The usual order is two croissants and two coffees charged to my credit card. Was charged for 3 croissants and one coffee. An overcharge difference of $0.65. Not so much a big deal. But I pointed this out to the server who was right way defensive, opened the till and gave me back only $0.41. I'm not a person who likes to argue, so I'd accepted the change, had my croissant coffee and with wife and went on my way. With poor service their are other La Bou around to satisfy my croissant needs. read more

Called in an order for pickup. Order was made with wrong meat, no added PAID additions and terrible customer service. They insisted we return the sandwiches WITH reciept to recieve refund. We offerred to send pics as we are in a pandemic to NO resolve. Had to go inside to refund. Never will be returning to this location. Land Park NEVER gets it wrong and the customer service is great. Carmichael is still terrible and i can see why i quit coming here years ago. ***edit and update*** went in to return sandwiches for refund and were asked if they could re-make them. Then one was re-made wrong AGAIN. Plus you allowed an immune compromised person to hang out while you fail to make the sandwich correctly AGAIN. I did an online order for a bbq beef wrap and a sandwich. When I got back to work the wrap was completely wrong. It had beef but none of other correct ingredients. I called hoping for a refund or a new sandwich at some point. The manager was extremely rude and argued with me. She said "there is bbq sauce check again" she argued that it was correct even though I was looking at it. It had beef and cucumber and Mayo. All ingredients not supposed to be there. These guys still are amazing. Sadly, they were out of the hot spinach croissant-guess I gotta get here right when they open for that. I opted for the egg, bacon and cheddar on a croissant. Substituted pesto for mayo and added tomato. They charged me 60 cents for the pesto and didn't charge me for the tomato. Their chocolate raspberry coffee is divine! I still highly recommend their brownie rock if you've got a chocolate sweet tooth. Total for the croissant sandwich, brownie rock and coffee was $13. If possible, I would give this establishment ZERO stars. Wanted to make a customized order, not offered online, so went ahead and phoned the order in. Touching the "Call Now" sent me to the Corporate Office, not the franchised location. Ordered two sandwiches for myself and my wife. Mine with extra meat, hers with avocado and dill pickle on the side. Go the location, sandwiches are ready. Grab them and bring them back home, then things go south. Open up her sandwich, 1) meat is not advertised as it came (craved turkey vs deli turkey), lettuce wilted, no added avocado and no pickle on the side. Open up mine, no added meat that was paid for. Call up location, asked about if the pickle could be added (no served at this location even though online it's a .80 option), only turkey available is craved not deli style (other locations have deli) and lettuce was an apology. I asked if a refund could be given, no it could not, not without the receipt and sandwich. Also explained my extra meat was not given. Wife decided she could settle for another meat. Head back into the restaurant and re-explain the situation again, gave another sandwich to be made. After waiting around for the remake to take place (15 minutes, inside, during Pandemic) finally get remade sandwiches. Wife's sandwich STILL not made correctly with no added avocado it. Asked for a refund and scrapped the whole order. Will absolutely NOT go back to this franchise location. Terrible experience. Maybe others in the area have less problems 1) making the sandwich right the first time 2) offering what's available online (dill pickle) 3) remaking the sandwich CORRECTLY. read more

I ate at La Bou for the first time for lunch today. My wife has had it multiple times and is a big fan of their bread, so she requested it. When we pulled into the tiny parking lot every spot but one was taken, so we grabbed it before someone else pulled in and made our way to the restaurant. Inside, lots of people were ordering and lots were eating at the tables. There was a bustle of business and workers would move to cash registers when the line got to be more than a couple people long. We placed our orders. My wife got the La Bou club with avocado added. I got the Mediterranean club with lettuce instead of cucumber, and my mother-in-law got a smoked turkey sandwich. We sat at a table to wait for the food. About 5 minutes later it was ready to go. We took our food with us and ate it later. My wife really enjoyed her sandwich. My mother-in-law thought hers was alright. Mine was good, but not great. It also was on the walnut bread instead of the olive bread that it was supposed to come with. The quality was solid on the ingredients, and I agree the bread was very well made (though the crust was a bit hard to chew through). The quantity of food provided in the sandwich was reasonable for about $6, but the sandwich just didn't really jump out at me as being anything special. I respect those that love it, but it was just a sandwich to me. Summary: Good quality. Reasonable portions for reasonable prices. Messed up my order. Walnut bread is good but tough crust. The parking lot is small, so come prepared to wait for a spot or park in back. Nice service. They keep the line going by opening registers as necessary. read more

