My brother-in-law is still thinking about the long hots and rice ball he had. This was our first visit and all the dishes were great. I made a resy for 5:15 on a Friday night expecting it to be busier. I'm sure it's nuts with Red Bulls games. We were seated immediately and our hostess and servers were great. We had the Harrison pie, spicy rigatoni and the appys mentioned earlier. I ordered the cauliflower crust pizza with eggplant and the crust was the best I had. Left me questioning if it was really cauliflower crust. lol. The eggplant wasn't as soft as I like it but still good. Nice selection of beer and wine. When my boyfriend and I tried to go to Tops Diner and learned of the two hour wait, we came across Ah' Pizz. We did street parking about 10 minutes away since there wasn't nearby parking available. At around 9 pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. We were presented with menus on ipads which was pretty cool and we ordered a grandma pizza to share. The pizza took forever to come despite us being one of three parties in the restaurant at the time. When it finally came about 40 minutes after ordering, we found that it was just alright. The pizza wasn't as thick as other grandma pizzas we've seen, but other than that it was fine, but not worth the wait. We also saw a spider on the table next to us which was slightly disturbing. Overall, we didn't have an amazing time at Ah' Pizz, but it seems that you should be able to get seated without a wait, which is nice. read more

This was not a bad experience, I want to qualify with that. The service was excellent, the decor is great, modern and very clean. My issues were with the food. I'll say that ingredients were very fresh and high end which is a plus, but the brick oven pizza I had just wasn't it. Crust was soggy from all the toppings being just piled on and the cheese while melted, I don't think had been cooked long enough. I can totally see how others might rate this very high. I'm just not a "eat pizza with a fork" kind of guy and it's required here. It's also pretty loud. Even on a relatively quiet night (less than half full) with concrete floors, no table clothes and a very open venue everything just echoed. I can see how having drinks with friends here would be great. If there was a 3.5 I'd lean that way. Just wasn't for me. I'd encourage others to try this place though. Certainly has its high points, just wasn't for me. read more

Not sure why the reviews are mediocre, bordering on bad here.... Despite them, I came in for dinner on a Thursday evening anyway. They had trivia night while I was there and the place was moderately busy. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the bar and the lady who helped me was very friendly and helpful. She was quite busy, but that didn't really affect my service. I liked watching the pizza makers make pizzas. This place has two style of pizza; Neapolitan and NY style and they have two ovens to match those styles. Since they offered Neapolitan, I opted for that and asked for the crust to be slightly burnt... I love that flamed char on the pizza crust! I tried the Mezzaluna pizza which is two things in one; a calzone and a pizza. It was very very good! The dough was amazing, especially with that charred edge! The sauce was excellent and so was the cheese! Definitely will return as all the pizzas and food I saw being served looked great too! read more

Went to Ah'Pizz for happy hour and it was not a happy experience. There were 4 of us and we were there almost an hour only to get room temperature appetizers but worst of all when we asked to speak to the manager about our appetizers being cold she acted like we were disrupting her (she was just sitting at the bar when they went to go her get). The manager immediately took the food out of the table but then our waitress gave us an attitude when she finally decided to bring us our check. I understand that things happen but the attitude was what was most disappointing since we were not the ones who did anything wrong. Ordered delivery from the restaurant so I can't speak about the in person dining experience. The food was prepared and delivered in a timely manner and there were no issues with the order. The Grandma pizza was good but a little on the greasier side and I didn't taste much garlic. The pepperoni pizza was pretty standard and nothing special. Was not a huge fan of the buffalo wings as they ended up being very soggy and soft. First night in Newark and we found this place online that would use Uber Eats to deliver to our hotel. We ordered the Margherita pizza and fries. The pizza was delicious! First time I have had scallopini with zero capers or pimentos and no sauce. Kitchen did not drain the pasta, so the chicken and noodles was sitting in a pool of water with no sauce - extremely disappointing. I should have realized this would be a problem when I opened the take-out container and the water spilled all over the table. Insalata was fine. I should have stayed with a pizza take-out choice. They have several locations and this review is for the Harrison one. Our server right from the start was super attentive and friendly so hands off to that! We started with glasses of water and one Peroni draft and a strawberry cocktail. The Perobi draft arrived with no head on it so tasted quite flat. The cocktail had a whole massive piece of strawberry inside of the glass instead of cutting it properly and placing it on the outer rim as a garnish so points off of presentation for that. We ordered the cheesesteak rolls as an appetizer, but it only arrived after we were done eating both of our pizza pies as our mains. We reminded the server of our order of cheesesteak rolls and when she checked in the kitchen she mentioned that since they were very popular they had to make them from scratch. Cheesesteak rolls were quite tasty and crunchy, and the sweet and sour sauce was fantastic. Could go without the butter sauce on the side but at least one of the sauces was good. Out of both pies, the salsiccia was definitely the better option. Toppings were fresh but the dough itself needed a bit of flavor. I would say the same about the capricciosa. As for the churros.. they were crunchy and tasty and had a cinnamon sprinkle over them. I would prefer a fresh, warm chocolate sauce but instead it came with Nutella on the side. I had just finished a marathon so was able to finish everything but not my favorite pizza spot in the area for sure. read more

