I have been gatekeeping this business because it's my go-to pupusa spot and I'm here to make it right. The pupusas here are so freaking good. Not too greasy, just the right amount. My favorite thing to get is the Rapidito. It comes with two smaller size pupusas (but still pretty big IMO, a side of frijoles, and platano frito!!! You can request the pupusas with ANY filling. It hits the spot! I get that to go for lunch. It comes with curtido - so good - and salsa. It's one of those comfort foods, ya know? Pupusas isn't the only thing they sell, either. They have a full menu of a variety of food. I've never actually ate there. The dining hall is quite big and looks comfortable. I see older folk there so you know it's good. They have TVs and I'm not sure if they have a full bar but they serve something. I spotted plantain chips in a bag on top of a case of pan dulce that looked good too. I feel like this would be a nice spot to chill, have good food and a beer or something. Today, I ordered two Rapiditos on the Yelp app but it didn't let me choose the filling of the pupusas, so I called. They knew exactly what I was talking about. They told me they'd tell la Señora. Do they have someone's grandma back there making pupusas?! No wonder they're so good! And she hustles, too, because when I got there, I sat down ready to wait but they were packing up my order. Took less than 5 minutes! read more

Service is not the best, the food is ok but they charge too much in automatic gratuity for what you get. My meal was around 50 and my total was almost 80 and they never came to check on us, I had to get up and ask for stuff constantly at the counter. If youre going to eat there I would order ahead to go pay and sit down because if they see a large group they have a huge fee even if its a baby or kids who aren't eating read more

This place was so good! My bf and I came on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed. All the staff were very friendly:) it was my first time here.. we kept it simple and ordered pupusas and congri. Pupusas were so delicious!! I ordered two revueltas and bf ordered bean and cheese and one lo roko and pork. I could only finish one of course.. and I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes! read more

In a strip mall with decent parking. Place was clean, bathroom was spotless. The food was pretty good. The pupusas were the star... big and filled perfectly. We had the Desayuno Maya, the Tipico, a couple of pupusas and the chicharron with fried yuca. The breakfasts were great. Eggs, blended beans, sour cream, cheese, etc. I thought the chicharron could have used a little more seasoning. But the fried yuca was delicious! The service is why there is a star missing. And I almost took off 2 stars, it was so bad. They had us sit ourselves and just pointed at a table. It took them 10 minutes to give us a menu. The food took a little too long to make. We didn't get drink refills and we had to go to the register to pay. If you can live with that, then this is a great place for Salvi food. read more

Came for lunch on a random Monday with some coworkers. Food took a while to come out. When it did come out it wasn't hot at all, warm at best. We all ordered water but there was no checkup on us after the food was delivered or refills on our water. Mediocre food with meh service. Won't be coming back read more

We always come here but sadly things changed. The food is still good, the chicharrón is overcooked and stale. Ambience is still good. Service: sadly very disappointing. I was a waitress and didn't throw dishes, menus and utensils to the customers ( running to bring things, making a noise by putting the dishes on the table and rushing to leave the table). They bring appetizers with no extra plates to serve. Missing orders so what's the point of rushing us to order when they don't bring the items. Asking all the time what is needed on the table which items needed are common sense/ routine to serve a table. Waitress talking to customers over other tables... I like to tip service above 30% but sadly I didn't feel it this time. If you are new I will understand if you kindly let the customers know ahead of time. With all being said, this was not acceptable customer service. I will continue supporting our Salvadoreans Restaurants but please improve the service. Life is tough, living costs is high, we are still eating out and supporting our Salvadoreans Restaurants fellows, be thankful that you waitress have a job. Many are unemployed and wishing to have a job. I really understand customer service and serving are not easy tasks. Each day is a new beginning hope tomorrow customers will be delighted for your service. read more

So sad... I gave them 5 stars last time. I recently went for some pupusas and was very disappointed. They hardly put any chicharron and I believe they are using a cheaper cheese. It was definitely less salty, less flavor. Same greasyness (a good thing) but the amazing flavor I boasted about previously, was not there. Not sure if they're trying to save money or have a new cook or just changed ingredients but I really wish they would go back to their old ways. Now I have to look for a new local pupusas place.. read more

Pupusas here are very good, the rice alone is to die for. It's affordable. It's very busy, but the turn around for tables is fast. Highly recommend read more

