Fried Plantains
Jack R.

Definitely an interesting experience. Having spent a few weeks traveling around Ecuador I was excited to have a taste of some of the food I've been missing since. I was very disappointed. The fried plantains were very good which is the reason for 2 stars. The steak meal was not good. The steak was overcooked and tough, it tasted lie something I'd reheat in my microwave for a late night snack. The rice was sticky and didn't taste fresh. The fries were ok but I'm not sure why they came topped with eggs. The side salad was just packaged coleslaw mix with some sort of dressing that tastes like lite mayo. The red sauce on the side was very water and tasted like Walmart brand salsa. The Inca cola was Intersting to try, I was not a fan of it but my dinner guest loved it.

If your looking for great Latino specifically Ecuadoran food you are at the right spot!! A good friend came from Ecuador and he's been missing his home town food. We found this spot and it has been amazing. The service is outstanding so friendly and warm Hispanic run restaurant and staff speak English as well. Don't feel afraid to not stop by because of your language barrier!! My friend says this is most authentic food. His favorite and very traditional food choice is "Sopa Marinera" ( it's a big dish!) And my favorite dish is the Ecuadorian bandera. The background music is also very fun makes you wanna dance. They have beers and juices! Please give them a try! They know how to treat you right and the food is amazing!

Encebollado mixto & camarones empanados - A bowl of shrimp soup with a clear broth, shrimp, and sliced red onions on top is placed on a table. A glass of pink-colored drink is beside the bowl. In the background, a plate contains fried chicken pieces, plantains, and a small salad with lettuce and tomatoes. The setting appears to be a restaurant table with a pink napkin underneath the soup bowl.

We have been talking about trying this place since it opened and I'm so happy to say we finally did! The food was amazing and certainly not at all cold as stated in the below reviews. My "jugo de mora" was delicious and the coffees we got afterwards were great. My fiancé ate every crumb on his plate. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. Our waitress was great; she was attentive and very friendly. We are just dying to come back and try everything else in the menu! ***Comment regarding the previous review : Please note that this is an Ecuadorian restaurant and Gallo is Colombian, comparing the two is silly. Every restaurant has its style so if you expect one thing and one thing only, stick to that. Latin food varies by country so always ask how it's made (example: Mexican ceviche vs Ecuadorian ceviche). Also, when you order for catering you should always ask how many people it will serve.

If she meaning "the owner" used mozzarella... Mozzarella isn't supposed to do that!! Do they even know what mozzarella is ? - Two hands are holding fried empanadas over aluminum containers filled with liquid, with more empanadas visible on the table. The scene appears to be a casual dining setting, possibly at a restaurant or takeout meal, with additional empanadas in a plastic container and a plastic lid nearby. The focus is on the empanadas and the hands handling them, with a dark table surface and some other food items in the background.

If there was an option for NO STARS! I would definitely click on it ..We ordered empanadas With cheese, we did about 30 of them, sad part no cheese was added! Will be sharing a picture & for the amount we paid was ridiculous.. we also did a Picada , they charged was almost $30 with tax... came out to a total of $90.00 For the amount paid we could have gotten a much better service of food. Picadas aren't supposed to be small... I would have ordered from Gallo for a $25.00 & gotten a much bigger & more food! We called & spoke to owner, she was not understanding!! She gave us an excuse how she did the empanadas, using mozzarella cheese & that reason why there isn't cheese it's because it gets cold. We 1000% do not recommend this Restaurant for not great customer service or food!

Empanada with no cheese - The image shows a partially eaten empanada with no cheese filling, held in a person's hand. The empanada has a golden-brown crust and appears to be freshly baked. The interior is empty, indicating it was eaten or broken open. The background is blurred, with a person's arm and clothing visible, suggesting a casual setting.

