Believe the reviews: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! The only reason we ended up here was because our first option, Alpenrose, was closed (even though Yelp said it was open today - take note, they are closed on Mondays). Then our second option, The Vintage, was closing for brunch (Yelp failed us again and told us that they're open until 9:00 PM). Everything here is wildly expensive. Which we normally don't mind if the quality is there. Do not be fooled by the scratch made pasta. The pasta is bland. For reference, and before we get into how lackluster the food was, note that they CHARGE TO SPLIT PLATES. They charge $6 to split a small and $10 to split a large plate. You're better off just ordering something between $10 and $15 and getting something for your money. They also automatically charge you 3% for cost of living and the only option for gratuity is 20% (or custom). People come here for the patio ambiance not the food or service. Our waiter was barely at our table. We needed a refill on our water and it never came. We needed more Parmesan and we had to ask another waitress after waiting 10 minutes. The tagliatelle with truffle butter was a dud. It's butter with noodles. The truffle pulled through too much and the butter was not salted. We added a bunch of Parmesan to give it some flavor. Even then, we left half of it behind. The chicken panini was just ok but better than the pasta. The focaccia is made fresh and was the standalone highlight of both meals. PASS ON THIS PLACE. Would definitely recommend Bottega, this was on my list of places to go before visiting Vail and I'm so happy it was. We stopped by for lunch, the weather was great to sit on the patio and covered with umbrellas. The waitress was great and very on top of anything we needed. Great Atmosphere, Great Service , Good Food but a little too strong on the garlic... Whoa! We love La Bottega and it's one of our favorite restaurants in Vail. They have been open for many years and that speaks to the quality of the food, service and management. It's Vail, so it's not cheap but overall the food is delicious. We ordered the arrabiata pasta with chicken, the gnocchi and pasta primavera with salmon. We also ordered the bruschetta. Our waitress was amazing, and the service was impeccable. Overall the food and wine were delicious. However the dishes and even the bruschetta were plagued with an over abundance of garlic. The garlic was in fact so strong that it's still noticeable the next morning. NOT COOL...and quite gross. I appreciate when Garlic is used delicately to gently add flavor to a dish.... But Not to have so much added that it burns your lips and smells strongly the next morning...that's a sloppy move on the chef's part.... I don't know why people are hating on this place, the food and service is fantastic. They serve great food, have good cocktails and a great wine list. Look it up and if you don't like it don't complain that it's too expensive. I thought our meal and wine were priced fairly for a restaurant in Vail. This is a family owned business and they're doing a great job serving up amazing Italian meals for us skiers and boarders from out of town. I've been coming here for 10 years and I love this place. We spent several days in Vail recently and had dinner with friends at La Bottega. The weather was nice so we had dinner in their lovely patio. We weren't feeling very adventurous that evening so we all ordered the special of the evening--lasagne! The lasagne was delicious and we all ordered wine by the glass from their extensive wine list. The service was professional and friendly. The waiter was also very knowledgeable in the wine choices. We look forward to our next trip to Vail and LaBottega. read more

Super rude host. The lady assigning the tables where talking to us like if we owe her something. Super bossy and never even once says please! We were behind bc of the shuttle for @15 minutes and she told us she can give us a table but she needs it back in 45 minutes. We ended up sitting on the bar bc she couldn't even offer us another option. The options in the menu are overpriced, like for a salad 25 dollars. I wanted some protein with it, and it ended in a 35. I can't remember a dining experience more disappointing or underwhelming than our lunch on 8/25/25. The server behaved as if he did not want to be at work that day. The paper napkins were measly for the price of the food, barely covering one-half of the lap. The service was adequate. The carpaccio ($35) was heavy on leafy greens and light on beef tenderloin. The taramissou was tasteless. The grilled octopus was tough, as some tentacles could not be cut with a knife. Roasted potatoes were undercooked. Vodka pasta had no hint of vodka. The ambiance could have been great, but we were seated right next to the waiter station and got to see a waiter throwing menus because he was upset about his seating area. . Having worked in the service industry, we could relate, so no big deal! We just didn't have much of a view is all. The food was decent. The appetizers (bruschetta and Frito Misto) were a pass for me. Both were very bland and uninspired. The frito misto was served with Ranch?!? We somewhat salvaged the bruschetta using the olive oil, balsamic, and salt and pepper on the table. Luckily the main entrees were better. The pasta and the salmon dishes were solid. That said, the Waygu Strip Steak was AWESOME. I can whole heartedly recommend, and I would come back for that dish. La Bottega is a charming restaurant in Vail Village. The service is decent and they do make a mighty fine cocktail, but that is where it ends. Maybe I am a snob, but I do believe La Bottega is a victim of not keeping up with the times. The food is dated and bland. We tried a few appetizers, but stoped when the bruschetta came out. The bread was barely toasted and the tomatoes were the flavorless variety you'd buy at a supermarket (this is prime tomatoes season). After visiting other restaurants in Vail during our trip, this one failed to deliver with food. Local and good ingredients are available. I know La Bottega can do much better. read more

