I ordered take out. $35 and change for a whole delicious chicken with small beans and large rice. What a great deal. The chicken was flavorful. The little green sauces had a little kick to them and it was gooood. Rice was a little dry and the beans were cold, but nothing I can't heat up at home. A tad bit confusing when you come in since the door says Utopia. read more

Chevere Pollo A La Brasa - Whole chicken Chevere Combo # 2 - Peruvian Near Me - Freeport, New York

One of the best Peruvian rotisserie chicken I ever had. Stop in for lunch while at work. Pitch a bitch when the chic told me it would take 20mins for my order after I paid for it. But it only took bout 8 minutes. Chicken, fries and a salad. It was delicious. Hands down the best I've had. The bird had flavor. Fries crispy and hot. Fresh salad at a great price too bad I live so far away I would like to try dinner. read more

I'm thinking this might be my last time here. The new owners of "Utopia" must not have been able to keep the chef because the food is not as good. Last time food was dry and overcooked and this time the rice was undercooked (crunchy) and tasteless shrimp and under seasoned chicken. Gravely disappointed. read more

They have the best green sauce! Last night it was crazy spicy! Their full menu is available on UberEats, but I'm not sure what's happened with GrubHub: the restaurant name changed and the sides aren't available anymore. The full menu is on UberEats & under the same name. Love their chicken and green sauce read more

This is a very cozy Peruvian restaurant located in Freeport. The food is delicious with a diverse offering. They bring a snack of corn kernels which appear to be roasted. It is very delicious and hearty. The restaurant is quite cozy and there is plenty of seating to dine in. All of the waitresses were super efficient and more importantly, very pleasant. Give them a try. read more

I have to say this is my second time given them a try. The waitress was very nice but the chicken was juicy inside (great) but not much seasoning. Yellow rice was cold and hard. Not cook all the way. The beans had no flavor as well. Literally ate cause it was 4pm and had not eaten all day. Don't recommend if you like your food seasoned. If you eat low in salt this is for you... read more

My favorite thing to get is the ceviche mixtos (spicy) and white rice on the side. The quality and preparation of the fish, the vegetables and pine nuts they put in, it's so good. They're always so nice when I go to pick up my order. read more

Chevere Pollo A La Brasa - Ceviche Mixto - Peruvian Near Me - Freeport, New York

Had a really affordable and good lunch here with a party of 9 (5 adults and 4 toddlers). Walked in on a Sunday early afternoon, and the place was not busy at all. It's not a big place but they were able to accommodate my party of 9. We ordered 2 different chicken combos, a side of Maduros, and ceviche to share Since I'm pregnant, I didnt try the ceviche, but my sisters said it was good. We had 2 whole chickens to share. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The green sauce was delicious as well, and wasn't overwhelmingly spicy. My sister who doesn't like spice was able to tolerate it. The fries and sausage were decent. Our kids ate them. Maduros- sweet and pretty good. One of the combos came with a liter soda but we don't drink soda so we asked if we can replace it with juice. They said with a bit of a charge we can replace with passion fruit juice. The juice was ok. The kids seemed to like it. Overall we had a good filling meal that was pretty cheap. I would come back again if I was around the area read more

I was passing by Freeport, and decided to stop in to enjoy some Peruvian food. This place has a new name, Utopia, but still has the same chef (according to the employees). I've never been here before, so I wanted to try their food. The service was good.... the waitress was friendly, prompt, and knew the menu well. I ordered Pollo a La Brasa, and my friend ordered the Lomo Saltado.. it was good and tasty, but nothing spectacular. However, the sauces (aji verde, rocoto, ajo) could use a lot less salt. Also, the red wine option (Sutter Home) wasn't the best, & it had been refrigerated.... never chill red wine. read more

The chicken is kicken. Moist and delicious. Skirt steak and shrimp and whole red snapper also cooked to perfection. Will definitely be ordering again. Used thug-hub and everything travelled pretty well. I'm sure the skin on the fish and the French fries would have been better in-person. Hey restaurant- consider cutting a hole in the top of the fries and fish so they don't steam during delivery. All else perfect. read more

chicken is really good! I have been looking for a Peruvian place and this hits the spot close to home. Had the Combo #1 and the chicken was juicy with lots of flavor. The green sauce was perfect with the chicken and the dressing for the salad was tasty as well. Will def be back! read more

