Overall: Underrated Pho at a great price. Hot & Sour Pho is one of my favorites and Beignet fries with condensed milk is addicting. This is a no frills, pay at the front, bus your own table, condiments at the counter type of establishment. LA Pho 4 of 5. Its not the best in town but for a hot bowl and at this price, it just can't be beat. I paid less than $8 for a Pho Dac Biet (aka Pho Deluxe or Pho Special with everything). The noodles were perfectly cooked and the meat was fresh and tender. Many places you'll find the noodles off, the meat dry or overcooked, and the broth trying too hard to be unique. If you want good standard bowl of pho on the cheap and to be able to get in and out fast, this is your spot. Hot & Sour Pho 5 of 5. Its one of kind. I love Thai style hot and sour soup and I love Pho. When I heard about this, they combined two of my favorite things and made it delicious. Hot and Sour soup is generally sipped on at a Thai restaurant, too overpowering as an entree but they've toned it down, added some depth, and created a great fusion food. Beignet Fries 5 of 5. I've had Crescent City and Chez Beignet but their take on Beignets are to die for. These are the addicting crack of the Beignet world. When cut into fries you get less fluffy sponge and more french fry crunch. Topped with your typical powdered sugar and drizzled with condensed milk they add a sweet richness to an already great dessert. read more

Loved it! Definitely one of the best places for crawfish in Houston! Crawfish - We got 6 lbs total of garlic butter and Cajun crawfish (4 & 2) for 2 people, so stuffed after but also very happy and satisfied :) I like the Cajun more because it's more juicy and flavorful, hubby loved the garlic butter more, which also seems to be the favorite for most people. Price - $6.99/ lb (February), not cheap but meaty and juicy, I hope it will be cheaper and bigger when in season. I'm totally displeased with the quality of food that was served. First off, the crawfish were frozen and reheated. If you guys can't keep a freah supply of crawfish maybe you need to shut down or change your name it LA Seafood so you don't have to uphold the thought of live crawfish. March 3, 2013: Small-Large crawfish $5.99 per pound. They mean it when they say extra spicy. Don't get offended if you order extra spicy and they confirm that you REALLY want spicy. My husband was sweating while eating these mud bugs, but he was a happy Mexican. Next time, I think I'll go for just regular spicy. I also tried the crawfish empanadas and LOVED them. I really needed this doughy pastry to mingle in my belly with all the spice. We also fell in love with the jalepeno pepper wings. This flavor of wings are fried and sauceless, but still full of flavor and very moist meat and served with a few crispy slices of jalepeno. They were sadly out of the beignet fries when we went, but I'll be back to sample these. We got a couple of smaller mushy crawfish in our 2 pound bag, but for the most part, the crawfish were delicious and well cooked. They have many sauces and condiments for your enjoyment including additional cajun spice, limes, siracha, hoisin, ranch, butter, tabasco and limes. I enjoyed dipping my empanadas and wings in hoisin. The staff was friendly and quick. I love that they give you a roll of paper towels and a table cloth and let you keep yourself clean. Not sure if they changed the process of cooking crawfish but definitely will not go back. Absolutely one of the best crawfish joints in Houston for 2011. And for so many reasons... 1) Great price. At 5.99 a lb, it's much better than going to places like boiling crab, ragin cajun, crawfish & noodles, etc. 2) Out of this world flavor. Sometimes, other joints will hold back on garlic and butter, but not here. The bag is packed with garlic and butter. The flavor, especially the level 3 spicy, is almost incomparable. 3) For about 1.50 more, you get a very generous amount of sausage and potato that's been soaking in that delicious sauce I mentioned above. 4) Don't care for crawfish? They also offer other seafood delights along with pho, which is pretty good too. 5) BYOB in a grocery store. Just hit up the beer aisle and grab yourself a cold 6pack for about $7 bucks and enjoy it with pounds upon pounds of crawfish! 6) Any great restaurant knows that it's the little things that make or break you. LA crawfish has great side items for those who just aren't in the mood for crawfish. The wings are delicious, but best of all are their sweet fries. I live in the Spring Branch area, so LA Crawfish is (now was) my go-to place for crawfish. The first time I came here was about 2 years ago, and I'll have to say the quality has diminished year after year. June 27, 2015 marks the last time I'll ever come here (not sure if it's still considered crawfish season, but I had some good crawfish from another joint the week prior). I ordered medium spicy garlic butter, spicy lemon pepper chicken bits, and seasoned fries. The chicken bits and seasoned fries were pretty good. Flavorful and crispy. Exactly they way you would want chicken and fries. However, the reason you come to LA Crawfish is for the "live CRAWFISH." They were tiny and lacked flavor (tasted like it was watered down), and that wasn't even the worst part. The crawfish meat was horrible and tasted like they were serving leftovers from the night prior or frozen/dead. I did NOT have one good tasting crawfish from the 5 pounds I ordered (NOT exaggerating). Paying $6.99/lb, I didn't want to waste it and tried my best to get through it, but couldn't. This marks the first time that I've NEVER finished a crawfish order. I've eaten pounds and pounds of crawfish over the past 6/7 years, and this was definitely the worst batch I've ever had. This could just be a bad experience (quality has gone down each time I've eaten here), but if you have "Crawfish" in your name, you