Yuca con chicharon

My wife and I have gone to a few other Salvadoran spots near Whittier, but Sivar Treats is truly a hidden gem. Located off Lambert Rd in Whittier, it's a small but cozy place that really delivers on authenticity. As usual, we like to check what other locals have to say before trying a new spot, and the reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. They did not disappoint! I am always looking for authenticity in food and this place delivered. The pupusas were awesome and full of flavor, especially the pupusas de queso con loroco, which were absolutely delicious. My wife was also very satisfied with her carne asada plate, which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Not only is the food great, but their aguas frescas are bomb!!!! Huge variety and all homemade. You can really taste the quality. Also, their desserts are sooooo good!!! We tried three of them and were very satisfied. My personal favorite was the flan, super smooth and full of flavor. Prices and service are also great. If you're in the area and want to taste some of the best pupusas in town, come here. You won't be disappointed.

Charged extra for sides ($0.75 each plus tax)

This was my first time trying out this place and honestly my experience was awful due to poor customer service. I had two issues to be specific: 1) Took 45 minutes to get our order ready. Not sure if this is normal but the restaurant wasn't too busy (total of 3 parties including us). Also, there was a couple that arrived 15 minutes after us and for some reason they received their food first. 2) Another issue was being charged extra for sides (curtido & salsa) . I'm okay with paying extra for sides. However, I think that should apply to every customer (note: the couple dining in were not charged extra when they asked for extra curtido). I was charged $0.75 for each side with a total of $1.50 plus tax. The second issue mentioned above was with the male cashier (dyed hair). To be honest I don't believe they charge extra for sides because when I asked him 'how much extra for sides?' He didn't have an answer ready for me and had to go to the kitchen to ask. Overall, the food was great no issues there. I really enjoyed the pupusas. However, after my experience I don't see myself coming back anytime soon.

The pupusas are AMAZING! You must order the yuca. It is the best YUCA I've tried. A cute little hole in the wall, the service was welcoming. If you are in whittier and looking for great pupusas, come here.

This was my husband and I first time we find it on instagram and we have been looking for a place for good pupusa's. And I have to say these were fantastic. The service was great very pleasant and welcoming. It is a very cute place and clean we will definitely be coming back. And will be telling all our friends. Pupusa' we're so good and very full of flavor.

We enjoyed the Salvadoran meal.

The pupusas were hot, fresh, and made when we ordered. Plus so tasty. I got one bean and cheese and one just cheese. Yum! The toppings were delicious, too. I had water to drink, but the cucumber water and other flavored waters looked refreshing, too. The man who took our order was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed talking to him. The dining room was small, clean, and cozy.

Pupusa slathered in bean sauce, salad, and salsa!

Not my best photo but I was too busy eating and almost forgot to take a quick snap! Work ordered two types of pupusas, cheese and pork. Both were delicious and ADDICTING. The rice, curtido (fermented cabbage condiment, bean sauce, and NON-spicy salsa complimented the pupusas perfectly. I was grateful the salsa wasn't spicy since my spice tolerance isn't too high. I can't speak to the ambience since I only tried it via catering. However, I can say that everyone enjoyed the food a lot! For $10 a person to get 2 pupusas each, I'd say it's a good deal as well!

Prices on their app when you try to check out

The service at this restaurant is always glacially slow, but we come back because the food is good. Today, however, we tried to order off of their website. Not a delivery app, just preordering off the website. First the food was 50% more expensive than at the restaurant, but then when you try to check out the prices jump another 25%. The staff there argued it was taxes and fees. Taxes are 10% and credit card fees are 3-6% at most. 75% more is heinous. They refused to stop gaslighting for over 15 minutes. They claimed you could cancel your order online which you can't. In short, this place will actively try to cheat you and lie to your face. It's just not worth it.

I have been coming here for a while now. The restaurant is clean and ambiance is relaxing. Employees here is friendly and helpful. The food you have to wait a little since they make to order but I like that is freshly made, jugo is also delicious. Try it out and see what you think coz I definitely enjoy this place.

Pupusas are sooo good here! Not greasy which is what i look for in pupusas. Came twice and brought others with me and they loved the food! The place is a bit small and can get busy quickly for lunch and dinner! Will be coming often for the food!

Some delicious pupusas

Restaurant inside

Oh my gosh! Im from El Salvador and ever since coming to the US, i had given up on finding good pupusas. However, I came here and these are the closest they will get to pupusas back home. The cheese is amazing (we got revueltas) and it is so so good. Honestly, the carne asada plate was alright. The carne was so good but the rest was like okay i mean it's nothing too crazy. I knew it was gonna be good from the moment we walked in bc there were a bunch of salvi parents and grandparents. The service was also very good and super attentive

Everything was absolutely delicious. The meats were grilled perfectly. The asada had a great char and was flavorful without being overly salty, and the shrimp were cooked just right -- tender with a nice smoky finish from the grill. The pupusas were clearly made fresh and full of flavor. The revuelta had that classic savory, cheesy richness, while the loroco pupusa had a unique, slightly floral earthiness that makes Salvadoran food so special. Both were comforting and satisfying. The horchata really stood out. It's different from Mexican horchata and has a nutty, deeper flavor profile with a strong black sesame note that was incredibly delicious and memorable. The maracuyá drink was bright, tangy, and refreshing -- a perfect balance to the richness of the food. Overall, every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of authentic flavor. Loroco Bistro is an easy recommendation if you're craving hearty, delicious Salvadoran food. Definitely coming back.

I was a waitress and didn't throw dishes, menus and utensils to the customers ( running to bring things, making a noise by putting the dishes on the table and rushing to leave the table). They bring appetizers with no extra plates to serve. Missing orders so what's the point of rushing us to order when they don't bring the items. Asking all the time what is needed on the table which items needed are common sense/ routine to serve a table. Waitress talking to customers over other tables... I like to tip service above 30% but sadly I didn't feel it this time. If you are new I will understand if you kindly let the customers know ahead of time. With all being said, this was not acceptable customer service. I will continue supporting our Salvadoreans Restaurants but please improve the service. Life is tough, living costs is high, we are still eating out and supporting our Salvadoreans Restaurants fellows, be thankful that you waitress have a job. Many are unemployed and wishing to have a job. I really understand customer service and serving are not easy tasks. Each day is a new beginning hope tomorrow customers will be delighted for your service.
