Any who...food was so good. We ordered breakfast and we both enjoyed our dishes. The pancakes were so good and my hubby also liked his steak and eggs. The waitress spoke little English, but I speak Spanish so that wasn't an issue. Just something to be aware of. I could tell they have a lot of regulars that the staff is familiar with which is always a good sign. We'll be back too! Good meals good customer service; but the reason I'm giving 1+ it's bc we went to have breakfast and we both got sick. Food poisoning?? We had abdominal cramping-nausea throwing up. So next day I called and asked for owner (Melissa). I was barely starting talking to her and very rude she interrupted me I asked her to let me finish so I explained to her what happened and she abruptly interrupted my conversation again so in between conversation she kept interrupting me so said to her YOU KNOW NEVER MIND and I hang up. Had a terrible experience at Ernie's on Zaragoza. I ordered two taco plates through Uber Eats and got the wrong food (picadillo, which we didn't order or want). When I called, the manager refused to take responsibility, blamed me (was told Taco plates can't be ordered on the app, they can, see screenshot), wouldn't give her name, denied the mistake even after I offered proof via screenshot, and hung up on me. Too bad I have to give them a star. They deserve -5 stars. The food is terrible. The manager doesn't care about the customers. Little does he know that the customers are The ones who pay his salary. We ordered they're Chile Colorado plate. All we got are French fries covered with red chili sauce. My father complained and they told him to order something else, and they would deduct the plate from the bill. He ordered a burrito. Then when we got the check we still got charged for the Chile Colorado plate. The waitress went to see if the manger would take it off. It was near closing time so I'm wondering how that played in to the equation. Overall the food was good but nothing was hot. The menu is extensive with traditional Mexican food, breakfast options, burgers, seafood and a kids menu. I opted for the Monster Burger based on the menu picture and description. The burger came out & looked great - complete with the steak knife stabbed into the middle! Bright and early and my wife and I had just left my Dr appointment and were hungry. We decided on Ernie's as it was close to home and always seems packed. We park and walk in and there's a short 5 minute wait which we don't mind. Promptly seated and our waitress takes our order. The coffee was nice and hot and very good on a cool morning. We both ordered the menudo and my wife also ordered a flour tortilla as she was craving a homemade one. Had breakfast here this morning. This is usually my favorite Mexican breakfast place. I like that the portions are generous. And although i usually have the chilaquiles breakfast this time I had a small menudo and the carnuta tacos dorados plate. The nenudo was lackluster. I was informed they were out of onions so that made my menudo taste meh. How does a Mexican restaurant run out of onions an hr into opening? Don't know but that was odd. The carnita tacos were so good though that who even remembered the menudo? They had the perfect crunch and the meat was tender and flavorful. The rice was so good too. Never noticed they add celery to the rice but it adds a nice flavor. The reason I docked a star was the service. The waitress was in the clouds or sunbathing. Not very attentive. This is becoming an east-side favorite Mexican joint. Nine times out of ten you will leave this restaurant satisfied. Breakfast is amazing, Lunch gets very busy and some days they close early (before 6pm). Everything you order is going to be standard quality Mexican food. The food is very good but for those of you that can cook, it's nothing that you couldn't replicate at home. I love coming here when I want great Mexican food and not have to clean my kitchen. The food at Ernie's was good and I'll definitely be back to have other breakfast items. The huevos rancheros are served with hashbrowns, beans and flour tortillas. They were the same style of rancheros that are typically served in El Paso so it was definitely a good breakfast. They make their own flour tortillas which are HUGE and so good! We were out shopping on the east side of town and remembered good comments about Earni's from fellow coworkers a few years back and decided to try it after reviewing Yelp reviews. It is a nice restaurant and very clean. We came at a time when there was a large party and service was very slow The chips and salsa served at the table were fresh and the salsa a bit spicy. My husband ordered the Mexican plate and true to previous reviews it was a lot of food. He could not even finish the plate. He said it was excellent and that the taco was the best. It was full of meat and seasoned just right. I had the hamburger steak (?) which also was very good and more than I could finish. It was covered in chili (ground beef and beans) and served with pan-fried potatoes, shredded lettuce, and a slice of tomato. It also was delicious. Thought the $15 a plate for such a simple fare was a bit high but as I said there were leftovers for the next day. The staff seemed frazzled but were pleasant enough. I ordered chile verde with rice and beans which was delicious -- spicy tender pieces of meat. It came with a 12" flour tortilla. Wife ordered Milanesa torta. She said bun was buttery (a good thing), and the steak was very flavorful. She recommends eating it with the red sauce. Son had chicken nuggets and fries of course. He picked at it but I think he was just tired. A slight turn off was the fact that when we walked into the place, there were about four staff members at the hostess station texting.
