Absolutely FANTASTIC! When someone asked me what the best part of my two days in Paris was, I had to say that this restaurant ranked at the very top. It's not a super touristy place (which was nice!!), but the servers/bartenders were all SO gracious with us butchering their language, and helped answer all of our questions in English. The food was top-notch...we had the haddock, and the kids got the steak with fries. It was so quaint and the decor made it feel like we were in a really sweet time in the past. Oh Le Scheffer, I had such high hopes for you. My father and I stopped in a few weeks ago, and instantly were charmed by the atmosphere. It was truly full of local charm. However, when we told the waiter that we had only a bit of time, and ordered two coffees and the house special of the day, salad with duck fillet, things took a turn. The waiter actually became hostile and rude and all but said we had to leave and it was unacceptable we weren't ordering a three course meal. Np part of our visit was unprofessional or tacky. We simply did not have the time for a three course meal and made that known when we came in. I wish I could rave, because the food was amazing, but rude and horrific service leaves a bad taste regardless of what's on the plate. read more

We read the reviews that it was a restaurant with mostly locals but that there were English menus available and the restaurant had a friendly staff. We were ready for the experience. It was a busy lunch hour. We were greeted and seated quickly. We can speak a bit of French and maybe that was the problem. We were not offered English menus and we did not feel like we could ask for them. The female server that we had was curt. We thought being lunch time she was busy so we ordered. My daughter ordered pork intestines, by mistake. Our server said she would bring bread and it never came. She never asked why we did eat more than a few bites and we left. Do not go to this restaurant unless you are comfortable or strong enough to ask for things - if you don't ask, you will get nothing! I do not think they like tourists!! read more

Great little gem hidden in Paris. I was looking for some authentic French cuisine and stumbled upon Le Scheffer thanks to Yelp. Again, the results never let me down as I was entering a great little bistro that is a short 10 minute walk away from the Eiffel Tower (Trocadero and the 16th arrondissement) Le Scheffer has many accolades including Zagat and once you enter the restaurant, you are promptly greeted by the owner. He's a very welcoming guy and the place was bustling on a Tuesday night! Be prepared to rub elbows with the locals as this restaurant is tight and by that I mean you will make friends with your neighbors. My litmus test is the number of locals that eat at the restaurant and this place was packed with locals. I was seated next to some tourists from Australia and we got to chatting about Paris which was great. For the native English speakers, not to worry. Le Scheffer offers a menu in English however be advised that the waitresses may need to refer to their "cheat sheet" in order to place your order. They are native French speakers and their English isn't that great. I started with the roasted bone marrow with toasted bread, followed by the pan seared duck breast with rose wine, and finished it off with a rhubarb creme brulee and a cappuccino. The presentation of the food was fantastic and it tasted equally great. I can't complain about the prices either because they were very reasonable compared to many of their competing restaurants in the area. No need to dress up in a fancy suit either in order to dine here unless you want to. Service was good. I am just a sucker for European accents and the cute waitress taking my order really made my night. Next time I'll be back speaking fluent French just to show off. read more

Not an overcrowded, overpriced joint catering mainly to tourists like most restraints in the area. Filled with what seems like locals, and excellent food. A but on the pricey side when compared with the rest of Paris, but for the area isn't bad, and for the food + atmosphere is a bargain. I don't write a lot of reviews but had to for this establishment. Dinner 7:30 12/18/2017 (Monday) Event My birthday and celebrating our 10th yr wedding anniversary. Pros: Quaint, good authentic french atmosphere. (and that's where it stops). Appetizer was good. Cons: Full disclosure, my occupation, Cardiologist in the US, and I'm fortunate to be able to afford service at this restaurant. The server was what gave this establishment 1 star. She displayed a cold demeanor. I had the filet and my wife had lamb, the steak was done as ordered but still cool (felt like it was not allowed to defrost). But the icing on the cake, and the reason for disclosing my occupation, we had on multiple times tried to get her attention with no success, I had to stand up to get her attention that we wanted our check, which she brought over. A previous couple walked up to the front counter pay (not escorted), she grabbed the check from my hand, and ordered us to pay, and was "escorted" to pay our bill, like we'd run away without paying for our meal. As an African-American and I have had my share of awkward weird behavior, we just paid our bill and walked out. Recommendations - If you're a minority be cautious of the waiter service. I hope (but I can't confirm) that this is not the culture at this restaurant. I have tipped additionally on every other service received so far on our trip to France, this waiter did not get a tip. read more

