Went there for lunch against my wife's suggestion; I should listen to here more. We each got panini sandwiches, but I'm convinced these people don't know what a panini actually is. What we *got* were the bread loaf heels - you know, the ends of the loaf of bread that you normally toss away - turned with the crust-side-in, and the sandwich glopped onto that, and then almost, but not quite, totally un-grilled. My wife got a chai latte which was basically milk and sugar, and got a plain soda that was 98% ice. I'd eaten at a La Bou quite some time ago, and it was good, which is why I overrode my wife's objections, but now I know better. It seems the emphasis is on thrift and not taste. read more

Had a chinese chicken salad today 9-2, it was fine, but during the last 4 bites or so there was a thick piece of paper in my salad that ended up in my mouth. It was plasticy paper. When I told the staff the older guy just said " what salad?" I told him and he mumbled something so I said " what?" Then he mumbled again and all I could make out was " absolutely" so I just said okay then he walked away so I just went back to my table. I try not to come to this la boy cause there's almost always an issue but it's the closest to my house. Pretty gross. Also my friend asked for a paper cup instead of a plastic cup and the woman said " absolutely" then gave him a plastic cup..?? I enjoy the fresh options at La Bou but this is my favorite La Bou location because they make the best veggie sandwich with a pile of green lettuce, lots of sliced cucumbers and tomatoes,a healthy slathering of fresh avocado, a slice of cheese, and freshly thick cut whole wheat bread (or whichever bread you choose). This is my favorite sandwich at any La Bou but they are the most generous with the amount of veggies they put in the sandwich. The service is friendly and quick and the food is dependably good. They also make a fantastic Thai chicken with rice on Thursdays ( I think that is the day they offer that). read more

I have been eating La Bou for years and what can I say but that the baguette and dill is my favorite thing. I keep it simple with the baguette and dill with a mango ice tea. Last time I tried the sandwich and soup and it wasn't as good as I would have liked. The tomato soup was pretty basic but the grilled cheese sandwich was not good at all. The sandwich was pretty much all bread and no cheese what so ever. The customer service here is pretty good but need to work on keeping their restrooms cleaner. Lesson learned... I think I need to stick to my basics and stay with the baguette and dill with an iced tea. read more

Always love their Caesar salad but the time when I ordered a party size salad, they really disappointed me! They threw mostly all the tough white part (spine) of the romaine lettuce. The food is consistently great! have breakfast here often along with a group of friends. They are supper about allowing us to rearrange tables to accommodate the group. The food and service are great. Parking is tight but there is overflow parking on the street and in the back - no problem. So, the food is good. Salads, soups, sour dough bread with dill sauce, apricot croissants are my favs. The problem is that they only make 4 apricot croissants a day, and you have to get there early at 7:00 am to get one. Then, they recently told my husband they were out of Ham & Cheese croissants at 7:00 am. Huh??? But, they told him they could make one for him for an additional $1.50 per croissant. Seriously?? I'm addicted to the dill sauce. I pretty much get the same thing, every time. Turkey with bacon and avocado on a croissant. And the whole sliced baguette and about 4 of the dill sauces. Their muffins are amazing too. You basically can't go wrong with whatever you choose. A lil pricey, but you definitely taste it. And I always feel great after I've eaten here, I'm full but not weighed down. My only "thing" I have, and it's super minor, is that I wish they stayed open longer. But it's a bakery, so I don't expect them to be open late. They are open longer than most all other bakeries so I guess I shouldn't complain. Took a slice of cheesecake home after eating lunch at La Bou. Opened it up a few hours later and saw it was expired. They have a hand written date on the inner packaging. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. I told her the problem and she said there's nothing she could do. I could've sworn by the taste of the spicy thai chicken soup that there were some asians in the back kitchen influencing this amazing soup. I was so right! Maybe this just happened to my and was just a coincidence it happened a couple times. I love the food there and it's by far the best one I have been to. But the past few times I've been there I have found what looks like beard hair in my food, on containers, or all over chairs and tables. The first time I found it on a container I thought "maybe it was just like a one time deal and who cares it's only on a container" but than I went back and there it was again on my sandwich. I was so grossed out that I have not returned yet and hope in a few weeks or something that I can go back and be able to enjoy my food without finding short dark colored beard like hairs in my food.
