I have been here many times but the quality has truly dropped. I order 3 items which was a concha (good), a giant flat swirl cinnamon looking like an oversized elephant ear (its okay but a bit dry), and a puff pastry with a glaze of some sort(burnt inside and out) which I threw away as it smelled and tasted burnt. This is my fault for not taking the receipt but I was told would be charged around $5.25 dollars plus a credit card fee of $0.50 for 3 items but I just saw my credit statement and its $8.25. read more

Not only was he attitude poor made it worse by charging three dollars for a cardboard box that probably cost $.20. A true delight! This bakery has a sister location in Montebello on Whittier Blvd & Garfield which also provides a great selection of "pan dulce"/sweet bread. This location located in Uptown Whittier has convenient street parking and a great selection of pan dulce, tamales, champorado, bolilos, cakes, pastries, and sandwiches. The selections are always fresh and the service is excellent. I highly recommend the bolilos which are so soft and perfect for making sandwiches or stuffing with cheese and frijoles (beans). I have no idea who the lady was who helped my mother in law, but she shared with me how rude she was with her. I see now based off other reviews that many others have experienced the same. They make a pretty good tamale. I ordered Tamales last year for my holiday dinner and they were loaded with meat and the prepare a very good chili sauce. I tried the green pork, the red beef and the chili and cheese. I haven't tried their sweet bread yet, maybe on my next trip :) read more

Their pan dulce is good but nothing to rave about, just good pan dulce. Their service is what will keep me from returning. I've placed two large orders of their mini pan dulce and the service was not great in both instances. The first order I placed two days before I needed the bread and it was for 120 pieces of the mini pan. I was lectured on how they needed more notice and they were going to make an exception, etc. But they took my order and it didn't even bother me so much because I get it, as much advanced notice is always a good thing. Part of the issue is for larger orders is you can't just call in your order, you have to go in in-person to pay for the order in advance. The second time, I placed the order 5 days in advanced and when I went in to order, it was again for over 100+ mini breads. When I ordered the bread I asked for an assortment of the mini pan dulce (the same thing I ordered the first time) only thing is this time the girl that assisted me on this occasion told me I couldn't order an assortment, I had to give her the exact number of each type of breads. Again ordering an assortment the first time was not an issue because they're all the same price. I just went along with it and gave her totals. I did ask that the bread be boxed in 6 different boxes because they were bring dropped off in multiple locations, and again it's over 100+ pieces. She then goes on to tell me she doesn't know if that can be done, she'll let me know, they may need to charge me for boxes, etc. Well the day I picked up the bread, she charged me $19 aside from what I had already paid for the bread for the cost of boxes, plain simple cake boxes. They're just not customer friendly, at least not for larger orders so I won't be back. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS. I love their champurrado. I'll risk being late to work for it. But this woman that has been working the counter for a while, older Hispanic woman. Maybe 40's. Short hair. Speaks Spanish only, she's SO RUDE TO ME. idk why! I'm honestly very polite. Say hello, thank you etc. I smile. I do not speak Spanish. But I can conduct a transaction despite that. I understand the basics like dollar amounts, etc. she won't acknowledge me at all. She won't even greet me when I am next at the counter. She won't make eye contact. She won't even hand my change back to me, she'll drop it on the counter. And when the next person walks up, she gladly greets them in Spanish. So because of her, I'll likely never be back. It's enough. The other people that work there have never treated me this way. There's a younger girl who works there with vibrant hair and she's so cool, but this woman is just nasty. This is a great place to go if you want fresh authentic Mexican bread. They always have a wide selection of all types of bread from sweet bread to bread that you can use to make sandwiches. They also have candies they also have ice cream and Mexican popsicles. I just recommend for you to go early in the morning because the certain breads will run out and it might take a minute for them to make a new ones. I highly recommend this place just make sure that you're prepared to find parking because parking is a little difficult. Horrible customer service and overpriced. Went in to place a two tier cake - a basic plain one. The lady who "helped me" was going to charge me 350. No decorations to it or anything. When I repeated 350 because I was just shocked, she nodded her head saying yes to me and told me " I have until Monday if you want to place the order and walked away." A really nice bakery in uptown Whittier. I took a "me" day and came here on a weekday afternoon. I asked for recommendation from the friendly cashier and was offered a sample of some cookies to try. Bread was so sour and old, their champurado was great but other than that we will not be returning.

We are very disappointed in the quality of our baked goods. We ordered them in advance for pickup on Christmas Eve day. They were the dessert for our guests. While serving them, they were stale and dry. They were not fresh. I waited until Monday after the holiday. We were busy with family. I went into the bakery and instantly the lady was on the defense. She told me nobody else complained, was yelling at me and rudely told me I could not get my money back. I did not want my money back. She could of worked with me. I have no need to lie. I don't speak Spanish. That was my only downfall bc I didn't know what any of the treats were and the host wasn't able to tell me what anything really was so we spoke Spanglish with lots of different words until we figured it out. I wanted to give more stars because the pan dulce is pretty good but ... the lack of customer service prevents me from doing so. We walked in, got ignored- another customer walks in, "Hi, Good Morning!" Waiting to purchase, as soon as she checks out the person in front of us, she walks away to the back without saying anything ... are we invisible?? She comes back 2 minutes later with the another person's order who is behind us, still ignoring us. The baker in the back stops what he's doing to help us.
