This is a cute Italian bistro in the heart of Paris. Great location; great food; horrible service! However, I had the freshest calamari in Paris that afternoon with extra lemon juice but no marinara for dipping. I guess something was lost in translation! My friends ordered a salad and a thin crust, brick oven pizza. I ordered a pizza too with extra ingredients. After finishing my calamari, the server asked if we wanted anything else. I said yes, my pizza! He brought it 20 minutes later ( no sense of urgency in Paris ) but he forgot the extra ingredients! So he took it back & we waited. By the way.... we were also out of beverages......the prices were $4 for a beer & about $10 for a pizza. read more

After dining at the Sergio and seeing they haven't a single review I can only assume it is a conspiracy. A well laid plan the restaurants regulars hatched to keep this wonderful dining experience a secret. As you approach this small cafe the valet welcomes you with a broad smile and alerts the impeccably dressed host who moves continuously but never has a hair out of place or perspires in the least. My companions and I started with the Fritto Misto, perfectly prepared tender calamari and whole shrimps tossed in lemon and herbs. Dinner consisted of sauteed fish fillets on a bed of tapenade, penne pasta in a light but perfectly seasoned cream sauce with slices of chorizo and my favorite, the raviolli stuffed with seasonal mushrooms in a decadent heavy cream that was perfect for dipping the endless slices of fresh baguette, For the life of me, I can not remember what I had for dessert due to the amount of red wine I drank. Fine meal but probably wouldn't return. Ordered spaghetti with clams and friend ordered eggplant stuffed rigatoni. Our issues were that a) although tasty, the rigatoni was not actually stuffed with eggplant. Delicious food, great staff, and friendly atmosphere. I came into this Italian restaurant at 3:30 PM starving getting off of plane from Milan, and they really delivered. Every other restaurant in the area was closed but this one was open. Looked decent and proved to be amazing! Started off with vegetables and then had the linguine ai pomodori freschi di collina e basilico for my late afternoon lunch. Very simple but very delicious. Decent pricing and GOOD ingredients. I can tell everything is very fresh and nothing is processed. Seems very family-owned and I would definitely go back. Five stars because I never judge a book by its cover. This restaurant ROCKS and they were so personable. These people don't mess around with their Italian food. It is just as good as the food in Italy! read more

If you go on a weekend it is like being in a fire drill. Its loud, things are moving quickly and you have no idea whats going on but pretty sure something is all the time. On the weekends IT IS A ZOO till past midnight and expect to have a line, the waiters are stressed but doing good and everything will take a long time, getting seated, getting your drinks, your food, the bill. But if youre on holiday, want to take in the culture and are ok to chill do come on in. Or, come super early, after 9pm its in full swing. I went alone. Like Johnny D I got the same response but after I swung a smile and said I was sorry for blocking the one pathway for all the waiters in the place, and said no worries they actually found me a spot ahead of everyone else in line in under 5 minutes. The French need a little love before they loosen up, esp if you are an American (which I am not). That did not mean I wasnt waiting for everything, which I was. But you know what, everyone was waiting, thats just the way it is. The couple next to me had the waiter passing my food over them, at one point he asked them to hand me my spoon. I apologized for him especially when all my finished dishes also went cross their faces. Thats just how it is. The food was good. I really enjoyed my pasta and wish I had ordered pasta. I had a side of spicy pasta (i asked them to make me something spicy so it has no name other than good) and grilled tuna. My tuna was OK, not bad but my pasta was so much better it kind of took away from it, should have had potatoes with the fish. The tiramisu was authentic and far too big for one me. Half is sitting in my hotel fridge at the moment. I am sure on a early week night you will get the lovely service and ambience without being elbow to elbow with ladies on either side blowing smoke in your face. I was fine with it, you probably will not be if you are coming from North America. Remember, you are NOT in North America. Absolutely delicious meal, wonderful management and perfect staff. As lost and confused American in Paris for the first time, this little restaurant was a complete godsend. From the moment my partner and I walked into the doorway, we immediately felt welcomed! We were greeted with a loud and boisterous Bonjour and Hello from one of the managers, and was offered one of the beautiful outdoor seating options. Each item we ordered was beyond delicious, prepared impeccably and delectable to the last bite. I highly recommend the Linguine with clams, as it was my favorite meal of my entire trip. Visited this evening, immediately felt welcomed. Tried to go to Ricci's earlier but turned away due to not having a reservation. We walked in and asked if we had a reservation (I thought not again. But they said "that is ok, hold on" then they seated us. Service was very friendly and prompt. The food was great and actually felt like the service was sincere and they appreciated our business. We came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening at 7:30. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Abdel took such good care of us and made the best recommendations! The pizza was phenomenal, and the salads had the freshest ingredients, as if they had been picked out of a garden. The desserts were beautiful and perfectly done. Good, solid italian restaurant close to the Port Maillot metro stop/Palais de Congres. It was conveniently open when we needed it and were not disappointed. Had been eating in French bistros and brasseries so this was a perfect break from that. I had one mean Lasagna, very tasty and with an interesting texture -- softer than used to it but it worked really well with the plate. Appetizer, main dish and dessert worked out well. Service was slow and a little bit inattentive that's why I deducted a star. I'd give it a 7.5-8 out of 10 in my overall scale of Italian restaurants, mostly because of its lasagna. read more