I love Luna Maya, but unfortunately this time it was very disappointing. Sadly, after my children had already eaten their pupusas with salsa, I noticed the salsa had a strange taste. I think I could not make a fair review on the food because the service was absolutely horrible. We were ignored after asking for items like refills. I had passed this place on several occasions and was very interested in going in. Came in to try the pupusas because our usual place was closed. We were hoping to find a gem in our city as we love to frequent small business. This place was disappointing. After receiving our bill that did not itemize the food, we noticed we were charged an extra 20% for being a party of 5. We wouldn't have minded had the service been nothing short of subpar. So very disappointed. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years and the service and the quality is not good or the same anymore. The servers are very rude and do not have good customer service, when trying to flag down a server it is impossible and when you do get a hold of them they give attitude. Definitely will not be coming back!! A venido a este restaurant por mas de 15 años y el servicio y la calidad ya no es igual. A bad server. I'm waiting for two hours to get my food, and I not received any. Excuses.

I only come here for the pupusas to be honest but man those pupusas are good. One of the best places to get em in my opinion.

Good food. Good portions. But check your receipt before you pay. My parents and I were given the handwritten receipt at $55.66. We asked for a breakdown as it seemed a little much. The breakdown showed $51.62 and when we were asking about the prices, the server walked away, we were given a 3rd receipt at $47.11 where we were told "oh sorry, the 3rd one is the right one". Pretty shady if you ask me. read more

I went to Luna Maya expecting soft and flavorful pupusas but the to order I received was very disappointing. I ordered chicharrón, loroco, and plain. All were very bland and the chicharrón pupusas were barely edible. The cheese had oozed out while cooking and had hardened to the point where it became bitter. I wonder what changed because some years ago they were very good. read more

I had been craving pupusas for a VERY LONG time. I had been eyeballing this place for a long time as well and since I was in the area, I decided to stop by and just get some since I saw this place had great reviews. I called head and placed an order for 6 pupusas mixtas. Got there in less than 20 minutes and my order was still being worked on. Waited a few more minutes and was told they'd be out soon. Got them after waiting only 5 minutes and still had to make a 25 min drive home. I surprised my husband with them and he was a bit surprised since we've never ate pupusas the years we have been together (11 plus). I was happy to see they were still REALLY hot and not all soggy being in the styrofoam tray. These pupusa were A M A Z I N G! They were much bigger than I anticipated and I was full with 2. I gave my third one to my 5 year old which to my surprise, he finished. I will definitely be making another trip for more before moving away. read more

Es un lugar muy aseado, amigables y de buen servicio. Su comida y meseras son formidables.

The food was good and fresh. The salsa for the pupusas however needs a little more flavor and a little bit more of a kick. It was too bland and my family complained about it. Pero todo lo demás, chef's kiss. read more

Came here a few years ago for El Salvadoran tamales and it was delicious. Came today and had to wait a while as there was only one waitress/hostess. I ordered two tamales to go via Yelp with grub hub and was picking up my food. The chicken tamale was way too soggy and moist (in a bad way) that it just fell apart. It looked like I was eating grits or mashed masa. The pork tamale was much better. Not worth the $4 each though. Won't be coming back. read more

Coming here reminds me of my trip to El Salvador. There's a word that I use all the time that's not a real word but you know what it means when I say it authenticgente ! I'm sure you can figure out it means really authentic. That's what I called Crystal language. You think in El Salvador they would have Pupusas on every corner. Turns out they only eat it for breakfast. Today in Downey California you can get it anytime of the day. Along the side with Casamento which means marriage of the Beans and rice , perfect right. There's plenty of delicious things but don't you dare leave this place without getting fried bananas you will definitely be missing out if you don't ! Authenticgente!!! It was a wonderful meal filled of TickTock's and YouTube videos of El Salvador president. They call him the best president in the world right now. He's really cleaning things up. read more

It's Friday, 4:40 pm and I just got back with my order only to find out they didn't give me what I ordered. When I called the restaurant , I spoke to a woman named "Linda". Linda acknowledged they made a mistake but said that I could drive back to pick up the right order. Even when I mentioned that I was working and I couldn't, her attitude was like "oh well, your loss". She said there were no managers there and didn't allow me to speak to anyone else. I even had to ask her to write a note for the manager but she didn't Linda, or whoever you are, you should not be trusted to manage customers. You offered no good solutions and your attitude was horrible. You expect the customer to eat whatever you give them, not what they paid for, and at your convenience. I've been loyal to this place for years, but thanks to you, we will spend our money elsewhere. read more
