, delicately flavored with orange and rose water? Grandma would approve. Now all I have to do is get my mom and grandma over here next time so they can experience this too. I must return to try more of this menu- these guys are the real deal, and I'm happy that they are only a town or two over from me.

Guy seemed overwhelmed and reluctantly took my order. I showed up 30 min later and no one had any record of my order. I recognized the guy's voice and told him he took my order. He was pissed and got into a shouting match with me with 3 other customers around. He eventually apologized and offered a free side of meatballs and spaghetti (don't order that btw, super underwhelming). 2nd time: Wife placed an order for a pie with half pepperoni on their website. Came back with the order and the pie had full toppings. Small nit but annoying. 3rd time: I called at 6pm on a Thursday. No one picked up. Opted to place order on their website and got the same item as last time. Showed up at and the same miserable guy asked for my name and order... and then said he didn't have any order. I told him I placed an order on the website... and he said "You should have called." with an awful (only a mother can love) grin. I showed him my email confirming 6:20pm pickup time and he said he had no order... before pulling a pie with my name on it. I asked if it had half pepperoni and it didn't. Full toppings AGAIN. Clearly, their website is not equipped to actually take half toppings orders. Pizza is OK but not worth the headache or poor service here.

We spotted Blue Steel which had good, modern curb appeal to our hungry tummies. It looks like downtown Bloomfield is having a moment with some new condos and nicer restaurants coming in. Thanks, gentrification!? Inside has a clubby, bar vibe and we were seated at a hightop near the bar. I love a good wedge salad. I prefer the classic but I appreciate BSP's variation that has tomato, cucumbers, crispy frizzled onions, feta cheese, homemade ranch dressing, and everything sprinkle seasoning. It was generously sized and refreshing. And there's nothing but good things to say about the Detroit-style ezzo pepperoni pie, except that i wish I had a bigger stomach to eat MORE. After the salad (shared), I was only able to manage one slice, but it was a happy slice. My first time trying Detroit-style and it didn't disappoint. PS: There's a tiny, very lumpy and bumpy parking lot in the back that is very tricky to maneuver back out of. If it hadn't been for an Uber driver who got briefly trapped back in there with me, I might still be there today

New Jersey is known for many things, but pizza is perhaps the largest source of debate. There is no…read moreshortage of pizza, as they have anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 pizza restaurants using their family recipe to make some of the best pizzas in America. As the third-largest producer of tomatoes in the entire country, this key pizza-making ingredient not only sets New Jersey's classic 'tomato pies' apart from any ordinary pizza. This 10,000-square-foot, two-story establishment with a neon-lit sign on Glenwood Ave in Bloomfield asks, "Just another pizzeria?" They also house a 20-seat speakeasy that's open Thursday through Saturday called the Rab.bit Hole that can be found upstairs behind a hidden entrance. Opened in 2020, Blue Steel Pizza Company is the answer and should become obvious after looking at the menu. A reservation was easily made via Resy. My partner and I were greeted at the host station and got a regular table in the 1st-floor dining room by the pizza oven in the middle. The vibe was modern and industrial. Patrons had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu as the lighting was pretty dim. They are known for their Detroit-style pizza--a pie baked in a rectangular, traditionally blue-steel pan, the kind once used by autoworkers. It's made with a blend of mozzarella cheese and traditional Wisconsin brick cheese that melts down the side of the pie, making for a burnt, gooey, cheesy crust. It's cold-fermented for three days and is closer to sourdough. It has real flavor and an airier texture. It's like a lighter version of a Sicilian with a buttery crust. As a starter, we decided on the Chopped Salad. For our main entrée, we opted for the Jersey Tomato Pizza Pie. Portions run big enough for sharing, and we downed them with the 1911 Cider. The pizza crust was light, airy, and crispy with the right amount of fresh ingredients, making the ensemble tastefully delicious. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and our server was Adam. The price was comparable to the area. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place.
