What a wonderful experience we had last night! Our server, Jose, was absolutely terrific -- charming, gracious, attentive, and such a pleasure to talk with. We were especially impressed to learn that he speaks five languages, including English! He made us feel completely welcome and added so much to our evening. Went here in a recommendation and thought it lived up to it. My waiter, Franck, definitely made the experience much better and I can attest other patrons felt the same way. The French Onion Soup was good. Lots of texture and had an elevated taste with the Foie Gras. I didn't have as much onion in mine but not sure if that's normal traditionally in France/Paris. The Duck Confit was great. Flavorful with some slices of seared potatoes. Other than that, not a whole lot of food for those that come in hungry. Suggest an appetizer or a couple glasses of your favorite drink. I would get the Duck Confit again FWIW, but if I came back next time I'm in Paris, I'd like to try another dish. read more

Saying this place is a tourist trap would be too harsh but it definitely has this feel. Maybe the locals dinning here receive different treatments? Our server was great and knows exactly what he is doing. Very well presented the menu and daily special. Provided attentive service for the table. The 1 star off is for the 2 orders of garlic bread he sold us after we ordered without telling us it cost 12 Euro. I guess it's my fault for thinking it was complimentary bread for the table. I would be less focused on the cost if the cost was presented to us and if the bread wasn't overcooked (also came after all our other dishes). The food was average for what I've envisioned French culinary arts to be. First, the quality of the foie gras here is on point in both flavor and texture. At least for our table. The drinks were good, nothing to complain about. The beef bourguignon was a bit sour and watery....From personal cooking experience, likely because the wine needed to boiled down a bit more before putting all the ingredients. The daily special - steak with foie gras for two had a strong alcohol taste as a result of the visually appealing flambé of the foie gras. As a result the best part of this dish was the hash brown. The eggplant dish was slightly undercooked as part of the eggplant was still crunchy. The French onion soup was good but I felt it could pack a slightly strong onion flavor if the onions were caramelized slightly longer. read more

Such a cute restaurant but located on an extremely busy street. The server was discreetly pushy and probably the most of our entire trip. Wasn't able to make recommendations just that "everything is good." The men were not impressed with their steaks. The duck was tender and good. This spot appears to be popular with both tourists and locals alike. The hubs really loved the authentic beef bourguignon. He deemed it to be the most delectable Parisian dish. It was really tasty and full of deep flavors, but my palate isn't accustomed to meat so I didn't have those wowing moments. Even though the other ingredients were simple like potatoes and bacon bits, it all came together to add to the richness of the dish. And the bread to soak up the juices were divine. The homemade beef lasagna was so so. It was good so don't get me wrong, but it wasn't something wowing for me. The pasta itself was the perfect texture. It was a thick cut with a good ratio of beef and cheese. And it was covered to the brim with tomato sauce. Overall a very pleasant pick, but I guess I wasn't in the mood for lasagna and all its tomato sauce. Service was attentive. They seemed particularly busy whirling around as dinner time rolled in. After being seated and ordering drinks (including alcohol), we were told that we could not share food with our 7-year-old son and he had to order and adult meal, because "this is a restaurant." There were no children's options on the menu, and absolutely no flexibility or hospitality offered. We ended up paying €110 for a meal that was neither generous nor particularly enjoyable. It felt like they were simply trying to maximize the bill without regard for the experience. As an Irish descendant, I mean I've had "Irish" in my email address since, well since there has been email. I felt bad not getting some corned beef and a Guinness on St Patrick's Day, but it's slim pickings in Paris, and the couple bars/ pubs were packed with expats. So, I opted for French, when in Paris..... Le Carrie Elysees is a cute, classy, but unpretentious place. The waitstaff was so nice and friendly. Really, not just "Paris nice", really actually nice. And the waiter was (at least) tri-lingual. Made everyone feel at home. The first bit of the escargot made me feel far less guilty for passing the traditional fare. The wine was so good, and you know I'm a Guinness guy, but the duck, oh the duck, so amazing. Just delicious, just melt in your mouth. It came out flaming! "Why would I ever eat anywhere else in Paris" good! I'll get the corned beef and Guinness when I get back home. Oh, and the crème brûlée to top it off was just sinful. This restaurant is AMAZING! Traveling with a group of 12 teenagers is never easy especially when looking for good food. Our hotel Colisee recommended and booked us at this great little cafe. Not only were we greeted with a smile and great hospitality, we were also treated like such through our entire stay. All of the food was fantastic and 95% of party went with the staff recommendations. Many American kids struggle with French foods but all of the lates were clean. I myself tried escargot, faux grau, and duck all for the first time and they couldn't have been better. The desserts we tried did not disappoint either. I highly recommend this place whether a large group, date night or family trip. I will definitely be back! read more

There are so many delicious options for food here in Paris and yet we've found ourselves at this restaurant twice in our four day stay. The servers are fantastic; true professionals and that's probably 80% of this five star review. The food of course is fantastic - we ordered the goat cheese spring rolls, beef filet, duck confit, oysters, and some other menu items...everything was delicious. My very handsome and clever boyfriend described the oysters as a "mouthful of the see- in a good way." I asked for a mix of the homemade iced tea and homemade lemonade (Arnie Palm) and although the waiter seemed perplexed by this request he granted it happily and please do yourself a favor and order that if you're into delicious beverages. Will come to this restaurant forever more on every subsequent trip to Paris. Thank you to the wait staff for making this such an entertaining and pleasant experience! read more

