Pricey and Average... First off, the location and service are top notch. I wish the food lived up to the reviews La Jolla Groves earned one its early years. The Wedge Salad is crisp and delicious but the Butternut Squash soup is too sweet and overly processed to a juice rather than a hearty soup. This soup could almost pass for an amuse bouche pallet cleanser toward the end of meal rather than a starter at the front. The dinner roles that are placed on the table are very mediocre and would be more impressive with a compound butter. The beef tenderloins with mango chutney were cooked to perfect temperature but the outer crust only took on the flavor of char rather than a seasoned crust. The potatoes that accompanies, were on par with a Village Inn big breakfast. The Carbonara pasta has some delicious bits of Pancetta and it appears the noodles are made fresh in house. But, to be honest, the dish was simply not memorable. It was basic and expressed no true culinary creativity for a restaurant in this price range. The desserts failed to dazzle as well. The lemon cake is under tart and the cake itself is of the same quality as a Costco sheet cake. The molten chocolate cake was neither molten, nor a standout a s a cake. They have a pleasantly broad offering of drinks, including beer, spirits and wine but the real standouts are the infused lemonades. In all, La Jolla Grove is perfect for large groups where the company makes the meal but can easily be skipped on date night. read more

The food and service were beyond our expectations! Katie and Jason took care of our every need and made our dining experience wonderful. The dishes we ordered were almost perfect. The salmon and the risotto were cooked perfectly. The halibut was a little over but it was a large fillet - the portions overall were a good size. Tried this place today - the short version is we won't be back. We tried the giant pretzel to start with. It's huge, but it came slathered in so much butter it was a bit soggy. The pretzel did still taste good, but the cheese dip was disappointing - it's strangely thick and tasted like velveeta. On to the French onion soup! This was good. The fresh rolls were also great. Finished off with the steak medallions and blackened salmon. These were fine, but pretty underwhelming for the price paid. The steak didn't have much flavor. For a $38 steak I'd expect better. The food was very good, I had my hanger steak delivered with a marsala sauce but instead came with a mango chutney, which was sweet. The waiter quickly corrected and the second hanger was perfectly cooked and hot. The soup and salad was very good but not the best. They had a wedding party and it seemed that the food wasn't very hot when delivered except for repeat hanger steak. Portabella was good but a little cold as well when delivered. I walked up to the host stand after seating in a very uncomfortable chair & hungry and asked why we were waiting and they said they were waiting for reservations to show (really 8 tables??). Apparently this upset them and they acted totally rude from that moment forward. BTW, I just dropped $128 on dinner and these trolls working the host counter are giving me crappy looks - don't reply when I say thank you / good night. This was our one & only visit. read more

This place is a little over hyped and priced. We read the reviews before coming here and decided to get most of their appetizers because they seemed to have the best reviews. And then for our entree we ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, the filet mignon, and shared it. We went on a week night and there were plenty of open tables but we still had to wait 10-15 minutes to be sat. Then we were given rolls that were underwhelming and just tasted like store bought rolls. Our appetizers were all pretty tasty but nothing extraordinary. The entree was disappointing. The steak almost seemed like it was boiled it was a weird texture and had no flavor. The appetizers are probably the best thing here but I don't know if they're worth coming here for. Overall okay experience but probably won't be back. Our ticket was a little over $100 for one entree and three appetizers. read more

I came in from Seattle last week Monday & told my son & wife I wanted them to take them some place special before we had plans later. My daughter in law picked your place because she had always wanted to try it. My daughters chicken was great & so was the bruschetta but, my dinner came cold so I nicely sent it back. When I finally received my shrimp pasta back from the chef my family was long done and ready to leave. We did have other plans for after dinner and I was exhausted after traveling all day. Afterwards I ordered a fast food chicken burger to fill my stomach. I really wasn't mad & thanked the good servers for their efforts. So with one cocktail, one beer, bruschetta, 3 very small salads and two dinners I paid $151.00 with a 15% tip on top of that. This not including the McDonald's chicken burger I ate on the way out of town. I use to waitress at a very nice place myself and refuse to get upset at the restaurant and or servers for anything in public but, I was surprised that they said they were sorry and never gave me a free appetizer, small salad or any of the drinks. Any one of those compensations would of been appropriate. Instead they handed me my bill & thanked me for coming. The last thing was when we got into my sons car he told me that his food was also cold but he was too hungry to send it back. read more

I was the one in our party of nine who had the worst meal! Therefor I give the restaurant a three star rating. Unfortunately I picked the Steak Salad. For $ 30 I felt that I was going to receive one of the best staeak salads ever! NOT SO! The steak wqs tiny bits of meat that had probably sat in a warming pan! This is a good spot for date night. I think people are deterred by the high prices, but the food really is pretty good. My first time going was during COVID and the service was not great by any means (auctioned off dishes, dropped a fork in my lap, left food on our table as they took dishes away, etc.) but I feel that is something that can be overlooked at this time. You should know though, a restaurant is 90% about the taste of the food for me. The best part about the restaurant is that the atmosphere is beautiful. The downside is that there aren't many gluten free options. The cheeseboard didn't have a bread alternative, so we just got meat and cheese. My partner ordered the vegan dish (a large mushroom risotto) but they didn't warn her that the sauce had gluten, so when it came without, it was dry and almost inedible. Its also difficult when they bring out that delicious bread to get you started, but you can't have any. I would steer clear if you're gluten free. read more

