I can see why people like this but personally not for me. The portions are quite large and the food all kind of tastes the same. The lunch sets also comes with a soup and drink. The chicken steak is very fatty as well. Flavor is good. Service is good but place can be a bit loud.

baked pork chop (honey mustard sauce)

The resto is located inside Monte Carlo Inn on Woodbine Ave. Ok the truth is, in terms of overall food quality, I do think the 3 star aggregate is pretty accurate. The pasta here is like 3.5/5 but everything else is around 3 stars. I REALLY, REALLY wanna give 3.5 overall rating tbh, simply because the portions are massive and the service was actually good contrary to what a lot of these reviews are saying. But alas, 2023 is a new year and one of my resolutions is to stop rounding up half a star if deep down I know the resto doesn't deserve it. So in this case, I'm feeling a 3.5 but since I'm not rounding up I have to round down to 3. Tiger shrimp penne with spinach cream sauce: This was what I ordered and by far the best dish of the lot. The pasta was cooked al dente. The sauce was creamy and thick. And there were A LOT of tiger shrimps running through this dish to justify that $20 price tag for a lunch. Did I mention above that the dishes in general were huge? This pasta was no exception. Chicken steak (not pictured): My dad ordered this and while the chicken WAS tender and moist, it came without sauce. Neither did the spaghetti that he paired with it, come with any sauce. This was very puzzling to me. He literally ate cooked spaghetti noodles with no sauce. Baked pork chop (honey mustard sauce): The sauce was tasty and the pork chops were actually very moist. I actually liked the chops more than the chicken steak tbh. It's a lot harder to cook a good pork chop than a good chicken thigh so this dish was actually done right. Probably rank this one right below my pasta. Baked sole fillet with pesto cream sauce: My bro's fiancé ordered this, and I never got a chance to try it but she did say it was ok. Came with a generous portion of fish. I've only ever eaten here for lunch with my family and my godparents so it's sort of a novelty/niche place for me. I don't think I'd ever suggest coming here out of the blue with my friends or gf tbh. It's not remarkable enough to warrant either. That being said, the portion sizes will satisfy any big eater so if that's what you're looking for, you'll be pleased.

Great service, ok food. The pasta tasted fine, and the clam chowder was good. The ovaltine wasn't drinkable at all.

This is a rather ordinary Hong Kong-style Western restaurant. The items they offer are actually quite common and can be found in Hong Kong on a regular basis. There isn't anything particularly special, and the prices are on the higher side. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesn't justify the price, so it's not worth a try.

This restaurant is quite busy, and it is typically quite busy for a reason. The food is ok but the value of exceptional and you will definitely get your money worth. Especially looking at their combo set lunch/dinner, you probably won't be able to find another menu at this value within the 10km range. For me ordered a combo honey mustard pork chop guaranteed I also have lunch for the next day. Food overall is good, since their servers are quick, the food are served fresh and hot. The taste is what you can expect in a HK Western style restaurant(港式西餐廳). Service overall is very good, servers are attentive, but they are kind of like HK style type rush. So don't expect the slow classy service like those at JOEY, where you paid double the price and the service is slow. However, paying for double the price at Joey may not get your stomach full, over here you can see almost every table have to pack something to go.

Restaurant is located inside the Monte Carlo Hotel in Markham. First time coming to a chinese fusion restaurant inside a hotel. The staff were super friendly and nice which is a great plus! Very good service for sure. Main dishes: The linguine and meatball were decent with a tomato carrot like sauce, definitely chinese style...not sure how to explain it but its not italian for sure! The pork chop and sausage had a honey mustard sauce that was a bit sweet for my liking... Side dishes: russian borsht soup and hk milk tea were really good and tasty. The soup was a perfect balance of salty sweet and sour with lots of veggies. The milk tea was a great mix of strong and creamy goodness.

Seems to be a plethora of bad reviews. Overall I didn't think it was bad, it wasn't very good. More average. Wait staff were polite, topped up our tea, fast with service so I couldn't fault them for anything. The food came out fast and hot. The portion of fish that I had on my plate was double what I thought I'd be receiving but the shrimp seemed a bit on the smaller side. The only real fault from my late lunch was that there was an obscene amount of oil on my plate. I doubt any of the items would've produced that much oil. My mom mentioned that in a previous visit she was given ice cream as a dessert but this time was told that there'd be an extra charge.

