Usually love La Mo but this time my food was soggy and cold :( disappointing, after almost a 2 hour wait it was not worth it

I loved this place! The atmosphere is so cute, and the employees are really accommodating and friendly. I got the fingerling potato scramble but with quite a few alterations and they didn't make it seem like it was a bother at all which really goes a long way. The scramble was so delicious I was pleasantly surprised! The iced coffees took a while to reach our table after we ordered but no biggie, and they were yummy! The venue is ideal because you can eat al fresco. Other than that it's nothing special. The food was way to salty and the service is sub par. Once we were seated, I asked for a glass of water and the person said "that's not my job." Everyone who was eating there acted like they were dining on Melrose. However, I could tell by the looks of them that they probably hadn't ever done that. My tacos were so soggy and salty that I didn't even want to finish them. I just spent $95 at La Mo for 2 adults and 3 kids. That is pretty steep for Turlock, but I'm willing to pay for good food (ah, but the pain in my wallet when it's not good). The menu was intriguing and exciting, lovely dining area, dish presentation was nice. The wait staff seemed like they weren't very familiar with the menu, and we were neglected most of the time. The short rib was tender but the mole was bitter and flavorless (the menu boasts a berry sauce). The sopes shell was crunchy but the meat was dry as jerky and used throughout every other dish. The tamale ($5 ea) promised homemade Masa but it was drowned in green sauce and the fillings were bland (tried a shrimp and a jalapeño/cheese). The wedding Seafood entree was the only good thing we got, and halfway through we realized the salmon still had skin on it, even though it was swimming in sauce. I have been hearing good reviews since it opened. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I don't mind paying the price for great food, but this was a complete let down. read more

Small portions and food is just average. Too pricey for what they serve. I prefer going to El Charo a couple of miles away.

Their coffee tastes so much better than the popular drive through. Their pastries are authentic and delicious

I used to frequent this place all the time between 2012 and 2014 when I was a lowly undergraduate student at CSU stan. It had great grub that actually digested well and didn't leave you needing water the rest of the day. Nice environment as well. Peaceful and quiet. Visited today for the first time since 2014 and it was like a turlock hipster convention. Much different vibe. Felt like a place to be seen rather than enjoy some good chow. They told my pal and I it would be a hour wait and they would send me a text when something opened. 6 hours later and no text. Followed up after 1.5 hours and they said 20 more minutes. So much for that... This place has some special memories for me however it has definitely changed. If one is looking for food and isn't worried about being perceived as cool and hip as well as getting a solid Instagram picture I would go to somewhere on west main. read more

I love coming here after yoga--Warrior Yoga, which is an excellent studio by the way! Anyways, the staff is always pleasant and friendly and the drinks are delicious just a little overpriced in my opinion sometimes. But, they have seasonal drinks that are always tasty--I loved the pumpkin spice latte in the fall and the London Fog made me a believer of tea. Although I love the variety of pastry options, the ones I had were tasty but not amazing. I had a scone that was kinda dry, a muffin that was good and a few other things that were just fine. If you are looking for a local place with some vegan and gluten-free options, then here is a good place. Overall, I would (and do) return for the atmosphere mostly, but the coffee is pretty good too. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on the way to Yosemite and even though it made the drive longer I have NO REGRETS. The food was amazing and the espresso drinks were delicious as well. We ordered the huevos rancheros and sourdough french toast plus a side of toast which came with house made strawberry jam. For drinks we got the spicy mexican chocolate drink which had espresso as well as the dulce de leche latte (sorry can't remember the names!), both were so cute with their latte art and tasted amazing. Definitely worth the stop even though it's a little bit off of the highway. read more

I'm sorry but I have to be honest, I wasn't impressed. Went there for breakfast with my daughter. Lots of what appeared to be college kids working there, had to almost tackle them to get their attention. I love coffee but this was horrible!! Didn't matter how much cream and sugar I put in it. Food was ok but not special, ordinary. Like I said, this was breakfast, if it is anyway connected to La Morenita, the lunch and dinner are much better. read more

Once again I was disappointed. I really want to LOVE this great lil coffee place but it's not likely. Just bought sandwich that was suppose to be warmed, panini style but was super cold. Good thing I have microwave at work to nuke it. Not the same. Then to top it off they charged me $6 for 2 shots over ice. Ridiculous considering what it is. Not even other competitors charge more than $3. Hoping for better than mediocre but this is my 2nd time to be disappointed. There are just too many choices to get it wrong. read more

