Absolutely Fabulous!!! no time for a true valentines dinner since our day's are packed with our kids activities...but this past Saturday...we were able to escape for half a day and this was our destination. Crossed the border and headed to La Cayetana for late lunch/early dinner. We had reservations and the place wasn't busy when we arrived. We were immediately seated and had a fabulous server Cesar. His English was minimal but more than enough for us to communicate effectively. We ordered one course at a time and shared everything. We ate soooooo much...yet didn't feel icky stuffed...which I believe means quality food! Drink #1 - Margarita Cayetana. one of the best marg's i've ever had! Appetizer #1- "sashimi" yum yum! fish could have been a bit more tender (didn't easily cut with a fork) but the flavor was delicious. it had amazing olives and slices jalapenos. OMG yum! Appetizer #2 - bone marrow that Cesar prepared in tacos. 100% this was the #1 part of the meal. I can't wait to go back and have this as my entree...and i'm not going to share it! Drink #2 - Playas de Tijuana. I thought this was going to be a margarita...but it was so much more! True art (see pic). it was more of a tequila martini in a fish bowl scene. so amazing!! Part 3 beet salad. this salad was my other favorite part of the meal (when i come back my meal will be bone marrow and beet salad) the cheese was so creamy..the beets had so much flavor. Only thing i would do differently is ask for less dressing (it was probably perfect amount for most people) the dressing was divine though! Cesar was kind enough to split the salad onto 2 plates for us and it was was the perfect amount for 2 people. Entree #1 Rib eye..cooked medium (that's was Cesar suggested) it came perfect. I'm fascinated how ribeyes are such a thin cut every time i order in Baja...i think i actually like it more this way. the potatoes that came with the ribeye were flavorful and had a perfect texture. Entree #2 (actually from appetizer menu but they were out of the garlic shrimp) Catetana skillet - pork/shirmp/mushroom ...also prepared as tacos! so damn good! we even did dessert!!! (i literally NEVER order dessert) Lava Cake...filled with CARAMEL!!!! wholy moly...it was THE BEST EVER i can't wait to come back!!!!

Great food and great service. Enjoyed every dish. In addition to the items in the picture, we had the tuetanos al josper (tacos) appetizer and pan brioche. The brioche bread comes with two really yummy spreads.

Pros: The steak was as big as my face. The amount of meat was a lot! Bring your appetite. Service is excellent. I am always worried when eating out here because my spanish is bad but they have an English speaker there. Cons: The steak I usually eat has a crust from the sear and other stuff. This didn't have it. The marbling wasn't super even like a wagyu. When you are biting into it, sometimes you get large amounts of fat and sometimes none at all. All in all, really good as long as you know what you are getting.

This restaurant is in a great shopping center. We got seated immediately and customer service was great, they were very attentive and filled our waters often. I ordered the shrimp Mac n cheese, a Cesar salad & a soda. Total was about $35 American dollars

First let me say that this place is VERY pricey for TJ ... so if you're looking for good inexpensive food, this is not your place.... This place runs about 15/20 bucks a plate $DOLLARS NOT PESOS but you can compare this place to Javier's in Irvine as far as the esthetics and people... this place is more where you go if money isn't really a concern, although it's cheaper than Javier's in Irvine, it's comparable to the food and environment ( the food was BOMB) definitely worth the 20$ for the plate the corn cake and ice cream was ok for 6$... I would go again if I'm on a date or trying to impress someone other than that, you will find me at the lion fish restaurant instead :)

Have been here both times and didn't need a reservation. Food is AMAZING all the flavor is there. Drinks nice and strong. The menu changed drastically since my first visit which was 9 month previously. The medallones are something I always order. This time it didn't come with the purée de papa (garlic mashed potatoes) so it was a little disappointing. Small plates but everything was delicious. The waitress was kind of busy and forgot to bring the breads with spread in the beginning but we could see she was busy so it was okay. Wish they wouldn't of changed the menu. A lot of things on yelp aren't available either. For dessert we originally wanted the cheese cake.

    Beautiful bar.

Moises treats my mom & I like queens each & every time I come here. He truly makes my experience here special. This place is phenomenal! I recommend everything on the menu. They truly know how to make exquisite food. The drinks are delicious too. Best restaurant in Tijuana & California!

