I never wrote a review before, even though I've been buying their sweet bread for decades -- but this place truly deserves recognition! The sweet bread is second to none, and even though I haven't tried their Menudo yet, I can tell it's made with the same care and tradition as everything else they serve. I've tried bakeries in Los Nietos, Norwalk, and across Whittier -- but nothing compares to this one. If you're looking for delicious tamales for Christmas or New Year's, this is the place to go. I bought tamales this morning 4 pork and 2 cheese. They must be left over from the Christmas. They were horrifying dried and tasteless. The paper wrappers were burnt as if someone lid a torch at the corners. I can't imagine the quality this store is serving to the customers. I was not thinking clearly. I should have taken pictures and post them. I did bring them back within 15 minutes and they gave me a refund. The lady asked if I put them in the microwave.!!!!! read more

Hello to all. I have visited this bakery before when I'm craving a concha. I have tried there tamales and to be honest, I don't like them. I typically like red beef ones but this place doesn't make them. I tried the pork and it did not have any flavor. It tasted bland. I don't understand why they would make a tamale with no flavor and I don't like the cheese and chicken ones either. I have tasted better ones elsewhere. I drove 20 minutes at 12 PM and was told to call back at 3 PM because they were sold out. I called at 3, was told they had medium roscas and that one was reserved for me. I then drove another 20 minutes, waited in line, and suddenly they're out again--with no reserved rosca to be found. When I explained the situation, instead of fixing it, they told me I could wait another 40 minutes for a new batch. After two trips and zero accountability? Absolutely not. I will never order from this place again. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the level of service here. I placed an order for 2 dozen tamales on 11/30 and paid for them in full. When I get there to pick them up, the lady working tells me she has no order of mine. She informs me that they will take 45 mins to heat up. I come back 45 mins later and she was completely rude to me when I asked for her managers information and if I could be discounted for the price of my order ($65) I told her these were for a Christmas party in Pomona that I am now arriving 2 hours late for. This is my spot for pan dulce, their bakery goods are always fresh, so good, and baked daily. I try coming early where the bread is coming out of the ovens and warm. They offer other desserts options, cakes, tamales, and menudo on the weekends. Great spot that I frequent and enjoy pretty much everything they make plus that it's all very affordable. Came here to get the tres leches but ended up getting several other items here. We like the bakes here (8 out of 10) and will come back next time to try some other bakes and the tamales. I used to love coming here & but I wouldn't say I was a regular customer. But, the last time I went there it was late in the day for a bakery. It was around 2pm. I bought concha's my favorite. But one of the concha's was really hard, not soft. But it was the last one in the bag, so I bit into it. It tasted very weird. It was on the stale side but the flavor was definitely of perfume or maybe flowery cleaning solution. I spit it out and threw it away. Everyone has an off day, right? So I go the other day on my way home...and it has a grade of "B" on the window...I was seriously grossed out & drove home. They need to do better. My parents ordered a dozen tamales yesterday 4 cheese 4 chicken & 4 pork. I only really eat cheese tamales so when i went to take one out of the wrapper it had RAW MASA on the tamal. ALL of the cheese tamales were like this. I still tried to eat the tamale as if maybe half of it was cooked but nope i spit out just about every bite. We kept checking to see if they were all like that and sure enough all the cheese tamales were not fully cooked ! Gross ! This morning my dad tried the pumpkin empanadas and he said there was a very thin layer of pumpkin and it was made of mostly bread. Best Pan Dulce in Whittier! If you get it early enough when it's fresh out of the oven, it literally melts in your mouth; imagine their pan Dulce as the Mexican Krispy Kreme! I've bought fresh bread for family events and all have been left impressed by the softness and freshness of the pan dulce. My husband has now been designated the 'pan dulce guy' at work because they all loved it. They look forward to the monthly meetings just because of the goodies he brings. The only negative part is that if you come too late in the day, they're either out of certain items or it's not fresh. It's a small place so if you get here during peak hours, expect a line. I'm sorry to have to do this but I'm trying to save some of you from the worst tamales ever. I was here on Sunday hoping to try the tamales before a large purchase for our xmas celebration. I purchased a dozen half cheese and half chicken. They are absolutely horrible. I went by the reviews and decided to give them a try. The masa is dry and no good flavor. Yes they do have plenty of cheese but that masa on both the chicken and the cheese. They are sitting in my fridge. I hate to say this but tomorrow they will be tossed out. Finally found a bakery in Whittier who sells freshly baked goods. My go to are there pink and white conchas. I've tried some of there other bread such as the elotes and cuernitos and those are yummy and soft as well. I bake myself but it's good to take a break sometime. The best and freshest conchas in Whittier! I've tried a couple other local places and they can't compare to Los Compadres! And today I was able to get a couple of the small Pan de Muertos Their tamales are pretty darn delicious and they make carnitas tamales on the weekends! ( go early because they sell out).
