I have to say if I've been in Markham my whole life and I'm surprised I never tried this place. I would have to say this place is one of the best Italian places I ever tried in my life. I have to say they're are a little cheap as it was my birthday I thought they would give the dessert for free but they charged for the dessert it's all good, let's start of with the calamari, really crispy and tender in the inside expensive like crazy, for entree we ordered rigatoni vodka, papperdalle funghi, and chicken Parmesan, the rigatoni vodka was out of this world, very creamy pasta was cooked al dente and they make fresh pasta here, that's a first, the vodka sauce tasted delicious had a rich tomatoe flavor but super creamy, the papperdalle funghi tasted amazing as well and the chicken Parmesan tasted amazing a billion times better than Sugo. The service was excellent, the waiter was attentive, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance just seemed a bit claustrophobic as there wasn't much space in the restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], if you want to eat here for dinner it is highly recommended to reserve online. Just if it's your birthday don't expect anything for free I forgot to Mention the chocolate cream pie probably one of the best desserts I have ever tasted the filling was so creamy and had the right amount of sweetness and the crust was perfect.
Visited this restaurant for the very first time and it was a great experience. I came with a friend on a weekday and it got quite busy. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, Orecchiette Sawsage Rapini pasta and calamari fritti to share. The food was delicious, I loved the pasta however the prices are definitely on the higher end. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a patio which is nice come summer time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, I wouldn't come here just for a meal on a regular day.

Tried out this lovely Italian restaurant located in Unionville. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat on the patio during dinner time which was so lovely with all the lights and flowers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried out a few of their dishes including their calamari, rigatoni vodka, and their prime striploin. They also offer complimentary bread. My favourite dishes were their calamari and rigatoni. Calamari was crispy, light, and the sauce complemented well. The rigatoni sauce was very delicious but the pasta was a tiny bit undercooked. The striploin was just okay for me, I found it to be over seasoned and too salty for my liking. Service is good. Would come back!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is cozy and intimate with its dim lighting, though the tables are a little close together.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I personally prefer the patio more since the fairy lights make it feel more romantic and make it perfect for a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was attentive, with our server checking in often to make sure drinks were topped up and that we were enjoying everything. We started with the Mushroom Truffle Pizza, which was thin, flavorful, and earthy. For mains, we shared three pastas, which were the Rigatoni Vodka (a must-order), the Seafood Linguine, and the daily special Beef Sirloin Pasta with peppercorn sauce. The Rigatoni Vodka was delicious as always, though cooked slightly more al dente than I prefer. The Seafood Linguine had great balance, with the shrimp and mussels adding a nice briny flavor and a touch of umami. The standout was the Sirloin Pasta, the peppercorn sauce was rich, savory, and so good that I think it deserves a permanent spot on the menu. For drinks, we had an off-menu Espresso Martini, a Hugo Spritz, and the House Sangria with white wine. The sangria was the clear winner as it was refreshing, citrusy, and almost candy-like! We loved it so much we ordered two more rounds. Overall, Il Postino delivers excellent food and is a Markham gem thats perfect for celebrating special occasions!
This is my third time here. First two times I completely forgot to write a review but I just remember ordering the usual caprese salad and a pasta. Definitely cannot come here and expect big portions because it's more of a high end Italian restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have quite a lot of seats including upstairs but it's best to make a reservation to ensure availability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pastas are always a hit. This time we ordered practically the entire menu including the specials as well. Our bill was just under 1k. I didn't even get the chance to take all the pics as my family likes to eat the food as soon as it hits the table. I enjoyed everything including the octopus, but the only miss, in my opinion, were the pizzas. We ordered 4 pizzas, the crust was very hard, not very kind to the gums. Best pizza taste though would have to be the mushroom with caramelized onions - that I would order again next time I come here.
I came to meet a girlfriend for lunch, this was my first time here as she's been here several times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came here around 12:30 and it was getting quite busy on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was great from start to finish. My friend got her go to, the orchiette sausuge and rapini - finished the whole plate! While I got the tagliatelle ragu and finished majority of it and brought the rest home, it was a large portion! We finished off with a homemade tiramisu which was really good as well. One thing I wish they did was offer to get us another drink once we were done.