Cute lil cafe right off of the Champs Elysees area. Came here for breakfast on two occasions, and if your looking for more than the typical Petit Dejeuner meal - you'll be sourly mistaken, as your only other option is an omellete (which they cook pretty well here). Service is also good here; and in typical small scale cafe's - is waited by 1 server; so patience is key. Coffee (Americano) is holy smokes strong. Even if you're a black coffee drinker - you might be scrambling for some milk to add in. ** Aside from the set breakfast, the Croque Monsieur is a good favorite of mine. read more

I don't know if we just ordered the right things or came here on a good day but when we came here we had a delicious meal and a very enjoyable overall dining experience. We read the reviews prior and did not have very high expectations but we left very impressed. I ordered the pasta of the day which happened to be a tortellini pasta and cream sauce. So so so good! SO GOOD! Very creamy and flavorful! My fiancé ordered the sea bass which came with ratatouille, rice and a side salad. He also thought it was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive and the overall ambience had the "Parisian cafe" atmosphere and look that one would expect and hope for when dining in Paris. Very intimate. Also, we thought prices were very reasonable, which is hard to come by in Paris. My pasta was about 13 euros and the sea bass may have been around or less than 20 euros. Overall, I would say it is definitely worth it to stop here if you are in the area but I wouldn't tell you to make it a special point to come here. read more

Good side spot for lunch near Champs-Élysées! We didn't want to fight for space with other tourists so we took a little detour to a side street along the main road for a quick lunch. It was pretty crowded which is always a good sign, but still had seats available for us. It was a great spot for people watching! The menu had lots of items ranging from salads to sandwiches to pizza to traditional french fare. We ordered two salads and a pizza. The salads had smoked salmon over greens, avocado/prawn tartare, some delicious cucumber cottage cheese, and a pancake like thing. The pizza had ham, mushrooms, and a variety of greens. They also gave us a basket with some cut up baguette. We thought the food tasted fresh and it was flavored well. The price ended up being about 48 euros for the three of us, which is manageable but still expensive compared to back at home in the US. read more

This cafe is right off the Champs Elysees. We actually walked past it the first time as the outdoor area of quicker chairs was full but came back around later after not finding a ton of good options. We split a bottle of wine and also got the escargot and the terrine. The escargot was delicious, very juicy and perfectly cooked! The terrine was also pretty good. We considered getting another round of the food items but decided we were too full. The place feels like a classic, the waiters were gracious and attentive. If you're around Champs Elysees and don't want to spend an orxinatant amount or be right in the middle of the chaos this is a wonderful place right off the main drag! read more

This was one of our best meals in Paris which was a huge surprise. We were at the Christmas market and it was close so I thought it wouldn't be that good since by a tourist area. They had menus in English and the waiter was really nice. My husband got the beef special with noodles and I got a chicken special with rice. Both were perfectly cooked and flavorful. My chicken was amazing. We also started with escargot and it was delicious. I loved the presentation. We were both full but the waiter told us we had to try this apple desert and it was good as well. Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, as I was in the bathroom the waiter asked my husband if he wanted to tip extra. I don't think the service called for an additional tip. My husband gave in and tipped. That is why I am not giving it a full rating. I don't think the waiter should have asked and I haven't seen that at other restaurants in Paris. If I was at the table no extra tip would have been given. I am always surprised though how restaurants in Paris can basically function with a bartender and one waiter. Maybe one other employee in front of house. Extremely efficient. If back in this part of town I would eat here again. read more

I had the risotto as my main and it was so incredibly delicious, words can't describe it. They serve it with some greens on top and parmesan on the side of the plate, all in perfect proportions. It came with a bit of very fresh baguette on the side as well - I'm normally not a fan of baguette as I hate the crunchiness but this was just right - fresh enough to be quite lovely. For dessert I went with the crème brûlée du moment. It was so delicious. Just the right amount of everything and they use the right dish to maximize the brûlée layer on top. They also seem to be pretty good with tourists - a few others were in the restaurant and the servers were patient with people's broken French or broken English. read more

We stopped here for dinner on a misty evening, hoping for a good dinner and the ambiance of the Champs-Élysées without its impossible prices. This place fit the bill. Waitstaff spoke workable English, and we enjoyed a few glasses of wine (€6/ea) while waiting for our dinner. Our entrées were about €15, and absolutely filling, delicious, and fresh. Neither was earth-shattering, but they helped ease the late afternoon hunger in anticipation of a late Parisian dinner. The meal started out great. It was delicious. My friend was eating her salad and found a very large hair. We showed the server and she hurried my friend to put the hair on the plate and took it away. We asked that the meal be taken off the bill. The server came back and said she couldn't take it off the bill but that she could give her free food. Naturally, my friend didn't want anymore food since there was hair in it the first time. The manager came over and said none of their employees had hair that looked like that which is why they wouldn't take it off the bill. No apology. My friend took a menu and was looking trying to find something to take away. Meanwhile, I was paying for my meal with my server and another server pushed me out of the way of the register. When my friend tried to order another salad the manager rudely told us to wait outside because he needed the table. We went to get up and wait and then three people ushered us out. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. Definitely eat elsewhere. read more
