I think one of the best Italian restaurants I've been too so far. I had the calamari and bruschetta, the calamari was good well seasoned the bruschetta was my favourite, the tomatoes and the feta cheese worked perfectly together. I had the special very expensive 50 bucks wild mushroom ravioli, with rack of lamb, portion size is massive, the lamb was cooked perfectly and the mushroom ravioli was one of the best pasta I ever had. This once every ten years because it is very expensive. The dessert was really good a gelato really tasty and not too sweet. Came here on a Friday evening for birthday celebrations. The restaurant looks like it was previously a house. Most of the restaurant is quite tight and close, but the bar area is probably the most snug. It wasn't too busy when we sat down, so service was fast; even when it got busy we had no problem getting the attention of a waiter/waitress to get what we needed. Calamari - One of the top calamari batter I've ever had. The batter was fluffy and still crispy, the perfect compliment to a nice chewy calamari. Wished the calamari was a little thicker to give it more of a chew and a bit more seasoned. Fried peppers were a nice touch! would get again. Sofia Mia Pizza - This was an absolutely amazing pizza. Crust was not the best but the toppings stole the show. Normally I don't like goat cheese, but that was balanced by the fruitiness of the fig and the balsamic reduction. The prosciutto brought on some meaty flavours while being balanced by the caramelized onion and arugula. Would come back again for this. Cheese wheel pasta - some mushroom pasta - A bit of a gimmick in my opinion, but it was a fun experience. The head chef comes by and does the final touches of the pasta in the cheese wheel. The pasta itself was a bit lacklustre for me. It lacked flavours compared to a saucier pasta, probably because they wanted the parmigiano cheese more forward. First time here. Very small place. So you have to make reservations. The place filled up quickly after we arrived at 5:30. The dishes we got were all decent. Nothing mindblowing. Although we got one of their pasta specials and it wasn't that good. 2 things I was taken aback is they told us no pizza during the weekends. Which is strange. But ok. Then we found out the pasta with the cheese wheel pasta m was also not available on weekend only Fridays. Again. Ok. So not sure how they make their money when I assume that most patrons would come on weekends and would like pizza or try the cheese wheel pasta. read more

cute little find!!! Came here for a friend dinner and the vibes were spectacular. I loved the lighting. It was dim and every table had a little adjustable lamp. The service was great, a tad bit slow just because I could tell there weren't many workers but once you got their attention, they would serve you right away! Food: Bread and Butter - 4/5 This was complementary and free always tastes great haha. If I had to be picky, I'd wish the bread was warmer and a bit chewier but can't complain. Was yummy! Vodka Pasta - 3.8/5 I had been craving vodka pasta for a while and this satisfied my craving! It was yummy and was a huge portion. If I wasn't so hungry, I could've brought home for some seconds. I wish it was a bit creamier or thicker the sauce. Other than that, would get their pasta again! Can never go wrong with a vodka pasta. I did also ask for grilled chicken in the pasta. Half my pieces were really thin so given I was charged $8 added chicken, mm not the best. Fettuccine Alfredo - 2/5 Honestly wasn't the best. Granted this was on the kids menu but it seems to be kinda bland and lacked a lot of cheese flavour to it and seasoning. Kinda tasted like store bought sauce. Cosmopolitan Martini - 4/5 She was delicious!!! I love when I can't taste the alcohol in a martini but also getting a little dose of a drink with my food. It was sweet and yummy which is exactly what I requested. You can ask the server how you want your drink to be made exactly. $16 though, not sure if it's worth that much. Tried the pastas here and was a little bit underwhelmed by the flavours. The penne alla vodka wasn't bad but was missing some seasoning. We added chicken to it and it was a tad dry. The fettuccine Alfredo was also lacking salt and pepper. It did come off the kids menu so that could be a reason. There wasn't a lot of staff around for help but they were all friendly. I took my gf here on saturday to celebrate her bday. When I was doing research, I found out that this was one of the only restaurants in the GTA serving tableside pasta in the cheese wheel. Calling in to the restaurant, I had been told that the chef usually does the cheese wheel pasta on saturday night so you can imagine my immense disappointment when I found out upon asking (once we were seated), that the chef was actually out of town on THIS particular saturday night when I wanted my gf to experience something special. Anyways, we were sat right away upon arrival and the servers hung our coats on hooks near the entrance (within visual range). We never actually got a designated server (idk if the hostess forgot about us or not) but throughout the night we took it upon ourselves to flag down a very young gentleman named Jordan who provided great service to us throughout the night. Seafood platter for 2: This was actually a lot of food. I was skeptical when we ordered it but it came with a ton of seafood which justified the near $40 price. The seafood was also cooked well. Everything was so tender. The calamari rings in particular. And the battering was light and crispy. We also really liked the fresh citrus dip on the side that the platter came with. Dipping the seafood really helped to cut back on the richness of the batter. Ravioli de maddalena: So this dish was actually a lil disappointing. It was supposed to be the signature pasta of the resto but aside from the nice flavour of the veal (which my gf didn't particularly enjoy either since she said it tasted like lamb), the pasta was too thick and the simple butter sauce didn't coat the noodles well enough. Fettuccine carbonara: We both unanimously agreed that my dish tasted superior. The sauce clung to the noodles way better. It was more rich and full bodied. The noodles were actually al dente and had better chew. The egg yolk on top was a nice added touch. Tiramisu: WOW. This dessert was a showstopper for sure. Most legit italian restos will have a really delicious, homemade tiramisu and this place was no exception. It was just as good as the tiramisu we had at Il Postino on Main St Unionville. We went here for my birthday celebration last Friday; a group of 4 adults and one child, it was my first visit and to be honest we were excited to try this spot since it's in our neighbourhood . This restaurant is very cozy inside with low lighting and an intimate feel however it was very loud; larger groups were dining at the tables beside us. This restaurant is severely under staff. Our table was out of water for more than 30 mins and we asked 3 times, different people, before we received a beverage for the child. Our server did not check on us until our dinner was almost finished after taking the order. The grilled octopus we ordered was rubbery and lacked both salt and flavour but the plates were just dropped, no one came back. The dinner was much worst, plates were dropped onto the table without clearing any of the previous dishes leaving us to stack the appetizer plates in the centre of the table so we could have some space to eat. The pasta lacking both flavour and the texture of undercooked and the lamb only had salt and pepper due to gluten restriction but again not enough. The staff didn't check to see if anyone wanted more drinks or pepper or cheese etc. Just really poor quality food and mediocre service for the price. I do not recommend this restaurant if you're looking for service or quality food. read more

