This place is famous for Weight loss patients last meal before surgery. They are know for their soup in the weight loss community. It's taste just like steak drippings, it's in credible. Beware the steak menu is listed in grams not ounces, and if your American they don't give you a heads up, I'm sure they get a good laugh over watching Americans order huge platters of steak. My husband said it was the best steak he's ever had. So I say try.

The food here is sooooo good! I've never had beef broth before but man it's tastes like roast gravy! So flavorful and filling!

We came here since we stayed across the street at the Tijuana Baja Hotel. It was a great experience. During our 3 day stay at the hotel we are here every night. My husband loved the steak, short ribs, Caesar salad, sausages. The portion sizes were great. I had the beef and chicken broths and it was the best I've ever had. So great that sounded corny.

This was such a delicious experience! The ribeye was cooked to perfection, with wonderful flavor and was super tender and juicy. We shared a pitcher of red sangria that was also perfection. We also had a couple empanadas and the caprese salad. Everything was served at the perfect temperature and the service was impeccable. The bathroom was extremely clean and modern and the dining room large and open. They have a private parking lot and they're in a good location. It was a little difficult to catch a cab from there so either Uber or drive yourself is probably best. We will be back again and again!

Fonda Argentine is in a nice part of Tijuana. The place seemed a bit old, in comparison to most of the other nearby restaurants. They serve meats on a board, soups and sides. I don't know what was going on with me this night. I have never orders chicken at a restaurant before. I ordered chicken and some grilled veggies. They also bring you some bread rolls with hot sauce and chimichuri. I wished the bread was warm. The chicken and veggies were phenomenal. It was 2 chicken breast pounded thin. Yum! I went back a second time and ordered the exact same thing. The next day, it took us 8 hours to cross the border back into the US and I was very happy to have those leftovers to snack on.

Super good dishes. I couldn't decide what to get. So I end up with the rib eye steak as you can see. $50 for what you see. So be ready to spend some bucks if you bring a crowd. Plus tip.

Tamarind margarita. Heck yes! Blended and smooth. They use fresh tamarind as well.

Great spot and our server victor was exceptional as well. I will be returning to this location in the future.

Great Food. Outstanding service. Top notch. Great location. Ample parking (Valet) Suggestions: Arrive early, avoid the crowds. All of our meats where very good. Queso fundido NOT recommended. Beware: The salsa is really good but VERY HOT. Weird: All sides (including tortillas) are charged extra. $90 dlls all in with TIP for 2 adults and 2 kids.

The food was okay. Prices have jumped in the last 3 years. Used to get skirt steak for around $30. It is now over $100. Not worth the trip (photo is a sirloin streak, cheaper and chewier, cost like $55)

I came in here based on the many Yelp reviews although I had seen the place many times when staying across the street at the Gran Hotel Tijuana . The place was expansive , Covid safe, they checked our temperature and all, friendly and professional staff . We were immediately sat at our table and served some delicious bread with chimmichurri sauce , butter and all. I ordered the rib eye which was for two people, they gave you so much, this thing was delicious, tender, absolutely cooked to perfection, I also ordered the ceasar salad , homemade , fresh , very rich in flavor , very good salad, huge portion. As an appetizer we had the empanadas which were absolutely perfect, had the chicken broth , out of this world , so good, words can't describe it. My daughter had the grilled chicken breast, five star flavor , very tender , explosive flavors . I especially enjoyed the grilled vegetable side which was honestly thee best I've ever had, I can't enough about this place, Matias our server was professional, quick and just great, deserts are outstanding also. I have been to the other Argentinian steakhouse down the street, Origen Argentino and I have to absolutely say that this place is just much, much better. I won't go anywhere else when I want to enjoy a good dinner here in Tijuana . Do yourself a favor and come check it out. The Argentinian wine will also keep you coming back for more.

We had the chicken broth and small sirloin. OMG heavenly! The sirloin was grilled just right! The broth was so flavorable. Came the next night for grilled chicken with chimichurri- oh heavenly! Also was craving Mexican Street corn, which explained to waiter & he had cook whip me up some. Days later had their tiramisu to go - again heavenly!

The meat flavor is good, the service wasn't so good. The bar selection was not my favorite either, the items needed more flavor.

We decided to try this place because of the amazing Google reviews!…read more but boy, were we wrong! Hear me out. From the moment we arrived, we felt rushed to our seats. We asked to move outside to catch the game, and while the server accommodated us, it was clear he wasn't too thrilled about it. We started with drinks, which were actually great; so good that we ended up ordering three rounds plus shots! For appetizers, we had the grilled bone marrow and empanadas, followed by a New York strip loin (recommended by the server) with creamy spinach and truffle fries. The empanadas and fries were delicious, but the steak was completely bland, definitely not worth the price. We asked for a spicy salsa, and the server brought one out "on the house," which was amazing. I even asked to take the leftover salsa home. Now, here's where things turned shady. Throughout the meal, the server kept upselling us on everything; which we didn't mind since we were having a good time. But when the bill came, we noticed he charged us for the leftover salsa that he originally said was complimentary! It wasn't about the money, but the principle. We asked him to remove the charge and told him to forget the salsa. The manager noticed what happened, took care of the charge, and even packed the salsa with our leftovers. The server, however, never returned to the table after that. The ambiance and cleanliness were fine, but overall, the experience left a bad taste. VERDICT: I will not be coming back.