This is an Italian and Mediterranean cuisine located in the Monte Carlo Inn on Woodbine. The lunch menu was a good deal. I ordered a Bruschetta & Smoked Salmon Garden Salad served with Daily Soup (Creamy mushroom soup) & Garlic Bread - $17.99. Let's start with the soup. I am not a fan of their mushroom soup just because it tasted bland and it doesn't look very appetizing. Garlic Bread was very small and looked average. The salad was in a big portion ( 3 to 4 pieces of smoked salmon and 2 pieces of bruschetta). Overall, I am happy with the main course and the dining environment. It was a place for a quick lunch gathering between friends and they are able to accommodate a large group of people.

I really want to give this place a 3.5 stars. Trips to hotel always invoke feelings of exceptional hospitality and it's no different even if it's to the Monte Carlo in town. The restaurant is accessed through the hotel so you get a chance to walk by the fountain outdoors and see a bit of the lobby before you get to the restaurant. I was actually surprised to see some people there. It was the middle of the week and we just wanted to try something new. We had our pick of tables and chose to sit by the window. We asked for both hot and cold water which they obliged. They use different shape glasses depending on the water temperature so they refill it with your preferred water which I thought was clever. The menu is very HK cafe inspired. The dinner specials seemed to be the best value since it came with a choice of appetizer as well as coffee or tea. There was another menu that was a place setting and you can also order off that although those seemed to be mostly a la carte. We were all given bread which paired nicely with the soup. There were soup options and I was interested in trying the lobster bisque. Honestly the reason I really can't give the full 4th star is because this bisque was just like straight up gravy. It was very salty. To their credit there were little bits of shrimp inside which was a nice touch but the flavor was just super off to me. My entree was pretty good though. I had the tiger shrimp pasta in a white wine sauce. The sauce was light but still had good flavor. There were veggies like pepper and onion slivers and mushrooms. A nice mix of veggies that were not offensive and didn't overpower any of the sauce. The pasta was also cooked well so I was pretty pleased with my dish. Finally, you can opt for a HK milk tea, coffee, or just English black tea which I went for. The tea comes out with a small pot of hot water for you to add to your liking and you can choose between milk or cream. The servers were all pretty nice and they were fine conversing in Cantonese and English. Perhaps it was a little more expensive than if you were at a true HK cafe but you get the nicer dining experience of being at a hotel restaurant.

Combo A for 2
Tyler Y.

Solid takeout deal for combos. Shared the Combo A for 2 with my sister and had lots of food leftover. Porkchops and shrimp were great. Soups were good. Popcorn chicken was a bit salty. Pasta good if not a bit bland (but was fine in the context of this meal since everything else was well seasoned). Pleasantly surprised to see the veggies too since they weren't mentioned in the menu! The quality and quantity for the price is great - hard not to recommend.

Located inside the Monte Carlo Inn on Woodbine Ave., this place has so many great things going on!! Cute decor and cozy vibe. They serve French/Italian inspired food with a HK/Cantonese twist! My family truly enjoyed our lunc My family loves their daily lunch specials that that they have posted outside on their chalk board right at the entrance before coming in. My dad chose ox tail, my mom chose curry chicken, while my aunt and I chose their Tsing Yi fish special!! They all came with some bread, a milestone or white cream soup to start and a beverage after the meal. My fish tasted to fresh and nicely peppered. It had plenty of broccoli and corn on the side. Just the right amount of sauce, too. My Mom's curry chicken came with its own bowl of curry and potatoes and separate plate of rice. My Dad's oxtail was similar with its own separate plate of pasta with tomatoes and cucumbers. All their daily lunch specials on the chalkboard were $16.50-19.50, while the ones on their regular lunch special menu are mostly $14.50-$16.50. Pretty good deals, since they are all sets!! Every item was flavourful and well done! They also came with plenty of curry or sauce and right amount of veggies!! Service was fast, attentive and friendly. They also offer cheaper set dinners from Sunday to Thursday evenings, which require at least one--day advance booking and their Friday and Saturday night are slightly more expensive because there is live music singers performing from 7:15-8:45 and karaoke thereafter till closing!! The sets all come with lobster bisque and a mix of seafood and steak or other combination sets for $96-$120 for every 2 ppl. Not bad at all, since every set has at least 4 items!! I would definitely come back here and try their other special!! --- My party of 6 all enjoyed their special set dinner C with lobster tail and lamb rack! It was such a good price per couple and we were all so full! Great service and delicious food!!

