In and out just the way I like it when I come to visit the in laws. Not only am I buying for myself but I'm buying for them. The quality of the food- whether it's taste or texture Genesis never disappoints. The dining area could get a lil crowded but believe me there is an abundance amount of food available. The servers excel at customer service; patient and dedicated. There is a dining are where you could quickly enjoy your meal and there is a larger dining area where you could sit in with a larger group. I believe prices are decent, affordable for the amount of food they serve. Definitely a place to try out if you're looking to try something new or just can't figure out to have chicken or salmon for lunch or dinner. read more

Okay so I literally just finished eating my meal! I was scrolling through yelp to find a good spot for pupusas and Genesis restaurant popped up on my radar. I ordered the pork & cheese pupusas and bean & cheese pupusas as well as a sweet plantain because I love plantains ‍. The pupusas were stupendous! I have eaten plenty of pupusas and these by far are the best I've ever had! I will definitely be ordering some more very soon! read more

Have been here countless times. Great atmosphere. They have two sides a Restraunt for dine in and quiet atmosphere, and the main side has a buffet style food selection with first come first serve seating. You can call ahead to have your food ready. The portions are pretty big so the prices can vary. They have half chicken, whole chicken, chicken kebab, and you can choose to get it with 2 sides those range from $10-$16 a plate. If you ask for rice it's ALOT of rice they give you. The rice is good but the yellow rice is not my favorite. The plantains are usually really good, refried beans are good. Not a fan of the "Chow Mein" looks too greasy and lacking in flavor so don't be too hopeful on that, edible yes. They have fresh orange juice that they squeeze in front of you and other "natural" juices. They are just fruit extract with water that they keep in a fridge ready. But be ready those are pricey. $5 minimum for the smallest size I believe. Pupusas aren't typical, they are really big but cost effective $2.50 each the flavor can't compare to traditional pupusas but if you don't know or don't care they're good. They have two types of ribs and those are good. Anything shrimp will be expensive so be prepared as well. Despite being located in a fishing port town they charge $$ for those little shrimp be it kabab or whatever. But they are very good. They have tortillas and different soups. The beef soup is very good despite them only giving you one piece of meat for the small soup and 2 for the big one. I believe that comes with rice and a lime for about $12- $14. They have seafood soup which is SO good and definitely worth it for the price. They'll occasionally have mondongo soup and the flavor is definitely there but again maybe not so traditional. They have breakfast which is slightly different. You can order baliadas at any time and they are made pretty much as good as any Honduran spot you'll find,you can ask for the grilled chorizo whole in the baliadas and they are SO good. If you go in the Restraunt side you can see more of their menu but they can make burgers and chicken tenders, tacos, horchata. The customer service needs some work as most of the staff mainly speaks Spanish and the younger staff can be a bit negligent to the customers needs and wants. The Chinese looking guy is AN ABSOLUTE UNIT. He's like a machine running on all cylinders 24/7. It's like watching an airplane with 3 failing engines and that last engine can compensate for all the mess ups of the others. I wish he were more vocal and spoke better English bc he is beyond capable of running that whole place by himself if he had no choice. He needs a raise! The younger guys are a bit puffed up and need to learn that the customer is always right even when they're not and be humble to whoever walks through the door. The Chinese guy tells you when you're wrong but does it only when necessary but the young guys will fight you at each question and but. The owners are great and when they are there the place runs on a whole different level. The young guys shut up and they'll being at the helm makes you feel some welcomed and joyful. They are Christians and always have Christian music playing but it does not take away at all from the great atmosphere. You can tell they truly care about their business. I'm sure the daily lines can say a thing or too about how they have something that always gets the people coming back. They have been in service for a very long time now. For one the portions here are HUGE!!! You definitely get your moneys worth and More. Second the food is AMAZING! I've eaten here maybe 4-5 times now and I have never been disappointed with anything I've chosen. I always get the Yellow vegetable rice and a side ( usually String Beans or Roasted Potatoes) and a protein, which has been the 1/2 Grilled Chicken, Fried Shrimp or Grilled Salmon. What a great place ! It's like a mini restaurant for amazing rotisserie wood grilled takeout . Not really a deli ! They are experts at making skirt steak , T-bone steak , and chicken . I was recommended by a Christian friend of mine to try their food and I loved it! I love their food and most of the staff is friendly except for one of their employees. From what I heard his name is Carlos. He is very rude to the customers and even with the staff (cause he was talking very rude to one of the employees in front of the customers). He has a very nasty attitude. People would assume since it's supposed to be a "Christian" restaurant the employees will try their best not to take out their anger on their customers. Especially now with this coronavirus thing going on. He didn't do anything to me but I saw how he pretty much humiliated a lady who was in the line waiting for her food. I've never eaten something here that did not live up to my (very high) expectations. Next time you need some food, stop at this gem and get something to go. And don't forget one or two pupusas! If you enter from the left doors closest to the corner, you walk into a cafeteria-style place, with a line to walk at the counter and cafeteria-style tables to sit. There is also an actual restaurant attached to it, though I've never dined in that section. You can call your order in ahead of time, or just show up and decide what you want based on what they've got displayed. If you don't see something, ask. They may not have had room to display it or there may be more coming out in a minute. They take both cash and credit/debit, though there is a minimum for cards, I believe it's a $10 minimum. The one thing I loved and was impressed with was the drink, it was amazingly delicious. I would definitely visit again. This is a great salvadorian spot nestled in Freeport. It has to die for roasted chicken, yellow rice, steak, Papusas and fish! All cooked to perfection. Ive had papusa's before. However, this recent visit to this restaurant made me regret eating papusa's again. Before I even ordered we waited at least 20 minutes before someone asked to even place our order. Granted I should have left. I don't know why I didn't. I decided to give them a chance. I ordered papusa with chicken cabbage and tomato sauce. The chicken was the only thing that I ate. The chicken was very juicy and had lots of flavor and crispy. On the other hand the pupusa was not all that great. It was a bit soggy due to the cabbage and tomato sauce that was placed on top of it causing it to be very damp and tasteless. The cheese in the papusa made it very salty. Yelp-pers In case your not to sure of what a papusa is I'll explain. It's a type of dough or flour made from rice which is then taken and stuffed with chopped pork, cheese, beans, zucchini, and other types of vegetables. When I asked if my papusa can be stuffed the server told me no because it will take 15 minutes to stuff it. What! My response should have been to walk out of the store but I was hungry. If that's how the papusa is supposed to be designed and created then why stop me from engaging and enjoying that experience. Honestly I don't think that I'll be eating at this place again. The only thing that saved this place from getting 1 star was the chicken. read more
