The service here is excellent and very attentive. They removed the old décor, and now everything looks clean, fresh, and inviting. Every dish we ordered was flavorful and delicious, and the drinks are always a show in themselves!

Been here done that ,great steak and appetizer too much food was hungry this place has great tasting beef from Sonora , Great upscale Steakhouse comprable to Del Friscos and Palm steakhouse and Cutb. Way cheaper about 35 percent. Will keep coming back . The atmosphere is upscale with a lot of waiters. Didn't order a desert too full . To eat desert

Over cooked, and fatty and horrible tasting steak

The steak that I got had more fat than actual steak. It came out overcooked and the servers had presented me with a different menu with higher prices than the other people at the restaurant. And for some odd reason they wouldn't give me a receipt or even let me pay using card.. I knew something was up I tired to ask management for an email to report this to and they gave me the following email "customerservice@grupopalominos.com" I sent an email to the address above but it's an invalid email address. I even noticed that you guys keep mentioning this email address on your review left on Google to report issues with the visit at the restaurant. I will post up a pic of my fatty over cooked steak. It was supposed to be cooked rare and it came medium well. When i asked the waiter to bring a rare steak instead of this over cooked steak he mentioned that it's health risk. This restaurant and staff and food is an absolute disgrace. Don't go there if your American..they will cheat you in every way possible.

A must try! It's my first time here and I'm definitely impressed with the quality and authenticity of the food. The service was magnificent and Jerry who was our waiter was just out of this world awesome! I couldn't have asked for better service. There is also rooftop seating but since it was chilly we did not request. A few plates I highly recommend... Drinks mixology: Sangria, Avocado mixed drink ( I forgotten the name) Appetizer: Fried octopus with chicharrón, Caldo de queso (Sopa) , all their salsas are amazing! Entrees: Salmon, Tomahawk steak, wagyu Dessert: Cajeta crepes, Cornbread, cheesecake Reservations are made ahead of time as well. I had made mine a week in advance.

    FILETE AL BACANORA medium rare

Heard about this place in Mexicali. Found out that there's another one down in TJ. Had to drop by to try the steak. The FILETE AL BACANORA medium rare was initially done pretty good but it was served on a searing hot stone. After some time my medium rare was no longer medium rare. Kind of dried the steak out a bit. But it was still good. The RIB EYE PRIME done medium was the highlight of the meal. Though I prefer medium rare this one was fine as is. Ended up exchanging with the misses since she prefers medium cook steak and I medium rare and the prime was a lot less cooked than the filete al bacanora. The service was definitely amazing. Catered to our every needs and had absolutely no issues correcting our concerns. And the live grilling in front of us was dope. All in all was definitely a great experience. I'd rate it behind Ruth's Chris Steakhouse but definitely a contender south of the border.

Freshly made caesar salad. Absolutely delicious!

The food was fantastic as well as the service. We had the rib eye (which was huge and cooked to perfection), seared tuna, caesar salad (made fresh at the table)

Ribeye Aguachile! Not a great pic, but it sure was delicious!

Went back to Palominos for my wife's birthday. Great service once again! I ordered the Tomahawk Prime, it was a bit fatty but the flavor was delicious. We had some appetizers, tripas the leche were delicious!

I'm now recommending this restaurant to my friends and family. Great service and of course now one of my favorite restaurants. Waiters were awesome!!! Went out of their way for anything we asked for.

Been here a couple of times. But I recently went Wednesday to celebrate my aunts birthday. We got there around 9pm. It was pretty slow. We got our table right away. Servers were really nice and friendly! We asked a couple of questions and all of them were answered. We started off with an appetizer little taquitos of machaca!! They also give you a complementary big flour tortilla very crunchy with beans and different sauces! We got a bottle of wine the white Zinfandel and mom got An non alcoholic beverage and my aunt as well! My uncle and I shared the dinner for two people' comes with steak ribs and tripa. Comes with beans tortillas salad ! The portions are really good! But that's why I'm just giving it 4 stars because it didn't taste that well. It had no flavor like other times! My mom got the rib eye really good steak! Super juicy!!!!! My aunt got the pulpo it was also super tasty!!!! They give out a complementary cheesecake for birthdays and do a little show with a piñata and covering the eyes! Pretty cool!!! We will come back!!!!

    Caesar Salad

Great service and delicious food. Must try when in TJ. I had a Caesar salad and also a giant steak I don't know name off hand but they bring it to you on fire.

