First time trying flautas here at carnitas Q and flautas were on my mind. Placed my order and 10 minutes later 4 thick chicken flautas arrived bathed in guacamole salsa and sour cream. The plate looked delicious rice and beans can't go wrong with that. At first bite the flautas were crunchy and the chicken inside was super good still hot. There's no doubt that the Zaragoza location has the better chefs. The same plates here aren't as good as the other locations. I made a reservation for 8 and the tables weren't ready on arrival even though the place was pretty dead. There were only 2 other couples and us during lunch. Our waiter had to be hounded to refill our drinks. The chips were stale and the salsas flavorless. I ordered the desebrada tacos and they were ok. Nothing special there. I tried the enchilada off a friend's plate and it tasted like canned chile colorado. My other friend ordered the chicken tampiqueña and it was a huge breast but sadly it was dryey. I tried a bite of the 3 leches cake and even it was dry. . Very unimpressed with this location. Will not be returning. read more

This restaurant is our family's favorite. Plus sides are decent parking, the restaurant is nice and clean and the staff is friendly. The carnitas are flavorful and not dry, tripitas were nice and flavorful, and can't forget the margaritas were good balance of flavor and alcohol, Lol! We ordered a beer and the glass was super cold and the base was lemon/lime, and it was so good. 10/10 would order that again. our whole table was FULL of food, we had to move things around to make room, so for the price point the portions are equal. The restaurant itself looks great and staff was friendly. However, service was SLOW, the Jalapeño margarita looked like a smoothie and tasted way off. My husband ordered a bottle of beer, it was brought in a can, the water tasted weird and the chips were too thick and greasy (in my opinion). I ordered a michelada instead with XX Lager, I think she brought me a Radler instead (lemonade and beer). This was all before the food y'all . Cute and inviting restaurant. We finally had the chance to make it in for lunch and we were all excited to try it out. The hostess quickly sat us down and he left us with menus. The sever came on over right away to drop off chips and salsa and also our drinks. The menu had alot of different dishes and they all sounded really good. I ended up ordering two sopes with the shredded beef. My husband had a small chicken tortilla soup with a steak salpicon salad and my friend had the large bowl of posole. The green salsa that came along with the chips was to die for. The red one... not so good. We didn't wait too long for our food and everything smelled good when it was brought out. My sopes were delicious!!! The meat was full of flavor and it was perfectly seasoned. The chicken tortilla soup was AMAZING. That is definitely my future order. The posole was a big ol NO. It had no flavor. It was literally red greasy water with a bunch of fatty meat. The meat had so much fat, ew. Even after squeezing like 6383919 pieces of lime, the broth had no flavor. The sever was ok but was really awkward. She had a big ol staring problem and made it obvious. Don't these Mexicans taste their own food??? Beans and rice are a staple in Mexican food. Their charro beans were so salty. And the rice so generic. Put some peas in the rice. Use some tomato sauce to make them moist. I don't know...but do something. I've had better rice at Taco Cabana! My girlfriends Caldo de res was really tasty. But do NOT order the tacos de Papa. They don't salt the potato and the taco shell reminded me of Old El Paso brand taco shells. I know..it's a crazy thing to order. Who would order a taco filled w potato?? My stomach started to hurt midway through the meal and the potatoes and chorizo were soggy. The service was ok at best.

