I saw a similar place in San Antonio and it was packed so didn't have a chance to try it. But then found there was a Black Bear here. Well, the food was great and you have so much to choose from. And, breakfast is served all day. I need to come back next time for that. I ordered salmon and it was delicious. Alan, the server was great. The restaurant looked great with images of bears and it has a good feel for it.

My kids were so happy about their free dessert with dinner!

Came here on a Tuesday evening with my family of 7 for a birthday dinner. We all have different palettes so this spot had something for everyone. I called ahead of time because this new location has been so busy lately and the last time (on a Saturday night) the wait was over an hour that we decided to dine elsewhere. Tonight was the night! There was no wait and the staff was stellar from start to finish. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it did not disappoint. So happy to have found a decent burger in El Paso. Who knew Black Bear would be one of the few spots! My daughter had a burger too and she said it was good. Shoot. I forgot to take a picture. That's how good it was! My kiddos ordered fish and chips, chicken tenders, and Mac and cheese meals. My little mac n cheese eater was not crazy about his. To be fair, the menu did not deceive and literally said it was Kraft Mac n cheese. I think he still expected gourmet. My hubby went with breakfast for dinner. The blueberry pancakes looked great but ended up having too many blueberries within, so he'll skip that next time. The fries were bussin' and hot. I'm looking forward to trying their patty melt next time. I can see us returning more often. My daughter says she may want to choose Black Bear for her birthday dinner as well.

We were visiting from out of state and stopped by for a breakfast. We were seated rather quickly. Our server Natalie was outstanding. The food was great! I must say all of the staff from the host to our server were extremely hospitable! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

So I'm back for my birthday celebration today, with some friends who bright me out and asked where I wanted to go and I chose the diner. I had the pot roast with salad, and had bread pudding for dessert. My dining partners had a chili bowl with corn muffin, a Denver omelette with hash browns and corned beef hash with potatoes, scrambled eggs and added a waffle, because WAFFLES!! Oh and they split a chocolate cream pie. So my salad was amazing, forgot to take a pic. The ranch dressing here is really good. Ripe to and crisp romaine. And nice cucumbers. My pot roast was so tender it was simply falling apart, the veggies under were nice. The gravy was yummy, I had to ask for some extra. The green beans were simply amazing here. And they had corn on the cob!!! Bi-colored, sweet, tender-crisp when you took a bite! SO GOOD. My dining partners liked their food, the Denver omelette was a picture to look at and huge. The only real complaint there was the has was just too dry. It was just shredded corned beef and small cubed potatoes. It needed something to bring it all together, she said. She didn't finish it. The 3 of them split a chocolate cream pie. It looked very nice but when cutting into it, to share slices, that was impossible, it was not set inside, it was very runny. Perhaps the waiter grabbed one that had just been made and not one that had chilled long enough, but they ate it with spoons and loved the flavor. My bread pudding was spectacular. I love Bread Pudding anyway, but this was very very good but the third bite in, it was cold, not just refrigerator cold but super cold. So I called the waiter back over and asked him to please reheat it because it was like near frozen in the middle. Which he happily did and also added some fresh whipped cream for me. So a couple of miscues with the desserts but all in all a nice birthday celebration. MAGGIE, I know you wanted me to email you, on my previous review, HOWEVER, your email address you gave bounced back as undeliverable or not an email address on several email options I have. Just to let you know, I tried. I was going to just come talk to you in person, but today was not the day to do that sort of thing. Could you check and see if your email address is correct? Thank you! Love the BBD! Will be back again.

We ordered 2 chicken fried steak dinners with baked potatoes, the meals came out about 45 minutes later, one meal missing a baked potato (waited 15 minutes more for that). The waitress never smiled, we had to request a refill of one iced tea which was served without ice, we thought the tea was already chilled but it turned out to be hot from the brewer. The waitress served the tea and did not even offer ice as she left our table. The food was good but getting 1/2 our meal and the long waits really ruined our appetites. From beginning to end of service our waitress (Kailey G) did not even smile. It was our first and last visit to the Black Bear Diner.

I wanted to love this place. But the food was just OK. We waited a long time for a table and my sandwich ended up being pretty greasy and hard to eat. Cute decor, though.

This place hasn't been opened long and I'm sure its still trying to get the kinks worked out. But for my visit we had a good waitress. The restaurant has cute decor. I had the bread pudding French toast. It was perfect. I loved every bite. I cant wait to go back for more. My sisters biscuit and gravy was needed more gravy. She asked for more but it still wasn't enough. That was the only issue but nothing major. Also there was a toddler screaming and crying and one of the workers wearing a green shirt went over and got the toddler to stop crying. I really appreciated that he cared enough to help a mother out to comfort her child.

First of all the service is top notch. From entering to leaving the entire front of the house staff is extremely attentive. The portions are huge. The taste of the food is amazing. The restaurant itself has a cozy, home feel to it. This place is a must try!.