Went to dinner with friends here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outside is super cute, inside seems a lot older and rundown. We ended up going to the upstairs area where they had more tables. The inside was not super aesthetic and the walls were yellow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good. A bit slow in terms of getting the bill but other than that everyone was very nice! Food: - Vodka Pasta: 3.5/5 stars. I got grilled chicken in my pasta for some protein however a grilled chicken breast add on was $14!!! It was so expensive. They also mixed it in my pasta, which was fine, however it seems as if it watered down my vodka sauce. My friend's vodka pasta without the chicken looked amazing and not watered down at all. Little bit disappointing. - Calamari: 3.8/5 stars. It tasted good! A little fishy though and I felt like there was more breading than squid itself. - Bread: 4.5/5 stars. The free bread was amazing! There's rosemary and olive oil on it and it is delicious. They even gave us a free second loaf after we finished the first one that I brought home. Overall, could be a good place for you to try out but maybe order other things on the menu. They had some specials going on so might be worth to give those a try!
I heard a good reputation about this restaurant and first time visiting here. My friend took me out for my birthday, so honestly whichever food would feel like delicious as I was already happy there haha. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked their ambiance that is rusty cozy European style decoration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their staff were very responsive and friendly! We ordered truffle pizza and seafood pasta. Both were delicious. Price was a bit high. But that's understandable considering the location is in main Unionville.
We decided to come here for dinner because my other half & kids wanted Italian food. They do have a private parking lot in the back, which is great, and the service was alright. We ordered a kid's spaghetti with the meatball appetizer bc they didn't have that as an entree, rigatoni vodka, chicken parmigiana, and I wanted just spaghetti with garlic & oil but all I got was spaghetti drenched in oil with no garlic- it was disappointing. All the food tasted authentic, decent, and price was reasonable. However, since we're from New York, we have had better Italian food, so the rating reflected our expectations.
I came here recently with friends for lunch. We were not very hungry, so we just ordered two salads, an appetizer and a pizza for sharing. The service was okay but the food...meh. Every dish was missing something! The chef was lacking some fundamentals in cooking especially flavouring. We were seated on first floor and they also had second floor which had some nice views of the neighborhood. After ordering our food, we were first served with bread soaked in a whole plate of olive oil. Yes, a whole plate of olive oil! So gross! Now the salads. Caesar salad was the most plain salad I've ever eaten. Not much dressing. Not enough cheese. Definitely worse than the one sold at Costco. So was the kale salad. We added chicken for $12! Without the chicken it was so flavorless. The prosciutto and burrata was plain again. The burrata was even more flavorless than the most mild mozzarella cheese! It just tasted like water. The only edible dish might be the pizza. At least it had good amount of topping and cheese. However, it was overcooked and burnt. I would not recommend the food here to anyone.
So impressed with the quality of food at Il Postino. I went there for lunch not knowing what to expect. The rosé vodka pasta was delicious - I'll be dreaming of it at night. Our truffle mushroom pizza was top notch too. I'll definitely be returning if I'm in the area

This place is very nice We came here to this restaurant which is perfectly situated in Main St. Unionville. Upon entering we were greeted very favourably and offered us to sit in patio or inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The weather was very nice but they didn't have any tables in shade so we sat inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is very rustic with lots of wood. It was aesthetically pleasing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On to the food, we ordered for the 4 of us 1. Margarita pizza 2. Mushrooms pappardelle 3. Seafood pasta 4. Bolognese pasta Everything was done amazingly. The pasta was all al dente with amazing sauces The pizza was delicious and had a crispy crust. You could tell everything was homemade to order Overall we had a fantastic experience And We would come again I also recommend all Yelpers to try this place as well if you haven't already Fantastic establishment. read more
I'm not a big pasta person but the penne à la vodka was very good. The ragu pasta was also very nice. I think portions could be a little bigger but it was still decently sized. Delicious Italian dining experience The bread starter was fresh & delicious--a perfect way to begin the meal. The prosciutto pizza was perfection with its thin, crispy crust & fresh, flavourful toppings, & the seafood linguine featured perfectly cooked pasta with a generous portion of fresh seafood The service was attentive & friendly, with a [[HIGHLIGHT]]cozy ambiance making the experience even better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine Small parking lot behind the restaurant & definitely make reservations as it can get busy. Bad idea. The pasta had an overwhelming taste. The bread they gave us when we arrived was really hard, which left us wondering what's the point of giving the free bread if it's inedible? read more

I've been here multiple times because I somehow always have a craving for their menu! I love the ambience at Il Postino. They have an outdoor area to sit, seating inside as well (although it's a more intimate area for smaller groups). The servers are so friendly and seem so knowledgeable about the food and drink. Prices are reasonable and the portions are of a good size. The complimentary crusty bread with olive oil is amazing. I always get MINIMUM 2 plates at least. This time I had the Mushroom & Truffle Pizza, along with the Rigatoni Vodka pasta. I am a HUGE fan of their pizzas, and I will definitely be coming back to try every single one! If you a mushroom fan like me, your mouth will be watering the time it hits the table. The Rigatoni Vodka pasta has a beautiful sauce, just the right amount of acidity, perfect al dente noodles. Did I mention the complimentary bread? Outstanding. Anyways, who couldn't love some good pizza and pasta? Definitely one of the best places in Markham for Italian. Will be coming back soon! read more

