I will say this, service was a little bit slow for a Sunday night and there wasn't a ton of people there. So I'm not sure what was up with that but I got my iced tea and it was one of two glasses that I got during the meal. Because our waiter never came back to check on us. We had to ask another waiter to get our waiter to get the tea. Anyway, the carnita showed up and it was very very good, they have fresh made tortillas there and they were excellent. The back dining room has been revamped and the new lighting REALLY makes the room "POP". I got, since it was a little later, Caldo de Res and two tacos. My dinning companion got French toast, and one of the other members, who had just moved to El Paso got Machaca, just to try it, he's never had anything like it before. I got so busy taking o forgot to take of a pic of my Caldo when it arrived, and I got the regular, but this bowl of warm yumminess was piled high with meat. And plenty of veggies I also got two tacos, as I normally get Breakfast and had not had them. Both dishes were delicious. My friend LOVED the traditional French toast and sausage. He particularly liked the sausage patties. But that French toast, with no pretense, no fancy bread, just traditional Texas Toast, was wonderful he said. And our friend that got the Machaca?? Loved it. We all had coffee, which after you get your first cup full they also just leave a carafe on the table. So there is no waiting on the wait staff to bring you more, or having to "flag one down". There are large TV's with whatever sports, this time of year it's college football. And if you're Lucky, on second Saturday of the month, which is when we have Bible Study, around 9-10:30 you will probably see Former Mayor Oscar Leeser holding court with some friends and enjoying the food as well. Recently, I had their chicken fried steak and it was awesome. I recommend you going there for breakfast lunch or dinner. They do have a lunch special, but I believe it ends at 4 o'clock. The wait staff is not exceptionally friendly, as they are always busy, but the food is well worth it .
