Food was really good. There is a free parking lot around the corner. Prices are reasonable and you do get a good bit of food. There are no fountain drinks so you will need to pay for any additional drinks you want. They do have a bar as well if you want a little adult beverage. read more

El Sabor Dominicano - Plátanos limpios y buenos - Latin American Near Me - Freeport, New York

This happened many years ago & I haven't eaten there since. I bought 2 pans of baked chicken and it wasn't cooked all the way. Wasted my money and time. read more

I used to buy Sabor Dominicano a lot a few years back, It was always a great experience and food was delicious, unfortunately I can't say the same anymore. The rice was dry and tasteless, it had a consistency as if it was from the day before and I picked up at 4:30 pm, chicken was ok but the beans were watery and tasteless as if tgey just open a can of beans and put it in a plastic container, and last but not least I walked in and there was a lady at the register paying and a gentleman been served at the counter, staff did not even made eye contact, I waited a little bit by the pick up station and girls were going in and out of the kitchen without making eye contact or even asking if I was been helped, one more person came into the restaurant and I decided to speak up and ask for my order and they were not even sure if it was my order because they kept asking among themselves (4 waitresses) who has prep my order, at the end one handed it to me and said this is your check it to make sure it is what you order because I don't know. This is my last time going to this place, it is definitely not what it used to be and if they don't take care of the complaints but mostly their staff, food quality and customer service I don't think will be in business for a longer period of time which is a shame because they used to be the #1 Dominican restaurant. read more

This spot is really one the best Dominican restaurants hands down! So authentic & delicious. They have messed up a few of my orders via Doordash, but every-time I physically go to the restaurant or order on the phone it is perfection. Ambiance is very laid back & authentic as well. read more

I order from here on door dash I have never been to actual location. I normally order rice beans tostones and chicharrones (chicken). I think the chicken is in consistent and sometimes I can't get enough and other times it is just okay. I think fairly priced read more

They do not disappoint. I've been coming for ages and we still drop by for some take out once in a while. Their red beans are the best!! Everything else is pretty good. Customer service is always quick and efficient. read more

Very much enjoyed take out tonight. Purnil, garlic shrimp, plantains, San cancho soup, rice and beans, white rice, avocado, salad, oxtail, all the goodies. Food wasn't too over seasoned which I appreciated. I'm happily adding whatever spice I want. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the dining room looked incredible. The French dressing was great! As was the garlic sauce. It's the minced stuff I believe from the jar. I'll order again. They didn't have any rotisserie chicken ready so I'll get that next time. read more

Chicken I thought was a little dry. But I've eaten here before I love their Arroz Con Pollo. Everything looks fresh and tastes fresh too. Reasonable prices. Every time I visit Freeport I order here. read more

I decided to give this place another try for breakfast. The meat that we ordered was extremely dry even with sauce, my boyfriend struggled to eat it and I refused to. The tostones tasted fine we had to add salt. The fried cheese tasted great and mangu needed salt as well. I ordered double fried cheese since I don't eat eggs. Unfortunately the food was cold. I do prefer the breakfast over the dinner. read more

Horrible ....the food is horrible! They were the best in Freeport but not any more. Rice always taste burnt... food is very dry ! No flavor in roasted chicken read more

The customer service is terrible, they're very rude & not welcoming at all. The chicken was dry with no flavor. The yellow rice had no flavor either. So disappointed read more

This is strike three. Previously I enjoyed their food and the price was right. Last time I ordered from Doordash, and I received mystery meat which was dry and cut up, the item was suppose to be pork chop, a hard pass on this, went into trash. I ordered Dominican cake and they sent carrot instead, again this is a problem. Now tonight, using Uber Eats, I order a large boneless chicken chunks for $16.99. I look in the bag and I don't see the beans and white rice that I get when I order the small boneless chicken chunks. After a phone call, I'm told that, get this, with the large order you don't get the beans with white rice, so in essence, I just paid more to get less. Very last time they will be getting my money. They are not the only game in town, I'm moving on. read more

Horrible!!! They gave me bean sauce for my mofongo. The pernil has absolutely no flavor, not even salt. The beans taste like there's no salt as well. I also asked for yellow rice, they gave white. I paid over $60 for my order. I've been doing my part by supporting local businesses but you have to give people proper food. They were so much better months ago where I got actual stew sauce for my mofongo than this tomato crap I received. I'm so dissatisfied and disappointed. Never again. read more

Average Dominican food. I wanted to give this place one more star because their mofongo was sooo good. However, the rest of the food was just average. We came here on a Tuesday at around 4 and we ordered a mofongo made of chicharrón, skirt steak with rice and beans, and sautéed steak with rice beans. The food was just average, don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all but it definitely didn't give me a wow effect. The prices here are also average. The skirt steak dish is about $19 and the reg steak was $15, the mofongo was around $10 but it was larger than average. I would def recommend this place if you're looking for a good mofongo. I would try their dessert and homemade juices next time I'm around. Overall the place is def outdated and could use some remodeling. It has more of like a diner feel, the owner did say he was in the process of doing some remodeling, hopefully we will get to see this next time we visit. read more

