Couldn't believe I almost skimped out of leaving a nice shout out for this place. Guys, if you're in the Montmartre area, skip all those touristy places on the main road and get your butt into La Mandigotte. Sure, it's off the beaten path but if you're looking for a no-frills, cozy, locals place with great affordable food and hospitable service, then you have to make that effort, walk down a couple more blocks and come over here instead. Our snail and soft boiled egg with fois gras appetizers - NO LIE - were one of the most delicious and plentiful starters we'd had in Paris! I'd never seen so many snails served in a single appetizer and nothing but awesome feedback on the soup. We are huge fans of the soft boiled egg soup in general but this was so perfectly done. Fois gras lovers will rejoice with this combo. For my entree, I went with the prawns and scallops on veggies and rice. Nice fresh seafood dressed lightly with flavored garlicky oil and herbs. Pretty frigging good I must say. And the best part? The wine here was so affordable. I think we got away with spending less than 55 euros for 2 apps, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. During our trip to Paris, one of the local guides recommended this place to us and I am glad we went ahead! Once you start approaching the street you will come across many food joints ( we went on a Friday night, most of the bars had happy hours and thus the street was way too crowded). In the corner we spotted this cute little gem of a restaurant ( surprisingly not so crowded considering the amazing food!). Mr. and I are always game for trying new dishes and since we had already heard good reviews about this place, we were more than excited to dig in the menu once we were comfortably seated outdoor. The server brought the menu for us ( which is nicely displayed on a chalkboard). We started off with soft boiled eggs infused with foie grass- and it was simply amazing!! Something different and extremely light- just how a starter should be! Post that we ordered Grilled duck and Rabbit and ate to our heart's content!! To end the perfect evening on a sweet note, we had Creme Brulee and Raspberry Tiramisu ( might run out of words if I start describing how much I loved each bite of that Tiramisu). American tourists visiting Montmartre. We looked on Yelp and saw the pictures of the menu. Those pictures are old! The menu has changed and the prices are higher now, so check their website. It seems to have transitioned from a mid-priced restaurant to higher end. We did not have reservations but the two of us were able to be seated. We ordered the duck breast salad and the lamb shoulder. The salad was small but good, and the lamb was delicious. The restaurant has an intimate vibe and there were many couples and groups. It was a small operation with two waiters and maybe a handful of people in the kitchen. After our food we had to wait at least 30 minutes to get our check. As Americans, we know that service can be more casual in France so we waited patiently, and then started glancing or making small gestures to the waiter. Another couple was turned away while we were waiting to get our check and leave. We would have waited longer but we finally got the waiter's attention and were able to pay. Overall the food was great, although on the pricier end (so check their website). The wait was frustrating, which knocked a star off the review. I felt it was understaffed for the price level. It is a small restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. The waiter/owner are the one greeting you welcome. In the back of the restaurant, the chef is producing some of the best food I have ever tasted. The menus consists roughly of 8 entrees, 8 main courses, and 8 desserts. Most of them classic French dishes but also new modern dishes such as a soft boiled egg infused with Foie gras. It was a very good and authentic restaurant with tasty food and fair prices. It is located in Monmantre, beautiful area in the northern part of Paris. A bit hidden from the main street, but still easy to find with the mobile navigator. Be aware that staff is not very fluent in English. Menu is changing frequently. It is not too large, but still offers a great variety. From starters to desserts. If you a looking for a nice location and not for one more typical tourist traps, this should be on your shortlist. read more

This is a hidden gem in the middle of beautiful Montmartre. We had ressies for 8:30 on a Friday evening and when we arrived there was a sign at the door that said the restaurant was full for the evening. Luckily we had ressies!!! The choices on the chalkboard menu were solid and we wanted to try everything. The escargots on toasted baguette were plentiful and each bite was fingerlicking garlicky yumminess. I had the beef bourguignon which I was craving since I got to France and that was executed flawlessly. The beef was tender and tasty. The lamb was fall off the bone and to end we had the chocolate fondue with fruits. Service was friendly, prompt and very accommodating. I think the owner was the one running around taking orders serving and checking if anyone needed anything else. I would def come back here next time in Paris. C'est bon! read more

This place was my favorite out of all the restaurants I went to the week I was here in Paris, the ravioli was so good I wanted to order more but wanted to save room for the main course and dessert. Visiting Paris over the weekend there were a few things I needed to do: 1) Give a whistle stop tour of my childhood city... 2) Go to the party which we'd gone to Paris for... 3) Eat as much great French food as I could stick in my mouth... So donning my challenge Anneka persona we went in search of a great restaurant... and by luck we found it whilst wandering down from the artists quarter. It was a balmy summers evening so we took a lovely outdoor seat, where we enjoyed a fantastic, well made and fresh meal. We started with the Goats tart, which was shared, then steak (blue with pepper sauce) and salad. This was washed down with a fantastic red, with a coffee and desert... and all for under the equivalent of £40 - not bad for the two of us. The waiter was very patient with my pygmy French and helped us with our food choices, and the steak was cooked perfectly, exactly as I wanted it. The owner is really friendly. If you are looking for a nice place to eat some traditional French food do not look further. Some and cosy great for a couple to enjoy a nice meal in Paris. The price are reasonable and with 50 for two you can get a tasteful day. We had to wait two minutes and it is advanced to call before so you know if there is space or not. The selection of wine is small. However, they are local and appropriate for the deshes. The red wine is delicate and white one is refreshing. We had a meat dish and a fish dish. We were taking a quieter way down from Sacre Couer and happened along this place. It seemed mostly reservations while we were there (so recommend calling in advance) but the host was very kind in fitting us in as it was early in the evening. The food was incredible: beef bourguignon, seared tuna, duck, pork fillet. You won't be sorry. Oh and the desserts! Usually we split a couple between our family but they sounded so good we each ordered one. The tarte tatin was the favorite, but the chocolate fondant and cheesecake were close behind. They were so friendly and accommodating to us (including our broken French). My girls loved saying hello to the sweet, super soft yellow lab that watches over the restaurant, too. read more