better make sure the crawfish is damn good every time. We live just a couple exits down the SuperSlab from 99 Ranch Market, where LA Crawfish is located, and the wife being Chinese, we are frequent visitors to this locale. She also loves crawfish. Me, I like mudbugs well enough, so that's good enough for us to have become frequent visitors of LA Crawfish. I remember when it first opened thinking that Cajun and Vietnamese was sort of a curious mix, but it isn't really. Both cultures like seafood, and they both like it hot and spicy. Me, I'm a native of these parts, and I was raised eating Cajun and TexMex, so I love spicy food too. And I gotta say that LA Crawfish has got it going with their spicy seasoning, although I'll admit the garlic butter is good too. Don't feel like crawfish? Then try the empenadas or the sweet potato fries or the chicken wings. We've also had their traditional Vietnamese pho (soups), which come in *big* bowls, so they end up being quite a bit to eat. All these items are quite tasty and I can highly recommend them. The fact that this is a BYOB place makes for a nice, relaxing atmosphere to kick back and devour a pound or two of the little red critters and wash 'em down with a couple bottles of your favorite suds, all while keeping the bar tab to a minimum. Far as prices go, apparently LA Crawfish has a lot of other places beat too, with others charging a couple bucks per pound more for theirs. Folks shouldn't get too greedy, I'm sayin'. We try to get here before 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays or the line can get pretty long. The service is fast so even if it is long, the wait isn't terrible. Crawfish: 4/5 It's very good and flavorful. The last time I had medium, it was very mild compared to the other times we've been here. I would recommend medium over spicy because the spicy gets overwhelming after two pounds. SO good and definitely comparable if not better than chain restaurants that specialize in wings. Their flavor is among my favorite in Houston. They are really helpful when it comes to condiments.. I can't say the same about other crawfish places.. Oh and their pho is actually pretty good if youre wondering. Their brisket is some of the best I've had in Houston.. Maybe it was all the hype or the struggling crawfish season this year, but we went tonight and left in disappointment. We ordered 3 lbs of crawfish and it came out before we even sat down. The crawfish was warm (at best), so it wasn't even cooked recently. The size of their crawfish were small and plenty were already dead. We did get the wings (spicy lemon pepper, and 5-spice & basil) and those came out hot. The flavors were unique and pretty good. I live in California, where all the latest crave has been crawfish. I find myself in Texas and the best place to eat crawfish is from LA?! WHY THE HELL NOT? The bf was skeptical because he wanted crawfish "from the south" but after planning our trip for weeks, I WAS DETERMINED! Sadly it was my last day, but my friends still had another day to play so his advice was super helpful to them. I seriously need to come here more often. I've only been here a couple times and those are the exact words I say everytime I leave. Maybe its because of the location that has me only coming here ever so often, either way..this place has become one of my favorite places for crawfish. What makes it more awesome is that it's located in 99 Ranch where I can buy my Korean treats (MELONA BARS!) and baked goods! An important note I want to make about this place is they're not kidding around with their 'spicy' level. I usually order 'spicy' at other crawfish places like no big deal because they never make it as spicy as the word sounds, but when I come here, I'd prefer the 'mild'. Think of it this way, you can most definitely handle 1, 2, or 3, at spicy but after eating about 5 back to back..you start to feel your lips burning and little droplets of sweat forming. Service is really fast which is great since it can get pretty crowded quickly. By service, I meant them calling out your name and handing you the bag of crawfish. They provide a roll of paper towels and condiments where you order so you basically prepare everything yourself, which I think is great so I don't have to wait on anyone. There was a mixture of sizes when it came to the crawfish but still very delicious. The base is a little thick so it really sticks on to the critters. Love the cajun fries as well, not too thick and perfectly crisp! Also tried their garlic wings, which were pretty good. LOVE THIS PLACE. try the Thai Chili Oysters. They are fantastic and do the dozen because believe me, you'll want more. I came twice in a week just for their crawfish and oysters. On a Saturday night, I waited about 1 hour and 45 minutes in line just to get to the cashier and place my order. It was worth it though. Just finish a bowl of their pho with meatballs and round eye. It was seasoned well and had tons of flavor. It reminds me of Tom Yum soup rather than a traditional pho. I've visted LA Crawfish on and off for the last two years and for the most part its consistent in flavor and quality. I've been three times in the last few months and overall i've been pleased. The lines can get preeeetty long, so i highly suggest coming before the dinner rush. You order at the counter, its currently 6.99 a lb for crawfish and you can choose between garlic butter (my personal favorite) and cajun. Add in corn, potatoes and sausage a la carte. The service here is quick and friendly, when your orders ready they call your name out. Crawfish: the garlic butter is my personal favorite and is full of flavor, and i looove that they add in huge globs of garlic. the cajun is decent, but didn't really soak into the crawfish and offer the flavor payout i was hoping for. Sizing wise each time i've been, the crawfish were pretty decent in size, i imagine they'll