I always enjoyed their afternoon tea and excited to try their Christmas dinner. However, very disappointed about the quality of food. The salmon was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The steak was over done and texture is so hard to bit. We ordered the vegetable as side dish, only corn and broccoli which were so cheap when compared to how much they charged. Also, no source and everything is so dry. We have to pay cash in order to get 15% off, and they have included gratuity in the bill and we have no choice but must pay for the poor quality of food.

Initially we were going for the idea of breakfast, but timing was a bit off from what we anticipated and it was a really nice lunch date instead. I love the Markham Marriott, the staff is always warm and welcoming. Draco has a very sleek, sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. We both ordered Bacon & Cheddar burgers. I opted for a Caesar salad as an appetizer and hubby ordered their Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak. Let's start with the apps. The Caesar salad was SO good! I wish I had taken a pic, but admittedly, my phone was tucked away and I was caught up in the cozy seating, great food and Christmas vibes of the restaurant and lobby. Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak: $33 - Buttercup Squash Puree and Truffle Oil - Everything you want Wagyu to be - tender, cooked to the perfect temp which left a nice warm red centre. This was melt in your mouth good! The burgers - these were perfection! Draco Bacon Cheddar Burger: $25 - Aged Cheddar with Crispy Bacon Strips; Crispy Onion Straws, Arugula and Garlic Aioli. This was a very well seasoned patty, so juicy and a substantial sized patty of fresh not frozen beef. The bun was lightly toasted, bacon crispy, easily taking this into my top 3 fav spots for burgers! Options for sides include fries, sweet potato fries, poutine, side Caesar or garden salad or truffle fries. We finished off our meal with 2 really good cappuccinos and just took our time before heading home. This was our first time back here in a few years. The food was exceptional as was the service and the warm staff. Draco is the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast, work or lunch date or a nice cozy dinner. Perhaps it was the holiday season, we weren't given any water or acknowledgments 30 minutes after we were seated. Crispy on the skin, and the salmon was cooked perfectly with it being juicy and tender and very silky-smooth. The striploin was cooked just the way we asked - medium rare. The red velvet cake was a nice touch to finish off our evening, but the cream cheese frosting was a little bit sweet to our liking. Other than that, the cake itself was soft and moist. We called in the Wednesday before and were able to get a reservation for the same weekend. It was an ok experience but there were definitely odd things I noticed. For the food, you're able to select 4 of 7 of the savoury dishes, which is nice to be able to customize. For dessert, you get most of the desserts except one (you need to pay $3 extra for macaron). Most of the food was fine, not exceptional, but fine. The scones I found were quite small compared to other tea places, and they only gave one per person rather than the usual two I'm used to. The tea experience could be better. In terms of the tea selection, I foundour server wasn't the most knowledgeable about the different tea. When asking about them, they mainly told me what was the top sellers, and when I asked to give me more details about the other ones, I was told things like "that's not as popular" or "that green tea like this other one but a bit different". Which really isn't helpful when trying to figure out what I want. Additionally, thete is a note that it costs $3 for an additional refill, and that a pot serves 4 cups. The problem is that the pot was really small and filled only two cups. They often checked in to see if we wanted a refill, but it was unclear when we would be charged for it. For example, our first refill we didn't get charged, but my guess is that it's because the first pot only filled two cups and not the four cups. So would I get charged for the next refill? How would they keep track? I imited how much I drank because of this. It was an ok afternoon tea experience but it wouldn't be one I would necessarily recommend given the above.

