Now this is my idea of good Peruvian food. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. There was a street fair right outside, but that didn't deter other patrons from coming in and the place was nearly full. We were seated immediately and brought menus. We sat close to the counter and the kitchen. Prime location if you ask me! We were often checked on and our food came out very quickly. I ordered the Peruvian grilled chicken. It was paired with an avocado salad and fried potato. The salad was good. Had iceberg, carrots, cabbage, radishes, and tomatoes (which I omitted,) with a few slices of avocado. The dressing was addicting, to say the least. I kept taking the pieces of delicious, moist, tender grilled chicken, and putting it in top of the salad with the yummy dressing. It was soooo good. Portion was huge. I barely made a dent in it. My boyfriend ordered the anticuchos (sorry about the spelling) also known as beef hearts. They were very good. He also ordered the potatoes covered in cheese, which he always orders at Peruvian restaurants, and he loved it. Lunch for two, with leftovers, came to $33. Came here after work with my wife and daughter. I was very hungry. It was 15 minutes before closing as per their advertised hours. I would have been happy to sit and eat or take to go. All the lights were on. Big neon signs lit OPEN. There were several PEOPLE SITTING AT TABLES EATING. When I walked in, a lady very quickly said sorry we're closed. This restaurant has great food, I've never had an issue with their food BUT I was charged a different price than on the menu, gratuity was included for 2 ppl and a service fee charge for credit card (we were paying cash) was added. When I asked the waitress her response was, not all the menus had been changed to reflect the new price and they weren't going to charge the credit card fee. I never give a small business one star because I know how detrimental it can be to them. However, I cannot stand their shady business practices anymore. Their chicken is very good, I will give them that. However, the owner (the older lady who is always behind the counter) is RUDE and scams you. If you're not Hispanic, she will barely acknowledge you. Meanwhile, she is always saying "Gracias, buenas noches" to everyone who is leaving who is Hispanic. If you go for takeout, she will just tell you the total and won't give you a receipt. The total is always more than what it should be based on the menu, including tax. Then last night I ate in with my friend, and when I looked over the bill I saw that they automatically included gratuity. Then when the waitress gave me my credit card back, she took away the main receipt so I would be fooled into adding more tip on the merchant copy of the credit card receipt. Since moving from queens, we have tried a few Peruvian spots in the area, Super Pollo is by far the best place for authentic Peruvian chicken in the area. The food is tasty and fresh. I have eaten here twice this summer, take out both times as a friend lives nearby. Oh My God, so Good!!!! The restaurant is very nice, clean, small bar, street parking and no delivery (bummer). Quarter white chicken, with white rice and beans are absolutely delicious. They also give you a white and green sauce to dip, again both are amazing, green is a little spicy. After trying multiple generic chicken spots (both Spanish and Greek) to mixed response, we were thrilled when we stumbled on Super Pollo. Delicious Peruvian rotisserie chicken, great "green sauce," fantastic beans, and authentic Peruvian desserts. Personally I thought the purple pudding was a little sweet for my tastes, but the garlic sauce for the tostones more than balanced out our meal! There was no sign stating that tip was being included in the bill. When I ask the owner, she acted like she did not hear or understand me. Peruvian food is the best and unfortunately, we haven't had much luck finding Peruvian restaurants since moving out to LI, especially that compare to Pio Pio in Queens. We were super excited to try Super Pollo and since finding out about it, we have tried both sit-down and take out. The chicken is super delicious- well seasoned and moist. With the family combo, that we usually get, the yellow rice is okay, nothing out of the world, but unfortunately, I have found the beans to be a bit bland and hard. Salad was typical iceberg with two tomatoes and two cucumbers, while the plantains were also okay. They are better when eaten at the restaurant. The greens sauce was defnitely green. bit some batches ahve been too spicy for my liking and lacks Pio Pio's creaminess. Overall, I would give Super Pollo's pollo a 4.5, rest of the combo a 3. Despite the potential of Super Pollo, what really is the place's debbie downer, is customer service. When we've eaten at the restaurant and walked in, it often seems like customers are an inconvenience rather than welcomed. The lady owner seems upset about 80 percent of the time and trying to get a smile from her is almost impossible. Take out has been a hot mess too. We called in an order and the girl who picks up the phone was not a joy and rarely