We had originally set a reservation, but circumstances changed and we ordered from here via delivery. The food arrived about an hour later. The total for four entrees and two appetizers, plus tip, was pricey, but the food lived up to the price. The food was still a good temperature out of the container. It was a celebration dinner so we transferred to normal plates; what looked skimpy in the bowl turned it to be decent portions. My hanger steak was well cooked, nearly fork tender, and delicious unsauced, but elevated by the two provided sauces - an aged balsamic and a chimichurri. The others got the medallions, and also earned raves both with and without the sauces. My mother loved the mango chutney. The charcuterie plate had a nice selection of cheeses, sausages, fruits, and an olive compote. I found this a better value than the bruschetta, which was tasty but smaller than expected--more an amuse bouche. The delivery menu makes for a tempting lunch hour, particularly the soft pretzel. La Jolla Groves has been a long time family favorite for special occasions. Honestly, I have enjoyed everything that I've ever had. The service can be a little slower, so plan on a little more time than usual then relax and enjoy your meal. For starters I love the butternut soup and the mushroom soup. Their flavored lemonades are wonderful as well. For lunch I typically go with the blackened salmon salad or if I'm looking for something a little more filling the shrimp scampi. I went for something new tonight and tried the braised rabbit. It was really good, but the sauce was quite thin which made it a little difficult to eat and I did find two small bones in my dish. Next time I'm probably going to try the carbonara. It's new on the menu and I'm looking forward to their interpretation. No review of La Jolla Groves would be complete without talking about dessert so let me jump right to it and tell you to try the lemon cake (you'll thank me later). read more

This for 3 years was our (wife and I) favorite spot in Utah County. The last 3-4 times though have been very disappointing. Its been years and their menu doesn't change. They have the same menu items now, as they did when we first went years ago. The only change is valentines day they had some special items, but even then it wasn't special. Wife ordered the carbonara last night, and there was no flavor. it was very bland. That has to be hard to do on a carbonara. I had the steak salad, as we've had everything on the menu. The salmon, the filet ($70 btw, and not worth it), Lemon Chicken. The salad had maybe 5 pieces of steak, the rest was mixed greens. Salad was $26. I don't mind spending money on food, but when it is worth it. Their wine menu is the same from 3 years ago... I just hate it when the food comes out cold, bland, with no real attention to detail. The creme brûlée does need to be made ahead of time and then refrigerated, yes... BUT they totally can add the sugar topping and then do the brûlée before it goes to the table. They honestly had to have prepped hundreds of those and then stuck them in the fridge. I could taste fridge in the burnt bitter sugar topping. Fine dining should be just that. Fine dining. Not being rushed by staff, food coming out cold (unless intended that way), served wine the proper way, have a better wine selection. This is just an expensive version of OG honestly. Less pasta, but probably the same cooking staff. Go to Pizzeria 712, Communal, Station 22, The Block, or Black Sheep Cafe and get a better experience with the food. I'd love to come back, but I will be waiting for them to change their menu and possibly the head chef to give a care in this world, to do so. The way it is currently I can't support it. read more

The service was excellent and the food was superb! We were a little worried about the prices but after the first bite realized we were getting a bargain. Where do I even start! This place is amazing! I was visiting from California and wanted to try a classier place for dinner and this place was beyond great. Our server was awesome and recommended a few food items. We went with the tomato soup and the French onion soup to start,, my goodness it was amazing! Then our server came out with pallet cleansers for our main coarse and those were amazing as well it was a raspberry sorbet thing, my boyfriend asked for another it was that good haha wanted to take a box to go. For our main Coarse we went with the salmon plate, it had the perfect amount of flavoring it was delicious! And for our dessert we had the cheese cake and chocolate lava cake, Amazingness! The food is reasonably priced and good quality. It isn't gourmet, but it is very good. Portions are relatively petite. I had the crusted salmon on basmati rice and vegetables, and my wife had the chicken Alfredo pasta. Both were very good. The citrus creme brûlée was slightly tangy with the obligatory sugar crust on top, and the cream lemon cake was slightly tart without being too sweet and exquisitely presented. The service was friendly, and the decor is very nice. It feels upscale, with table linens and a portion of the restaurant with a lemon grove inside. They also have a windowed veranda that looks out onto the pavilion stage where they often have live music performances in the evening. It's a good place to take a date for a nice evening. read more

I don't know what La Jolla groves has done but they changed up their menu and it's absolutely spectacular. I used to think it was just okay for the price. But, they have outdone their selves. I do miss the caprese salad, but everYthing else on the menu made up for it. I even had to DoorDash some this week because I was craving it so much. They're really good about getting you in and seating you when you walk in without a reservation and the service is really good. The PRETZEL. I was hesitant, but it was...so good. It's fluffy and moist and the cheese dip was so good too. The lemon chicken was delicious. I am not a huge fan of the carrots but the rest of it is so good that it doesn't even matter. Location is great because it's at Riverwoods, and I will definitely be returning again as much as I possibly can. Also I got an email this morning from the owner encouraging us to support small businesses in the area and even gave a list of them in lieu of the coronavirus scares since smaller businesses are at a higher risk of financial strains right now.