Always a favorite! Not all of them are the same. If you go downtown vs Rocklin the menu and ingredients change. The ingredients are fresh and the salads, soup, coffee drinks are DELICIOUS. I used to love La Bou and go frequently but every time I have gone in the last two years they are out of 90% of croissants by 8:00am. I love their hot croissants and they will make one to order if they're out of the premade ones. I typically get a ham and swiss, spinach or almond. The service is friendly and efficient. Nice place to just get a bite or bring some reading or work. It is more of a neighborhood spot. If you are looking for a hipster vibe this isn't it but it has a warm community atmosphere. On this visit I had a combo, 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad. The sandwich was cheese and pesto, and the salad was buckwheat noodles w/bean sprouts and peanuts. I had a chai latte, too. Yeah, would've been 10 +/- if I hadn't gotten the drink, it was tasty though. I like this Sacramento chain, maybe not for the gluten free folks. But, tasty, filling, good value. I recently had the luxury of getting up early and having a lemon raspberry muffin and a mocha. Both were divine and much needed in my morning. The service here is always amazing and all the servers are sweet and happy to help. The food tastes great and you absolutely cannot leave here without buying a jar of their famous Dill dip. The 2-rating is for the sliced baguette being too crusty and crumbly to enjoy or accept, based on the high quality freshness standards experienced at other locations, in general. So La Bou bagettes are traditionally softer than those say from a parisian bakery. And while those in Paris can be crusty, they are still chewy. However the bagettes at this La Bou location, seem like they are a day old, maybe even longer. With the geriatric clientele that frequents this location, you would think these crusty the clown bagettes would be softer, considering the potential harm they would cause to this population's porcelain pop-in pieces. When i said i wanted a refund for this subpar item that is usually delicious, fresh, and soft, the owner gave me silence - like she was caught bread-handed (yes it was a stretch and necessary at the the same time). No apologies offered for the old musty duck feed crusted stale slices of stupidity they tried to pass off as bread - fyi, when the quality is beyond non acceptable, or edible without sanding your teeth down, its perceived as such. Anyway, and a 2-rating for the 2nd chance i gave them when i thought it was too late in the day the 1st time i went, and gave them the benefit of the doubt when i received the same raggedy quality of bread. So i went earlier this time...and, same ol' peasant brickle. And lastly, the 2-rating represents the two finger adieu i bid thee forever and ever: Peace! maybe i'm being bias here because I've been coming to this la bou since I was 5. I used to go to school up the street so my mom would always bring me here before school. I STILL see my elementary school teacher frequent there a lot. I particularly like this one because the staff is the nicest here and gives the homiest feeling of when they first started. I absolutely love their food. Yes, it is overpriced but it's so good to me. It's not delicious like a five star Gary Danko meal, but it is so good in a little better than everyday flavor and it's so on point with the flavors. I got the Asian Chicken Salad. I usually get this salad at other La Bous. The salad I got was below par. It had both lettuce and cabbage in it. The chicken was over-cooked and dry. The carrot were round slices instead of those small julienned carrots. They were also dried out. On a brighter note, the service was fast. It doesn't seem as dirty as other reviews make it seem. Overall, I would not choose to come back to this particular location but if it is on the way to where I'm going like today, I'll eat here. read more

The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and takes hardly any time from the order to being ready. And those of you who remember the dill dressing being super tasty but watery? I have been coming to this La Bou for maybe 100 years now. The people leave a little something to be desired, but the coffee is always great (love the rotating flavor of the day) and the food is delish. Granted, it's a bit pricey. But I can get coffee (in my own travel cup) and a breakfast croissant for about 5 bucks, which I will gladly pay any day of the week over McNasty's. House salad is ridiculously good, raisin-custard croissant is nom, and their soup is killer as well. Overall I say forgo the 3-star rating and pop into this tiny La Bou hidden across the street from Carmichael Park. There's outdoor seating if you plan to stay and enjoy your delicious albeit high-priced and high-fat treats. You'll be glad you did! What Can I Get For 4 Bucks?: Hot turkey & cheese croissant at breakfast, $3.10. SO, DAMN. GOOD. I am heartbroken when they're sold out, but the ham is a good substitute, especially if you're in the mood for a little more salt. read more

Good food. Great turkey sandwiches. Place looks like a hospital room. White walls everywhere. Not too homey. Worse than the looks is the service. I don't know if it's just my bad luck but the 3 times I've been there I've been "greeted" by frowns, not smiles. I understand we all have bad days but happy employees are a good part of good customer service. Lastly, there's literally no plugs to use and charge laptops. I live 2 blocks off of La Bou, but I will continue driving 2 miles to the closest Panera, where people smile and I smile too =) read more

I knew this day would come. I have been frequenting this La Bou since i was a child. The food is always good. A little pricey, but you'd get what you paid for. Today, I purchased a soup & salad, kids meal, italian soda, and kids grill cheese (18.47). I was so disappointed when my sandwiches came out. The grill cheese was mysteriously toasted, but soggy. Not to mention there was so much over cooked cheese my daughter refused to eat it. Back off the cheese guys, one slice is adequate for kids. The roast beef on sourdough was hands down, terrible. Typically when I ordered a roast beef it would be filled with generous servings of meat, lettuce, cheese, sprouts, tomatoes.. you know, the works? Today, in my FAT slice of sourdough, there was one slice of lettuce, two half slices of tomato, and a few shreds of roast beef. I looked at the sandwich for a minute very confused, then upset. I took it back and asked the woman, "where is the cheese, the sprouts, the lettuce, the meat, and the sprouts". She said "this is how we always make the sandwiches". I told her, "no, its not. this sandwich has no substance. I've been coming here for 10 years and never got a sandwich like this". They took it back, added two slices of cheese, and that was it. F-, serious fail. For half the price I could of gone to SUBWAY and been more satisfied with the sandwich. Now the thai soup was good, as usual. Although the skimped on the SUBSTANCE again, which is the rice, chicken, mushrooms, and yummys on the bottom. The bread and dill sauce phenomenal as usual, can't go wrong. I really like this place, but hate the parking lot. The staff are all really friendly, food consistently good. I also like the speediness here. They seem to be much faster than a few other La Bou's in the area. I love the salad and sandwich combo at lunch, the dill dressing is always my splurge for the day! I have tried to recreate it myself at home without any luck what so ever! In the winter, the soups really hit the spot. The have a great variety. The butternut squash soup is amazing! Also try the chicken noodle, and veggie. Bread is always fresh, salads crisp with variety of ingredients. The only major downfall to this place is the parking lot.