only get bigger as the crawfish season continues. My most recent visit yielded a large amount of dead crawfish and soft shelled crawfish that weren't edible :( hopefully it was just a bad batch. LA Crawfish also serves shrimp, crabs, fries, wings, oysters & pho. The fries here are crispy and absolutely yummy. I recently tried the thai green chili oysters and wasn't overwhelmed with the flavor, it was just spicy so that was nice. I preferred the japanese ponzu. I know it's unusual for me to walk into a crawfish establishment and order chicken wings, but I did. I was on a time crunch and couldn't decide. With the help of David behind the counter, he gave me suggestions for the 5 Spice and Basil and the Spicy Garlic. The Spicy Garlic was mighty impressive. The wings were the right portion and bigger than Beaucoup's. There was a large amount of garlic and spice with every bite, but not too over powering. The 5 Spice and Basil I was not a fan of. It had more of a sugary sweet side to it. The aroma was breath taking, but I don't really enough sweet meals. It seemed to have a hint of cinnamon to it. The seasoned fries were crispy and crunchy. No complaints here. Overall, great experience, friendly staff members, clean establishment and reasonable price for wings. I'd like to try the crawfish another time. read more

The crawfish flavor was great, but the crawfish itself was super dry and hard. Majority of my crawfishes were overcooked. SAD :( There were a few funky tasting ones in there as well. Its a hit or a miss at this place. I've been here 3-4 times this year (in the last 2 months). Their crawfish were tiny, flavorless and overcooked. Overcooked crawfish is very hard to peel as the shells stick to the meat and the meat falls apart easily. They also didn't taste very good as it doesn't get a chance to absorb any of the excellent flavors they offer. Last year they had mixed some large ones with some medium and small crawfish. Not sure why there aren't doing that this year. They skimped on adding the "hot and sour" flavor to my crawfish last time and charged us an extra $1 for a small packet of flavor to add to the bag! It still wasn't enough so we tried adding salt, pepper and other spices they had out. We ended up discarding it all and getting something else next door. We expressed our disappointment but they didn't care. The service is quick and they are very friendly. Their fried wings are excellent. I am disappointed that they aren't as good as they used to be. I love their crawfish. I had the mild garlic and Cajun spicy. My cousin and I finished four pounds in no time. I had an additional 2 pounds of garlic mild by myself. I think I'm slightly addicted. The season hasn't officially started so they are small few mediums here and there but it was still good. We tried the crawfish empanadas and those were good as well. The sauce it came with really complimented it. This spot is BYOB. Since I'm not drinking for the month of January that didn't apply to me today. Oh parking on Saturday is a beast. Make sure you come with patience because people are coming to shop the market and other places in that lot. It took me about 10 minutes to get a spot. Well I think that about wraps up my review. I first saw LA Crawfish by roaming the food courts of 99 Ranch. I was glad I found a crawfish place nearby that wasn't near Bellaire, so I called up my friend the next day for lunch. LA Crawfish seriously changed my life! I've been back four times, made other friends tried it, and we have never once been disappointed. The crawfish itself is so big and deliciously flavorful, and the bag it comes in is filled with the sauce unlike other restaurants. Another big difference is how clean and fresh the crawfish tastes. The shrimp also comes in the same sauce, and it tastes just as fresh and flavorful. I recently went back to Boiling Crab, and the quality of their crawfish could not compare to LA Crawfish. Both their seasoned fries and sweet potato fries are honestly amazing. I really enjoy dipping the seasoned fries into the sauce that comes with the crawfish bag. Their side corn stays crunchy and not soggy, and their potatoes are the silky-texture, light purple-skin ones that I like. On top of it all, the staff is so welcoming and nice! Last weekend (3/7/15) I was finally able to go out and try this place everyone has been talking about. Since I knew it's byob I went to the market to get a six pack while my wife waited in the line. The line was pretty long and moved kind of slow, but that's expected at good restaurants. Besides crawfish, they have a decent selection on the menu. We ordered 5lbs of crawfish and all the works such as potato and corn. The crawfish were just as good as most places but what makes them better is the butter and spice they have so you can dip them in. I also ordered a gumbo which was not good in my opinion. It was not thick like gumbo should be and it lacked flavor. My wife also ordered the Cajun style shrimp and she claimed they are excellent. They come in a plastic bag just like the crawfish. Seating is not a a big problem. Even with it being so packed we were able to find a table easily. I'll definitely go back again and try some of their other items. Ps don't go if you're in a rush. Decided to give this place another try since my friends are big fans. Got there and there was a huge crowd. Apparently, this is the place to be! Great thing about this place is that it's BYOB...awesome! Beer and Crawfish, my kind of night! $5.99/lb, cheapest place that I know of currently. My friend and I killed six lbs together, half spicy garlic (must try) and half cajun. Corn and potatoes are $0.50 each. You can choose the level of spiciness, we opted for medium since we're sissys. All condiments are laid out at a station so you can concoct your own sauce and dip away!! I definitely walked away very much satisfied. I'll be back! read more
