This place was recommended by our hotel since it was close to our final destination which was the Moulin rouge. We had reservations once we arrived we were seated right away. They start u off with some bread & butter not bad. Food well u really must be into seafood if u come here & since we picked it more as a matter of convenience don't think we really knew what we were getting ourselves into. I had the Small shrimp & Mixed salad for my meal, salad was very good, shrimp for me was a miss didn't expect them to be so small? Tiny shrimp & on top of that they r whole, legs, head, eyes & all ughhh this is such a pain really would be nice if they pealed the shrimp I didn't really like it they were salty & smelled fishy. My friends on the other hand did like it so to each it's own on this dish. Also tried the Fish & chips, this was pretty good nice fried fish good fries. The Steak was ok better at first bite then it lost some of its taste, The next dish was the Lamb this good, nothing too crazy. Since we were on a time crunch to catch the show we ate relatively quick & were out running. Service was good & prices were ok can be pricey. read more

This place is amazing real authentic French food. We had the escargot which were amazing they were buttery and garlic just perfect. They do look intimidating it def worth a try. I also got a Caesar salad in which they prepared from scratch in front of our table.My husband got lamb and it was cooked to perfection. This place also has oysters and shrimp to die for. We went there for a late lunch and was quickly seated inside as the outside terrace seating was too crowded for us. We were quickly attended by our waitress. We asked for wine recommendations and she recommended two dry white wines that we enjoyed. I ordered oysters, extra large, and cockles and periwinkles that were fantastically fresh and tasty. Carol order muscles and a full bucket came out and were wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant and would go again many times. It's a well known place in Montmartre, so we decided to try it. The food was really good but very pricey (we got oysters). The only reason I give 4 stars is because the tables are very close to each other and there is no privacy at all. People are literally sitting on top of each other. The waiter had to move our table out to let me take my seat on the couch. And then we had to move it again to go to the restroom. I don't think it's very appropriate for a fancy place like that. read more

Stumbled upon this place while walking through the neighborhood. Wanted to try some oysters and every outside table had an order of oysters. The first waiter we had was attentive, gave great suggestions, but the second waiter was not as much. We got an assortment of oysters to try from this side of the Atlantic. We also had an order of mussels which they split into two separate pots so that it was as if we had our own portion. But this order was a portion that was more than enough for two people, and came with frites. All very tasty! read more

I love this place! It was my favorite meal in Paris. It came recommended and I'm not surprised. Fortunately, we were staying a block away (I'm surprised I only went once) and the owner of the flat we were renting said he loves to go there for lunch so upon arrival in Paris, this is what we did. We sat outside, which is what I wanted. The ambiance around the area is quintessential Paris and it is a truly wonderful ambiance. They have great wines and are known for their seafood. We got the beef tartare, which was great. It was a huge portion and the bread they have is of course amazing. We got the pork sausage, which was outstanding and then also the snails. These were hands down the best snails I've ever had and the entire trip I kept thinking about them. I got escargot somewhere else and it was just meh after this place. I definitely will be going back next time I am in Paris. read more

At first, I hesitated: whether I should eat here or not since it didn't look like a good place to get food... maybe a drink but not a place where you can get an awesome food. Turned out to be a great experience. I ordered a bucket of mussels in white wine... yum... it came with fries too. The mussels were good but what wow-ed me was the wine.... so good.... What a great restaurant! Greatest service with English-speaking waiters, food is just amazing with typical french presentation, so if you want real authentic french food- this is the place. We enjoyed it very much. Not cheap, don't expect to pay less than 100 euros for dinner for two but it worth it. This is an excellent seafood and general restaurant - I had the best meal of my Paris visit here today. As another reviewer said, La Mascotte takes its food seriously. Ambiance and service are excellent, too. The mixed seafood appetizer (assiette de fruits de mer) was delicious and beautifully arranged. Langoustines were perfectly fresh, lightly steamed and moist, as well as posed in a way that suggested Japanese influence. Fish aioli was also perfect - moist and full flavored. The aioli was light but had just enough garlic. White Cotes de Province wine was reasonably priced and perfect for a Summer seafood lunch. Finally the espresso was rich but not bitter and came with a small piece of nougat. Around us I noticed the most beautiful fish and chips I've ever seen, as well as mouth-watering steak tartare being prepared mid-restaurant. The neighbors' moules looked wonderful, too. Happily the place was quiet on a mid-Summer weekday afternoon. I would return happily! read more

This was one of my favorite places we ate during our week in Paris! We stayed in a boutique hotel in the Montmarte area and this place was up the hill within walking distance. The husband and I had been craving seafood (specifically oysters) all week and I was determined to find them on our last night! I read the great reviews and decided to give La Mascotte a try. We are so glad we did! Cute, Parisian atmosphere - a mix of tourists and people who seem like locals/regulars. The service was great! We had a bottle of wine - but I saw many people with the daily champagne special and they all seemed pleased with their selection. We started with oysters (SO fresh - there was actually ice on the curb when we walked in from their daily shipments), soup, and then each got the mussels and fries meal. I am normally a bottomless pit when it comes to mussels and I couldn't even finish - that's how large the portion was! They were delicious. Had dinner with a date on (without realizing it) St. Patrick's Day. This, coupled with the recent results of a rugby game, caused there to be unrequited chanting and shouting for the entire two hours of our dinner, making it very hard to hear each other. Most of the shellfish we had come there for was sold out already; the oysters they still had were excellent. The bigorneaux seemed to be 20% just shells from the last guest. I ordered to sole for my date, and it was served in a pool of butter, such that she didn't eat all of it. Being on Montmartre, there is the expected touristy dimension, but all in all, it is an ok brasserie with descent seafood. I've had much better, though, in Paris, such as at Le Dome. read more