I went here a few times and the quality of the food is very very good! Everything is delicious! But the wait to get your food is insane and one of the person pretty much lied and said we were the ones lying! I'll Explain that in detail in a little bit. From my last visit the wait was pretty long almost 2 hours but it was a Saturday and we didn't have a reservation. We finally got sat! Bread was brought to your table! I ordered the strawberry martini which was very delicious. I loved it! My sister ordered the Cayetano margarita which was good as well. My grandma the pepino water and a pinada. We also ordered a bottle of water. For food I ordered the special of the day which was a risotto I'm not going to lie but it was very very delicious super tasty! I loved the texture of it! One of the best risottos I have ever tried. They ordered the pear salad which was phenomenal I tried it and it was really good. The tomatoe soup which was very tasty. Tuéstanos! That's when the issue happened! Mom was gone she was in the bathroom those who love tuétanos know they love to it from the bone and make your self your own tacos with it! Well the server or whoever ran the food decided to take our all the meat from the bones without even asking! We complained because my mom wanted to eat it from the bones! And the person lied saying he did ask when he didn't! Anyways mom got new ones! And they were delicious. My sister ordered a salmon with pasta and she didn't really like the pasta but I did! It was good. We also ordered the garlic and Parmesan fries to share with everyone! All the food was very good!! I recommend any of those dishes! You can't go wrong with them! For dessert we ordered two lava cakes and they were very tasty as well. I'll Keep continue going here! Prices are decent!

The rest was mixed: * Penne Arrabbiata had decent flavor but was a bit dry. * Salmon Meunière was good, though the mashed potatoes were dry. * Pescado Fiorentina was very good and the standout among the mains. The full bar is great, but the wine selection is limited. A memorable stop with some highs and a few misses.

Checked this spot out this past Mexican Independence Day due to the good reviews. It's located in…read morethe Zona Rio area, which is an area packed with very well-regarded, highly-rated restaurants in TJ. The restaurant is located directly behind the TGI Friday's on General Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada Boulevard. Got there around 1:30 pm, not too long after they opened. Not many people in there, though that wasn't surprising given that it was a Monday and a federal holiday. One thing I love about Mexican fine dining restaurants is they tend to be very lax on dress code; I was dressed casually but that wasn't a problem. I don't think they technically have a dress code, though a comparable fine dining steak restaurant in the U.S. might not have let me in given that I was casually (although neatly) dressed. Was nearly empty so was seated immediately. Waiter was an older male who spoke pretty good English. Was brought out Acqua Panna spring water while I looked over the menu. I first ordered a frozen strawberry margarita (209 pesos or roughly $11). The margarita was solid and tasty. For my meal I decided to go with the petit ribeye (300g ribeye), which came with a complimentary side (chose mashed potatoes) and the soup of the day (potatoes and cream). The petit ribeye was 1389 pesos (~$73 USD). While waiting for the main meal, they brought out bread and then the soup (which came with crackers). Really liked the soup. The bread was perfectly fine, though nothing special. They provided standard crackers but there were also some very large, circular crackers they provided that I didn't really like. After finishing the soup and bread they brought out the ribeye and potatoes. Both were very good, the ribeye in particular was well-cooked and tasty. Not the best ribeye I've had in my life or anything like that, but it was solid. I also liked the spicy sauce and pico condiments that came with the meal. The ribeye and margarita came to 1598 pesos total; after tip the total bill came out to around $100 USD. While I enjoyed the meal, I don't think I'd return to El Grill at that price point. I've had better steak/ribeye meals for less even in the U.S. and had better meals for much less in TJ. But the meal here was good and I'd still recommend for anyone who's never been, just as a place to check out. The waiter and customer service overall was great and very attentive.

We asked to move outside to catch the game, and while the server accommodated us, it was clear he wasn't too thrilled about it. We started with drinks, which were actually great; so good that we ended up ordering three rounds plus shots! For appetizers, we had the grilled bone marrow and empanadas, followed by a New York strip loin (recommended by the server) with creamy spinach and truffle fries. The empanadas and fries were delicious, but the steak was completely bland, definitely not worth the price. We asked for a spicy salsa, and the server brought one out "on the house," which was amazing. I even asked to take the leftover salsa home. Now, here's where things turned shady. Throughout the meal, the server kept upselling us on everything; which we didn't mind since we were having a good time. But when the bill came, we noticed he charged us for the leftover salsa that he originally said was complimentary! It wasn't about the money, but the principle. We asked him to remove the charge and told him to forget the salsa. The manager noticed what happened, took care of the charge, and even packed the salsa with our leftovers. The server, however, never returned to the table after that. The ambiance and cleanliness were fine, but overall, the experience left a bad taste. VERDICT: I will not be coming back.