it seems to me, there are two good reasons for going to a restaurant. First, for really good food. Second, to enjoy yourself with friends. We went to Folco's in Markham early (5:30) on a Saturday evening (Sept. 20/25). Other than rubbery calamari, the food was delicious. However, conversation amongst friends was almost impossible because of what can be best described as horrible or boorish behaviour at another table three tables away from us. A group of four people - probably in their 30s - were talking so loudly that it was impossible for us to hear one another at our table. In actual fact, there were times when they were quite literally screaming at one another. Literally screaming! Another couple at a different table even further from the screamers than we were were visibly annoyed just as we were. When I spoke to the waitress about this screaming, she simply commented that it was a little noisier this evening. This group ruined our evening. The waitress was in a tough spot, but decided to do nothing. Folco's was going to be our new "go to" place. Now, it is our "no go" place. Never again. read more

What a wonderful experience! The staff are pleasant and warm. They welcomed everyone with so much respect and with their friendly spirit. The minute we walked in to the restaurant, Ms. Juli and Ms. Angie welcomed us and seated us at our table. Our wonderful waiter, Mr. Stefan was very very helpful and cheerful. He helped us to chose a very good bottle of red wine and our main course. The head chef, "the owner" of Folco's, greeted us at our table with a friendly smile and a great conversation. (April 2020) Folco's has been a staple of Main Street Markham for many more years than i've lived in the area (15+). This was my 2nd experience "dining" there. I was REALLY craving Italian food for my birthday. After viewing Folco's weekly specials, i knew i found THE spot to order my b-day dinner from. Once Covid-19 hit, we found ourselves less inclined to eat at restaurants as often as we used to (2-3 times a week). We made the decision to only eat locally OR at our regular spots within York Region for take-out and curbside pick up. Folco's was one of the 1st places we tried curb side pick up at and the whole experience was flawless and wow - the food was delicious! Every Wednesday, the specials are posted on their website and Facebook page. They are open for curbside pick up Wednesday to Saturday. They gave my hubby a pick up time. He pulled up waited out front and they brought the food to the car in bags wearing gloves and placed the items in the trunk of our car. Here is what we ordered: Bruschetta - The crostini was served separately from the tomato topping so that the bread wouldn't get soggy. The tomatoes were seasoned so well and bursting with flavour, just the right amount of garlic, e.v.o.o and fresh basil. I was eating the tomatoes on their own in addition to piling it on the crispy crostini! Veal tenderloin with Wild Mushroom Ravioli - this is what my husband ordered. He LOVED his food! He is a big meat eater, but very picky about cuts and how meat is seasoned and how it is cooked. The meat was cooked and seasoned very well as was the temperature of the meat. Just the right amount of pink! His (homemade) pasta was cooked perfectly and he loved the flavour of the ravioli. I was unable to try this dish because I am allergic to wild mushrooms, but my husband savoured every last bite! Chicken parmigiana - I had initially ordered the veal parmigiana, but they ran out of veal. This was not an issue for me at all as I LOVE both! Generous portion with 2 pieces of tender, lightly breaded chicken scallopine. Just the right amount of tomato sauce and cheese. I could taste the chicken, sauce & cheese. The chicken parm. came with a side of handmade penne. Caesar salad - generous portion of salad with house made dressing. The dressing was not over powered with garlic, it was light and the crunchie lemon infused croutons were a perfect addition to add a hint of citrus to the salad. We also ordered 2 slices of chocolate cake. They added in a free slice for my birthday along with a sparkler. If you are craving some homemade flavours from Italy, this is THE place to eat/be! DELICIOUS ITALIAN FOOD My family and I came here on Labour Day weekend. We made reservations a couple days beforehand by phone. When making reservations, maybe indicate whether you wanna dine inside, on the patio, or on a picnic table(lol...). We were prompted to sit at the picnic table but I kindly asked if it was possible to sit at one of the patio tables considering most were empty. With success, the server was able to grant us seating at one of the patio tables, but the server also informed us that a different group reserved the table at 7pm (approx. 