La Especial Bakery is open for business on weekends. Great food ! Their enchiladas, burritos, and tamales are delicious!

I had the enchilada combo. It came with 3 enchiladas with sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes, and rice & beans. It was very delicious! The chips very fresh and hot and the salsa had the perfect kick. The ambience is very casual with friendly workers.

You want authentic Mexican food that's a great price point AND beyond good? If you answered yes to any and/or all of the above then this spot is waiting for you. Love coming to this spot when I'm in town and met the owner once who quickly made friends and went on to talk about how proud and good his food is. I've had their tacos to their burritos to their tamales...all are incredible, can't recommend this spot enough. Legit of the legit for Mexican food in and around Ventura/Oxnard.

I love their food! After a while of getting breakfast burritos and pancakes, I started getting different breakfast items. Their super croissant and breakfast burger are delicious!!! They both have a type of sauce that complements the food. If you are ordering to go, I would recommend calling ahead since it can get busy. The staff os friendly and try to get your food out asap.

Driving on PCH we got hungry and we found this off the beaten path place in Port Hueneme. We haven't had breakfast but it's close to lunchtime so we stopped at this place. I had their pancakes and a side of machaca and machaca burrito. The pancakes a bit heavy but really good. We had the green, red and habanero salsa. Habanero salsa super hot but flavorful. I couldn't stop pouting it on my food even though my mouth was on fire. The flour tortillas were soft and you can tell It's homemade. Alex not sure if he's the owner, was very nice and helpful. He came by to check up on us. We told him if we live near we would come by more to try the rest of the dishes. We heard the tamales are really good. But we're stuff so we didn't order it. After we paid he came with three tamales for us to take home to try. What an awesome customer service. I'm not writing this because of that. I want you to try this place when you're in the area and looking for authentic good food. I really enjoyed it.

We came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We each ordered a cocktail. She got a blueberry margarita and I got a cucumber gin mixed drink. Both were refreshing and delicious. We ended up ordering another round. For appetizers we ordered the crispy maple Brussels and tuna & salmon tartare. The Brussels were fried to perfection and glazed a sweet maple syrup. It also came with thick cuts of bacon. Definitely recommend this. For the tartare, it was also delicious and fresh. It was mixed with avocado and turnip. We thought the turnip would be off putting but it actually meshed well with the flavors. Came with fried wonton chips. For the main course we shared the NY strip and Lobster Malfaldine. The steak was cooked to perfection with a very nice sear and flavored well. Probably one of the better steaks I've ever had. Definitely beats out any steakhouse steak. The Lobster Malfaldine was also absolutely delicious. Most of the time, lobster pasta is usually a bit bland and lacking in lobster. NOT HERE. They included big chunks of lobster and the sauce was so good. Lastly, we ended our dinner with the Strawberry Hand Pie. This is basically a warm strawberry strudel with vanilla bean ice cream. They used locally sourced strawberries and I'm still thinking about it as I'm writing this review. Adrienne was our server and she was very nice and attentive. Since it was my girlfriend's birthday, they comped our dessert. Super nice staff!

I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, but we always love to sit outside so that we have a really good view of the aircraft coming and going. I tried the BLT and, oh my!!! One of the best I've had, with lots of thick cut bacon, very crisp, lots of lettuce, tomato and mayo (I ordered it as-is). Half was the size of a regular sandwich so the other half went home with me! RRR ordered the triple decker club on sourdough and loved his as well. Half of his went home also. We both got the cole slaw as our side which has a little pineapple in it. I found it ok, RRR really liked it. We shared a special milkshake, pistachio, and it was heavenly, highly recommended. Service was perfect, there when needed but not overbearing. We so appreciate well-trained staff! Highly recommended.

Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular…read morethey are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.

As a vegan, I was prepared to accept my usual limited selection at a real Mexican restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a few unique options other than fruit & potatoes. Covered in a green chile salsa that had the perfect kick of heat, and I ordered a side of tortillas to make my own tacos. Yum! Bonus points for my refreshing margarita w/ that good crunch ice (iykyk) & hubby's bottomless mimosa w/ choice of juice (he went w/ cranberry). Waitresses try their best but seem stretched too thin to be very attentive. You are made to use Cakes online ordering and wait list program which is less than ideal because of their slow WiFi. While waiting for a table you are updated on your place in line. On our last visit we waited as next to be seated for 20 minutes as multiple large parties showed up late and were seated immediately. We were told they were friends of the owner and there's nothing they could do but the staff hates it- for what that's worth. Today my Avocado toast left much to be desired. Sourdough tastes like dry thin sliced white bread. Small amount of smashed Avocado; not enough to cover the bread topped with less than fresh pico da gallo, arugula a balsamic drizzle and 3 slices of tomato that were marinated in Italian dressing. All things I like but the combination was not good. BLTA used the same disappointing bread, flaccid under cooked bacon a tiny amount of pesto aioli and more avocado then there was on the avocado toast. Kids mini pancakes were good but chocolate chips are $1 up charge. I will say yesterday's eggs Benedict was good- hollandaise is excellent. Breakfast potatoes were a bit undercooked. Bloody Mary was a bit weak in my opinion. After all of that- I got a look at the receipt and there is a 2% BOH RevShare added to the bill. My best guess is this is fee to help pay the kitchen- To be honest we went here because it was a short walk from the Hilton. After the poor service, bad quality and hidden fees- we would be better off eating on the resort.
