First time going to this restaurant. I do recommend making a reservation. We were greeted by the owner's wife the second we walked in the door and brought to our table immediately. Everything from that moment on was perfection. The service is so good at this restaurant. The food is absolute perfection. Started off with the crab cake and the mussels appetizer. Absolutely one of the best crab cakes I've ever had. The mussels were so tender and not even one grain of sand in the whole dish, served in a delicious red sauce. For main course we had the Tortellini Alfredo, Pappardelle Bolognese, and the absolute star of the evening, Chicken Monte Carlo. They also have a lot of desserts to choose from. I read the reviews and called the restaurant to set up a "repast" for my family following my mom's "service". I spoke with Joe the owner to and requested he suggest a menu at a set price. Joe did not disappoint. Every single thing he suggested was cooked to perfection. All of this Italian dishes were very authentic and bursting with various flavors. The highlight of this place was the back lit menus. They were so unique and helpful. We were seated quickly as it seemed like a large party had just cleared. The service was quick. We didn't know the place was byob but luckily they allow you to get drinks from the neighboring restaurant bar 503. The bartender literally walked over from the bar and shook the martini table side. We ordered the burrata to share. The portion size was good for a party of 3. No real frills just authentic Italian. My friends got the seafood platter while the other got the cheese ravioli. They was nothing left over of either so it's safe to assume they liked it. I got the chicken parm. It's served on a bed of angel hair pasta. The portion size was huge for this plate but the ravioli needed more. Luckily they give bread prior to the meals. The cheese used for the chicken parm had hints of something other than parm. The prices are slightly high as there is nothing really special in taste, presentation compared to other local Italian spots. read more

The food was great i'd say the highlights were the mussels in red sauce and my entree the chicken fontina was really good, the vodka sauce is very rich so make sure you're ready for a big meal. My friend Doug Eppel and I were in Lyndhurst so we decided to visit a place that I have heard great things about. Casa Giuseppe on Valley Brook Avenue. Cool little Italian Restaurant. An old-school Italian vibe and ambiance provided a very comfortable, relaxing dining atmosphere. Pristine and nicely decorated, it appeared to be a neighborhood favorite. The food and friendly and attentive service was exceptional. Thank you to our server, Nelson. After an ample, mouth water Burrata appetizer, served over arugula and fresh tomatoes, I ordered the Zuppa Di Pesce, a fantastic dish loaded with clams, mussels, calamari, scallops, shrimp, all served over linguine. Delicious! Dessert was a Pistachio Tartufo and a cappuccino, of course. Home run meal all around! I should mention that Casa Giuseppe is a BYOB. An unusual feature here is that despite it being a BYOB the restaurant is attached to Bar 503, from where you can order a drink to go with your meal if that is your preference. Bar 503 is a recommended destination in itself. A gorgeous, friendly little bar with a live DJ and karaoke (at least on our visit), and a place we had to stop in and have a Manhattan following our meal. Bartender, Frank, was also a wealth of knowledge and a great guy to talk to. BTW, Doug had the Chef's special, Shrimp & Scallops over Ink squid pasta in a vodka sauce. Magnificent fish! We made reservations for a party of 12, we started off great greeted by Manolo our server that introduced himself and told our half of the table the specials we were waiting for another couple that could not find parking because when our friend made the reservations, no one told her that we could find off street parking at the VFW so our friend was looking for a spot for over 20 minutes, finally when the last couple arrived, we ordered our food only to find that at that time that our time there was limited and we could only be there for two hours and we had to leave, because the other party would be arriving at their time, we were still eating and the server starting rushing us taking the dishes away because they needed the table and supposedly the owner approached our party and said there is a time limit when I go out to dinner two hours it's enough and we have to get the table ready for the next party. Some of us engaged and very dismissive. She says I have four stars if you don't like it, you don't have to come back.! The food was mediocre a little better than fast food overpriced dishes!!! a 20+ dollar seafood salad that tasted freezer burned, the veal was tough, the Bronzino two tiny little pieces, the clams oragonata 6 pieces that came out id a box! I approached the owner on private and again very dismissive and not concerned at all, in trying to accommodate or even apologetic for picking up our dishes while we will still eating and I our glasses when we were still drinking! Needless to say, I am a local person. It will never go back as for my friends, All 12 of us will never be back not worth the money! There is so much better near by! This is a gem in Lyndhurst. Just had dinner with 4 friends. Appetizers Crab cakes... lots of crab , seasoned perfectly, soft inside , slightly crispy on the outside, melted in your mouth like a crab cake should. Calamari was tender and flavorful. Clams Oreganata were excellent... not dry from the breadcrumbs like others I've tried. Escargot ... had it in the garlic butter. Very good. Dinners Tried the linguini with MANILLA CLAMS and broccoli rabe. It was outstanding (it was a special). Not many restaurants have the manilla clams. Chicken Milanese was very tender and delicious. Breast of chicken topped with prosciutto and mozzarella in a pink brandy sauce over capellini pasta. Was very good also. I know we had dessert but I just don't remember what we ordered... The menu is large, the food is delicious with nice portions & consists of many of the American-Italian classics like fried calamari, clams oreganata, and chicken Milanese, but some less than common items that are a must try like Pollo Monte Carlo consisting of breast of chicken with prosciutto, asparagus, crabmeat and mozzarella in a Madeira wine sauce and a nice glass of red and you're in heaven. I tried out a chicken dish with artichokes, capers, olives and sun dried tomatoes. It was really good, great amount of sauce and the chicken was perfectly tender.