asks for a name for pick up, so when you go in to get your food, they seemed annoyed you are there. I would suggest to the staff to brighten up! You have the opportunity to have something special, why mess it up with such a poor attitude. Went tonight and got the "#3 combo"... a whole rotisserie chicken, tostones, salchipapa, avocado salad, beans & rice for just $24 -- it's enough food for 4-5 hungry people. Let's start with the food, then my overall opinion... I got a Chaufa de Pollo, basically tasted like Chinese fried rice with veggies, chicken and egg. I didn't feel like being fussy but they should be more specific on their description of what a chaufa is. It simply stated chicken, veggies and fried rice but it did not state egg. Wasn't happy with that. I don't like to mix eggs with rice. I did like my drink.... Chicha Morada. It's water and sweet purple corn. Yes, purple corn. No, it's not gross. It has a little cinnamon taste to it. Reminded me of Christmas. Very gentle drink. For dessert I got Chicha Morada Pudding. Self explanatory. It was served in a small plastic container and had tiny pieces of random fruit in it. The pudding had a gel like consistency. Looked like jam actually. It tasted ok. I could easily make it at home too and charge $3 for it. My friend ordered a Alfajore which is a sugar powered sandwich cookie with dulce de leche in the middle. We didn't really like it. I've had alfajores before but this one tasted really bland. The dulce de leche was pretty dry too. Dulce de leche should typically be creamy. If youre hispanic or in general, if you've eaten Alfajores in your life, this one would be a sad Alfajore. :( My honest opinion... Our server was very attentive. Prices were inexpensive. Portions were decent. But the food was pretty basic. It wasn't bad but it wasn't impressive or anything special that would make me want to come back and try something new. The stars are mainly for the server and his attentiveness. In addition because the price and portions were reasonable . But the flavors of the food were too simple. I love this Peruvian spot in the middle of E. Rockaway. The portions are huge and everything tastes great. The rotisserie chicken is cooked so well - juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. One of my personal favorites no matter where I go is the soft fried plantains (maduros) and they're delicious here too. I've always ordered the chicken combos #2 and #3 that come with maduros, fries/hot dogs, tostones (double fried plantains) and/or rice and beans. All of the combos come with a crisp avocado salad. The green sauce makes everything better and fear not, it's not as spicy as you might find at other Peruvian chicken places. Not as spicy but still packing a ton of flavor. The only negative is they don't deliver. There's usually enough street parking in the area so picking up shouldn't be an issue but delivery would always be a nice commodity. Overall: 4.5 read more

When I called to ask if I could purchase two pieces of grilled chicken they informed me I must buy the meal that feeds two. They explained everything is already made for portions and must be heated up per order. First of all, why aren't things made fresh? Second of all, you're telling me you don't have an extra two pieces in which I can purchase a side order? When I asked if I could substitute for an up charge they laughed and informed me this is impossible. How is this impossible? You can't give me French fries instead of rice and charge me an extra two dollars? This place is ridiculous. Thought Super Pollo was great - and I say this as someone from Miami, where we have excellent Peruvian food. The anticuchos were excellent. Tender. Had that great organ-y, somewhat metallic taste on the backend. The chicken was great as well, flavorful even without the addition of the green sauce (which is also very good). I was a bit disappointed in the "avocado salad." Turns out this was just a regular salad with iceberg lettuce and a couple tiny slices of avocado on top. Great value here. read more

Completely disgusted with the service received, came here with family for a Baptism reception, the bill came out to 850 flat,200 of that was tip, which the girl who works there didn't even deserve, the attitude she had was disgusting, when asked for a break down of the bill, to check that the price were accurate, all we got was a notebook page with writing on it which didn't even has the prices we were charged or anything... when trying to figure things out, the waiters was rude and arrogant, talking about how she is loosing money... mind you 20% gratuity was added,besides that she was trying to make it seem like we were mistaken/wrong. I went here for my boyfriends family party with a bunch of Peruvians. They allowed us to have a Peruvian band come and play. Their service was excellent (would definitely recommend having a party here). They made us feel at home and were very attentive and sweet. All the food was delicious and huge portions. I've been here with my family also who rave about this place. I've ordered the stuffed avocado for lunch recently and it was sooo good!
