    Smelly beans

Just wanted to share a bad experience with this place. This morning I went to La Espiga Dorada Bakery to pick up some canned beans and cream for breakfast. When I got home I started cooking the beans and noticed there was a foul smell. I proceeded to cook the beans and I was making the rest of our breakfast when I noticed they started smelling more. I honestly thought I was going crazy so I tasted them and OMG it was horrible. It tasted like sour milk. At this point I'm upset because I've spent $12.00 on literally 2 items ($6.50 for the canned beans and $5.50 for the cream). I'm not one to complain, I would've let this go but I'm out $6.50 for CANNED BEANS and my kids were looking forward to this. So I call the bakery and explain the situation, tell them exactly how it happened and I asked if I could have a refund or get a new can. They asked if they were expired and I said no (see pic) and the lady puts me on hold. She comes back and said her boss told her they can't do anything about it because I already cooked them and I should've taken them in as soon as I noticed something. I explain again that when I opened the can they looked fine, it wasn't until I started cooking them that I noticed the smell. She placed me on hold again, this time for almost 5 minutes and said that I can only get a partial refund and said I should've taken them, AGAIN. I told her I still have the can, the beans are still in the pot, I can take them like that if they want, at this point I just want my money back. Plus, what's the point of me taking them back after I opened them, were they just gonna put it back on the shelf?! Anyway, she puts me on hold again, comes back and tells me the same thing and said her boss told her that winco, Fred Meyer, and Walmart would've done the same thing (?!??!?!!!) I asked to speak with her boss she said she's not available and that I can't!! After a bunch of back and forth she finally agreed to give me a refund. I'm just so upset that I had to go through all this, get riled up, just to get my $6.50 for a can of rotten beans. This should've been handled better. We literally just spent over $30 on their bread this week for thanksgiving and this is how they treat their customers?! I won't be going back here after this experience.

I recently ordered a three leches cake from, and it was an absolute delight! the taste and quality of the cake completely stole the show. The three leches were perfectly moist, and each bite was a heavenly experience. The combination of flavors was superb, and the texture was just right. The fact that they utilized Amazon for the toppers didn't compromise the overall deliciousness of the cake. It's clear that prioritizes the quality of their baked goods, making this a memorable treat. I ordered the cake 2 days before and the service was above and beyond highly recommend trying their three leches cake; it's a true testament to their baking expertise! PS. The cake topper was from amazon but you can have them design it :)

This bakery is located on the block of TV Hwy and 185th, i passed it many times and didn't think much of it. Finally i decided to check it out and i was amazed! When you enter, you'll be greeted by shelves of freshly bake pastries, cookies and cakes! They all looked beautifully delicious, and there were so many selections. I was so excited that I tried to grab one of each, only to realized the tray (and my stomach) wasn't big enough... I left with a bunch goodies, and my favorites were the conchas breads (so soft and moist), guava coconut cake (the softness of the cake and the favor was amazing), and the apple pie (the crust was so flaky and crunchy). I also like their donuts, too. They are fresh and not too sweet. Overall, if you like pastries and haven't check this place out. You should pay a visit soon. You'll be pleasantly surprised by its selection and reason

I tried one of the rolls--I don't know what it's called, but it has a cinnamon crust on top. The roll tasted weird, it was either stale or wasn't baked with enough salt, very flavorless.

    3. 5 stars: Small store with two aisles of food and a section of freshly baked goods that tasted fresh. I don't like the $5.00 credit and debit card minimum purchase because they prefer cash which I don't carry. I also do not like the minimum special order of two dozen for special orders. I think they could also be friendlier because I wasn't greeted when I approached the register. There's only one active register too so the line was long. I like that they have a parking lot even if it is small. I don't like the dangerous intersection it is located at though because I have seen lots of wrecks there.

I have been craving pan dulce so I did a quick search and found La Espiga Dorada. I took my little daughter there and I think it blew her mind. We got a little bit of everything because EVERYTHING LOOKED DELICIOUS! It tasted delicious too! The place was super cute and very clean. I will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely delicious panadería bread! So far out of three panaderías I've tried west of the river, I finally found the best one, very similar to California and even Mexican panaderías. They also make beautiful and affordable custom cakes. Will give them a try for my daughter 2nd birthday. I got the bolillo bread today (Saturday) and it was fresh and delicious, I made homemade carnitas tortas, so yummy!!!

I added breakfast to this place while they visited me for a few days. We called in our order as instructed on the website. Unfortunately no Boba was available for on the pancakes. When we arrived I was disheartened to find the place rather small either intense heat of a bakery, which made the lone table inside with a meandering fly the least bit welcoming. When adding drinks to our order, the lone man working there asked me a few times whether I really was ordering coffee for a child (and yes, she settled on a mocha when it was determined he only knew how to sprinkle matcha powder on the pancakes, and hadn't a clue as to their application to drinks). My grandson ordered their 'special hot chocolate' which pretty much tasted like watered-down Ovaltine. We sat outside to eat and after a few bites and finding these were nothing like the fluffy Japanese pancakes they'd expected, we threw away $44 worth of what was supposed to be a pleasant breakfast experience. I guess this was a life lesson for the kids, that our expectations aren't always met. And I want to prevent any other adults from making the same mistake I did in taking my business there!

I thought we'd go there for some to-go, and hubby found a parking spot, just around the corner, in the shade. As he was turning right, I also spotted a 'bakery' written on the window. I was thinking of waiting for him, in the car, and just grab a chicken sandwich. But, after he left, I decided to go inside the bakery to browse. He was standing at the corner, reading the menu of the shop, when I called him to 'Come over here!' I didn't know what I just walked in. Ooddles & oodles of cookies, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, like a one-stop bakery, cafe to-go. I started to take a video, of the whole shop, but sadly, as I turned it off, I realized I was just turning it ON! Instead of buying one sandwich for each of us, we ended up buying 4 of our 'look scrumptious' pastries that could fill us up. (Photos are not good quality, because I thought I was video-taping it. That's the result!) We each shared everything! We both agreed, it was probably one of the best lunches we've eaten. The pastry were still warm, the cheese in our ham was melting in your mouth. The spinach was just out of the oven. Everything was just wonderful! We will surely stop by here again, and buy twice as much, should last us a week. But maybe at the end of the day they don't look towards the door or maybe the tea was just too good to stop chatting about. Either way, hope they get trained to know when customers are lined up and ready to buy that they should try to get them taken care of so that lines don't form behind them.

The fact that you responded in that way to a very detailed review asking me to email 'details' of my experience shows just how little this company cares. You just post these 'oh sorry we fell short' responses and never follow up. My review did explicitly detail the issues and frankly I have spent way too much of my time already trying to get a response to the disappointment in a shop I have spent a lot of money in! Let's face it, your pastries are not inexpensive. But that's not really the point, as I am never concerned with price if it is something I enjoy. The point is the all around disrespect and the total lack of customer service. I left, as I said, 3 messages, and no one felt compelled to reach out to address or apologize for ANY of the issues I detailed, from the smashed, ill-packaged pastry to the fact that not one employee in all the times I was in there spending money since that location opened ever mentioning a rewards program- ever. I would have to say, I am still trying to figure out how to use Japanese loaf bread, in contrast to Italian or French bread. I grew up in a family of whole wheat bread. When I toast the thin-sliced Japanese bread, the inside is not done. So I'm experimenting with a short microwave after toasting. I'm also looking at what to put on Japanese bread toast. The staff is customer-oriented, parking is vast and they are near the Tualatin Parks and Rec facility to burn calories before or after. Unique, friendly, community, cool.