My favorite restaurant in Vail! 5 stars all around (service, food, ambiance). Starting w/ the perfect bread service accompanied by an elevated olive oil they have on the tables for dipping. The pizza is so good you can't stop eating it. In our case we had to ask the waiter to take it away. The pasta is exquisite. Highly recommend the white truffle gnocchi (truffles in a cloud). As far as service everyone from the hostess to the wait staff to the manager could not have been more accommodating. Can't wait to return! read more

I am very surprised to see the average rating for this restaurant is 3 stars, however, am also assuming the standards in Vail may be a bit higher than the average place. We went on a Saturday around 7pm, and were able to get in (2 people) without a reservation within 10 minutes. We started with the bresaola bruschetta, which was tasty, but we felt it could have used more dressing, sauce, or aioli on the arugula. We also wished it had been pre-cut. Very savory, very cheesy. - Lobster truffle pasta: also a favorite, so delicious and well balanced. - Truffle Gnocchi: I didn't love this, I thought the gnocchi wasn't fluffy enough. But the rest of the table raved about it. GOOD: - Carbonara: it was good, but not great. SKIP: - fish: we can't even remember what fish dish it was because it was forgettable. Possibly the worst Italian restaurant we've been to at Vail. Decor, ambiance, service and the host were really good, but that can't make up for the food. Started with the Bruschetta, which was supposed to be tomato, mozzarella and basil on toast. Usually it's a garlicky extra virgin olive oil brushed toast. It's usually crispy too. Not this place - it's just untoasted white bread similar to wonder bread, soft and floppy. My daughter (teenager) had the spaghetti and meatballs. She took one bite and stated that her school's spaghetti and meatballs were better. Of course we thought she was exaggerating so my wife and I tried it. And yes, it does qualify as worse than school cafeteria food. I had the gemelli with sausage, which was better than the spaghetti. It was very sweet, as if they added too much sugar in the sauce, while being very heavy and creamy. Not very good, but edible. My wife had the 'diavola' pizza, which is their way of saying 'sausage'. The sausage used was identical to the sausage in my pasta. Diavola is usually a spicy thin pepperoni-like slice of meat that typically gets crispy in a wood fired oven. This pizza was the soggiest, most unappetizing pizza we've had. We're from NY though so it's possible we've gotten spoiled with our pizza. I did hear another family comment on the way out that dominos as better, so we're not alone in our opinion. Skip this place. It's crowded and popular which is why I booked it. Never again. read more

Came to Vail one early afternoon and I was in the mood some Italian and of course a few glasses of wine. Situated with a beautiful view of the mountains and the shopping area. You absolutely have to sit outside and enjoy the views! I don't think you're doing yourself justice if you sit inside. Really defeats the purpose of going to Vail. Had a few glasses of wine and apps which was all very delicious! Mozzarella on the bruschetta was fresh. My main entree was the linguini and clams and it was so good. I highly recommend and appreciated the extra clean plate to put the clam shells on. Service was attentive but not annoying. Their lunch pricing is very reasonable for Vail although my plate was a little bit on the more expensive end. If you're in the area definitely a solid choice to choose from. read more