At Il Postino, you will enjoy a comfortable dining experience with the friendly atmosphere, warm environment, and delicious food. The menu is small, but they take pride to ensure excellent in all of their dishes, ranging from appetizers to dessert. The Calamari is always fresh and fried to a nice crisp to allow the tender squid to be enjoyed in its full body and texture. It had been many months since our last visit. We came again on a Friday night, the restaurant was not completely fully. We had made reservations and were immediately seated on 2nd floor. Nobody served us bread or water until being asked, and service was a bit sluggish. We ordered many of our favourite foods, there was too much dressing on Caeser salad, but everything else was great. The mushroom and truffle pizza crust was delicious. The pasta and calamari were nicely done. We like Il Postino because the price is fair and the food is good, we'll definitely come back. read more
Have know about this spot tucked in unionville Markham for awhile now and finally decided to check out out during patio season. Came here specifically to try their pastas because I've heard good things. The meal also came with complimentary bread and olive oil. Got calamari to start as well as some cocktails/wine which were good, no complaints. For my main dish I got the rigatoni vodka pasta and my friend got orecchiette sausage and rapini. I loved the rigatoni pasta, it tasted so fresh and flavours were great, also tried my friends pasta which I was not a fan of, but definitely recommend trying the rigatoni vodka!! read more
This is really a 3.5 place. Location is really nice because it is on the strip of the trendy and busy Unionville. Patio is covered and very large so on a hot day - it didn't feel so bad. Tons of parking in the back, so you can grab a spot instead of walking from the large lot beside the conservation area. Came for lunch so I wonder if they enforce parking in the back when the tourist flood the area. Food: Great diverse menu. Burrata appetizer was very tasty and so was the warm loaf of bread. Calamari was coated and fried and was just okay. Cocktails were good and mixed very well. Pizza main was good, and so were the pasta dishes (gnocchi and seafood pasta). After a few bites the pasta felt too rich and I couldn't eat anymore. Service: Our server was exceptional, very friendly and attentive. The gentleman that brought the food was also very efficient. I think we had 3 different people come to clear our dishes. Service and Location is a 4+ but the food is just okay...nothing special. read more

4.5 STARS Really love this! Came here for dinner with family and friends and had a table reservations for 7pm. Got greeted by the lovely host, and was seated right away. The menu isn't too extensive, but there are enough options for everyone. I ordered myself the seafood linguine and we shared a sausage pizza. They bring out fresh bread with olive oil. Server was attentive and checked up on us very often. The pastas came out piping hot, my dish had a generous amount of seafood prettily presented, and it was one of the most delicious pastas I've had in a while. Everyone at the table enjoyed their pastas too. The pizza that came out surprised everyone, as it was like a medium size pizza and everyone was able to have a slice or two; my daughter enjoyed her pizza very much, and she's a picky eater. Flavours were delicious and the crust was thin, but crispy; the pizza held up well too. I recommend sitting outside patio, as it is located in the heart of Main st Unionville, it's definitely sets the mood for a special anniversary dinner or date night. read more

The service was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, providing information about our food restrictions. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. However the gluten free options are limited. The freshly baked bread served with olive bread oil was worth the calories. The drinks, while a bit pricey were also well made. The environment is lovely and lively without being overly loud. The greenery and lighting makes for a gorgeous dinner experience. read more

Took my gf here for a belated valentine's day dinner recently. Made a reservation a month in advance for 7pm on OpenTable with no issues. Super smooth. There's designated parking for the resto behind the building (the corridors are single vehicle between the buildings so just be mindful). It's very cozy inside. It's literally a house that's been converted into a resto. There's 2 floors of seating (w/ extra washrooms on the 2nd floor). Now I had seen a special valentine's menu posted on their website but unfortunately, the waitress informed us that they weren't serving it anymore. She did notify us that there were 3 specials in place (the seafood risotto piqued our interest for sure). Complimentary bread (w/ sea salt and olive oil) arrived at our table before we even ordered. For mains we ordered a seafood linguine and tagliatelle ragu. The seafood in the linguine was super fresh and the tomatoes really sang in the sauce. But my gf and I agreed that the tagliatelle was our favourite because it had both pork and veal in the ragu and it tasted soooo savoury. There was just a lil extra umami in the sauce. The pasta in both dishes was cooked perfectly al dente though. They only served 2 desserts the night we went. A lemon cheesecake w/ blueberry compote and tiramisu. Since we both had some room left, we got both. The cheesecake was not as tart as I thought it would be. Rather, it was subtle and I thought the crust could've been better imo. It was slightly too soft (I would've preferred a harder crust). The tiramisu was excellent though. On the same level as Nonna Lia which I think makes the best tiramisu in the city. Would definitely order the tiramisu again. We washed everything down w/ a nice bit of pinot grigio shared between us. On my next visit I'm hoping they serve veal chop as one of my close friends had it and he said it was simply exquisite. My dad's friend also claimed that the seafood platter was also very delicious so I might take a closer look at that as well in the future. Obviously, the price is lil bit higher than your family, casual italian spot but for a special occasion I would totally recommend this resto as the food and service were both awesome. read more

