The most amazing Spanish food that I've ever eaten. Me, my wife and my two children have eaten out of there a dozen times. My Son loves the steak and chicken with fried rice. The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful, it looks like a lounge with dim blue lights, full bar and fancy booths. There was also live music playing which was a great touch. We ordered a jalea which is a mix of fried seafood topped off the red onions. It was crunchy and perfectly fried and very fresh. We also ordered their mixed arroz chaufa which is rice with mixed meats, it was delicious. We also ordered their ceviche mixto which is a mix of seafood in a lime sauce which was also very fresh and tasty. One of my favorite things was the choros a la chilaca which was mussels topped off with tomato and onions and lemon, the taste was incredible. Their drinks are really strong and tasty. Came here last week to have lunch with my cousins and decided to sit outside since it was a nice day. The food was delicious, on the pricey side for the dishes but still very flavorful. The coconut mojito was really refreshing and I was tempted to order another. The only thing I would say that needs work is the customer service. We had sat outside for about 20 minutes before being asked if we wanted drinks and then waited more before getting water. Tried the pisco sour flight and omg it was great portions and the drinks were strong but good. For appetizers, ordered the fish ceviche and the jalea (fried seafood). Both are a solid choice. Main dish was the shrimp arroz chaufa (shrimp fried rice Peruvian style). Food was really good. Service was good. They had good music playing as well. After thrift shopping in Hempstead for fun and my aunt's birthday, we spontaneously agreed to eat at a very colorful and lit up restaurant across the street called La candela II. I was at first thinking it was going to be too loud, but the servers summed up the situation quickly and put my ancient aunt and I in a quiet area with full view of the bar and seating area. We drank Chicha Peruana a purple beverage that really quenched our thirst. We had a cold potato appetizer and grilled trout surrounded by potatoes and veg and flowers. Pretty and really well prepared. We ordered desserts, flan and a a slice of "Dulce de leche" cake. With a nod from me they sang and clapped and blew bubbles and put a very impressive sparkling candle on her cake. The flan was outstanding. She ate every bite of her cake. I was delighted to get 5 star service (it was a quiet night) and good, clean, fresh food. The visuals were fun. read more

As you know this use to be my favorite Peruvian Restaurant. They have upgraded the ambiance. Everything looks great except for the blue lighting that shines on your food. Aesthetically the blue lights are pretty however when you're eating and it looks like something is in your food and you're looking for bright light to make sure the blue light isn't very helpful. They also changed the hotdog they use for their salchipapa. Salchipapa is a peruvian staple of appetizers. They switch to some chicken or turkey hotdog that destroys the whole Salchi papa experience. Please switch back to all beef hotdogs. read more

I came here with a group of girlfriends on a random Tuesday night, and expected the place to be pretty empty, but the place was packed! They had a table reserved for us, but admittedly the place felt like folks were sitting on top of each other, even though they had a whole second side of seating they weren't using. Our group also ordered the jalea to start, and it was pretty good, a little greasy, and a little salty, but good! Our group ordered a few different things including the pasta, steak, salchipapas, and arroz chaufa. I found the food to be unimpressive, and just average. The upsetting thing was how stingy they were with the aji verde! That is the key to all good food at a peruvian restaurant IMHO! The portions were quite large, prices were decent, but I don't think I'd visit again, as the food wasn't anything special. Delicious When my mom daughter and I were there last we enjoyed outdoor seating. Little awkward since it's on the street in front of the restaurant but the half a dozen or so tables were under a tent. Each table had hand sanitizer and the service was as good as usual. We love love love the jaleha. It has shrimp mussels fish and it's so good! It's a huge platter. The three of us shared it no problem. And we tell my daughter the fish is chicken and she's good to go. Honestly I had a mixed experience here being torn between three and four stars - I went with 4 because we had excellent fun service, a large mound of delicious fried seafood in a colorful festive environment. All and all pretty good. Getting the things I didn't like out of the way - The Piqueo Candela app, I didn't care much for the quality of the meat in this app with many pieces being a bit too chewy, tough and overly salted. It consisted of steak, chicken, tripe, sausage and one other. I did like the large corn pieces (chocolo). Cool flame in the middle too! We had two pitchers of red Sangria, and besides being a little too sweet it hardly registered a buzz with any of us where other places' would have everyone in my family feeling happy. The Jalea is one dish to come for if you are a seafood lover - a large mound of various fried seafood - calamari, mussels, shrimp, fish topped with marinated onion, tomatoes and corn. Thankfully the waiter advised us to get for 2 instead of the 4 version - it was plenty for 3 big eaters and my mom who just picked. It came with some mayo on the side, but I prefer the aji verde (green sauce) on the table to dip into. The service was all class - Edwin, was our server and a total gentleman. Handled our non-Spanish speaking selves without issue, took care of everything we needed with a smile and answered all our questions. He even escorted us, and held the door when we left with a "good night!" and hope to see us again soon with the feeling being mutual. I'm very impressed with this place and its food. It's trendy and beautiful on the inside, and it also has outdoor seating adjacent to the street, but also very nice. The staff is all amiable and tentative. I ordered the mix combo fried rice with chicken and beef, which was delicious considering it's not Japanese. The beef is a bit chunky, but it's okay; I would have preferred the old fashion method of thinly sliced meat that has more flavor. My sons had the streak, and they said it was delicious, and that's coming from picky teenagers with food.
