What an amazing find! This is a hidden gem in downtown Turlock. Tucked in between some stores, there is both inside seating and outside seating. Outside seating had colorful umbrellas, greenery, and gentle misters going to combat the heat, and plenty of shade. (I noticed that they had plenty of heaters off to the side for cool weather as well). They were quite busy - we were told the wait would be about 20 minutes, and it was that exactly. Everyone was very friendly. Our waitress had quite a few tables, but it looks like their practice is that everybody takes care of everybody's tables, which was cool. We were checked on an appropriate amount, even the owner (or who I'm assuming is the owner) coming over to check on us. We also saw her helping out - sweeping, moving the umbrella for us to make sure we were kept cool on this hot day. It's nice to see owners right in the trenches helping out staff when it's busy. The drinks were quite refreshing. We both got salads: I got the peach and Burrata salad with grilled chicken and my friend got the jicama salad with grilled salmon. It was so delicious. Portion size was great! We couldn't think of a single thing we would change about our experience , except maybe that we wish we had saved a room for some dessert. Ok coffee is good but come on $18 for eggs and beans plate. This place is overrated plain and simple. Had breakfast with a friend and total came out to around $60 that's for 2 egg plates and 2 coffees. Then they have the audacity to start the suggested tipping rate at 20%, wtf! Updating review after many years of dining at this establishment. La Mo has the following going for it: food offerings, ambiance, location, and pride of ownership. My issue with La Mo is the service and prices. Service is hit or miss and prices are well a tad pricey. With these prices I expect great service every time. The last time we went in person the server forgot about us after we were served. I like La Mo and I get why people love it. But I consistently choose other restaurants because of the lack of alignment with their service and their pricing. I think a 3 star review is fair given that La Mo is unique, you won't find the quality of offerings elsewhere, it has a beautiful environment and the proprietors are friendly, approachable and run a hell of a business but I cannot stand for inattentive selective service. read more

Service in our experience was poor. We had to ask the waitress lots of times where my daughters hot chocolate was. She kept saying it's coming from the cafe'. By the way they can take your order from the array of treats they have there, but she chose not too. My daughter got up and went to see what they had and came back with what she saw looked good. She seemed upset she was waiting on us and it was just a table of three that included a very kind older woman (my mom). The restaurant has a really cute coffee shop before you head down to the actual establishment. The place is super cute and it's both outdoor and indoor dining. The wait time for outdoor dining is a much shorter wait, but if your cold they have those standup gas warmer's that can help. The food I ordered was delicious it was the wedding chicken. Nice ambiance, but rude service. Not worth coming out here to Turlock to ever dine back and give them a second chance. The ambiance and service was great in this establishment. I ordered the chilaquiles with salsa verde and potatoes. And I also ordered a drink from the coffee shop. I can't say this food was as amazing as I thought it would be. The dish I ordered was missing a few things. With the acidity of the salsa I could have used some beans to balance out instead of the greens. The eggs I ordered came as an omelet on top that I had to break up. They should have scrambled the tortilla and beans together to create a more cohesive experience. The dish also needed significantly more cheese. The potatoes were okay if you like a softer salsa cooked potato you may like them. The drink was good and pretty. It had a slightly sweet and cinnamon flavor. There are typically long wait times on the weekends but they are able to send you a text when your table is ready, giving you the ability to do other things while waiting. We originally wanted to order the pozole verde and potato fingerling hash but they were all out, so keep in mind they might be out of things if you're seated around 1pm. Latin Benedict - The potatoes were well seasoned and the wedding sauce had a really nice spice to it. I do wish that they didn't put that much sauce because it completely soaked the torta and I couldn't taste any other part of the eggs benedict; when breaking open the egg yolk it was completely lost in the sauce. There was also barely any bacon or greens under the egg so I was pretty much only eating sauce. The vegetables on the side were also completely burnt so it was inedible. Chilaquiles - Added chorizo and nopales for an extra cost which made the pricey fried tortillas and sauce even pricier. The flavors were well done but again drowned in a lot of sauce. Overall the food wasn't bad; kind of plated messily and pricey. The service was great and I loved the outdoor ambience! Given the price point on the dishes I wish they would give complimentary chips, especially to eat with all the extra sauce! I am curious how their other dishes are but likely wouldn't go back unless with more friends for brunch. read more