This time, in addition to the Grandma's pie, we tried the margarita. It was very tasty with a slightly sweet sauce and fresh mozzarella. The only thing missing was basil! The rigatoni alla vodka was also really good. For dessert, their bread pudding is hands down the best I've ever had. I don't know why anyone's wasting time with lettuce when so many other plants are available and I was curious about the tricolore. The endive was sparser than I hoped but the radicchio turned in a strong performance. Though I would have with an all-out bitter barrage, the salad offers a sweet and crunchy counterpoint with the candied walnuts. We started with the Long hot peppers stuffed with crumbled wood-fired sausage, porcini mushrooms, and mozzarella. Very tasty... only thing is they weren't stuffed. Everything was on top of the long hots. Would definitely order it again. Mozzarella carozza was only 2 small pieces but good otherwise. Light and airy. Minestrone soup had a nice flavor and was very hearty. Fig Pizza which had Fig jam, goat cheese, and prosciutto di parma drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Excellent!!! Delicious!! Nice crispy crust. I wanted to love Ah' Pizz but I really just feel like it's overpriced italian fare. I placed an order for pickup and as always parking is super hectic and not fun. It was ready fairly quickly. The workers were super nice and even gave me tips on where to park next time. The interior also looked fantastic. Spacious and with outdoor seating available too. When I got home and opened up the Mezze Luna pizza I was so shocked, it's really half a moon haha. It's a beautiful creation. Half pizza, half calzone. The pizza itself was delicious, the sauce and toppings were great. Now I know it's all brick oven and super hand crafted but it was a little too charred for my taste. There was an overpowering bitter taste because of the char. The calzone was alright, I wish it had more ricotta. The sauce for dipping - delicious. Definitely a very tasty tomato sauce. Would I come back? Probably not because the parking is so inconvenient. If I did, I'd order a regular pie and ask for it on the lesser cooked side just to avoid that burnt taste. read more

Ive seen this place before and have been wanting to try it. The appetizers all sounded so good we tried the polenta and fried zucchini flowers with fig and goat cheese both were really good. Although, the cheese sauce on the polenta was a bit overwhelming. We ordered the signature pizza and added artichokes on half because the stuffed artichoke appetizer we wanted to try was out :( The crust on the pie is really great, but the sauce was a bit too acidic. My daughter lives nearby and we walked here the other night after her shift at the hospital. Ah' Pizz is a fairly large restaurant with a bar. We chose to sit outside as it was a pleasant summer evening. The three of is shared the Gigi salad and two pizzas. We chose the Pesto - Pesto spread, smoked mozzarella di bufala, and crumbled wood-fired sausage and the Pizze Di Montclair - Truffles, porcini mushrooms, pecorino sardo, and parmigiano-reggiano topped with grape tomatoes and wood-fired mushrooms (white pizza). The Montclair location is better. Food was good but our server was terrible. Took our order and we didn't see her for the rest of the night. When she finally returned to our table it was to give us the bill. They had no soda or ice available. Weird right? Our server brought us each a warm glass of water and we had to make it last. My daughter, who was a sever herself for 10 years usually gives servers the benefit of the doubt and always over tips was completely annoyed. The food is as good as you would get at the other two location but the service is the reason for this 2star review. My advice to you is opt for the Montclair location. Just be aware the Montclair location can be busy so make reservations because you never know. read more

Got a margherita pizza and it was delicious, the service however was lacking. Our waitress was very nice but different runners came to our table with food at least 4 times asking if we ordered the plates they were holding (we didn't). Our pizzas came out within 10 minutes but then the other two entrees for the table took about another 20 minutes to arrive. By that time two of us already finished eating and the place was not busy. I love pizza and pastas (who doesn't) what I love even more is when restaurants offer gluten free pizzas and pastas(yayyy!!). They offer both at an added price.. mind you I think that an added charge of 6$ for a gluten free pizza is too much but I'd rather have an option. I've ordered from here multiple times and finally went over for a sit down meal with a couple of friends recently.. though I've no complains about the food, the service could've better since we ended up waiting a long time for the food to arrive and the cheque to arrive. The initial order was too complicated for the waitress. So we changed it to make it easier. 3 pies. 1. Margarita 2. 1/2 plain and 1/2 pineapple 16 inch 3. 1/2 plain and 1/2 mushroom 16 inch Waitress had problem understanding the order, then avoided eye contact with me after the error was exposed and then the 3rd time she had came by acting like the order was provide to her incorrectly. I had the guys preparing the pizza giving me dirty looks and I have no idea what communication was being shared. We were brought personal pies for pies # 2 and 3. The size was wrong but order was correct. Then we were brought ONE pie 1/2 pineapple and 1/2 mushroom. Wrong again. It's sad because service here is awesome but today this waitress needs to go. Solid Italian/pizza joint for casual dining. And in the casual dining category, I would rate them above average. They have great signature pizzas, lots of pasta options and their dishes/service are consistent. I've eaten here now probably 6 times but I believe this is my first review. I'd recommend them as a strong sit down lunch choice, perfect takeout option to impress clients who want fancy pizza if you're hosting a meeting or a casual dinner option. Don't expect hand made pasta but don't underestimate their dishes either. They are truly middle of the road Italian and I will continue to come here. One thing I've noticed is that their specials menu rarely changes and they never have been in stock with zucchini flowers so my recommendation there is to lose the specials menu and just integrate the options you have in stock into your regular menu. But this isn't anything I'd deduct stars over, just a general observation. read more

We have been here with friends around 3-4 times . The food is really good. But I think the menu needs to be more elaborate . Ordered toasty shrimp appetizer - which said that it was lightly roasted . But when it came it was breaded and deep fried. It tasted really nice , then too would have liked the correct description. Ordered calamari, Tricolore salad , Margherita pizza , salsiccia. Desserts were really nice and very nice presentation from the specials menu. Pistachio ice cream in a coconut shell fried and drizzled with caramel sauce , and French chocolate mousse . Attendants - we had a kid with us and we had to keep telling the server .. toddler needed plastic cutlery and water in different cup rather then glass . The food portion sizes are decent me and my friend shared everything because we just like trying new foods as y'all already know. *Side notes the restaurant was very clean and our waiter was spot on with the service.