I honestly love gallo. I'm just not sure that I love myself…read morevery much.... You might think that sounds dark n deep, and maybe sure but... I always seem to punish myself. I always say I'm gnna get extra chicharrones to go home with, but I fail; let me tell you, from this point on, I'm getting the perfect order, combo fajitas supreme with the chicken steak and shrimp, and adding chicharones, not only for when I'm there, but an extra to thrown on top of my leftovers! Because believe me, letting that green sauce soak into the rice with the beans, the peppers and onions, letting all that meld together and still having that crunchy, fatty, melt in your mouth pork rinds.... Bruh next level no cap legit fire and all the other words I'm too old to be saying. phew. Why do I always punish myself!? Yelp therapist I need to know! I liked my salad too, I'm not just suckin on fried pork fat for the record. Wait... chicharrones on a side salad sounds amazing... You know I'm a mountain platter man because it's a great deal, but I gotta tell you, the splurge doing it this way is the ultimate, little bit of everything, indulgence we all deserve!! It even comes with fresh half fried queso on top which I didn't even realize until I got home and cracked open the container... I'm ecstatic and stuffed and remember why I keep coming back (besides trying to find a wife)

I have been going to Gallo for many years and have never been disappointed until I went on March…read more16, 2026. Most of the food was a disgrace. I had a visitor in from Oklahoma and thought he would enjoy the food. We were a party of 5. I was literally surprised by the quality of the food and really disappointed. We ordered Nachos as a appetizer and when it came it looked empty. No seasoning on the chicken barely any cheese or salsa on them. ( picture included) one person ordered a quesadilla with shrimp. It was very flat and she opened it and the shrimp was squashed into a ball, barely any cheese and she sent it back before I had a chance to take a picture. They took it off the bill. We ordered a medium skirt steak that was supposed to be marinated but it wasn't and looked so unappealing but he ate it anyway. I ordered the tropical plater which is a favorite of mine. The steak was disgusting( picture attached) The only dish that came out ok was the steak fajitas. We also had 4 cocktails. Our waitress was really nice and did her best. I truly hope this is a fluke but felt the owner of this business should be aware. I never minded the cost of the food because you knew the food would be delicious. This time we paid $178.35 for a horrible experience at Gallo's in Patchogue, NY

Amazing! Came here for my mom's birthday. We arrived at 7pm and parked in the parking lot next to…read morethe library in the back. There were signs saying there was metered parking. But the metered parking machine wasn't working. A local told us we didn't have to pay. We walked inside and was greeted by a friendly server. The table was already set for us, and she brought out menus for us. They gave us water in plastic cups. (I think this restaurant is mostly popular for its take out service more than its dine in service. While there was only 3 other tables seated besides us, their counter was overflowing with takeout orders. We ordered the Pollo a La Brasa, choritos a la chalaca, choclo con queso fresco, chicha morado, frijoles, and arroz amarillo. They took our order and gave us puffed corn, and some kind of cream salsa verde sauce for the table. The chicha morado was good, sweet and slightly spiced from the cinnamon it was refreshing, light and sweet. First came the mussels, they were topped with a salsa, lime juice and corn. They were overcooked and dry. I don't think people normally order the mussels, so I don't think the chef knew how to prepare it properly. Then came the rice and the roast chicken. The yellow rice was so flavorful, fluffy, and good. The roast chicken was amazing. Very flavorful, and the meat fell right off the bones. Then came the beans, and corn appetizer. The corn appetizer was kind of weird. It was just slightly warm corn with small logs of cheese on the side. I was expecting like a roasted corn with fresh cheese crumbled on top with spices. There was very enthusiastic Latino music playing from the TV the whole time. The whole place felt fun and inviting. It was pretty casual, and the waitresses were friendly and kind. They were decorated for Halloween with decorations, and orange lights lighting up the walls. I think next time we'll just stick to the chicken, beans, and rice. They were very nice in letting us being our own birthday cake as well. They gave us small plates, and forks and knives. They gave us plastic utensils. I guess they didn't have small dessert forks. Overall wonderful experience. Just don't order something atypical I guess.
