Sooooo, my experience here was so underwhelming that I didn't even take photos. We bought a beer-battered shrimp burrito and one with fish and shrimp. Added "light" rice to both. Plus, the fish & shrimp ceviche. Let's just say the chips were the only thing we finished. Our ceviche looked nothing like the pics here on Yelp from 2-3 years ago. It was a container of whole small shrimp, big pieces of onion & 4 slices of avocado in lime juice & hot sauce. (Thrown together, to say the least.) There was no way any of it would fit on a chip! We literally threw it in a blender to see if we could chop it up some. (Don't do that.) The burrito was dry with no cabbage. The shrimp in the burrito were really just tiny pieces of small shrimp cut in half or thirds, then slathered in a ridiculous amount of batter & fried until nearly burnt. The taste was bad. read more

First time here and was really happy I came here. The blue fin tuna fish tacos were really good. If you're a fan of blue fin tuna I would def give it a try. The Shrimp ceviche was good also. Will come back for sure and try the shrimp taco since my friend said it was good. read more

There's two things Big Nick don't do! 1.Disappoint & 2.Send you home hungry. We got the shrimp ceviche, beer battered fish taco, & popcorn shrimp for the little one. Also the pineapple agua fresca. Bomb! We lived in San Marcos throughout college & always went to this one Moriscos truck. Moving here there's been nothing that compares. TIL NOW! The ceviche was the perfect blend of spice & acidic! There's no skimping on the shrimp! The juices from the ceviche was drink worthy. Okay now... the beer battered fish taco was FIRE! One taco alone was plenty for me. & if you saw me licking my plate, no you didn't! The pineapple agua fresca was very refreshing & honestly should've gotten two because my toddler downed it almost all on her own. My daughter, a grazing 3 year old ate the entirety of her popcorn shrimp. Not leaving a single bite without a double thumbs up. A must visit & a definite return! read more

Food looks great on the outside. And then when you dig into their famous beer battered fish, this is the fish you get - over fried fish. So instead of enjoying a good taco, all I could taste is burnt food. Is this what people enjoy eating? read more

Absolute favorite spot for my wife and I. The food is always fantastic and we are always greeted with a smile. The Aguachile is my wife's go-to every time. I love the fish tacos and the grilled shrimp bowl. This is a great family owned restaurant. 7's Ranch Taqueria and The Smok'd Hog BBQ are also good and in the same building within Vail Headquarters, so you can satisfy everyone if they each want something different. read more

Ate here during Ramble on the Ranch and cannot complain! Great prices, great food! The fish taco was good but the shrimp was amazing! So flavorful, great sauce and huge portions on both tacos. We also had a order of shrimp ceviche that was great too. Wish it wasn't so far from home, I'd come more often! read more

Okay, so I tried this place just earlier today with my family, when checking out the little fair going on outside. I had the grilled fish tacos and they had a strong odor and a weird bitter taste to them. I had multiple bites (hope that doesn't come back to haunt me, praying they were fine and we don't get sick(my dad tried some as well) the reviews were like 4.3 stars on yelp and 4.6 stars on google reviews. I don't know what was wrong with the fish tacos but something was off. Wasn't able to finish the food. I can't give an opinion on the other food options here but yeah, the experience I had wasn't the greatest. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! For five tacos, 4 sodas, ceviche and nachos it was $105. Went back to the table to check the receipt... 8 bucks a soda!!!! $32 for 4 sodas! They were warm! It took 20 minutes just to get a refund. There were only three people in line a head of me! They lost our buzzer number and when the tacos came they were lacking in flavor. The ceviche was okay. I wouldn't come back. read more

I decided to go to the Hillcrest Farmers Market and while walking around, I'm a big salsa and dip kinda guy so I'm always keeping an eye out for new salsas, I stumbled across Nick and the La Isla stand. Nick was super friendly and welcoming and helped answer all of my questions cause i never had aguachiles before and also was curious about his personal fave at the stand. He pointed to a green salsa which I picked up and I was a little iffy on if I'd like the aguachile or not but during the purchase, another customer came up and just wanted to rave about it so I decided to try it...... Both salsa containers were overflowing with salsa (if you consider agua as a salsa) so 10/10 on that, and oh my gosh, it was so friggen good. Personality was a 10/10 Flavor was a 10/10 Pricing seemed very reasonable for what you get and the quality of it 10/10 Will be returning to the stand whenever I need more salsa He also had some fish ceviche I wanted to try so I think I'll be trying that next also read more