Our family of 4 ordered chile con queso, 2 orders of red enchiladas, and 2 orders of beef flautas. The chile con queso was terrible-tasted like the chiles came from a can. After waiting 45 minutes for our food and being assured constantly by the waiter that the food was coming, he came back to tell us that they had run out of beef flautas. A Friday night at 7:00 pm and you're out of flautas? And it took you that long to tell us. We changed the order to chicken flautas and barbacoa. The waiter brought us the chicken flautas and enchiladas but we still waited 20 minutes more for the barbacoa. The chicken enchiladas were cold and tasted terrible. The chicken was not shredded, rather it was in huge chunks. And the barbacoa was inedible-no one at the table could eat it. The best thing we had that night was the glass of water and the chips. Delicious restaurant! I am so excited that this location opened up so close to my home. Primarily, the restaurant is gorgeous, both interior and exteriorly. The interior is ample with a large bar and seating area. Staff was very accommodating and our server was fantastic! He was very amiable and provided fantastic service. As for the food, the food was delicious! We started with an appetizer of chori-queso, which was to die for! I am a huge lover of chorizo. The combination was perfect, the cheese was cheesy, and the homemade tortillas that accompanied the cheese made a great combination! My husband and I also had some of their alcoholic beverages, their mango margarita was delicious! A little too large for me but regardless, it was tasty. I ordered their shrimp cocktail- Highly recommend! Very, very good! My husband had their suiza enchiladas-also very good. The restaurant does stick to their motto, of cooking homemade Mexican food. Being from San Antonio, this Mexican food wad delicious by far the best I've had. Overall, I love this restaurant! Beautiful décor inside and outside, drinks are delicious and large! This prob one of my worse restaurants! We been here several times and almost always have trouble, something bothers out stomach so bad! At first, we thought oh, it's prob not the restaurant, just us. Probably one of the best mexican restaurants i got to experience in all El Paso!!! What made this place so great was not only how new and almost upscale quality the place is, but the customer service was outstanding! Of course, like every new establishment, there are still some kinks they need to work out. Since i went with a bunch of my girlfriends, it was a group of 5 at a table and there were some mistakes with our sides we ordered. It also took awhile for some of us to get our drinks and when we got our seperate checks, there were extra charges and mixed up orders on our receipts. But we got to point it out and our waitress Mariela was happy to fix any issues. The manager of the place made stops at the tables to check on the food and how everything was. As for the food and drinks. Nothing less than stellar! Firstly, they make their tortillas fresh in house!! Omg, were those corn tortillas amazing!! We tried their queso fundido appetizer, carne asada taco plate, carnitas plate, and posole. And we finished off with their sopapillas for dessert. Nothing was short of amazing! And their charro beans??? You have to get it!! We must have stayed and talked for over 3 hours and they kept asking if we needed anything else. They prolly didnt want us to keep loitering for as long as we did lol. But we were just enjoying ourselves so much in that comfty booth table we had and the ambiance of the place and good food and good friends, we just didnt want to leave! Tried to go there for breakfast this morning hostess said a 20 minute wait .....fine even though the place was half filled. I asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar and wait and have a drink which mind you no one was sitting at the bar. She flat up told me no that it would mess up the count whatever that meant. We stood there for 10 minutes and then she proceeds to sit a gentleman at the bar and they served him coffee!!!! WTF!!! Worst service and I do understand that they are short staffed but this was purely about the color of my skin it wasn't dark enough I guess. Told them I will never come back! read more

This place has two for one breakfasts! The two for one menu includes favorites like migas, huevos divorciados, chilaquiles, etc. and range from $8-10 a plate. The manager, Jesus Fontes was not just polite, but went above and beyond for us. We are meeting a few family members here and we really appreciated his help planning how to accommodate our small party. Honestly, I just don't understand the hype. I've seen this chain restaurant around a few times. Only went once before my last visit and we have had a pretty terrible experiences both times at 2 different locations. The first time I went with another couple who introduced us to the place, it was 4 adults and two kids in total. We were basically the only people there. The food was terrible....my husband had chicken tacos, it tasted like they literally boiled chicken breast in plain water and threw it in what was at one point a crunchy shell that was immediately soggy on arrival. (Thank goodness it was packed with 90% lettuce so some crunch was still possible) I had the carnitas dish that was so dry and hard it wasn't even edible. We aren't the type to complain so we went with our losses and decided to pay and never come back. We get the bill and they automatically added a 15% gratuity because apparently our small group is considered as a large party. Now at this location we arrived to a completely packed parking lot. We decided to give it one more try since it's new maybe the food will be better! We get inside expecting a huge crowd, due to the parking lot......completely empty once again! Oh well, maybe quicker service!?! Wrong again, literally 80% of the workers were all chilling out in the patio area like a gang of teenagers at sonic. Now if I'm recieving amazing service regardless, I wouldn't care....when I have to wave you down like I'm guiding a plane to my table to receive any service...it's an issue. Since our first experience we chose badly we asked the waiter what was good and decided to go for the couples meal of carnitas tacos because everything is expensive and it seemed like a good deal. Just FYI....you get a choice of 2 sides I believe. And of course if you want anything to go on your tacos, lettuce and tomatoes are one of those side options you have to go with. I asked if they just had cilantro and onions because personally that's what I prefer. This waiter looked at me like I was absolutely crazy and claimed of course they didn't at first, I responded...how does a restaurant catering mexican cuisine not have basic ingredients like onions and cilantro? I did make the remark jokingly but he suddenly changed tune and said he can just bring me some. Okay then...Well the food finally arrives! They place the carnitas, the tortillas, and the sides. Starving we dig in immediately to disappointment. Carnitas are flavorless and ridiculously dry. The charro beans...bland and undercooked. Sadly the best thing there was the baked potatoes and the refried beans. (Also note the sides are served in ridiculously tiny bowls) They don't serve any salsa or anything like that to add to your tacos, like I stated before unless you ordered the tomatoes as one of your sides with the meal (What a rip off) . Am I the only person confused by the lack of lime, cilantro, onions, and salsa?? The only upside is the place was beautiful inside but sadly the service and food is always an issue.