Both the mocktails and the cocktails were delightfully tasty. Our waiter Fernando was exceptional, going as far as to bring us the various cuts of meat when we have questions about what to order. The meat! The meat! The best steak my wife and I have had I'm recent memory! She had the Bite de Lomo. I had the arrechera. We both couldn't have been happier with our choice. We're already talking about making a trip down from San Diego to have dinner here!

I had a friend visiting Tijuana so we went for dinner the last day he was in town…read more Despite living in TJ for a few years now I have not been able to try any Argentinian restaurant yet. The only I did try was "El Tucumano" which was located in downtown TJ, but that was over 5 years ago when I was living in San Diego. At the time we left feeling that the overall experience was mediocre at best. Anyway so this time we left Playas de Tijuana at 830 pm and heading to Rosarito. We were not aware the the restaurants there close at 9 pm so best case we could get there 5 or 10 minutes before the time they would close. Giving the time restraints we called a few places just to make sure we were going to be fine. The first place we called was restaurant "El Gaucho", they said they close at 9 pm every day and they take orders till 845 pm. Since it was 842 or 843 pm they said to look for another restaurant as they were not taking us. Then, we moved to the next place we found on Google, that place was Patagonia. Although they also closed at 9 pm we thought we were unlikely going to be accepted, but the hostess on the phone said that they were going to accommodate us, she just asked if we knew what we wanted to that they could get started as the kitchen was about to close. Since we knew what we wanted to order we could order on the phone, making things easier for everyone. We got there exactly at 9 pm, we sat down, got a soda and a glass of wine and by the time we got the drink the food was already there, just out of the grill. Timing was beyond perfect, it could not get any better. We got a parrillada for 2, but indeed, the food that comes with it its for 2 big eaters, to be honest this would have been more than enough for 3 average eaters. The cuts were really tender and flavorfull, without significant fat pockets. It was really tasty, similar to the parrilladas you would get in good restaurants in Argentina. It came with 2 or 3 different steaks; flank steak, skirt steak and short ribs. The parrillada came also with corn on the cob, chorizo and morcilla as well as a side of fries . We also got 2 empanadas to start with and for dessert we got an alfajor (we were stuffed but we could not leave without trying a dessert). Overall we were were happy, I am Argentinian so I can definitely appreciate a good quality parrillada and it's not that living away from home for 25 years made me forget the standards I developed when I lived in Argentina. I was happy with the food, the generous servings we got along with the fair prices we paid and mostly with the fact that i could proudly show a Mexican friend how good the Argentinian parrilladas are. A few years ago I visited Mexico and they proudly took me to different places to try Mexico's best cuisine and I ended up getting nothing but their finest. Now, despite the limited options Tijuana has I was still able to catch up and get them to sample some of Argentinian's best beef. I could not be happier with the overall experiene at Patagonia in Rosarito.

Enjoyed this restaurant! Due to the outstanding reviews on Yelp, decided to trek on down from the…read moreSan Diego border to Rosarito to check this spot out. Patagonia is located right in the heart of downtown Rosarito, within a short walking distance of the beach and well-known Papas & Beer nightclub. Was slightly hard to find at first, though there is a small red sign from the storefronts on main street (Hwy 1) indicating where the restaurant is. The restaurant is actually located in a charming garden court slightly off the main street, co-located with a few other restaurants and shops. Got to the restaurant a little before 1:30 pm on a Friday, not too long after they opened for the day. Only one other set of customers was there at the time so I was able to be seated immediately. Was surprised by how small the spot is, almost felt like you were walking into someone's home rather than a restaurant, though I very much appreciated the old-school, "homey" feel and decor. 4-5 tables inside, another 4-5 tables outside, with the kitchen right in the front of the restaurant where you can see all the food being prepared. A couple of cats randomly roaming around the restaurant also added to the charm, LOL. Seems to be a family-owned restaurant judging from the size, decor, and the fact that the waiter who took my order was also helping in the kitchen. The waiter who greeted me spoke pretty good English so language barrier was no issue. I ordered the 16 oz grilled ribeye steak (Bife Patagonia), which comes with your choice of french fries (which I chose) or salad. There's not an extensive drink list here - mostly some wines, sangria, juices, and water - so I just went with some mineral water rather than the usual beer I would get at this type of restaurant. A few minutes after ordering they waiter brought out a few pieces of complimentary bread with homemade sauces. Small portioned, but very tasty! They then brought out the french fries before bringing out the steak, which I thought was a little odd (these are typically brought out at the same time), but wasn't a problem for me. The ribeye was very well-portioned, juicy, and damn good. Wouldn't say it's up there with the best I've ever had, or even the best I've had in Mexico, but it was good. At 695 pesos (~$35 dollars) I thought it was great value relative to comparable steakhouses both in Mexico and the U.S. Altogether with the 2 mineral waters I ordered (50 pesos each), my total bill came out to 795 pesos (~40) which was actually much less than I was expecting to pay going in. Patagonia does accept credit cards and they have their own free wi-fi. While most people who go to steakhouses like this dress up nicely, there is no dress code here. I was very casually dressed when I went here, as was the waiter and all the other workers who were there at the time. Very charming restaurant with good food at a great price! Definitely recommend checking out at least once if you happen to be in the area!
