Don't come in on Sunday Morning around 10:30 ready to eat breakfast because due to the wait time, you won't be seated until after 11:00am which is when they STOP serving breakfast. I brought in a party of 9 and since we waited for about 45 minutes, we just went ahead and ordered from the lunch menu. I would describe their food as Latin fusion with the Caucasian palate in mind. Their rice is plain white rice and the beans they serve are black beans. A highlight of this cafe are definitely the Chips/Salsa (Very fresh and the perfect crunch) and the Tres Leches Cake (Sweet moist cake topped with homemade whipped cream which had the perfect amount of sugar). I won't go into detail about the food but from what I tasted, it wasn't an explosion of flavor but it was delicately seasoned food that was slightly sub par. We were traveling up the 99 and needing dinner. Thanks, yelpers, for this recommendation! Located in the cute downtown area of Turlock (who knew this town even existed?!), and tucked away in a quiet corner, this place has some seriously hip charm to it. Our server was very friendly, and our orders came quickly. Prices were very reasonable. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla and could choose rice and beans, fruit, or sweet potato fries. My son chose the tortilla soup and enjoyed it. I couldn't get past how good the mahi mahi tacos sounded (a starter), so they made it into an entree, bringing me two of the most delicious fish tacos I have ever had (lots of lime and seasoning, super fresh guac, mango salsa, cotija, house made corn tortillas...yum) and the jicama salad. The salad was very simliar to a slaw, again tons of flavor...exotic and yet familiar too. I loved the crunch of the toasted pepitas (pumpkin seeds). My husband had a mah mahi taco too and loved it. He didn't think his beef picadillo tacos were anything special, but said they were good just the same. My dinner was outstanding. Dessert was...ok. Great presentation, homemade. Flan was dense and traditional, but missing something. Maybe steeping a vanilla bean in the custard could bring it over the top. The chocolate caramel flan concoction was a hit with my kids (I'm not a chocolate fan, so won't weigh in on that one!). Our server did not come to check on us. It took a while for our check to come, and our server never did come back to run my card or even say thanksor good bye. A bus boy finally came over and took our check, and not one person said anythng when we left...and I passed by three servers, smiled, made eye contact.... I love this place. You can never go wrong with any items in the menu. They use local items only. Servers are very friendly and it's a lovely location. The owner is often around serving and she is also very friendly. My only comment is that they always say "homemade tortillas" but the tortillas are not homemade. I've been here twice for weekday lunch - both times I ordered the wedding chicken and both times I had a completely different experience. The first time I went here, service was relatively quick, we were given a carafe of water, and our orders were correct. Second time, we had made reservations, waited longer, it took 20 minutes to get our drinks and chips, even though we were watching other tables who were seated after us get their beverages and food first. We had to wait to get our water cups filled, and it took 50 MINUTES to get our food (and there wasn't anyone waiting for tables)! If you came here on an hour lunch you would be late back to work. My husband ordered a sandwich, I ordered the wedding chicken and fruit - but I got beans and rice instead. The wedding chicken was also a smaller serving than the first time I had it. The fruit bowl consisted of maybe a 1/3 of an apple, 1/4 of an orange, 6 blueberries, and 2 strawberries. While I enjoy the wedding chicken, the service was SOOOO incredibly slow. Our waitress didn't even look in our direction 90% of the time to see if we needed refills, or even silverware. read more

