Sooooo, my experience here was so underwhelming that I didn't even take photos. We bought a beer-battered shrimp burrito and one with fish and shrimp. Added "light" rice to both. Plus, the fish & shrimp ceviche. Let's just say the chips were the only thing we finished. Our ceviche looked nothing like the pics here on Yelp from 2-3 years ago. It was a container of whole small shrimp, big pieces of onion & 4 slices of avocado in lime juice & hot sauce. (Thrown together, to say the least.) There was no way any of it would fit on a chip! We literally threw it in a blender to see if we could chop it up some. (Don't do that.) The burrito was dry with no cabbage. The shrimp in the burrito were really just tiny pieces of small shrimp cut in half or thirds, then slathered in a ridiculous amount of batter & fried until nearly burnt. The taste was bad. read more

Absolute favorite spot for my wife and I. The food is always fantastic and we are always greeted with a smile. The Aguachile is my wife's go-to every time. I love the fish tacos and the grilled shrimp bowl. Okay, so I tried this place just earlier today with my family, when checking out the little fair going on outside. I had the grilled fish tacos and they had a strong odor and a weird bitter taste to them. I had multiple bites (hope that doesn't come back to haunt me, praying they were fine and we don't get sick(my dad tried some as well) the reviews were like 4.3 stars on yelp and 4.6 stars on google reviews. I decided to go to the Hillcrest Farmers Market and while walking around, I'm a big salsa and dip kinda guy so I'm always keeping an eye out for new salsas, I stumbled across Nick and the La Isla stand. Nick was super friendly and welcoming and helped answer all of my questions cause i never had aguachiles before and also was curious about his personal fave at the stand. He pointed to a green salsa which I picked up and I was a little iffy on if I'd like the aguachile or not but during the purchase, another customer came up and just wanted to rave about it so I decided to try it...... Both salsa containers were overflowing with salsa (if you consider agua as a salsa) so 10/10 on that, and oh my gosh, it was so friggen good. I came here for one reason and it was for the ceviche. I am always hoping to re create my favorite ceviche from Cancun. I chose the white fish vs shrimp . And it was AMAZING!! Fresh and tender and lemon juice based vs tomato ( which I refuse to have) That is the first question I asked. It was delicious and generous in size. It comes with chips, which were very good too. What a great environment! The vibe was awesome, with community tables and music playing. Batman who took our order, was great in explaining the dishes we were interested in. We decided on Beer Batter Tacos, Agua Chiles, and Shrimp tostada. I always like to try the rice and beans and places. It can say a lot. The rice is a white rice cilantro and lime that complemented those delicious beans!! The Agua Chile did not need any extra spice. My husband loved it. Shrimp tostada had a ton of shrimp and my beer battered tacos! Those were amazing!! Love that we finally found a place to have good seafood without having to head down south. Came in for the 1st time yesterday and omg I'm so glad I did . It's located In a cute little area with other food places and outdoor seating is available at the picnic benches across the way . So far I've only tried the shrimp ceviche but I'm going back tomorrow to get some more and to try something new . The ceviche is incredible , so much flavor . Don't let the grab and go set up of this restaurant fool you, this is fine Mexican cuisine. (FYI: There are other food vendors in this building and plenty of picnic tables inside and out.) Stymied by the local wineries requiring reservations, we headed here after looking at the rave reviews.. We were not disappointed.. We ordered the appetizer Coctel, fish tacos with sea bass, salsa, guacamole and chips. The quality of the food was amazing. The coctel had very fresh seafood in large quantities: huge shrimp and octopus. It's an appetizer large enough for two, or a meal on its own, served with lots of saltines for dipping. The fish tacos were overfilled with lots of tender sea bass and the seasoning was just right. If you usually get 2-3 street tacos, one of these is more than enough. The salsa was so fresh, it will ruin you for any jarred salsa in the future. We usually like medium or hot salsa, but this mild salsa was to die for. The guacamole was thick, with lots of chunky avocado and we both agreed it was better than my own homemade guac. The service was friendly and our order took about 15 minutes and everything was cooked to order and really hot. We grabbed a few margaritas from the bar a few steps away and sat outside to listen to the live music. It was a really great meal, and we both were surprised at the huge amount of seafood we received for around $45. Highly recommend this place. If we are in the area, we will be back! read more

Yummz Shrimp aguachile was flavorful yet, very approachable. In the past when I have ordered an aguachile it was intense spiciness, this was so much more toned down to what I am used to. I really appreciated that Strawberry agua fresca- it was thick in the best way possible (not watered down).