This review is strictly based of interaction I had with a staff member their drinks and food are always great and typically their staff is very friendly and pleasant to do business with.... I walked in from my table outside to grab my drink off the bar and forgot to put my mask on. Got shouted at by an employee from across the cafe about wearing my mask when walking in. This was the same employee who sat in the corner chair of the cafe without a mask drinking his coffee on his break. First off it's inappropriate to shout across any especially a staff member needing to inform or confront a customer and secondly I don't mind being reminded about my mask needing to be on but where is the logic?? You just sat inside without your mask on for at least 10 min and my 10 sec of walking in without a mask to grab my coffee is an issue? read more

I stopped in here with friends for a margarita and appetizer. I haven't been to La Mo in Turlock for years. What a beautiful surprise this was. It's absolutely beautiful and delicious. Lively place tucked back behind other businesses...you'd likely not know it was there if you weren't looking for it. The atmosphere is very pleasant with music playing throughout the area and strings of lights above. We had some flies that irritated us, but we had asked to have the overhead fans turned off because it was a touch chilly, so we realized the fans were the defense against this little rascals. They have a great team concept in service, with anyone and everyone willing to step in and help if you need anything. Each person was friendly and welcoming. I had a breakfast burrito with roasted vegetables instead of meat, and chose fresh fruit as my side. I'm not saying I'm all that, but I can really pick 'em! The fruit was as beautiful as it was perfectly ripe and delectable. The burrito had a green chili sauce on it that contained just a slight heat, but more than that, it delivered an indescribably pleasant flavor throughout the burrito. They have a great variety of coffees and teas. Their regular coffee - my choice - was bold and flavorful. If in Turlock, this is a must stop! read more

Once again, this place always overbooks and doesn't have tables for those who make reservations ahead of time. I book a reservation a week out and was told they didn't have my table. They offered an outside table but it's 45 degrees. No apologies at all which sucks because I really love their food but I'm not driving 30 minutes to eat outside in the cold. What made this experience one to remember? The customer service! I went to the coffee shop then the restaurant. When arriving to the coffee shop I was greeted with an amazing aroma of coffee beans and pastries that were placed out front. the place was filled with people yet not too crowded, they got everyones orders out quite fast. The coffee shop and restaurant both seem to have some hispanic influence which is amazing! I love to see businesses take influence from other places and bringing them here. I got a hot latte, macarons, and a beautifully presented personal banana bread! All were good. It took me about 4 minutes to realize that the restaurant was just further down past the cafe. I believe I ran into the owner herself and she was very welcoming as it was our first time! She made sure we were seated within 15 minutes as the restaurant tends to get pretty busy for lunch time. One thing I noticed is that all the employees seemed very happy to be there and everyone was very kind and welcoming. I would definitely be a regular if I wasn't so far away! Decided to stop by for some breakfast! They have a cute cafe and the restaurant. Took about 5 min for seating since we wanted an indoor table since it was cold outside. Drinks came out within 4 min of ordering (coffee was amazing). It's a cute modern cafe, lots of seating. Our server was amazing! I forgot her name! But she was super attentive and quick! So nice job to our server!! The food: I got the Chilaquiles with red sauce, roasted potatoes, eggs with chorizo and nopales, and black beans. The presentation was great! The flavors were intense! It's a creamy red sauce the chilaquiles we're still crunchy too!!! Yay! The beans were amazing, but those potatoes just hit the spot! My friend got the Latin Benedict! She was also impressed she said she would like was for lighter seasoning next time. The pancakes were like no other. They were thick, but fluffy! My friend said she will drive 30 min just for these pancakes. Overall, I was impressed by the cleanliness, quick service, friendly service, and good food! Amazing! Delicious! We love their coffee and chai tea! We also love their breakfasts! We had the French toast with orange liqueur drizzle or something and it was bomb! Had to update my review. The coffee side staff are just...I don't even understand how they were hired. They get our orders wrong often. My boyfriend pointed out they gave him a small instead of a large and she just stared at him like he was irritating her for several long, awkward seconds. Then sighed and said, "kay", and walked back and just filled his drink with milk and syrup to the top of a new cup. No extra coffee. ok.... Then the next time he ordered a bagel, they got it wrong, started to remake it, then the girl stopped halfway through, helped a customer, lounged around, drank some coffee, then left for lunch.