Even when I was looking for it purposely, it was still a difficult task to seek this terrific brunch place. Well hidden, La Mo Cafe! It is tucked in into the Shopper's Eden, the shopping center next the Dean Floral. The atmosphere in the cafe is a plus, very quite and peaceful. The interior of the cafe is nicely decorated. There is also a courtyard for dogs. Very pet friendly. Service: Excellent! Very friendly staff. Food: Came here on a weekday morning with my family. We had the Huevos Rancheros, Steak and Eggs, Breakfast Burrito, Breakfast Combo. The steak was just so-so but everything else was A-M-A-Zing! I was most impressed by the fresh fruits on the side. They serve real organic berries, not half rotten melons. The strawberry jam for the toasts was also astounding! The breakfast combo was a steal deal! Prices: Very reasonable. I'm sorry but I have to be honest, I wasn't impressed. Went there for breakfast with my daughter. Lots of what appeared to be college kids working there, had to almost tackle them to get their attention. I love coffee but this was horrible!! Didn't matter how much cream and sugar I put in it. Once again I was disappointed. I really want to LOVE this great lil coffee place but it's not likely. Just bought sandwich that was suppose to be warmed, panini style but was super cold. Good thing I have microwave at work to nuke it. Not the same. Then to top it off they charged me $6 for 2 shots over ice. Ridiculous considering what it is. I like coming here but it's a hit and miss with the food. Sometimes the food and specials is very tasty and some other times I feel I should've been to the taco truck. I can't begin to recommend this place enough! Walking in makes you feel at home and the patio this time of year is BEAUTIFUL...it's like you walked into a magazine setting. First time here, had brunch today with a friend who had been there before and highly recommended it. Whoa. Enjoyed every second of our time there. It's tucked away from the street, and has an open air mall type of feel. There is inside and outside seating, we opted to wait a bit longer to eat outside. Friendly staff, excellent food and drink. Their food is so fresh and delicious. I had the Daisy Chain drink - it's amazing. We treated ourselves to the Chocoflan for dessert - that too was incredible. The management was absolutely rude to me. I arrived by myself and asked if there was room for a party of seven. I even told the host that I was willing to wait until there was something available inside because it was raining. The host told me that it was not an issue and she went ahead and sat me at a table without the rest of my party. As I waited for my friends to arrive, the manager or owner approached me. She told me that the staff does not normally sit someone until the whole party is here, but they did with me anyways. She went ahead and asked when my party would arrive and I told her they were on the way. She then stated, "they always say that". I did not choose to sit without my party that was your staff's mistake, so she should have reprimanded them and not me. She could have handled that differently. I will not return to this place due to the service and the food was mediocre. read more

This place is my FAVORITE. And it's in Turlock! Almost feels like you step out of Turlock and into the Bay when you go in here. Must try: 1. My personal favorite.. the Mahi Mahi tacos! They are amazing. Mahi Mahi wrapped in handmade corn tortillas, topped with mango pico de gallo, cabbage, cotija, and guacamole. Soooo good! I had the huevos rancheros with black beans. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about ordering black beans but they were seriously good. I also had their gluten free seasonal pancake- highly recommend. The atmosphere is relaxing and low key. Great spot to catch up with a friend, go on a date or simply enjoy great good. Oh my goodness!!!!! What a cute place this is in Turlock and the area to shop at little local boutique stores. I went here on Friday morning at the actual cafe but the back area is where the actual restaurant is located. Both places are operated separately. The cafe had so many drink choices to tea and coffee. Every drink is handcrafted. Turlock is stepping up with their game with their food and drink venues. Not that hard to give a great service for a cup Of cappuccino or their special take on a cup Of coffee. Such a creative barsita at La MO. The service was prompt and the staff was so polite. I think everyone would agree in the Central Valley that we need a place like La Mo. I loved everything about the spot and I haven't tried the restaurant yet but I have that one star left to conclude my review so there should be an update soon. But by the pictures taken by other Yelpers... I don't think La Mo would disappoint. I strongly would recommend everyone to support local shops! read more

While this is categorized as Mexican, it is not the usual stuff you find at most Mexican places. Everything was very fresh. The menu was creative and everything we tried (Angus burger, "The Regular" chilies dish, tamales, jicima salad, sweet potato fries) was super tasty. They didn't want us to miss the Tres Leches cake for dessert so they gave us one to go--mmm!!! Owner family member Rob waited on us and made us feel truly at home. I visited La Mo cafe with my husband last week and we had the best cold brew ever. My husband is extremely picky with cold brew but he said this location is his new favorite. I had a matcha tea latte and was pretty good. They didn't have soy but they were able to make it with almond milk. I definitely recommend this location! read more

There aren't many places in Turlock you can find good quality food with ingredients that aren't horrible for you, but La Mo is like all my favorite places in LA or San Francisco or any more hip, developed areas.
