Papas huancaina / sliced boiled potatoes with yellow pepper sauce and hard boil eggs. Save the sauce for the Jalea;). Anticuchos marinated hearts in aji panca served with peruvian corn, totally delicious, tender and we asked for them to make them medium rare as if they are over cooked, they can get tough. Jalea , delicous fried seafood, shrimp, fish, The service is very attentive and they bring out food rather quickly as the restaurant was busy for dinner at 5:30pm on a Saturday evening. I can't believe how many times I passed by this little unassuming restaurant and had not tried it. Well this time I stopped in for dinner and what a great surprise. Impressive and clean restaurant decorated tastefully. If you have never experienced Peruvian food it's time and this is the place to try it. If you have tried Peruvian food and liked it you will love it at Ananau. I ordered Shrimp Ajillo which was so delicious and fresh. We also started with fried calamari and while I'm sure many of you have ordered this app one time or another I will tell you it was rare that any of your calamari dishes were this fresh , crunchy and tasty. Skirt steak with shrimp was a great surf and turf choice as well. The servers and bartender were extremely pleasant and attentive. The people working this restaurant truly appreciate each guest and do all they can to insure the experience is wonderful. Full bar and interesting special cocktails. Reservations a must. Came here for an event and I must say it's up there on my list of Peruvian spots in Long Island. The shrimp ceviche was delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. The Lomo Saltado was absolutely amazing, 10/5 I could eat this everyday. My boyfriend enjoyed his dishes, I don't remember the name of the appetizer but it was like a chicken salad - he enjoyed that very much. Then he ordered the bistec and he absolutely loved it as well as the dessert. The customer service was great, our waitress was very attentive. The ambiance was amazing, the restaurant is so lively, they had a live singer and he was great. We will definitely be back! read more

I love this little restaurant right by Costco Oceanside. The food is authentic and good. Service is on par also. We started with the ceviche, anticuchos and papa. The anticuchos (grilled beef heart) is one of the best I had. Tons of flavor and nice char to the meat. Tender and juicy. The table devoured it! The ceviche was fresh and had a nice tang. Perfect with a bit of the spicy red sauce they provided. The jalea and TALLARINES VERDES was also perfect. The only thing that was meh was the shrimps. Not that it was bad but the other stuff we ordered was so flavorful and fresh, it just did not compare. We also found that they have lunch specials so make sure to ask when you are there. read more

We tried this for the first time a few months ago. Don't expect rotisserie chicken! They do a fried chicken but I wasn't a fan of it. This is a personal opinion that may be biased as I love rotisserie and not fried. However, I do recommend their chaufa! The chicken/beef chaufa is absolutely tasty with loads of flavor and is a very hefty portion. Food was great, enjoyed how everything was seasoned. The anticuchos was a great start to the rest of the meal. My girlfriend loved the papa rellena. I ended up trying a bit of the tacu tacu as well as enjoying a plate of lomo saltado. Everything we had was a great experience and we will be taking our families here. Aside from the food we had a great time enjoying the music, especially the live performance. Really brought a great vibe while we enjoyed the night. Lastly the service was phenomenal. The staff were all friendly and helpful. My group ended up taking pictures with them as well. I've eaten in many Peruvian restaurants in NY. Pio-Pio, La Candela 1 and 2, La Jalea and others. This place, ANANAU...BEATS THEM ALL!! The food is delicious and the drinks, specially the Passion Mojito and the Sangria are very tasty and made to perfection. I highly recommend it. Special thanks to our server, Manuela. Today is officially #ThankYouThursday so I'd like to thank Ananau Peruvian Cuisine for an incredible dining experience this past Saturday. I came here on a complete whim with the girlfriend and was absolutely blown away by the shere energy of the place. From the outside, it appears as a quaint, unassuming little Peruvian joint, but as you step foot in the door you are transformed into a whole nother dimension of fun music, laughter, and delicious aromas. They had a karaoke host and DJ providing the entertainment for the evening and they really did a great job engaging with fellow patrons all night. Some people were actually very good on singers too! They played all the greatest Peruvian and Latin America classics and had everyone moving in their seats. On top of all that, the food was outstanding. I ordered the breaded chicken breast, which came with rice, fries and plantains. The portion was so generous that I took about half home. It was so darn good that I couldn't wait till the next day and had it as my midnight snack... woops! Shoutout to our server who was as friendly, accommodating and efficient as one could ask for! He really provided an exceptional experience from start to finish. It pains me that I am drawing a blank when trying to recall his name (I wrote it down, but alas, I lost the paper I write it on). I intended to take pics of everything but we ate it so fast. We got the fish ceviche; fresh, tart, good sized cuts, no weird pieces, thin and crunchy red onions, generous portion. Salchipapa: as expected, very good, served hot, salty, crispy. We also got the fried chicken which was seasoned perfectly and the steak with chimichurri. The steak came on a fajita like plate, sizzling, great sear on the outside- it was great alone but the chimichurri sauce was incredibly fresh, tart, heavy fragrant garlic. We also got the pisco sour and spicy Margarita both great. They have an amazing lunch special, we wanted to try a lot so we didn't order off of it but it's an excellent deal. Having the opportunity to visit a restaurant that has been on The List - and having it be a great experience, equals happy customer :) We had the shrimp ceviche to start, after reading the menu street placing the order I realized I *should * have home with the mixto ceviche so that will be ordered next time for sure. The shrimp ceviche was perfect, fresh and light, perfect and delicious. Entrees were the skirt steak and a dish of sea bass in a tomato based broth, both were fantastic. The staff was pleasant, attentive, and always smiling. There's definitely more on the menu I want to experience so I will return for sure. read more