Checked this spot out this past Mexican Independence Day due to the good reviews. It's located in…read morethe Zona Rio area, which is an area packed with very well-regarded, highly-rated restaurants in TJ. The restaurant is located directly behind the TGI Friday's on General Rodolfo Sánchez Taboada Boulevard. Got there around 1:30 pm, not too long after they opened. Not many people in there, though that wasn't surprising given that it was a Monday and a federal holiday. One thing I love about Mexican fine dining restaurants is they tend to be very lax on dress code; I was dressed casually but that wasn't a problem. I don't think they technically have a dress code, though a comparable fine dining steak restaurant in the U.S. might not have let me in given that I was casually (although neatly) dressed. Was nearly empty so was seated immediately. Waiter was an older male who spoke pretty good English. Was brought out Acqua Panna spring water while I looked over the menu. I first ordered a frozen strawberry margarita (209 pesos or roughly $11). The margarita was solid and tasty. For my meal I decided to go with the petit ribeye (300g ribeye), which came with a complimentary side (chose mashed potatoes) and the soup of the day (potatoes and cream). The petit ribeye was 1389 pesos (~$73 USD). While waiting for the main meal, they brought out bread and then the soup (which came with crackers). Really liked the soup. The bread was perfectly fine, though nothing special. They provided standard crackers but there were also some very large, circular crackers they provided that I didn't really like. After finishing the soup and bread they brought out the ribeye and potatoes. Both were very good, the ribeye in particular was well-cooked and tasty. Not the best ribeye I've had in my life or anything like that, but it was solid. I also liked the spicy sauce and pico condiments that came with the meal. The ribeye and margarita came to 1598 pesos total; after tip the total bill came out to around $100 USD. While I enjoyed the meal, I don't think I'd return to El Grill at that price point. I've had better steak/ribeye meals for less even in the U.S. and had better meals for much less in TJ. But the meal here was good and I'd still recommend for anyone who's never been, just as a place to check out. The waiter and customer service overall was great and very attentive.

We decided to try this place because of the amazing Google reviews!…read more but boy, were we wrong! Hear me out. From the moment we arrived, we felt rushed to our seats. We asked to move outside to catch the game, and while the server accommodated us, it was clear he wasn't too thrilled about it. We started with drinks, which were actually great; so good that we ended up ordering three rounds plus shots! For appetizers, we had the grilled bone marrow and empanadas, followed by a New York strip loin (recommended by the server) with creamy spinach and truffle fries. The empanadas and fries were delicious, but the steak was completely bland, definitely not worth the price. We asked for a spicy salsa, and the server brought one out "on the house," which was amazing. I even asked to take the leftover salsa home. Now, here's where things turned shady. Throughout the meal, the server kept upselling us on everything; which we didn't mind since we were having a good time. But when the bill came, we noticed he charged us for the leftover salsa that he originally said was complimentary! It wasn't about the money, but the principle. We asked him to remove the charge and told him to forget the salsa. The manager noticed what happened, took care of the charge, and even packed the salsa with our leftovers. The server, however, never returned to the table after that. The ambiance and cleanliness were fine, but overall, the experience left a bad taste. VERDICT: I will not be coming back.

One of my absolute favorite places to visit every time I'm in TJ!!!!…read more The meat there is not even comparable to any of the places here in the United States. They have much more open food selection with much wider variety either Mexican or regular American style food. They will literally always at all times be passing by with meat, you would literally get sick of it and just have to turn the sign off (even then they still come with meat lol) The service is absolutely top notch and they made sure that we have everything we needed! Even come by all the time to see if there's any meat we would like to request so they could bring it for us!!!! That's just never happened with us before!!!!!!! We had a birthday there, and I tell you they really know how to do a celebration right, you will get the very much loud and fun birthday shoutout. Also they will make you chug a shot and shake your head like they do over there. It was so special and to be remembered. Parking structure is small there, but they do have valet and they'll take care of it for you. (I believe it's only valet parking there, I could be wrong. But we got the valet parking) Price can't be beat for the quality and amount of food. Absolute steal. 2 people on a weekend with a birthday celebration and couple soft drinks and water came to be about $80ish-$90. Which if you know how much Brazilian steakhouses in the US cost, you'd know how good of a deal that is!!!!!!!! Overall, it really sucks that this place is far away, otherwise I'd have been there every weekend :) But it is a stable to go to every time I'm in Mexico.