2hrs from that time), which was fine. Service was fine. They may have been understaffed due to COVID which is understandable. We got a complimentary bread basket with olive oil and balsamic, which was nice. For appetizers, we got the Caprese salad and Escargot. Both were delicious. For mains, we got the lasagna, scallop and mussels pasta, Rack of Lamb special, and Fettuccine Carbonara special. All four mains were also delicious! I've tried Carbonara pasta from many places, but this one is my favorite, speck was used instead of bacon. The Rack of Lamb came with the Wild Mushroom Ravioli (approx 4 large pieces of ravioli), it was delicious and you could really taste the wild mushroom. The lasagna and scallop and mussel pasta were good too, but I personally preferred the other two, which were Specials. FYI, the restaurants Specials change weekly apparently, so just a heads up. Overall, I really did enjoy the food here. The price is on the high end, the whole experience was approx. $170. It's probably more expensive than Scaddabush but then again it is a higher quality than Scaddabush. I'll probably come back eventually. read more

My favourite Italian restaurant in Markham. I prefer the indoor ambiance and can't wait for indoor dining to be allowed again. I appreciate that Folco's patio is covered because we've had a lot of uncertain weather lately. I called a couple days in advance and was able to get a table for a weeknight date night. I believe they also take some walkins too but it's best to call ahead. Pasta dishes are always seasoned perfectly and portioned just big enough to leave you some space to share a dessert. I know they used to offer the cheese wheel pasta, but I never got the chance to try it yet. I'm not sure if it's still served or if that's on hold until indoor dining is allowed again. read more

They list themselves as closing at 10:30 p.m. but when we arrived, they said they stop serving at 8:30 p.m. That's ridiculous. Please don't list yourself as closing at 10:30 then? Thought we were safe arriving TWO hours -- yes, TWO hours -- before the listed closing time but NOPE. Abominable. This has actually happened before, years ago, but we decided to try again. it's a Saturday night, I checked online and it showed full booking but I called and got my table. Unfortunately they didn't have pizza this night. The restaurant was completely full when I entered but the server Jordan greeted us immediately with lovely smile. Many families were seated in groups enjoying Italian homemade cooking, the vibe was joyful. Although just the 2 of us, we were eager to try many different dishes. The salad with fig, walnut, peach, crouton and arugula topped with a huge mozzarella ball was fresh and delicious, the grilled octopus was also fresh and good, not mentioned about the grilled chicken spaghetti and lasagna. We could taste the freshness of homemade al-dente spaghetti and tomato sauce. I must say the servers were very welcoming and service was good, they'd come to check on us to ensure everything was alright from time to time and they shared conversations with us. We were introduced to this lovely restaurant by my friend (they had their engagement party there and go every year for her birthday and other special dates) years ago but I've never written a review. We went last night and at 5:00pm there were already quite a few tables taken. We had reservations so we were promptly seated. I love the cozy feel and would love to one day sit in one of the window seats overlooking Markham Main St. while snow falls! (One day!) We decided to share a couple of the appies of the day: panko Brie with winterberry compote, and the buffalo mozzarella salad with candied walnuts and orange slices. Both were so delicious that I forgot to take photos! I did however take pics of our mains. I resorted back to my staple: wild mushroom ravioli. This time there was crisped prosciutto which totally made the meal! It added a nice contrasting texture to the ravioli. Hubby had the eggplant parmigiana which sounds so plain but so delicious! The sauce on the spaghetti was so flavourful. Sometimes I don't like tomato sauce because it can be too salty or too sour (or both!) but this was just right. We ended up devouring the ravioli and saving the eggplant for tonight. It was just as good as leftovers for dinner! Side note: we've had their pizza before too and have told them that their pizzas are better than the ones we've had in Italy! read more