We had some time to kill while waiting for my niece and nephew to make it through their ski team training and education. My brother lives in Evergreen, so he was familiar with this restaurant and is a HUGE fan of their turkey subs, because of the quality of the ingredients (especially the bread). We had my 3 year old niece with us, so we had a reservation and came by. Looked slow when we walked into the first room- but then we entered the main dining area (where the open kitchen, with the pizza oven is) and the third room was also very, very busy. On the walk through to our table, I noticed a patron eating Gnocchi and it looked really good. Originally my brother and I planned on splitting a medium or large sub, since we had a very hearty dinner planned at their home. For my niece we ordered a 6" pepperoni pizza. Had to be a coal fired oven. Paper thin crust, but it wasn't really crispy so you had to fold it to get it stable to eat, especially for a 3 year old. The pepperoni was on the larger side, and was spicier than what most people would be used to. Very tasty. We decided to order a small turkey sub and a plate what turned out to be white truffle parmesan gnocchi. All of the food came out very quickly. Man, the pasta was definitely made fresh, and was so soft and delightful. You got a hint of the truffle in the olive oil, and there was ricotta involved as well so it was really, really like eating clouds. As promised to me, the turkey sub was excellent. It's amazing when you use good, quality ingredients what you can get when putting something simple together. The turkey had lettuce, tomato, onion, and "seasonings". A small sub was plenty, we cut it in half and I think overall it was about 7". Plenty to share, especially with the richness of the pasta. I got some extra parmesan on the pasta so that also helped. When we were done, we used some of the pizza crust and ran it through the oil from the gnocchi. Waste not, want not! LOL. My niece only ate half her pizza so we split the rest and cleaned all three dishes in record time. The three of us were there for maybe 35 minutes, so we realized how convenient it was to eat there. Bojan A was our server and he was really nice, professional, and super helpful. Never had to ask for anything, water was refilled quickly and without his great service we could've been there longer but we probably were the fastest table of the day. The only thing I wanted to point out is that the gnocchi was $38.50, a little on the pricier side but I live in GA so I understand that Vail has a higher price point. The sub and pizza were reasonably priced but all in our lunch was about $86. I enjoyed it and spending time with family is priceless so I just warn folks who are expecting huge portions that you may not see that. They have olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the tables. I bet for dinner they have KILLER bread service. My brother was right- the bread for the sub reminded me of the delicious rolls used for Philly cheesesteaks, or what you would see for a Po'Boy in New Orleans. I don't know if this is a privately owned business but it felt quaint and I liked it. The folks at the host stand were so friendly and sweet to my niece. I loved everything about this place. This food is not good. We had the baked goat cheese with tomato sauce as an appetizer. It was literally a hunk of goat cheese and what tasted like a can of hunts tomato sauce--no seasoning whatsoever. Just dreadfully plain and flavorless. The rest of the food was equally tasteless. Carbonara somehow had zero flavor. Wine was nothing special and overpriced. There are so many other wonderful restaurants in the village, skip this one. It should be noted they keep their overflow chairs IN THE BATHROOM and STALLS. I would be so distressed to find out my chair was kept in a bathroom. Gross! Also, Front of House--you ned to do a better job of managing the restaurant. There was one problem table whose children were running around like maniacs. Unfriendly, uninviting and poor service. We have loved La Bo for many years (we used to be locals for many years), but the last few years have been disappointing. When we walked in (at 3:30pm) the staff treated us as if we were an inconvenience. Even my 15yo son said 'I feel like we're not welcome here' after we were seated. (The place was quite empty at this hour... you'd think they'd have been happy for the business.) The food is very nice, but it sits in the warming area much too long. There should be teamwork amongst the staff to deliver hot food. Our pizza sat for at least five minutes and when it was finally delivered it was not hot. We were going to order dinner but after the poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere we decided to leave after the pizza and salad. read more

My wife made reservations here for our first night in Vail. The bread and dessert were OK. The entrees where good. My wife ordered the Lobster Ravioli and she really enjoyed it. I ordered the Gemelli, which was very good. The prices are standard for Vail and the staff was great. I'm not sure if we just lucked out on our orders or if some of the reviews here are fake, because our family of 5 enjoyed everything we ordered, and the service was fantastic.. It was very difficult to find outdoor seating in any restaurants in Vail and we aren't comfortable dining inside yet, so we were happy to find this place. We were the only ones on the patio on a snowy day, and the staff was amazing. Like someone else said, they were attentive but not annoying. The bread and breadsticks were fresh and delicious. Our server was even kind enough to deliver on our random request for honey. The guest chef checked in on us to see if we enjoyed the special dish he made that mixed Italian pasta with Spanish flavors. Their prices weren't as bad as the other restaurants we checked out.