This is a very cute restaurant in unionville. Parking is non existent unless you drive down another block. Not very busy; they had a rented patio area you can sit at. The upper level of the restaurant is for private dining and two individual bathrooms. Appetizers Carpaccio - absolutely delicious. The beef was so tender and paired well with the arugula Caprese - tomatoes were delicious, cheese was mild and delicious. Very small platter Calamari - so crispy and light! Small plate again for the price it is, but it was also yum! Mains Ragu - the pasta itself was perfectly al dente. Nice texture. The sauce was mediocre. I wish there was more depth and richness to the sauce but it was alright. Garnished with a few basil leaves and stingy on the Parmesan cheese on top: I've never been to a place where when you tell them you love lots of parm, they only give you a small bit. Chicken parm - chicken breast was tender. Fried perfectly and pairs well with the marinara sauce Veal special - so this was recommended as the dish of the day. Visually looks delicious. Flavour? You get a hit of lots of lemon and mayonnaise. I think that this was probably the biggest disappointment of the entire night. They make good pasta. I'd come back to try the other types of pasta. Ragu wasn't worth it. The bread at the table was fresh and super delicious. The only downside is that they sprinkle way too much salt on the top. Overall, an alright experience. read more

Came on a Tuesday night and it was pretty much full house. Great for a restaurant on a weekday! Enjoyed everything we ordered. Complimentary bread was so on point - I have been noticing a decline in Italian restaurants actually providing bread, let alone the bread was warm and crispy in perfect amount of balsamic and olive oil. Please keep this up! Burrata and prosciutto - perfect zing of freshness and creaminess. Had it with the bread as well. Al dente pappardelle, definitely a rich pasta dish but hits the spot (one of those days where you crave sinking into saucy, glutenous noodles). read more
I recently came here on a cold, winter weekend in January and I'm still dreaming about how good the food was! This place is located on Main St. Unionville. It is quite a small restaurant, but there is more seating on the patio in the summer. We ordered the calamari, seafood spaghetti, and the tagliatelle ragu. The highlights were definitely the pasta! It was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was so flavourful. I especially liked the scallops in the seafood pasta. There was prix fixe lunch menu as well, but I didn't like the selection for pasta on there. The dishes came in a generous portion, and tasted really fresh. Service was also really friendly and attentive. It's hard to find good Italian places in Markham, so can't wait to return! read more
Located on Main St Unionville, across from Chat Bar. There's parking in the back (shared with Tsuyoi) or you can park in the main lot. Great variety of apps and mains! We tried the meatballs (app), chicken parm, pappardelle, and the special short rib. Meatballs came pretty quickly and was nice and juicy. The tomato sauce wasn't too tart which was nice. My friend loved the chicken parm. Was a big portion with side of spaghetti. The chicken was tender. Special for the night was short rib with mashed potatoes in demi glaze. Love how it was plated but there was smokey taste that I wasn't too fan of. Our sever, Sue, realized this and quickly asked what I would like to eat instead. Got to try the pappardelle which was delicious. Creamy and very mushroomy. Must try for all mushroom lovers! Overall, great Italian place. Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone. Came here for a second time. Had a birthday dinner for a friend. Service is always quick and courteous. We asked to change tables and they accommodated. It was a bit busy and noisy on the main floor so we got seated on the second floor. This was a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy. So the restaurant is obviously popular. I suggest making a reservation, as we did. Food here is amazing as always. Perfectly thin battered calamari, delicious truffle mushroom pizza and very flavourful seafood linguini. My friends also ordered the veal parmigiana and grilled branzino. They liked their dishes as well. No take out from this dinner. We also tried dessert and they brought it out with a happy birthday greeting. We had the tiramisu and cheesecake. Both were very good. It's worth the drive to Markham to try this cozy and elegant restaurant. Will definitely return! read more
