I've been a loyal customer here for years, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. This morning, they had no bread available, and when I asked about it, the response I got felt dismissive--like I was asking something unreasonable. Unfortunately, the coffee was also undrinkable, and this hasn't been a one-time issue. On a previous visit, I mentioned that the coffee tasted very diluted, but instead of addressing the concern, I was told that no one else had complained. That response felt discouraging and dismissive of my experience as a customer. This place is thee every time I go there it seems like nobody wants to work. Theirs always crazy line and you wait and wait. This am I go in and theirs some girl on her phone in the back as the girl at the register was just stacking up orders for coffee finally the girl from the back gets up and starts to help and when I finally get my coffee and drive away I find that she didn't even steam the coffee it was ice cold. These people need to pay attention to their service and their attention to detail. But I will never go back... I frequent this bakery and am always blown away how good everything is. The moment you walk in you're greeted with the smell of fresh baked goods and a team that warm and welcoming. The display cases are packed with amazing pan dulces, cakes, other items, and everting tastes just as good as it looks. I tried several it's including their champurrado and each item was delicious, fresh, and clearly made with care. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive, which made the entire experience even better. You can tell they really take pride in what they do and are commitment in proving high quality baked goods. I ordered an 8" guava cake for my mom's bday for pickup and it was ready to go at my scheduled pickup time. The cake was packaged in a beautiful box, and the cake itself was stunning! The guava part of the cake is a guava jam layered in between vanilla cake. I believe it's the same guava jam they sell in-store. The vanilla cake was fluffy and moist; it was a similar texture to a tres leches cake. I also ordered several conchas to go. My favorite was the horchata-lavendar concha! My only critique is that the conchas were super sweet, but it would probably be great to balance with a black coffee. Inside is super spacious and tons of people were studying/working in the cafe. Favorite concha's in uptown If you love moist concha's this is your spot. Their mini concha's are my best option when bringing to gatherings as they are the perfect size. Their cake slices pair so well with their cafe de olla. My favorite is their strawberry cake and love that they use a light chiffon cream on it so it is not overly sweet. read more

And we could not get it out of our mind, so we had to go buy the cake for ourselves at home. we drove to the Pico Rivera location and the lady working there was phenomenal. She kept feeding us cake. Found this spot walking uptown Whittier on a hot summer day, their advertising of their Tajín drinks caught our attention. As we walked in you can already smell the cafe de olla and fresh baked bread. We had a sample of their main breads and ate them all before the picture! But very delicious my favorite was the guava cheese roll! The Tajín drinks were both good but the mango is top tier. Hibiscus tasted a bit watered down but everything else made up for it. Visited La Monarca Bakery today for our usual Cafe' De Olla and Soyrizo burrito which never disappoints. The price of the burrito is on the higher side for what you get but it's still a good tasting combo with the cafe. Their Cafe' De Olla is the best. Pan dulce is tasty but a little on the dry side possibly due to their Health conscious ingredients. They have a wide variety of new flavors like their Macha concha and lavender flavored conchas... they also have cakes, cookies and breakfast foods. Friendly service. The ambience is cute. It's a little small in there but adequate for a decent amount of customers. They had a fair array of baked goods (pan dulce, cakes, cookies) and coffee as well as teas. I had the horchata cafe de olla, it was good with a perfect balance of both. My husband had a hot cafe de olla and he said it was on point. We bought a tres leches cake to bring home. The texture and consistency were good. Presentation was great too. However, it lacked in flavor. Overall experience was good. This is not a norm are we frequent as we o Lu found it as we were passing through the area. I gave it a 4 star because I don't know if the other breads, baked items are good. I love how vibrant the colors of everything at this location is. This is a pretty spacious location and they have a good amount of seating. The service is pretty fast and the establishment is pretty clean. The conchas are very fresh and the food and drinks are delicious. The soy chorizo burrito is surprisingly very good and very cheesy. Had gone in person to place a large order for an event. Paid in full, confirmed my order a few times to ensure everything was correct and let them know what date and time I would be there to pick it up. The day of the event, I was late to pick up my order because I forgot about the Farmer's Market traffic/parking. I went in, wasn't even remotely acknowledged (as per usual), and finally the girl that was working the counter saunters over. I let her know I was there to pick up my order. She was looking at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. I explained my order and showed her my receipt. She went over to a different area, took awhile, and then came to tell me they don't have it. I asked her what she meant they don't "have it" and she shrugged and said they don't have it. They apparently didn't make it, even though I went in person to order, pay, and even arrived after the time I said (which would have given them even more time to get it ready). I asked to speak to a Manager, but she is apparently never there. I asked how I can reach someone and she told me I can call the store. WHY WOULD I CALL THE STORE IF THE MANAGER IS NEVER THERE? How is there no way to get in contact with a manager or owner? What kind of establishment is this? The lady wasn't even remotely apologetic about the situation. She said: "I mean, I can try and make it now", which was ridiculous since I needed it packed and ready to go already. Also, they didn't have enough of what I ordered to even be able to fulfill the order. I try my absolute best to support small businesses, but the complete lack of customer service, mediocre products and overall disrespect is just too much for me to ever go back. Every time I've gone in, no one is ever acknowledged (a simple "hi" goes a long way) , they are short-staffed so everyone is running around and orders and often made wrong/forgotten (I've witnessed it), and they just don't seem interested in providing any good service. They really need to do better. I will never return. read more