The food is great but the fact that they include the tip when handing the bill is not what should be. A tip is something the customer decides to give and how much, tips are NOT mandatory! It really left a bad taste, truly disappointed. read more

The food was phenomenal! I ordered take out. Got the combo which included chicken, fries, and salad. The chicken was fresh and crispy. I also got a huge order of calamari which was cooked to perfection! The green aji sauce at this place is spicy and has a nice consistency to it! The staff was nice and service was quick. Definitely will be stopping by again to try more dishes! I love a good place with authentic Peruvian food & this place hits the spot!! Only thing I might add is they are a tad bit pricey compared to other Peruvian restaurants but I'll support this business! Highly recommend. read more

I had every intention of giving this restaurant 5 stars. The chicken, rice and beans - spot one. The maduros are next level! Amazing food. This is my family spot when we are in the mood of a good rotisserie chicken. My girls love their tostones, yuca grits and of course the chicken. They have very good sea food and a delicious lomito encebollado. A+ read more

This review is for Delivery and sustenance, both of which were A++ Delivery: prompt. We were ravenous. They said 20 minutes and they meant it. Awesome Our order: tostones and chicken (co worker couldn't stop raving about how juicy and flavorful the chicken was. I snagged 1 tostone and it was perfect I had the Lomo Salteado... Portion was over- generous, it took me a-go-back-for-more to finish it (and it wasn't that I was still hungry, I just wanted to taste it again!) Working in Freeport means options are limited to delivery for lunch and Chevere is definitely going to get our order frequently! read more

Got the Millennium Combo #2 (whole chicken with rice and beans, $17). Not bad flavor, but slightly salty. Chicken was cooked well but not overly juicy. Rice was a little sad since it came in a short but wide rectangular styrofoam takeout box, so when you open it, just a wide spread of plainness. Beans were a miss for me - salty, too whole (if that makes sense), just sitting in liquid. Usually like it at least half mushed and less liquid. Desperately needed some greens - wasn't balanced. ~ Was craving some Peruvian rice and chicken, and found this place on Yelp. Was trying to decide between the quarter chicken special (1/4 chicken with choice of rice & beans, or fries & salad for $7.50), or one of the whole chicken combos (same options as 1/4 chicken except with a whole chicken for $17). Was slightly confused about the contents of the salad from the menu - the picture of the combo had a salad with sliced avocado on top, but the picture of the quarter chicken meal had a picture of salad without avocado... but I'm guessing the missing avocado was not a mistake. Ended up going with the whole chicken with the rice and beans (Millennium Combo #2) but hated having choosing between the sides. Wished they had a combo that offered the rice & beans AND fries and salad. (I know I could've just ordered the sides separately; most of their sides cost $3.50, and rice and beans count as separate sides so not sure if it'd would've been with it.).. or at least made the rice and beans one side, and had it come with a salad. Sent the husband in and had him order. He said there was only one waitress working, but he said she was nice and he didn't have to wait too long to order. Our food was ready in about 10-15 mins. We ate everything at home about 20 mins later. The rice was cold but the chicken was still somewhat warm. At first glance, the beans, which came in a small plastic container, looked different than I was used to. It was whole beans just sitting in liquid. The rice came in a short and wide styrofoam container, so when you open it, it's a little disappointing since it's just a wide spread of plain whiteness. I think it would've been better if it came in a smaller container.. maybe something that was airtight so it could've been at least lukewarm. Not sure if they give you a bigger portion of rice when you order it as a side (rather than with a combo) but I don't think it would've been worth $3.50.. (I had thought a bit about value of the combo vs meal since a whole chicken with no sides is $12, so you're saving just $2 by ordering the combo.) The chicken came in a taller styrofoam container, and was cut into quarters and smelled really good. I ended up taking the skin off the chicken since it was too salty for me.. though I generally don't eat chicken skin anyway (blasphemy, I know) - most of the skin still had a layer of fat so meh. Some of the flavor had penetrated the chicken itself so it was fine. The chicken was cooked well - the dark meat was of course juicier, the white meat was borderline - could've been a bit juicier.. but still a lot better than anything I could've made. The rice was hard to pick up with the fork since it was cold and dry so the morsels basically fell apart. Really needed the rice here though, since the beans were so salty. Not sure if they soaked the beans (long enough) since my husband, who always eats a lot more than I do, tooted all night long lol, so that was a nice surprise. Wasn't fan of the texture as mentioned above - I actually ended up mashing half the beans which made it a lot better. Was an ok meal overall. I've definitely had better, but this satisfied the craving. read more

