This is a great neighborhood restaurant. They have English versions of the menu and our waiter spoke English and was very helpful in recommending things to eat. The food was magnificent and portions were sufficient for any hungry person. The wine was fine, but there is no bad wine in France based upon personal observation. After a long day of travel, Yelp led us to this lovely little cafe near our hotel. For someone who's never been to Paris, this place is bubbling over with Parisan charm in a perfect setting off a picture-perfect neighborhood park. We had a lovely waiter who was friendly, made a few great recommendations, and had no problem with our lack of French speaking ability. The leg of lamb and veal stew were fantastic. The veal in a light, but rich cream sauce was a pleasant surprise. Sopping up the leftovers with the baguette was a guilty pleasure that I would gladly repeat nightly if I lived nearby. If you happen to be staying near here, do not hesitate to stop in, and don't be put off by the wine list. Let them pick for you. Located very close to the Arc De Triomphe, this restaurant stands out against the others with similar names with exceptional service and top notch food. After looking through the photos on Yelp, my family decided to visit the restaurant for dinner. Arriving at 10:45, the place appeared to be on the closing end of the shift but that did not hinder our meal one bit. The menus were written with a script style of font, making it somewhat difficult to read, but after showing our waiter the photos he made all the right suggestions. I had the Sirloin Steak with fries and it was the BEST steak I have had in Paris. When ordering it "medium," I typically am I bit worried (in Paris) due to multiple previous experiences with the meat arriving too rare. This was not the case at La Maison, my steak was perfect, I am talking slightly crispy on the outside and a small hint of pink on the inside... No blood whatsoever. It came with a pepper sauce which I highly recommend, and the portion was very acceptable. The service was excellent, upon arrival we were seated immediately which was nice because that does not happen to frequently in this city. Our drinks came out quickly and our food even quicker. Every person at my table was surprised at how fast our food arrived, and the quality of the dishes (two steaks, one chicken & one fish dish) all perfectly done. We concluded our dinner with a creme brulee or what they list as the vanilla bourbon dessert. Overall with the exceptional service and food, all the way down to the dessert, this place is GREAT. Do not waste your time looking for another place to eat, as they offer salads (for those looking for alternatives to meat) which looked excellent. Best duck breast we had on our short Paris days. It really looked like a steak, and i have never seen duck cut this way. The scallope potato is tres bien! Smooth and creamy. We had the best server, ever in Paris! He took back the pate that was a mistake and miscommunication. La Maison saved the day twice. This was my last super on my vacation and after many excellent meals the best prepared beurre Blanc on white fish will last in my memory for a lifetime. The sides were lovely vegetables just right. We got a side of their very skinny fries wonderfully prepared. The next morning was Mothers day in Paris. I was longing for my last Cafe and Croissant experience before jumping on the airport bus back to CDG and this being Sunday all the patisseries were closed. So glad they were open. Excellent experience. It is a quintessential Parisian street cafe with excellent service and food. My favorite restaurant in Paris (ok, next to the Bristol). I travel to Paris for work a few times a year and stay in the 17th close to the Arc de Triomphe. Eating at La Maison is a must do for me each time I'm there. It is a very typical bistros with great food. It is known, however, for its "cocottes," which are dishes prepared and served in small Dutch oven like pots. The last I had was veal with tomatoes and olives with fresh thyme. Yum. The wine list is nicely simple and varied; you'll find something you like at the price you want to pay. The service is also good; the waiters are politely edgey; they make fun; and they are kind to Americans, so don't worry even if you don't speak French. The restaurant is a little hidden in a quiet area not far from the Palais de Congress and not too far from the Arc. It is definitely worth the walk (or Metro) to get there. read more

First of all, it was not easy to find this restaurant. If you only speak English, don't go here. The energy and vibe were off. I think we were not treated the best because we didn't speak French. None of the servers asked how we were doing or how the food tasted. The bass were mediocre, and they were out of mashed potatoes. I really wanted the French creamy potatoes. It's weird having grilled fish with fries. The combination didn't sit well with me. It is not worth for the cost, which is about €19. My brother and I spent €41.20. I don't see how this restaurant has more than 1 star. It's not even worth it. The service was shit, and the server was decent. She did her best to speak English. I'm not dogging on this restaurant cause they didn't speak English. I'm amazed that anyone liked this mediocre facsimile of American cuisine. Ok, so we showed up late (10:45) on a Saturday night just 3 minutes before the kitchen was going to close. Ordered the chicken and rice, veal stew, pork with pepper sauce and steak special. The ingredients they used were very good - stew was creamy with fresh leeks and mushrooms. The problem was that most of the food was tasteless. Except for the 'salsa' that came with the chicken and rice. I like spicy, even hot food. But, this was super, choking hot without any real flavor. Very disappointing and not a cheap meal. Unless you speak French stay away from here. After a few days in Paris and some memorable meals I decided to try this bistro since it was close to my hotel and had excellent reviews. I found the rude French waiter we have all heard about. I thought it was a myth. I was greeted warmly by the Maitre D'. I was given an English menu which I appreciated. I wanted steak frites. There was a choice between rib steak with frites & salad or sirloin with Daphne potatoes. The waiter said the sirloin was the better choice. I agreed but asked for frites & salad instead. No problem I was told. The sirloin was served medium well instead of medium rare as requested. The frites were cold. Then the steak was tough and I had to ask for the sauce that should have arrived with it. I could accept all of that but then I was presented the bill!! I was charged extra for both the salad & the frites by 17€50! I asked about it & my waiter got angry. He knew he was wrong and threw 5€ back at me. I was also ignored through my meal, otherwise I would have ordered dessert & coffee. A better suggestion is to walk across the street to Cafe St Ferdinand. read more