We have been to this restaurant several times in the past, and have considered it one of our…read morefavorites. Until today. After today, not going back. We are not sure what happened, but the place changed. The old staff (who were relaxed and fun to be around) are all gone, the delicious food we kept returning to have is also gone, replaced by a menu that doesn't know what exactly this restaurant wants to be (tacos, fried chicken, attempt at French menu items, etc). They have 6 different kinds of French toast. We tasted 2 of them, and they have the same taste. Just different toppings. The price for the French toast with eggs, bacon and home fries was $17. Now they charge $18 just for 2 slices of brioche with some sauce that resembles the old Banana Foster sauce, and an additional $6 for the eggs, bacon and home fries. Disappointing, and more expensive than it's worth. Walking into a restaurant to be held hostage by some speech about a small store selling books inside the restaurant?! Yeah, don't do that. If we hadn't already ordered, we would have left. No refill on water, no inquiry about any other drinks. I wasn't even finished with my meal and the server slapped the check on the table and walked away. If that doesn't make you feel "welcome to leave", I don't know what does. Looking around, I find it unacceptable to bring food to the table 5 minutes apart for every person at the table. The staff now wears embroidered shirts with the restaurant logo (except for one, she was just chewing her gum while taking orders- also, ew), and the atmosphere has changed from casual to "we wanna be high end, we made some money so now we want you to pay more". Disappointing.

I never felt rushed, and I learned so much in the process.‍ A special thank you to Javier, Juan and Ricardo, who helped with my bike. Ricardo, who is about to celebrate his 19th birthday, has such a genuine passion for cycling, and it shows in the pride he takes in his work. It's wonderful to see young people who truly enjoy helping others. I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to the owner and the entire team for creating such a welcoming place. And they just recently added a Mexican skillet that was excellent. EXCEPT for the fact that the cooks at this restaurant do NOT know how to make an over medium egg. The skillets are all topped by eggs, and you can get them any way you want them cooked. I don't like over hard eggs, I like a soft yoke. But I also do not like a runny yoke, which immediately drips all over rest of the meal as soon as I hit it with a fork. Every time I come here and order a skillet, I order the eggs over medium, and every single time I come here, I get over easy eggs that run all over the rest of the meal. I do NOT understand why someone who is working in a restaurant as a cook does not know how to make an over medium egg. I CAN MAKE AN OVER MEDIUM EGG AT HOME, and I've NEVER worked as a cook in my life. Just unbelievable. Other than that, all the food at Village Inn is pretty good, and reasonably priced. In the interest of full disclosure, I would say that in the 4 years I've been coming here, I did get over medium eggs cooked properly 3 or 4 times.

TDLR synopsis: sometimes service can be the reason that you come to a brunch place even though the…read morefood is just ok. I saw some pictures of a new brunch place in the Far East off Zaragoza, and it looked good. It's hidden in the back next to Sky Zone and across the street from Oasis Lanes, so finding it was a little hard. When I walked in I didn't realize it was so small because I had convinced some of the girls to come to try it out with me from the Peachlab workouts. They wanted to come out to celebrate Nurse B's birthday as well as mine because that's the type of supportive community they are, but most are vegan, so I try to find places that have vegan food alongside others so that we can dine together as a group. When I saw that Boca Brava had vegan tacos on the menu, I was really excited. What I didn't know was that on Sundays they only have a Sunday Brunch menu and it doesn't have the regular items. The vegan tacos $3 each consisted of mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions (grilled and pickled), my friends enjoyed it with a variety of salsas. Luckily for us, our waitress was amazing and she got the staff to make us some vegan tacos. They were beyond accommodating and I appreciate that. Because they obviously were in a rush to make items that weren't on the menu that day, the tacos didn't come out perfectly and they're willing to redo it and also not charge us for it. My breakfast plate of 2 eggs, hashbrowns, one bacon slice, and 3 corn pancakes (with slightly spicy maple syrup) was $15. Mimosas were $3. My hashbrowns were really greasy, but the over-easy eggs and crispy bacon were cooked perfectly. The best part was the corn pancakes, I don't think I've had a lighter pancake but with substance. It wasn't doughy which is usually why I avoid pancakes, but crispy and light, probably because of the cornmeal. It was delicious. My other friend ordered chilaquiles and said that it was delicious and not mushy. We also ended up getting 2 free chocolate cakes because they overheard us saying that it was our birthday. Our waitress even took our picture, but I got cropped out, lol, my bad I didn't check the pictures until I got home. For a new place willing to admit they can be better and put the customers first, I really think they'll do well. It's refreshing and it'll bring back repeat customers. If I lived in the far East this would be one of my regular places. Boca brava (915) 219-8700 1691 N Zaragoza Rd STE 5, El Paso, TX 79936 https://maps.app.goo.gl/exW9sS3pcPrAvNzZ6