Decided to visit this place because of the reviews and the location -- it was close to my doctor's office. Well, I will not return. It was just okay. I am used to Spanish food with flavor. This food had absolutely no flavor. I understand that many restaurants want to decrease their use of salt...but would you please add a bit of sazon or sofrito?! The food "looks" appetizing but it is very bland. I will say that the roast pork was the best (for lack of a better word) out of everything I tried...if you order it make sure they give you plenty of the juices from the roast pork on top of the meat to keep it juicy. The plus...the women were very friendly and understood my Spanglish! Lol! Do I recommend: No. -- sorry read more

Great Dominican Restaurant with a big menu and good prices. Just make sure when you do decide what you want that you have a back up order just incase the don't have what you originally want. First I ordered the Stew Feet which they didn't have so then I ordered the Stew Oxtail which they didn't have. Then I ordered the Arroz con Pollo with a side of plantain. Both were delicious and portions were enough for 2 people. Being i've been to several Latin spots in Freeport El Sabor would have to be my favorite. Just watch out when ordering because like someone else had mentioned in their review, the waitress will up sale you things thats not included in your dish. read more

The soups make a great meal. I haven't eaten anything there that wasn't delicious. Try their oxtail and rotisserie chicken. Village parking is just 1/2 a block away, they accept credit cards, and even cater, but you must call in advance. read more

Friends brought me here. Funny, I've lived in this area when I was younger for many years and have not tried this spot. The food was pretty good. It was kind of like going to a Spanish friend's house and their mother cooked for you. It just felt kind of homeish but in a diner setting. IDK how to describe it... It was the staff, they were very polite and just made you feel comfortable. I plan to visit again and try more food before I give a list of grub I've tried.... For me, based on this being my 1st time here... this is a spot worth going to if you are in the area. read more

I went to el sabor this morning around 11am for lunch. The young lady that had her hair up in a bun was not very welcoming or helpful. I had asked her what they had on the menu for lunch and she gave me a lot of attitude. I would have understood had I been aggressive with her or mean, but I just asked normally. I had to ask her several times because she wasn't as responsive. I then decided that I would stay to eat there instead of taking the food out. She seemed really upset at this. I asked her for a glass of water and she just brought me a bottle. At that point, I didn't even bother correcting her because I was nervous that she would have an angry outburst and I did not want the bad energy. The food lacked flavor, the pollo al orno was very very dry. I honestly wouldn't have even giving a rating at all if it wasn't because her behavior was uncalled for. I have worked in the restaurant business for a long time, and people like that should not be waiters. Your problems should stay at the door when you come in to work. The customers should not have to deal with your own personal issues. The decor is really nice at the very least. There are other much better Dominican spots in Freeport that I would recommend over this. read more

Amazing location with great food. They go above your request. It's a family based business

Would give zero stars if i could!! The owner is not helpful whatsoever! I was charged twice for a meal and when i told the employee she said it didn't go through. I showed her the bank transactions and i also showed the owner and he said it didn't go through lol. Like i just showed you the bank transactions. I can care less about the money, its the fact that you arguing with me over $14 lol. Like really man, as a business owner you prefer $14 over a costumer that may possibly come on the regular. Aside from that my non Spanish speaking friend was denied help because he didn't speak Spanish. Save your time and money, there are other Dominican restaurants that provide better service and better tasting food. read more

I have been patronizing this establishment since my daughter was a baby and she is now 29 years old. They did have a new management take over and the prices are higher but the quality of food is still the same. Most of the regular staff are gone sadly because they knew me by name and spoke English. The younger staff may speak English but do not have proper etiquette in serving which is understood with new management.I've never seen nor smelled any roaches or mice that everyone seems to be claiming is crawling around during broad daylight in the centers near food trays. It is always very clean and there's never a wait. I think the new management changed the tipping for the workers so no one really seems to want to earn a fair tip anymore. I come for the food and familiarity in the neighborhood and can overlook rude staff members. Hope management reads this and trains their staff better. read more

Ordered food From here last night with my girlfriend, we got the shrimp in garlic sauce and the chicken and rice everything was great

Awesome food and service, not to mention great prices. I highly recommend this place to everyone who is looking for great Dominican food.

This is sort of like a Dominican diner. It has a huge menu of Dominican as well as not Dominican entrees. We started with the tostones; they were good but not as crispy as I hoped. For the main course, I had rice with shrimp. It was delicious but quite pricey at $16 for the plate. The service was very accommodating and friendly. read more

Food - AMAZING! Price - AMAZING! Service - GREAT! Portions - GREAT! The waiting area could be a little bigger since a LOT of people come in for take-out, but then again, the place isn't big to begin with so, I'm probably just nit-picking. This place has NEVER disappointed me with ANY dish so far...and I've been frequenting this spot for YEARS! read more

I placed an order for delivery in the same town they are located. It took an hour to deliver & they forgot part of the order. When I called them they said they had to wait for the delivery person to get back to find out how long it would take to bring the rest of the food. I asked the to give me an estimate time for that delivery since I already waited 1 hour and the girl on the phone said "I'm not the delivery person to answer that". So rude. They will never get my business again. read more