My family and I had an excellent dinner last night. All the pastas are made in-house and were delicious. The portion sizes were great too - generous enough but not so over the top that you're ridiculously stuffed. The tableside pasta special was a penne with mushrooms and house made sausage that was tossed in an 85-pound Grana Padano cheese wheel. I would definitely recommend that at least one person at the table orders that dish, so everyone gets to enjoy the cheese wheel demonstration. The cook on the rack of lamb special was perfect (medium rare as requested), the flavors were phenomenal, completely well with the mushroom ravioli in creamy sauce. A couple of things held me back from giving Folco's five stars: first, it would have been nice if the entrees had incorporated a vegetable, to make each dish feel like a complete meal - perhaps a couple asparagus spears with the lamb or some halved grape tomatoes with the penne for example. Second, although we had called to make a reservation earlier in the day, when we arrived, the restaurant had no record of our reservation. We ended up being seated about half an hour after our originally scheduled time - not the end of the world, but certainly not a five star experience. I've been here multiple times with no issues, however the last time I was there the host (long blonde hair, younger girl in her 20s) was EXTREMELY rude. I had a reservation for myself and my husband and asked to sit inside. She said there were no seats inside and put us on the patio.. We didn't want to sit on the patio so when the server came I asked if it was possible to move, which to our surprise, wasn't a problem at all although the hostess made it one. There were many empty tables inside, which shows the hostess was just trying to feel important saying no to us. I later ordered the Carpaccio, which the hostess delivered. I don't know why someone who is hostessing is serving food but conviently, there was a long blonde hair wrapped around our food. Not laying on the food, but physically wrapped around... I told our server, and she brought another one, althoght it wasn't complimentary which to me is horrible curstomer service. Due to this expereince and the server (Angie) who I have had MANY times not doing anything about it, I no longer wish to come here. Very disgusted in how everything went and it was my husband's first time and he refuses to ever give it another chance. Just to show you what horrible staff can do to your experience. I googled a good Italian restaurant near my house and this restaurant came up. I read the reviews and decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday as there was patio with patio heaters. Unfortunately, due to Covid lockdown my reservation was cancelled, so I opted for take out instead! My oh my... the food was AMAZING. I literally loved everything that I ordered and so did my boyfriend. I started with the calamari... this tasted amazing and it was breaded nicely. After that I ordered a couple of mains. First main was the crusted lamb and ravioli... this was SOOO GOOD! The lamb was cooked to perfection and the ravioli sauce was sooo good that me and my boyfriend were saying we want just this pasta available to order! Second and third mains we opted for the different pastas. We ordered the wild mushroom ravioli and the pasta pescatore, and both were really good! There was definitely a lot of seafood in the pasta pescatore and worth every penny! Needlessly to say, I will be back and will continue to support and order take out from here until we are able to dine in at this restaurant. Truly amazing food! read more

We tried spaghetti and meatballs, and the ravioli de Madalena which were both pretty good. They put parmesan on top to your liking which was nice. The ravioli had a good amount of meat in them (but were quite cheesy so beware if you're not fond of cheese) and the spaghetti's tomato sauce seemed fresh. However, even though the service wasn't particularly bad, it was obvious that the servers there weren't treating us the same as the other diners. This might have to do with the fact that we look quite young, and we were using a gift certificate. It took a while for them to take our order, and they didn't go through any of the specials and I felt too uncomfortable to ask to hear them. At the end of the meal we wanted to look at desserts but they didn't ask us if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Again, at this point I felt it was a bit weird to ask. We also had to ask for our water to be filled. I tried to give the servers the benefit of the doubt, but this was pretty difficult to do when I could hear the servers go on and on about the specials and what's good on menu to the table that was literally right next to us. read more