I like coming here but it's a hit and miss with the food. Sometimes the food and specials is very tasty and some other times I feel I should've been to the taco truck. First time here, had brunch today with a friend who had been there before and highly recommended it. Whoa. Enjoyed every second of our time there. It's tucked away from the street, and has an open air mall type of feel. There is inside and outside seating, we opted to wait a bit longer to eat outside. Friendly staff, excellent food and drink. Their food is so fresh and delicious. I had the Daisy Chain drink - it's amazing. We treated ourselves to the Chocoflan for dessert - that too was incredible. The management was absolutely rude to me. I arrived by myself and asked if there was room for a party of seven. I even told the host that I was willing to wait until there was something available inside because it was raining. The host told me that it was not an issue and she went ahead and sat me at a table without the rest of my party. As I waited for my friends to arrive, the manager or owner approached me. She told me that the staff does not normally sit someone until the whole party is here, but they did with me anyways. She went ahead and asked when my party would arrive and I told her they were on the way. She then stated, "they always say that". I did not choose to sit without my party that was your staff's mistake, so she should have reprimanded them and not me. She could have handled that differently. I will not return to this place due to the service and the food was mediocre. read more

We wanted to have breakfast in Merced but our favorite place was closed, so we headed up to Turlock to check out La Mo for the first time. A hidden gem (literally) tucked inside a corridor off of Main Street, it was beautiful outside with all the plants and shade, and we both loved what we had. My friend had the breakfast burrito and said it was the perfect size (plus it looked delicious with the avocado), while I gave in and ordered the sourdough-orange french toast. It's dipped in an orange liquor and topped with creme fraiche and fresh fruit, and it was AMAZING. Also, this place knows how to perfectly cook bacon-- just well done enough. I was so impressed that they use organic local eggs and locally roasted coffee. Service was friendly and prompt, and we will definitely return to check out their dinner menu! read more

I took my Mom here for brunch Mother's Day, we didn't have a reservation and it took a while to be seated, which I expected. Breakfast burrito - had nice bright flavors but the citrus in the guacamole was overwhelming after a while. My flank steak w/chimchurri (or some type of red sauce on the side) - Meh, I wasn't impressed. The meat was cold and the sauce was rather bitter. The french toast was AMAZING - but I was searching for the orange flavor in it - still very good! The atmosphere was inviting, homey & beachy. For whatever reason it reminded me of being in a beach town. I spent about $60'ish, maybe more??? Update: 10/6 - I was later sent a "compliment" from one of the co-owners basically saying I posted a fake review. Errr... nice PR lady?!!! I stand by my original 3-star rating because of the service I received when I took my parents out. I'm glad I didn't take my daughter there for french toast last weekend. That being said, there isn't anything on the menu that I tried that can't be recreated in my own kitchen. I'm not really happy with my first visit here. The jicama salad was dry. Hardly any dressing. The chicken enchilada had more veggies than chicken. I had to look for it. The chicken tortilla soup was loaded with dry canned chicken. I have to say the food looks better than it tastes. No refills on drinks. So ecstatic to find this place. My wife and I recently moved to Los Banos from the bay area, and this week was our 13th wedding anniversary. We were on a budget, so couldn't do much more than dine to celebrate, but I wanted to make sure that we could at least have a really nice place to dine. I went with this place, a bit out of the way from Los Banos, but the mass of five-star reviews won me over. To say I was not disappointed, would be a shameful understatement. We were absolutely blown away by how awesome this place was. Every bite was fantastic, and the service was excellent. Even more, the wait staff actively cooperated. If a waiter, not ours, noticed we had a dessert menu sitting out, she'd ask if our waiter had taken our dessert order yet, and pass it along. We shared a bowl of the tortilla soup (which comes as a brothy chicken soup, to which you add the tortilla strips and everything else, choosing what you want to go in - but even just the broth was amazingly good, I don't know what they put in it), and I got the enchiladas with wedding sauce (which is as good as everyone says it is), while my wife got a classic taco, and a shrimp taco, both of which were excellent. When dessert time came, we decided to get the tres leches cake and the caramel flan, both of which were exquisite (I think what really makes it for both of them, is the thick, almost frosting-thick whipped cream topping). We left very, very happy, and will definitely look for another excuse to come again. Please note that they only serve dinner two nights out of the week (as of this writing). Also, I was unable to make a reservation over the phone, as no one would pick up (I tried at different times on different days), but I was able to make a reservation over email (and they said they'd check their phones). read more