Good French food with friendly service, and it's only a short walk away from the Eiffel Tower. It's a hole in the wall, but it's well worth the visit. It seems very popular among the locals, so that's always a good sign. Group of 4 of us had the artichoke caviar as entree (this is what they call appetizer/starter), and had grilled rib steak with green pepper butter, grilled rib of beer with Guerande salt, and duck fillet. Duck was our favorite. Prices of the main dishes range from ~5-25 euros so it's quite affordable. read more

Wow!, Service and food were fabulous and we were the only people speaking English yet they treated us very, very well. It's a real locals place. My husband had ribeye steak with bone marrow and it was covered with a huge amount of bone marrow that was delicious. I have the duck confit with roasted potatoes that were delicious. A wonderful experience...this local gem is just a five minute walk from the Trocadero with its amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. The crowd here are clearly neighborhood regulars, (a good sign that the food is going to be good) but we felt welcomed by the owner and servers who were happy to provide an english menu. The food was all very good- fresh, and well prepared- salads, vegetables, steak frites and lamb chops- we enjoyed it all... Make this restaurant part of an evening in the 16th. read more

Excellent meal--husband and I both had the grilled lamb. It came with fries and haricots verts. Everything was delicious and the lamb was cooked perfectly. For dessert he had the mousse au chocolat and I had the floating island. We switched half way through. Again, both were excellent. The total bill, including a 50 cl house rose was only 61.50 euros. Considering that it included tax and tip (we left a little more) it was a bargain for two San Franciscans. read more

Very authentic French, can be awkward for tourists dining with such locals. However, the food was PHENOMENAL. I ordered the lamb stew and proceeded to dream about it the following night. This place is amazing! My wife and I were looking for a non touristy restaurant that wouldn't break the bank and was near our hotel (Intercontinental Avenue Marceau) when we stumbled upon Le Scheffer. All of the other recommendations online said this was the place to go so we gave it a shot! We arrived around 8:00pm on a Wednesday night and were seated right away - it wasnt crowded at all. Somehow the waitress knew we weren't native french speakers so she brought us english menus which we appreciated. My wife ordered a thinly sliced salmon appetizer and the haddock with cream sauce as an entree. I ordered the bone marrow appetizer and lamb chops entree. Everything was so good! By far our best meal in Paris so far! Highly recommend and we'll be back! read more

Typical Parisian fare (at least compared to what I saw on my trip) served up at a small, local restaurant with very friendly staff conveniently located near Trocadero and the 16th arrondissement. I had some sort of boneless steak with sauce and fries that came highly recommended to me by my server, and I thought it was pretty mediocre in both flavor and quality. I ended up using the sauce for my fries instead because I didn't feel it went so well with the meat. I can't remember whether or not they have an English menu, but if they don't, and you're a non-French speaking tourist interested in trying Le Scheffer, it wasn't an issue; there was definitely at least one server who spoke English. I should also point out that this place seemed to be pretty popular among locals, so it could be that my friend and I were just bad at ordering. read more

We came here on our last night in Paris as it was only a few blocks from our hotel. I cannot say enough good things about our meal and overall experience. After being greeted by who I am assuming is the owner, we were sat immediately and instantly knew we had made the right choice. The restaurant was full but not overcrowded and the prices were great. It was pouring outside and the restaurant stayed open as we and a few other patrons waited out the storm until quite late. This was one of the more authentic least tourist locations we went during our stay. I would definitely reccomend. read more

YES! We have been in Paris for 5 days and this was the first truly excellent dining experience that we've had. I was initially a bit concerned as the reviews were not so recent, but partner called (to make sure it was still open) and make a reservation (recommended). When we arrived, we noted the windows plastered with recognitions (Zygat, Trip Advisor, etc.), the place was packed, and it SMELLED wonderful! But best of all was staff was so friendly. Our little table was right beside the bar and the bartender/owner suggested a wine for us to try while we perused the menu. Husband had duck; I had haddock. Both were outstanding. read more

My wife and I are celebrating 35 year anniversary this week here in Paris. We made reservations and arrived to a semi empty restaurant. In less than 10 minutes it was standing room only! Went here on recommendation of Yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. Food exceptional quality and just the right amount. Very reasonably priced with excellent service. Had the steak first night and my partner had the bream. Both cooked to perfection. Olive oil in the salad dressing is just Devine. Second night (yes had to go back to try another dish) haddock and the beef tartare. Again was not disappointed. Place filled quickly with locals which is always a great sign.