Recomended by a local hotel concierge. Greeted quickly and seated then welcomed with menus. Ordered an appetizer of Calamari and some fired cheese. We were headed to the #1 place in this neighborhood but the line out the door and around the corner plus the rain encourgaged us to move on. Sergio's was an absolutely pleasant surprise. My husband can be difficult in dealing with the unfamiliar so I thought Italian would offer no complaints - he gets the menu. We were greeted by, for all I know, Sergio whose English was American (we could have been in Little Italy), who helped us out with directions back to the hotel and all before we ordered. Charming as could be but not the only charmer. We felt well taken care of. The menu is in Italian with English translations. My husband had a Caesar salad and ravioli, I had veal in lemon sauce. After my usual fussing with substitutions, I got not only delicious veal in lemon sauce but a beautiful assortment of fresh vegetables. And I ended up cleaning up my husband's plate too. My husband is a beer drinker while I go with wine so it nice to have wine by the glass. We finished up by sharing a tarte (sharing must happen a lot, we were asked each time something was solo) and coffee. Totally lovely experience. Perhaps we were early for dinner; there were a few people there when we arrived but it was buzzing by the time we left and no other English speakers. read more

Miserable staff & management. Walked into an almost empty restaurant. Outside table was under an extremely hot heat lamp. Went inside to find a table. Two couples inside. We were told to sit at a table right next to a table occupied by two businessmen. Instead we moved two tables over to have a bit more privacy. The waiter and bar tender took exception to our moving. They rudely told us to sit back at the other table. We said we'd prefer not to sit so close (less than 8 inches away) to the other table especially as the place was almost entirely empty and there were many available tables. The manager said ok, but the waiter objected. He rudely told my wife, "you want a table for two." We explained that we just wanted a table with more privacy as we were in an almost entirely empty restaurant. The waiter said nothing and just rudely stared at my wife even after she'd finished explaining to him. He just stood there and dumbly stared at her! Without saying a word he rudely picked up the menus and walked away. So, we left the dark, dinghy restaurant and simply took our business elsewhere. The manager followed us outside, rudely said "thank you," and slammed the door. With miserable fools like this running a restaurant I'm surprised there was anyone in the restaurant at all. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump. There are too many better restaurants nearby with happy, helpful staff. read more

We were in Paris December of 2011. After eating french for a few nights, I had a huge taste for italian food. Being second generation italian and very picky about restaurant italian food, I, at least needed a recommendation for a good place. We got a recommendation for Sergio's place from a boulangere owner just down the street from where we were staying. It was so good, I couldn't wait to the next morning so I could go and tell her how much we enjoyed it. The food came out piping hot, which I loved. I hate cold or even luke warm food. The ingredients were fresh and the preperation exquisite. The experience was so awesome, we had to take our friends there two nights later. Sadly, this was the rudest experience I've had at a restaurant in ANY country. I wish I could tell you how the food was, as it looked quite good, but I never even had a chance to try it. I entered the restaurant and approached what appeared to be the host stand to have them put my name down on a list or request a table, but before I could even say hello, two employees of the restaurant began to yell at me. One appeared to be a waiter, while the other was very nicely dressed, perhaps the owner, host or manager? Regardless they began to yell, get out, you can't be in the restaurant, there is a line, don't you see it? Shocked by their unprovoked rudness, I tried to tell the host I was just trying to put my name down for a table. I asked him if there was a list as he was physically pushing me out of the restaurant. He responded to me by saying yes, and I said great. He then followed it up with it is right here in my head and you are last on it. That is when I walked away and swore I would NEVER go back no matter how good the food may have been. read more
