Food was tasty but the ambiance and customer service was just terrible. With no one paying attention to us as we entered the small establishment we were about to seat ourselves when some guy yelled over his shoulder to "go ahead and find a seat". Me and my bestie took a spot her in a chair and me along the wall. Tiny, tiny area nearly touching elbows with the dudes next to me or the other guy at a reserved table next to us. We had to ask for attention. ..we finally got menus. When our waitress finally returned to take our drink orders she asked or should I say accused us of just taking a table. Well HELLO we stood in the doorway for awhile...oh and that guy screamed at us to find a table...drink order arrived we gave our lunch order...not checked on by the chick....every other table seemed to get attention but we continued the entire time forgotten. I guess you must be a regular to count. Don't go. It was my first time there and my last. How do you build clientele acting that way? I've been to La Mo various times , but it seems they keep hiking their prices . I ordered ONE small tamale just to try before my main meal - they charged me $9 dollars that's outrageous .. Also the waitress do not seem to ask many questions I once ordered the special which was a mole or green tamale.. When I ordered I specifically told her I said I want the mole tamales she said ok ... Once she brought the food and I cut in to it .. It was a green tamale I asked what happen with my mole tamale and they said they had ran out ...ok how bout you tell me !!! That's happen two more times !! I order something and not what I wanted!! And another issue is Waitresses are very hurried and lack communication skills ! OUTSTANDING!!! I stumbled into this place by finding it on Yelp. At first glimpse, I thought it looks clean and they have good reviews so lets go for it. We went there for breakfast and I tried the chilaquiles. A little light on the tortilla chips and I am not a big fan of cilantro in the salad portion. But overall they were good. A couple of days later we returned for breakfast to give a final thumb voting. This time we had the breakfast burrito and the cornmeal pancakes which solidified the THUMBS UP voting. Unbelievable how good both were. Service was exceptional, "Everyone" was friendly and made you feel welcomed. They even found a place for our dog near the patio where we had our meal. Service was great and food was tasty, slightly different from what most would expect though. It's a little on the pricey side but I think with the quality of product they use and the dishes they put out that it's warranted. Definitely better than most in the area. I had a burrito with the wedding sauce that everyone raves about and it was good and spicy and unique. My iced tea was cloudy...having been a server earlier in life I know what old tea tastes and looks like. I mentioned to the waiter and got a soda instead...My friend and I watched in amazement as they kept serving it to other tables and it kept getting returned! Just make some new tea people! Best chilaquiles I've ever had! This place is a little gem hidden in old downtown Turlock. I discovered it through yelp (Thanks people!), and while it's not immediately visible from the main street, the effort to find it is well worth the hunt! I hail from the SF Bay Area where I was spoiled by a variety of good cuisine, but this is my favorite Mexican (fusion) place EVER. The food is Mexican cuisine with a refreshing twist. Try the chilaquiles with red sauce for breakfast, then come back for lunch and have the carnitas with pineapple! The ambiance is great, too. The outdoor seating is spacious with a cozy feel (and dog friendly!) -- it's a casual swanky place with reasonable prices. This is my favorite place to eat, from here to San Francisco. read more

Went to the cafe for 2 simple things- a London fog hot tea drink and a hot herbal tea. Well, as others came in after us, when we ( just us 2) were the only ones in there for over 5 minutes, everyone else got served , except us. My daughter, who is a barista,( twice) went to the two girls laughing and giggling behind the counter and the girl said" we don"t have "London Fog"-which is odd since it was on the counters blackboard specials..so, my daughter replied" So you don't have black tea and steamed milk?! And she replied..oh, did not know what a London Fog was. Really???? Are they not to be trained to make drinks and be professional? So, it gets worse, as my daughter explained to them how to make it, they ignored our drinks again, and continued to make others, making us wait for 2 paid teas over 15 minutes. Did not apologize, did not smile, rude and unfit to work a barista, Especially if one is not trained on how to work a machine or KNOW the menu. Good luck. read more

Oh my word. I could go on and on about La Mo. It is a diamond in the ruff of Modesto area. My husband and I love to come here for breakfast. Their chilaquiles and huevos rancheros are delicious and unique. Their homemade tomatillo sauce is to die for. And their variety of lattes is my favorite.
