I always wanted to go in here but sadly I had never gave them a chance because of the lack of parking on the Ave. I went last night and loved the atmosphere and staff so friendly along with the customers. I love that. To feel so welcome in a restaurant you would always be a return customer. That's on service alone. Went for drinks. In the end I ended up trying a little bite. Can't wait to go back and continue eating and working with them as well. .

We Went on a Wednesday night. Food was well cooked. We had the Buffalo wings and tostones with shrimp and guacamole. They have happy hour from 4pm - 10pm, but no menu for happy hours drinks. Happy hour offerings include frozen margaritas, margaritas on the rocks, sangria and rum punch. The margaritas come in several flavors (passion fruit, mango to say a few). We ordered 2 entrees to share: the churrasco with white rice and beans. The chicken mofongo. When we walked in the restaurant was empty but overall the ambiance was ok. A nice staple in the community.

Came here for a shower and the food was so good. Everything was flavorful and the presentation was nice, service was great even though it was a large party. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and if it was closer I'd return. My calamari, skirt steak and mashed potatoes were all so good. I'd highly recommend s

Very cute, classic vibe in the middle of Woodhaven. Definitely unexpected coming off of the main strip of Jamaica Ave. Pleasant host and amazing drinks. I had a spicy margarita and there is a gift in making that drink. Absolutely a must have. I've been trying not to eat certain things so they were super accommodating with putting together a few items for me which were yummy. Came for an early Sunday breakfast and it really hit the spot. Definitely returning again and again.

Love Pop's. I have been here multiple times and the food is consistently amazing. They must have a great chef and kitchen staff. The servers are always friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended!

Came across this place with my wife not too long ago and I can say with the highest level of honesty that anything on the menu blows your taste buds away! Today we are trying their famous "Mata Hambre". As the picture suggests, it for sure did kill the hunger. With their steak bites to accompany the main dish you'll leave with a full stomach and left amazed at the combination of flavor between the sweet plantain with cheese, medium rare churrasco and the shrimp. This place is a must for all who wish to find a place with great aesthetics and amazing food! Henry G is an amazing host as he was very attentive and charismatic throughout the experience. Special thanks to you Henry!

Was in the area & we decided to stop into this lil Spanish restaurant.... very nice & open dining room with plenty of seating ... Love the old nostalgic wood workmanship all around ... Very clean !!! The waitresses were very nice & friendly ... took our order right away ..... This spot definitely more of a lunch & dinner & bar spot if you ask me ..... My wife ordered the bacon & cheese omelette with rye toast ... & I ordered the Mexican omelette with chorizo & cheese & peppers ... thought it would have a lil heat & spice to it ... had to add a Lil hot sauce & I was good to go ... Also ordered a side of their corn beef hash from the can .... I liked it .... just had to get it well done with a lil crisp & it was delicious ... as well as their home fries ... portions are a lil on the smaller side which we didn't mind .... we all need to get back to what a normal size portion should be ..... Coffee was also very good & fresh served with ice cold milk & cream ... The food did take a Lil on the longer side to arrive to our table .... FYI, there were only three other tables ... so if your in a hurry you might want to make other arrangements..... But again we didn't mind the wait & the plates came out hot & garnished really nice looking !!! We really enjoyed our breakfast & now might have to come back again for a dinner experience!!!! Thanks, Greg D & Family

Had great time at POS's, the food was delicious and service is great. Friendly staff who are helpful.

The rolling of this skirt steak is a tactic to make it look thick. Unroll it and it's a think piece of Palomilla‍

Their outdoor dining is limited to ONE server. Which makes it very hard to get their attention. Their $28 skirt steak with fries seems out of White Castle. Very thin, NOT QUALITY and not your typical skirt steak. Beware. It is disappointing to a meat lover. The penne a la vodka came cold. The steak quesadilla came with one side empty and one side meaty. The pitcher of water came with one glass even though we were a party of 4. So needed 4 glasses or I guess we would share? We had to ask for Utensils and plates. Basically for what they charge they lack attentiveness and service tactic. As customers, who want to support these small businesses, they make it very hard to give them praise or stars since they feel we owe them something. Not a good feeling. The only good thing I will say the drinks (Rum punch) was good, the decor was nice. Look else where. I have had their breakfast and it is much better. I have been a customer of Pop's for over 20 years even before it turned into Pop's Cocina. Sorry guys but spending over $200 I expect much better service.

They do not have entertainment every Friday. Only on occasions.

What time you guys serve mimosa?

They serve mimosas all day. But brunch mimosas are from 9-1pm

It was a…read moreSaturday around 10 p.m., and finding an open place to eat at that hour was not easy, so this felt like a practical option on the way home. I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.