I came here for one reason and it was for the ceviche. I am always hoping to re create my favorite ceviche from Cancun. I chose the white fish vs shrimp . And it was AMAZING!! Fresh and tender and lemon juice based vs tomato ( which I refuse to have) That is the first question I asked. It was delicious and generous in size. It comes with chips, which were very good too. Thin style which I prefer. This is Authentic, delicious fresh Ceviche! I'm so glad it's local. If it wasn't I would still drive just for this. See my photos. You can tell it's fresh. Mouthwatering good! Yum!! Also the first restaurant in 6 months that I ate inside! Wow, today was a big day for my lil' soul read more

What a great environment! The vibe was awesome, with community tables and music playing. Batman who took our order, was great in explaining the dishes we were interested in. We decided on Beer Batter Tacos, Agua Chiles, and Shrimp tostada. I always like to try the rice and beans and places. It can say a lot. The rice is a white rice cilantro and lime that complemented those delicious beans!! The Agua Chile did not need any extra spice. My husband loved it. Shrimp tostada had a ton of shrimp and my beer battered tacos! Those were amazing!! Love that we finally found a place to have good seafood without having to head down south. Thank you Carla "BatMan". We will be back, soon! With friends!! read more

Stopped in today to try this place! My 13 year old loves herself some shrimp! So she ordered the shrimp quesadilla and it came with a side of rice. First of all, the portion size was HUGE! The amount of shrimp that was stuffed into those pieces of quesadilla was crazy! Shrimp was bursting out the sides of it! Melty cheese! She said the rice was good too, she really enjoys white rice but this has a light flavor which was good because the quesadilla's flavor was OFF THE CHAIN! She is already planning what she is going to try when we visit next! I'm dying to try their beer battered fish tacos! read more

Don't let the grab and go set up of this restaurant fool you, this is fine Mexican cuisine. (FYI: There are other food vendors in this building and plenty of picnic tables inside and out.) Stymied by the local wineries requiring reservations, we headed here after looking at the rave reviews.. We were not disappointed.. We ordered the appetizer Coctel, fish tacos with sea bass, salsa, guacamole and chips. The quality of the food was amazing. The coctel had very fresh seafood in large quantities: huge shrimp and octopus. It's an appetizer large enough for two, or a meal on its own, served with lots of saltines for dipping. The fish tacos were overfilled with lots of tender sea bass and the seasoning was just right. If you usually get 2-3 street tacos, one of these is more than enough. The salsa was so fresh, it will ruin you for any jarred salsa in the future. We usually like medium or hot salsa, but this mild salsa was to die for. The guacamole was thick, with lots of chunky avocado and we both agreed it was better than my own homemade guac. The service was friendly and our order took about 15 minutes and everything was cooked to order and really hot. We grabbed a few margaritas from the bar a few steps away and sat outside to listen to the live music. It was a really great meal, and we both were surprised at the huge amount of seafood we received for around $45. Highly recommend this place. If we are in the area, we will be back! read more

So delicious! This place is great. The customer service is on point. We ordered the fish tacos: let's just say when you order a fish taco for 6$ you order a fish taco. It's huge. Fresh, and lightly battered, topped with cabbage mix, and sauce. The ceviche was tasty! We ordered the shrimp ceviche, along with the shrimp and octopus spicy ceviche. Both has great flavor, and very fresh. Homemade guacamole, and salad were both delicious as well. We also ordered the cucumber mint Fresca which was refreshing and again delicious. I would recommended this place to anyone looking for a light but delicious meal. read more

From the Agua Chiles, to the Ceviche. Fresh curated seafood is always the best. I gotta tip my hat to this place. Very HOMESTYLE like welcoming. I love that its family owned, and they take the time to go into detail about the intricacy of how they make the traditional dishes. I got ceviche with shrimp and fish. bomb.com !! Also, my tastebuds were craving the avacado shooter. Not sure how, but even the Avacodos seem a notch above anywhere ive been in southern cali(and im a huge avocado fan). The Owner Ruffo(i think thats his name) actually brought us our plate. Mannn i dig this place. read more

Yummz Shrimp aguachile was flavorful yet, very approachable. In the past when I have ordered an aguachile it was intense spiciness, this was so much more toned down to what I am used to. I really appreciated that Strawberry agua fresca- it was thick in the best way possible (not watered down). Great strawberry flavor, good balance of sweetness Coctel de camaron was basic but the perfect cooking technique on the shrimp. It was luscious and the flavor could really shine read more