Worst Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Food was salty and as an Italian, was insulted by the claim to be Italian since it didn't compare. Plus, the waitress was hung over, spilled my drink all over my food. Didn't replace my food and was non apologetic. She said she wouldn't charge me for the drink she spilled but still did!!! I am starting from the beginning of our evening experience with this Italian restaurant. I parked our vehicle in the parking lot behind the bank from across the street, but was told after the fact, that there is parking at the rear of this place. You just have to drive through this narrow driveway to access it. We were early, despite the fact that reservations were made for our table. The waiting area is not much of a waiting area. It is the narrow entrance/exit area and there is few seating, so it's basically standing around for a bit and trying to stay out of people's way. The restaurant is not that big...A bit claustrophobic and the lighting is fairly dim. When we were shown to our table, the lighting above, was blown out. We were told that despite having the fixture repaired a number of times, with the restaurant structure being a century or so old, it had a 'mind of its own'. We basically had to read the drink and food menu either by candle-light (available during the evening at each table) or by the lighting of our cellulars. Our waitress was extremely friendly and had a sense of humour. Kudos to her, which is the reason I am providing the third star for my rating. Bless her heart! She knew the specials of the day and was very professional when serving us our drinks and our meals. Now for the food...There was no pizza offered during our Saturday evening dining experience. Apparently it is only offered during certain days of the week. Just NOT Saturday. So most of us at our table ordered pasta dishes. In my opinion, the dishes were slightly bland. But you could tell that the pasta was definitely hand-made. There's the bonus. Same goes with the dessert. No true pizzaz but still somewhat satisfactory. I guess, in my case, if your better half is your personal chef and cooks with a lot of flavoring and is a cake-decorator, nothing else beats their cooking. Parking is a bit difficult on Main Street Markham. They have parking in the back, but we always parked in public parking lot (it's free anyways). Services are great. Extremely friendly staff. I enjoyed the atmosphere and their foods every time. They provide curb side pick up during COVID-19 lockdown. They make sure that there's ~10mins gap between pick ups. Love how caring they are!! Folcos is the best thing that happened to me. I signed up for their newletter and am always happy to get notified of new dishes, ESPECIALLY when the table side cheese wheel is around. I have yet to try the cheese wheel, but even the regular pastas are delicious. The tiramisu comes deconstructed, but all the better! Delicious pastas, great service but long wait. We came to dinner here on a Friday night and got seated right away as we made a reservation for 7:45. There was a party of 20 guests upstairs that made service extremely slow. We ordered 5 minutes after sitting down and our bruschetta came out 30 mins after we put in our order, and our pastas came out a little over an hour after putting in the order. Service: the waitress was so nice and helpful and would always reassure us that our food was coming. When she said the food was going to come out soon, she meant it... the food actually came out soon. If the wait was going to be long, she told us the wait was going to be long so we knew what to expect. Bruschetta: the bruschetta was delicious. The tomatoes were fresh and the bread had a small drizzle of olive oil overtop. Ravioli de Madalena: The ravioli was deliciously stuffed with veal and topped with cheese. Pasta in the cheese wheel: The fettucine was spun in a peccorino cheese wheel with proscuitto added to the pasta and this was SOO delicious. The gentleman who mixed the pasta in the wheel explained the whole process of where the ingredients came from, how he was going to toss it etc. Conclusion: Come to this place for authentic, amazing Italian food. Come on a weekday (Monday-Thursday) for probably quicker service read more

Dark romantic atmosphere. So dark that I could hardly see my food, lol. You get started off with bread. Tried the carpaccio which is paper thin sliced beef with a small toping of veggies. This app was done very well and would definitely order again. Also tried the escargot. Had a nice layer of crusted cheese and was another great appetizer. For our main dish we tried an item from their specials menu. I think it was elk meat with bone marrow on pasta. This dish was good but some of the meat was too tough. Also tried the mushroom ravioli from. The regular menu. Both dishes were great. Service was on point. Overall a great dining experience. read more

Ok, so you have to go there. My wife and I decided to order a salad and a pizza. The pizza was very good but the salad was outstanding.
