This location does NOT serve authentic Peruvian food. They have spin offs! Pescado a Lo macho was not spicy at all. When we asked for rocoto they did not have! The Causa was missing olives, but had tomato's as garnish and the mashed potatoes had no flavor. The fried calamari was not peeled or cooked properly too tough to chew. The green sauce was mostly Mayo and oil, very watery. The rice was over cooked without much taste. But to top it all off the server was a young rude Latin man definitely needs courtesy when dealing with customers. Tried la Cabaña tonight. They were busy when I walked in and I had to wait about 5-10 minutes just to order. After I placed our to go order, I waited about 25-30 minutes to get the food. There is only one person who was working in the front trying to wait on tables, answer phones and take the take out orders. He was running around but just couldn't handle it. They need to have more people. When I got home and started eating, there was a piece of hard plastic in my food. ‍ I get they are new but they already have another business in ozone park, they should understand how to staff a place. Also the lady in front of me asked for an extra sauce and the guy didn't want to give it to her because "they're a new business and don't have enough." This place just opened for business 4 days ago. We really enjoy Peruvian food and wanted to support our local business. We were greeted and seated. The place has a good amount of seating, nicely decorated and the mats on the table are so beautiful. If you decide on booth seating just be aware it's tight. Smaller than what I've seen but not totally uncomfortable. We settled on the chicken with arroz Chaufa which is their fried rice, fried plantains and salchipapa. As you can see from the pictures the portions are small but I was full. Some might not get full from this. However you can order an actually arroz for the table for $18 which I'm pretty sure can feed several people. I thought the food was tasty. I really liked their aji sauce which had a kick but still really good. The chicken was juicy and had a nice flavor. The salad dressing was really really good! The rice was also very good. Not greasy at all which is great. Also, they didn't have any highchairs yet which I hope they get for us parents. Absolutely love the food!! It's delicious, HOWEVER every time I have had delivery the delivery dude steals and double tips himself. I have called and never gotten a response back from the manager so I will just not be ordering anymore and assume the delivery dude needs the money more than I do since he felt the need to steal from a customer MORE THAN ONCE! My family and I have ordered a few times. We spend a decent amount on our orders. I pay with my debit over the phone and tip in cash. I noticed that the delivery dude does not give me a receipt and tips himself on my debit card the same amount I gave him in person in cash. So he's basically getting my tip in cash and the same amount in tip again from my debit. I called twice and was awaiting a call back from a manager. Never spoke to one. Gave up. What a terrible experience. I've been around the world in developing countries and my expectations are not high for service... this came nowhere close to my lowest expectations. My daughter's food never came... and no one ever came to check on us... forget refills on water. When we finally talked with someone they said they'd check on the food and after more of a wait they apologized saying they hadn't put it in. By this point I was finished with my meal and ready to go... My daughter had just ordered a tamal and they said no, no it'll just be a few minutes. When they brought her food it was cold inside and at this point we just wanted to leave. Another surprise comes in... While they apologized for the food they certainly made no adjustments for a missing order and cold food but they also did an automatic 18% service fee... REALLY? There was no service but they automatically included 18% although this was not stated anywhere.... we were a party of 2. I asked the folks beside of us and they said this was a new deal to charge for service... They lost a loyal customer. As I mentioned before the Ros chicken was our favorite. Today I came at 12 PM (just when they open) to get some chicken. When I got home the chicken was very dry. I used the thermometer to take temperature and it was cold inside. I've been working in the food industry for many years and I know when a food has been reheated, the taste, the smell and the texture isn't the same, specially if it's chicken. We didn't eat the chicken, one because it wasn't going to have the same flavor and two because we could easily get food poisoning. So sad that they do this. read more

It's the beginning of summer 2019 and I come here for combo #3: whole chicken, rice, beans, salad, and may I say the green sauce. This combo will suffice for four people...but when the chicken is this good...I turn into a Neanderthal and recognize no one...my sole focus is distracted w this chicken...like a cat w its toy. This chicken falls off the bone, excellent flavor, I sometimes forget about the green sauce (I know- curse the heavens!) I should try other things but when you know their thing- you get it. The food here is fantastic!!! I've ordered a few times when visiting the Rockaways, and am never disappointed. They are super kind but the service can be a little slow at times, especially considering the pandemic and all the slowdowns going on, so be patient. If you use something like Grubhub, you should call and confirm they got the order (or just call to place your order instead of using the apps). My favorite dishes are the classics- any ceviche, shrimp chaufa, and jalea. The green spicy sauce is super tasty too! Highly recommend this place. read more

This place is a awesome addition to restaurant row in the Rockaways! I was very sad to see AA Chinese restaurant go but this is more than enough to replace it! First, it is Peruvian in RB?! The only Peruvian spot and it is actually very good! The inside is very reminiscent to most Peruvian Restaurants with bright warm and clean colors. It is spacious and plant of seating. Staff is awesome. I have yet to have a bad experience here, I have dined in on multiple occasions and taken out as well. The girls are friendly and while I know my Peruvian foods they are happy to explain to new affcieanados the ins and out of their yummy cuisine. I have to to go when it is stupid busy, I would say service time is average. Wait is neither too long or short but again maybe I go at the right times? I'm not sure. The Aji Verde-the green sauce is off the chain here. I'm always tempted to take a bottle-if they sold it I would buy it. I have tried many of their dishes, I really like the pork tamale over the chicken. I'm a huge fan of salchipollo ( french fries, sausages, and friend chicken drenched in mayo and ketchup). The portions here are huge- totally worth the price. I wish they had their own home-brew chicha ( purple corn drink) because the one in the bottle is too bazooka gum tasting. Overall? A couple of months back I ordered a bistec encebollado, slightly overpriced but I figured if it's good why not? It was bland and tough. Fast forward to now, I decided let me give them another chance. I ordered camarones al ajillo. Ugh....They were sour and almost reminded me of Chinese shrimp in garlic sauce except I would much rather actually order it from a Chinese restaurant. How this place is still in business is beyond me considering how expensive their dishes are. Look elsewhere, don't waste your money.