Came here today for breakfast for Mother's Day. They had a ton of specials. We ordered a whole different arrangement. We got the lomo al jugo - was pretty good wish they didn't put as much soy sauce flavor. The caocao which was good. This is a hidden gem. I been driving by seemed like a hole in the wall bad location BUT even better Bly m for me made me want to try it. Everything from service to god and atmosphere is WOW !! I came here to celebrate my dads birthday because he always talks about the restaurant and how he loved it. It is in a little parking lot off of Austin Blvd and it looked like a little hole in the wall from the outside. However, when you walk in it's another world. The decorations are so cute with flowers, trees and string lights. It had authentic Peruvian decorations and they were blasting the salsa which my father loved. The place is small but it's spacious enough for about 35 people in the restaurant. We came on Tuesday around 6:15 PM ish so they had the happy hour special until 7 PM. My father ordered the red sangria and I had the Maracuya sour. Both drinks were so good and so cheap with the happy hour special! My dad ordered the lomo saltado, I ordered the chaufa de pollo and my sister ordered the sustancia soup ( because she couldnt eat solids due to oral surgery). Everything was so tasty and the service was so good. My dad said it was his birthday and they gave him a cake for free and sang to him with a sparkler cake which was nice. It made him feel special and I'm glad they did it. If you want to come here for lunch they have lots of lunch specials during the week which are affordable and come with alcohol! Please give this place a shot because it is affordable and very tasty with big portions. read more

They have a big parking lot and if it's full you can park also outside or near the restaurant without any problem Because it's located in a Safe Neighborhood. This place is almost like a hidden gem. This is the type of Peruvian place that is comparable of places you would get in the city or in queens, or even beats it. As far as Long Island is concerned its the best I've had thus far. What I like and enjoyed about this place was the service. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The jalea was excellent as well as the ceviche. I got the Lomo as well which was good however in my dish it had a few fatty parts of the steak. Overall I would give it a 4.5 I appreciate the fact that Ananau is serving great Peruvian dishes that is authentic at decent price point. Tried this restaurant for the first time today and it was excellent. The food was delicious and the staff were so nice. The lunch specials are so inexpensive. We were three people and our bill came out to $39. Not only did it come with a good amount of food (see my plate below) but it also came with soup and a passion fruit juice. Tried this place for the first time with my date. We both ordered the fish fillet and a special sauce with shrimp on top and rice. Both of us loved it! We had a little spice to it and the sauce was delicious. Service was excellent waitress took care of us was very nice and helpful. We sat outside because they had karaoke on Saturday night. This is where they lost a star. It was so freaking loud because it's a small restaurant. I had a small headache already so no way I could've sat inside and out the front door. It was so loud. I would definitely suggest calling ahead and making sure they don't have any music unless you want blaring loud music. read more