Although the food was okay, the service was complete garbage; they got three orders wrong; they served one dish at a time. On top of that they brought out the main course like 2 seconds after they brought out the appetizers.(these are the new owners as of 2/24/20) The old owners were great they never messed up my order; they would bring out the appetizers as well as the main course all at once we had no problems at all. Just got my dish after 30 minutes after the rest of my family got theirs and they didn't even get the dish right they completely got it wrong. Literally burger king would be better than waiting 30 minutes for an order that isn't even right never coming back, if you like Peruvian food please go to the millennium chicken in valley stream. Trust me you would have a way better time there than wasting your time in this dump. read more

The food is usually really good. My last and most recent visit to this restaurant is what has caused me to no longer frequent Chevere. When I came across this quaint restaurant, I was ready to claim this as my go to spot for Peruvian food. I always ordered to go. The first time, the food was spot on. The second time, the food was ok, the chicken was a bit dry, but it was still good. My last visit here eliminated any chance of me ever coming back. I always order the special with the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. As I was waiting, I happed to look towards the back where the guy who was cutting up the vegetables was located. What I saw completely made me reconsider even paying for my order, but I didn't order any salad or anything, so I stuck with it. The guy in the back began to cut up the vegetables, he had no gloves on and I'm not even sure if he washed his hands, but he looked at the knife he was using. I guess he saw something on it and instead of washing it off or using something clean to wipe it off, he had the nerve to wipe it on his black shirt like it was nothing. That just completely turned me off and made me look at things differently. So yeah, I won't be coming back. EVER! I definitely would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone. read more

The food is delicious! I had the fried rice with mixed seafood. The dish had tons of flavor and the sauce added even more depth to the dish. I liked the usage of various onions to add savoriness and sweetness. The service was quick and friendly. I thought it was a bit expensive at $19 excluding tax and tip. It seemed like their delivery business was quite busy. read more

I found Chevere on Yelp when my favorite Peruvian restaurant was too busy to accept take-out orders. I'm glad I did! Far too expensive for the serving size and quality of food. Paid 50 dollars for rice and potatoes, barely any meat on the dish. Ok so ive ordered from Chevere several times before but my last order i had to leave a review. I typically order ceviche de camarones which has A LOT of shrimp, corn, red onion and other things and is delicious. However, i recently ordered a whole chicken, ceviche, chicken soup and salad. The restaurant immediately called me and stated they didnt have chicken soup but i didnt answer my phone so they refunded. When i had called back, the woman was very friendly and offered different options of soup so i went with the beef soup which i had never had. Everything was so delicious but the beef soup was PHENOMENAL. The beef was cut very small but there was plenty and no gooey fat on any of the pieces. The flavor was amazing, not salty and just full of flavor. I absolutely love this place, their service and food is to die for. read more

I ordered food from Chevere A La Brasa tonight off seamless. I got the whole chicken, a salad, and the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. The food came very fast, less than 30 minutes and was nice and hot when it got to the door. The delivery driver was very polite - another plus! The salad was nice and fresh, not wilted at all. They gave plenty of dressing on the side. The chicken was delicious! Nice and juicy, with tremendous flavor. The rice and beans were also delish and they included this green sauce that had so much flavor. All in all, quick delivery and nice generous portions.