I went for High Tea in a group of 8, all except one is in their 60s-70s…read more The best things: the guest of honour was absolutely delighted, which is no surprise: it was her birthday, and a surprise event, and she was surrounded by family. And parking was free, once you registered at the desk. The china teapot and cups/saucers were gorgeous. HOWEVER!!!! We were seated somewhat away from the empty dining room, beside a wedding shower; some dividers separated us from the shower. Why sit older folks close to a noisy party?? (there were games, surprises and speeches) My husband couldn't hear his sister or brother at the other end of the table; I couldn't hear several of my in-laws; my brother in law with a hearing aid couldn't hear me well, and I was sitting beside him; we did not talk. After a couple of hours, I got fed up with the clamour, and anxious to LEAVE!! I suspect the staff seated us there for their serving convenience and/or because they assumed that a group might be noisy and should be near another group. Well!!!, older folks having high tea do not chortle and yell; they yearn to visit with people they've not seen in awhile!! All so unfortunate, as the dining room was empty (we were over near an empty buffet table). The tables were not set for tea, apart from the cups, saucers and pots already on the table; also, each "setting" had cutlery wrapped up in a napkin and I found myself wondering: do I need THREE knives, including a large dinner knife? Do I need two forks for finger food? Where do I put all this stuff? The small spoon was useful though. No table cloth. Institutional-type melamine tables...after I left I realized, they did not set the table at all! Setting the table is a fundamental of high tea. The other two are food and service! Our tea arrived. The china was very beautiful BUT each person got a small teapot and a very large teabag--one too large for the pot (I guess we were to get the pot refilled w water multiple times). I decided that the tiny plate on my portion of the table MIGHT be for my tea bag--there was NO WHERE ELSE to put it (one thing I inherited from my Mum was silver teaware including a little plate to put the teabag; this should not be a mystery for the hotel). I certainly wasn't going to leave a large black tea bag in a teapot for an hour or two!! Later, I realized that the little plate was what we was supposed to eat off of. I wiped it off with a napkin and stuck the tea bag somewhere else.... Perhaps 20-30 minutes after we were served tea, I overheard my in-laws muttering that they needed a refill of water: staff had to be asked to bring more water (!). They didn't ask or offer to bring it a second time. My fellow guests let their tea bags sit in their pots the whole time and/or (like me) gave up on getting more water. High Tea should be several cups of hot and fresh tea, automatically provided by staff and enjoyed over a while (a little bit like at dim sum: the tea helps balance and cleanse; sipping is comforting and should be delicious). As for the food: Savouries: of the four I ate, only the crab was interesting and tasty overall. The egg and truffle: no taste of truffle at all; best part was the brioche underneath; I make egg salad as well. Although the strip loin slices were perfect, and the touch of mustard was good...this was essentially meat on a nice slice of bread (could do this myself too); I'd bet the meat was cooked prior to the date, but it was good. The smoked salmon on croissant: the salmon was better than the frozen product I can get at the grocery store; the croissant may have been baked on a previous day. The single scone and cream: the scone was nice. Others at my table noticed that the cream had a lemon flavour but all I tasted was cream and some sweetness. I've had "cream teas" in England; the clotted cream was NEVER sweet. Although the accompanying jelly was nice, a gourmet/tasty strawberry jam would have been appropriate. Ask the English Desserts: I've never eaten a cannoli before and this was obviously fried (w bubbles in the "pastry"); nothing tempting about it. My guess is that the staff made these the previous day for the shower and for us, since there was a crust on the filling; no taste of pistachio in the filling. I researched what a canelé was before the Tea and wow, the little thing we received was no better than a Timbit in a different shape: so different from what I was expecting. It was supposed to be raspberry and caramel, but it just tasted like baked bread/pastry. An absurd letdown; the internet said they are hard to make, but really!!!! Panna cotta was unmemorable (it was pink and I used my little spoon lol). During the course of our visit, two staff smiled at us once, and we were asked ONCE how everything was, and WHO wants to make a fuss at a celebration? Avoid!!

Finally checked out Touro and I have to say, compared to Copacabana, I still prefer Copa overall…read more Touro does have a nice atmosphere -- it feels a bit more suitable for special occasions like birthdays. The space is lively and the service is attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. As for the food, the variety is decent, and the meats are generally well-seasoned and flavorful. I especially liked the grilled pineapple -- it was juicy and nicely caramelized. However, if you're not a fan of cinnamon, this might not be your favorite, as the flavor is quite noticeable. Overall, it's a good experience and worth trying at least once, but in terms of variety and overall balance, I personally still lean towards Copacabana.

Touro is a Brazilian Steakhouse where the waiters walk around with a selection of meats (and…read moresometimes shrimp) for you to select from. It's all you can eat. There are 2 locations north of Toronto, north essentially the same. It a large open space with tables far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sitting right next to strangers. There are a few appetizers like the cheese bread and some grilled vegetables. These are bland and have no real flavour. Their corn bread, however, is fantastic. The meat variety is good. Of course, they have picanha (a Brazilian cut of meat), Parmesan sirloin steak, sausage, chicken, grilled pineapple, shrimp, and others. They have beans and rice too. The staff walk around constantly and offer food. They're friendly and are happy to give you an extra piece of meat if that's the one you really like. These reason for 4 stars is that its nearly impossible to get meat that's prepared medium or well done. Not all my family likes rare/medium rare, and while it's possible to request well done, it takes 15-20 minutes to get 2 little pieces of meat by which time you're ready for more and have to wait another 15-20 minutes. This, while all the others are busily eating.
